Donna could be gay, but I'm not sure that would change the story as I wrote it. Gay people often have strong feelings for people of the opposite sex. Think of the gay stereotypes of gay men who love Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, and Liza Minelli. I would imagine a gay woman would like certain men who aren't macho, are slightly effeminate, or who aren't muscular, all of which describe Obama. :)

Actually, I envisioned it as more of a racial hero worship kind of crush, so again, I'm not sure it would change the context of Nancy teasing her about her fascination with Obama, which was clear throughout the campaign.

But I very much appreciate your kind words and for taking the time to make a thoughtful comment... or two in this case! Thanks! :)

I too want a do-over - of the 2000 elections, but this time with a professional media. Imagine a "Groundhog Day type movie" of that election with the media actually reporting on the candidates instead of playing "Who is the Coolest Kid in High School"! Seriously, until the public realizes how we were sold this defective product we will not learn our lesson. As I constantly repeat, an informed electorate is a sine qua non of a healthy democracy.

I just posted this at the Washington Post in response to today's op-ed piece "Mr. Bush at his Best and Worst". I must have missed the "best" part.

<blockquote>So, the Post was surprised and disappointed by the lack of WMD in Iraq! Had your reporters bothered to do their jobs and talk to career CIA analysts rather than just listen to Cheney's echo chamber, (Scooter Libby, Ahmed Chalabi, etc.) they would have known before the war that the evidence for Saddam still having WMD was very questionable. That is what Knight Ridder's (now McClatchy's) Jonathan Landay and Warren Strobel did. Those of us lucky to have been readers of a McClatchy paper knew prior to the war that there were likely no WMDs. Our only surprise was that you were surprised.

Heck, if your reporters had done their jobs in 2000 and fully informed the public about Bush's background - his bankruptcies, blatant insider trading at Harken, neglect of his National Guard duties, his lies about his record as governor e.g., restricting health care to poor children or opposing a patients' bill of rights - the American public would never have elected this deeply flawed, unqualified man and we would have been spared the last eight years of radical incompetence.
Instead journalists were revelling in the stupid, DEMEANING nicknames Bush bestowed on them, gushing about how much more fun he was than the boring, knowledgeable, substantive Gore, gleefully passing on Republican smears they knew to be untrue(Gore never claimed to have invented the internet and never held a fundraiser at a Buddhist temple) and generally treating that election like a contest for Prom King.

Of course, 9/11 may well have happened anyway, although Gore would never have ignored the repeated warnings from the intelligence community of an impending attack, or tell a CIA briefer "Now you've covered you ass." Gore surely would have put our aviation system on high alert, having only recently chaired the Airport Security Commission which strongly warned about our vulnerability and pressed for tougher security at at airports. (Most media outlets did not even cover the impressive and prescient work of this commission, which is why most of us never heard of it.) They wouldn't post it at first because I had quoted our fearless leader's profanity to that poor CIA briefer. Hilarious.

Does anyone truly believe that Gore would have diverted attention from Al Quaeda in Afghanistan to waste precious resources in Iraq? Appointed radical deregulators to oversee our financial institutions? Promoted torture? Trusted Putin because he showed him a cross? Neglected the Israeli-Palestinian peace process?

The so-called liberal media deserves a large share of the blame for the precarious situation our country is in.</blockquote>

Here is the link to the McClatchy WMD coverage and an explanation for why they did not win a Pulitzer. These guys make Woodward and Bernstein (at least the present day ones) look like Frog and Toad.

Who is the little man with the tiny penis behind the curtain?

A massive amount of money was used to BUY the white house -- and who ever is behind 0-zero has been getting him ready for years.

I'd like to know when the Obama's had plastic surgery and WHO paid for that?

Obama has a kid Michael Jackson nose in photos of him post law school at this first job - then at some point he got a nose job.

Mrs. 0 also had extensive surgery -- it couldn't help her nasty soul -- but her face got fixed.

The fix was in long before 2004 -- but funny script and in a saner world that just may be how it happened.

Gawd! I hate them all! And I am such a racist now. I put it on my resume, ra-cist because of Obama. Dang why? Why? Why did this happen?

I don't think those 4 are smart enough to have planned this alone. Someone else was in charge...but who????

I have no idea of what the truth is, but I've heard rumors that Donna is gay. If you write another sketch like this, she could be pushing Hillary out of consideration as vengeance for her unrequited love.... :)
