I wonder about responsibility, though. Does the community organizer aspect change the whole assumption that one doesn't have anything to do with what one's stupid followers do? I'm thinking it does maybe more than usual.

I'm always amazed at the really strange interpretation of Christians I see in comments like this. It's a bit more than just the "End Times" that Zionist Christians are interested in Judaism and Israel. They more than any of the other Christian groups have moved to correct historical errors in church attitudes toward Jews, to the point where they embrace Jewish interpretations of the Old Testament, embrace Jesus' Jewish heritage, and interpret the Old Testament with the identity of Israel as Israel instead of as the church, which caused a great deal of trouble. By honoring the Jewish heritage of the faith, they have worked very hard to overcome the historical animosity that led to alot of ugliness, and the warmth is apparent on both sides. Complain about that if you like, but I only see that as a positive thing.

I've been trying to figure out what to do about that. I've been a Democrat from the start, though hardly active or even interested in politics, so it's in name only, but now with what happened in this election, I've been wondering if I should switch parties. Problem is in PA you can't vote in the primary if you become an Independent. So that means if I leave, I go Republican. It's hard because I don't agree with either party right now, so it doesn't feel like much of a choice.

Yes, in fact the Republicans did give us Obama. They showed that you can cheat and game the rules, and win elections without any consequences. Then they showed that when it was difficult to get away with cheating, Rove and the Bush campaign could just scare the crap out of people, and let the fear of the voters carry them back into office. Despite their contempt for American values and the constitution, we have not been attacked again on American soil, and we are supposed to thank Bush for keeping the boogeyman at bay? I haven't been attacked in my home by a bear for the past 8 years, so should Bush get credit for keeping the bears away as well ? I will never forget or forgive the Obama campaign for the manner in which they were annointed, but I don't wish for him to fail, and I intend to remain vigilent and skeptical while watching his actions as well as his words. As uneasy as I may be over the uncertainties of an Obama Administration, I don't long for the days of a justice department run by idealogues from an evangelical university, intelligence operations inside the Pentagon that are used to circumvent and steamroll the established intelligence community and to support the wacky and dangerous notons of Rumsfeld and Cheney, FEMA and other government agencies run by incometent idealogues who hate government and then run the agencies from that mindset, violations of human rights and human decency that are "authorized" by tortured logic and legal arguments, hearing verbal praise for our military while providing substandard care and (after getting to the top of interminable waiting lists) denying VA benefits for wounded soldiers based on specious arguments of "pre-existing conditions". We don't long for the day when we can get science back out of our schools and deny basic scientific facts, while diagnosing brain activity in a comotose woman based on a video....and on and on. You may believe that Bush was a great president, but there are many at this site, while skeptical about Obama, who feel that Bush, Jr. may have been the worst President EVER, and that everything he touched or influenced in any way turned to crap.

"Booing doesn’t mean they are Obama supporters. I had friends who went to DC out of a historic witness motivation. They didn’t vote for Obama. They’ll be just as quick to put him in jail for the crimes Bush and Cheney committed, or others. But no doubt if they saw Bush they’d boo.

This is America, where we have the right to display our contempt. Without the right to display contempt, we’d just be a mirror of the England George III wanted us to stay with.

“Turn the other cheek” is an idea exclusive to a particular batch of folks, and in certain times, there is an appropriate time to “turn the other cheek”. But at the same time, apathy towards crimes is much worse than the crime itself sometimes."

But that was not the issue here at all. It was in the midst of a state ceremony. While dissent is an important component of any free society, there is also the concept of acting with dignity and grace. People could refrain from clapping for Bush. They could say, "Lalalalala" the entire time he was talking. But to boo someone in the midst of a solemn ceremony is a bit classless.

Like I said, the issue at hand had nothing to do with war crimes, for which Bush and Cheney should be held accountable. But there is a separate forum and time for that, not the middle of an Inauguration ceremony. It is not a matter of apathy regarding war crimes during that one hour, but demonstrating a bit of self-restraint.

Not sure what you mean abt "turning the other cheek" being an idea "exclusive to one batch of folks," though.

"one deep thinker took the opportunity to give the “one-finger salute,” thus saying more about himself than anything else"

Wow, the finger, as Obama himself did. Wonderful!!! He's teaching very well his minions. The former President has enjoyed the Obama's treatment but any journalist said a word when Hillary had to suffer this

Thanks, Ani - I appreciate it!

And yes, it is telling, sad, and unfortunate that we have a president so self-centered and narcissistic. Those characteristics he did not hide, either...

Btw, I don't know how you were so misunderstood above, Ani. I think you have been very clear on your positions. And you've had some GREAT posts after the election abt Obama, the DNC, etc. I recommend, if there is confusion, that people do a search for your articles.

Think much, do YOU??

What the hell does it say about Obama that OTHER CROWD MEMBERS were the ones who had to shush the idiots who were booing Bush?? It says NOTHING about Obama and EVERYTHING about those people - they had class and they respect the solemnity of the occasion and the office of POTUS.

Obama has NO CLASS. He has not ever, not once, stood up and denounced the crass behavior of his cult followers during this election cycle. Not to mention the fact that he has engaged in the same type of crass behavior.

And yes, McCain DID stand up to people at his rallies when they were acting inappropriately. Spend a little time reading the archives and you will see that many writers here, including RRRA, commended him for doing so.

Steve: I believe you are exactly right. All adults know the reaction when spoiled teens are scolded--they turn on you. Obama's "youth" enjoy believing he's as crass and callous as they are.

You kiddies know nothing about real politics and you can't read. Hillary never lost the nomination and Obama sure didn't win it. He was awarded double delegates for every AA district he won in the primaries, he was given Hillary's elected delegates after the RBC meeting and he still didn't have enough pledged delegates to claim the nomination. Durbin and the boys had to go out and threaten all the Super Delegates with either voting Obama or seeing their careers ruined. That's how your hero got on the ballot.

He's just a figurehead like his hero, Ronald Reagan.

Is it me or is it kind of weird how closely aligned Obie is to Hollywood? Seriously, I have long list of movie stars now whose films I'll never pay money to see. Maybe it's the Oprah connection. Dunno, but I don't watch her either.

He will do nothing to admonish this behavior because he needs them to be "fired up! ready to roll!" for the next four years in order to steal the next election, too. I don't have the link but read recently somewhere that there is a proposal to fund 75MM to keep his inner circle on the payroll as gov't-paid "organizers." If anyone has that link I'd like to see it again.

"but NQ is relentless about the lie"

This is a lie, NQ isn't relentless about anything of the sort. Your monolithic phrasing doesn't suddenly fuse a bunch of people into one. There are many areas of this site that have disagreements. If you don't want to be discounted, then don't swath.

Anyone who swaths a a whole group with an accusation, then participates in the communication too, is dishonest.

It says something about you to fall for the "canard" instead of engaging in meaningful discussion.
