“She Does Not See That As Welfare”

What a sad, sad state of affairs:

Nadya Suleman, the woman who gave birth to octuplets last month, is receiving $490 a month in food stamps, and three of her first six children are disabled and receiving federal assistance, her publicist confirmed to The Times…

Suleman had told NBC News correspondent Ann Curry in an interview that she was not receiving welfare. Furtney said Suleman didn’t consider the food stamps and SSI to be welfare.

“In Nadya’s view, the money that she gets from the food stamp program … and the resources disabilities payments she gets for her three children are not welfare,” he said. “They are part of programs designed to help people with need, and she does not see that as welfare.”

And yet somehow she managed to afford the multiple in vitro treatments and what appears to be facial plastic surgery. With three disabled children at home she kept having more and more and more.

Enough is enough. It’s time to pull the plug on this whole charade and give those children a fighting chance.

I think she has some mental issues and is trying to morph into Angelina Jolie. She sounds sane enough, but by her appearance, and her brood, I think there is something else going on there…

I also think, perhaps, the doctors were doing a little experimenting?

That’s my problem with most any welfare program, and why it should be private. So far, she’s not ineligible for the programs. She has me, and you, and everyone else over a barrel for a portion of her bills, until a law, always an unwieldy thing, changes.

A ‘right’ to care, or a ‘right’ to help, is really an imposed obligation on other people. We’re far enough down this road that this particular lady bothers me not a bit more than the rest of it all.

We’re paying for foreign women’s birth control, and people are celebrating it, for crying out loud. My old roommate waited probably two months to get an abortion so she could get it free under a state program, even though she could afford it and so could her boyfriend. She was pregnant again a month later. All of this crap bugs me. I am paying for things I absolutely disagree with, for people who absolutely have their own means or at the very least have no right to the result of my labor.

Government is terrible at most of the things it tries to do. Big news.

I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt but it is becoming increasingly clear that she may, in fact, be nutz.

There is more to it than what the media is spoon-feeding us.
The point was raised – how does a woman who is on welfare get the $10K to do invitro? Why did she proceed w/o reducing? If she had the other 6 kids via invitro, she must have reduced.

If I were to venture to guess, I would think that in her crazy mind that she perhaps watched Jon & Kate + 8. They do get lots given to them. Perhaps in her mind, she thought she could get in on that action.

The talk radio host this AM had callers. Every one of them said that she needs to think about adoption for them.

she apparently received an $180,000 damages settlement for a work related injury. She never told her mom about it. It was for a back injury. How does a woman with a bad back carry 8 kids?

Comment by TheBigB | 2009-02-10 09:05:59

Wouldn’t the $180K be a disqualifier as far as getting food stamps and other aid?

I don’t know…good question.

I have friends who would love to have a baby but aren’t able to. I think she should offer them up for adoption and give them a good chance in life. She obviously is thinking only of herself. All she wants is money- her mother is raising her other 6. What a mess.

Beverly Hills clinic has achieved many of its pregnancies with one patient — Nadya Suleman. http://www.latimes.com/news/la-me-octuplets10-2009feb10,0,1857855.story?track=ntothtml

Can we get Rick Warren and James Dobson to help raise the children, after all this procedure was not stem cell research? just kidding

Please–those poor kids are gonna have enough problems without false prophets like Warren or Dobson khesting their minds up six ways from Sunday.

Khest: a word from a Klingon dialect. I will not translate it.

Read the article linked above from the LA Times. Three of the older children are disabled and the nut job mother is receiving social security payments for them. And she has a publicist!!!!!!!!

The doctor should lose his license to practice medicine.

I’m guessing her publicists – plural – have started to realize they bought a pig in a poke.

There’s only 24 hours in the day.
She cannot possibly do just the basic care and nuture 14 children. Most likely some or all of the 8 babies are going to have extra needs cuz they are mult. preems. They are going to experience some dev. delay, growth issues compounded by medical issues that are often common to multiples. Some of those issues will iron themselves out with proper care, nuturing.
There simply is not enough time in the day to prepare bottles, feed, change diapers, bath, take to the doctor, go to the grocery store, prepare bottles, nuture 8 babies and do the same for 6 other children.

And she’s going for her master’s in counseling this fall. (I guess her mom will watch the 14 kids.)

We need a counselor like this? Obviously, low standards for counselors. Insanity.

They can go to daycare in one of Obama’s “faith based” daycare centers. Some “faith based” program ran by some religous organization that preaches “hate America” can then make like 8K-10K a month for watching her kids… heck more than that if some or all of them are “special needs”.

COMING UP ON FOX – They went to the clinic, and have some info. After the commercial.

This is horrific. I don’t have 8 kids because I couldn’t afford to. I didn’t even think that I might be able to suck off the government and have more than I could afford. This woman is shameful. How many of the 8 will end up in prison, on drugs, or become abusers down the road? She’s not really a fine shining example and you have to question when someone’s own mother turns on them. Well since we are becoming a socialist/commie country, maybe we can do what they do in China. Don’t they limit how many babies you can have, and/or throw out the female babies?

Counseling is a good field for her because it’s going to take plenty to get her back on the planet. She doesn’t seem to know herself very well. In her interview she stated that she “has trouble accepting help.” Yet, all of her actions show that she has no trouble whatsoever in that department. Not only does she have no trouble accepting help, she expects it as much as she expects her next breath. The children will be the biggest losers in this fiasco followed by the taxpaying public. I think the doctors who made this possible should be made financially responsible for their negligence and low ethical standards.
