[Update x2] Axe on Rahm * Open Thread

Latest Update with IMPORTANT QUESTION FOR YOU: Are any of you seeing a black background on our blog? If so, please e-mail me at susanunpc at gmail dot com. Thank you. It is VERY important that you report this to me!

Earlier Update: Did you see that Santa banner at the top of our site? That venture was thought up, created, and is managed by none other than our fantastic NQRadio show host Nocturnal Warrior and a couple of his longtime, trusted friends. The cost of getting that photo of Santa Claus inserted into a photo of your home (your C’mas tree, your front door wreath, your fireplace, or wherever) is REMARKABLY inexpensive! And multiples of the photos are also VERY low-cost. ALSO: NoQuarter gets 15% of every sale, which is a BIG percentage for us (especially nice since we’ve been hit by high bills lately).

OPEN THREAD + this video from MSNBC’s Morning Joe today. And here’s a tidbit that is important for our newer readers to know: Our DCMediaGirl, who’s unfortunately been too busy to do her radio show or write for us (and we miss her so much!), knows Joe Scarborough and has worked with him in the TV business. DCMediaGirl is a great fan of Joe’s mind, independence of thought and opinion, and his qualities as a human being. (There’s more on those two below the fold.)

In my recent story, “We Miss DCMediaGirl! * Open Thread,” lamenting DCMediaGirls’ absence and mentioning her fondness for Joe — which has more information about DCMediaGirl — I wrote:

“[She] posted videos of some of his best moments in “Fair and Balanced and Good For You!,” in “Your Fourth Estate at Work, Folks,” and in “Enough Already.”

NOW, ENJOY YOUR OPEN THREAD! And happiest holidays to all of you.

P.S. I called our local county shelter, and they are in desperate need of cat and dog food, as well as financial donations. If you are able, please include a donation to your own local shelters at this time. Every shelter in this nation is overwhelmed by animals that people can no longer care for because of our tough economy. Later today, if the roads aren’t too icy, I’m going to deliver a few cans of wet cat food to the shelter. It won’t be much, but every little bit helps.

Animals have no voice except for the kind-hearted people who work and volunteer at shelters and who help run advocacy groups such as HSUS.

They can’t tell us how desperate they are for some food and some love.

So it’s up to us to think of them. And help them however we can.

You’d be surprised what shelters need. Everything from bleach to soaps (including laundry soap) to trash bags to WET and dry food to U.S. postage stamps to printer paper, and on and on. Whatever you have “extras” of, they’ll gladly take.
