As I’ve said before, I think she is off limits until she does something worthy of our writing. She is an intelligent woman I will not denigrate, without damn good reasons.
Here I just wanted everyone to read the headline, “The First Lady The World’s Been Waiting For”.

I want to send the crew of What Not to Wear over to the WH. Really — maybe Stacey and Clinton can help. Michelle should learn to dress for her body type. She seems to have toned arms and what not, but her shape is not conducive to those wide flared skirts that end right at the knees. She wore some kind of summery looking thing the other night that, maybe it was the camera angle, made her look a little disproportionate. And am I the only one wondering whether that weird bowing of her legs continues all the way up?
I’m not going to say anything about that inauguration ball dress, since I too, once wore a rather unflattering prom dress.
Every time they talk about how beautiful she is, I think of that picture of Obama and Said with Michelle sitting there with her goggles on looking angry and evil. What miracles they have done with her makeover - seriously! She does look better now than she did earlier in their marriage.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I let my subscription expire to Vogue, Vanity Fair and W due to the drool fest they have with the Obamas. She’s not fashionable so far as I’m concerned. There’s nothing special about her dress and I don’t see any particular style. Today on TV, Andre Tally is touting her as “American Style”. She has made a lot of mistakes so I just don’t want her to be embarrassing.
She has no pride in this hateful country- unless of course her husband gets to be POTUS (and excluding all the advantages she enjoyed due to affirmative action, and that great job at the hospital. Remember? The one her husband financed?). I’d say that’s a person worthy of denigration. Of course I think Obama is worthy also, what with that silly old 20 year membership in a black supremacist “church”, but then again, we WERE told that those things mean nothing, and to just move along…
Am so sick of this now, what the hell is wrong with these people, if its not Obama on every front cover of the Times, now we have his wife with this nonsense that she is the first lady the world has been waiting for.
I keep asking myself when will all this end? I think eventually the world is going to start laughing at us because here we are praising a man, making him into some kind of tin god and the country is going down into the crapper.

A couple of days ago she was in a panel discussion at some University–forget which one.She said she hated to hear someone ask a kid “what do you want to be when you grow up?” She quoted her age (40 something) and went on to say ..”and I still don’t know what I want to be.”
I too think she is worthy of denigration. She has been an avowed anti-patriot her entire life. I believe her to be a vile, hateful individual. There are plenty of intelligent people who are scoundrels.
As far as the fashion stuff goes, any decent person in her position would have disavowed the media’s (absurd) insistence that she is a style icon on the order of the late Mrs Onassis. Instead, the porcine Ms 0 has basked in the attention. As if that weren’t enough, she has raised the matter herself, making statements about her own sense of style being strong enough that she doesn’t need fashion advisors. That makes her fair game, in my book. If she could keep her big mouth shut, it would be different. But she can’t.

I worked in fashion until a few years ago and liked to keep up with what the boys were promoting for women. Most of it is a reflection of how much male designers hate women though and it’s very repugnant. Won’t miss any of that.

andrew, you’re just one of my favorite people here and I adore you. But I have this really touchy gag reflex that gets set off when I see either of the B-Cracks. I’m tired of feeling nauseated every day, so I just have to shut it out for four years lol. They literally make me vomit.
I purposely don’t have magazine subscriptions or newspapers. I don’t watch the alphabet networks either.
Much to my surprise, this week, a magazine showed up with my son’s name as the addressee (well, actually, he’s named after his dad, so it could be his father, but I didn’t think of that). A few months back, my son did something on the internet which caused a host of solicitors to call our home asking for him, as well as a subscription to Ebony magazine - which, by the way, was a trip to read. I had no idea what was in that magazine at all. So now I’ve got that experience on my side. Anyway, so I assumed that this was for him.
Who was on the cover, but Obama, of course, and I was all hopped up on PMS anyway, so I called the company and told them that they could keep their magazine and give it to the poor people or something as a donation, and by the way, would they send the message to corporate that if they wanted to differentiate themselves, they could do a cover without Barack, Michelle, OR the girls, just for fun, or as a sanity saving measure for the other half of the nation who hasn’t gone ga-ga over the ONE (heck, that might even be considered charity, who knows what they could deduct on their taxes).
Turns out that a colleague of my husband had sent the subscription as a gift. Woops. But my sentiment still stands. Is he taking advice from Oprah or something? REALLY. You don’t need to saturate us with your presence. In fact, meter your wonderful goodness out and always leave us wanting. Or SOMETHING SO THAT I CAN STOP AVERTING MY EYES IN THE GROCERY STORE!

We shouldn’t forget that Hillary was the target of vicious attacks and vile slander (and libel) WHILE she was First Lady; it didn’t suddenly start after she became Senator Clinton nor when she decided to run for the Democratic nomination for President.
And, those attacks were led by the likes of Rush Limbaugh (who also compared the then teenaged Chelsea Clinton to a dog) and Bill O’Reilly.

This is WAAAYYY off topic, but I just found it. This is a story in the L A Times about a good hearted woman from my home town of Manzanola, CO. Manzanola is a tiny community of less than 500 people in Southeast Colorado. Lorraine Melgosa has lived there for about 40 years. I knew she was a kind hearted person from the start.
Now she volunteers her horse drawn hearse carriage for funerals for soldiers slain in Iraq and Afghanistan. Her horse and hearse carriage have carried 20 soldiers to thier final resting place. I went to the first soldier’s funeral parade she provided. Jason Valasquez was a good friend to my sons. Lorraine Melgosa is an angel.
I won’t buy the magazine, but I wonder if Michele is wearing her $600. earrings or a $13 dollar pair?

The black and red dress she wore on one night (can’t remember which night) was absolutely the most hideous dress I have ever seen in my life, yet the next day the media was all over her “great sense of style”. They would have said the same thing if she had worn Garanimals. She would be much better off sticking to classic, timeless styles with a little modern updating than trying to be a fashion “icon” with her own taste, because her own taste is, quite frankly, the epitome of nouveaux riche with roots in blue collar Chicago.

Hey. I take offense to the garanimals jab. I, for one, as a non-fashion loving or fashion understanding female, would love to see the comeback of garanimals for the over 40 set. I need someone to put the top with the bottom, and if it takes a Giraffe picture to do it, I would be all for it. My usual way of putting an outfit together involves picking a clean pair of jeans and a shirt that is also clean and doesn’t leave a gap where my stomach shows. Don’t you think garanimals could improve that situation?

The message of the picture first says that she is very comfortable leaning heavily to the far left. It says, ‘I’m a socialist.’ It also says she is smart but also critical and cynical. And it also says that she is a powerful woman that will muscle down any contenders. The purple dress means that we have to accept her as a bitter pill just as she accept us as a bitter pill too. It also says she is closed to innovation and oppose to change, but she supports and cares much for her husband and will defend him fiercely. But unfortunately it also says she is afraid and not very comfortable in her new role. That there are a lot of things that she doesn’t know that makes her feel out of balance and out of place.

Prior to 1999 in Illinois, by law, a judge had to approve placing one’s license on “voluntary inactive” status, hense “court ordered”.
There is no further meaning to it.
All disiplinary actions for Illinois attorneys are posted online, I looked at every one for 1993 (the year she went inactive), and there are none regarding Mo.

I will not fall into the trap of criticizing her for only sexist reasons. I won’t comment on her fashions or makeup because that goes against my feminist studies. It would not even be discussed if she were male.
Her using fashion, fashion magazines and provocative poses to put women back in the bedroom is most definitely fair game.
I’m a former fashionista and as such reserve the right to critique anyone who appears on not just any old rag, but the ICONIC fashion bible of the United States, (which by the way according the the current first lady the world has been waiting for, is a mean place, doncha know?)
I don’t know that the obsession with fashion is necessarily sexist, to my mind it does indicate a sense of misplaced priorities, for sure.

The translation was a little rough but the fat thighs and tacky dress comments are those universal quips all women understand. She should have stayed where she belongs. I read that article in Italian, and yes, the brutality of their assessment was lost in translation.
Meechelle (v.2.0) did look good in that red dress she wore right after her husband was elected and they went to visit with George and Laura to pose for kissy kissy nice nice pix.

For some reason I can just see Priestly ripping into the Vogue cover and loudly criticizing the She-Obama’s fashion “sense” as being little better than Andy Sachs’s at the start of the film (of course, Miranda would also be on the phone demanding the head of her magazine for failing to get the First Lady to grace their cover first).

I’m 62 and honestly, will probably not see a woman become President in my lifetime, because Obama will be re-elected and after his second term I’m sure the Dems will find another way to totally screw any Democratic or Republican woman who has the nerve to run. Cindy, you will see a woman President. Of course you will. Obama is a one-term “President” if that. I doubt he will make it that long. Then it’s Palin, Hillary, someone else. People will know in 2012 what they did wrong in 2008. They voted for the Affirmative Action do nothing, know nothing candidate. The candidate’s wife voiced her reticence in an interview shown Monday [Feb. 4, 2008] on ABC’s “Good Morning America” while the Illinois senator barnstormed the Northeast on the last day before Super Tuesday.
Asked if she could see herself working to support Clinton should she be the nominee, Michelle Obama replied, “I’d have to think about that.”
“I’d have to think about that, her policies, her approach, her tone,” she said.

I think it is absolutely fair game. I think all other first ladies would have sat on the sofa or chair and looked directly into the camera. I don’t know what she’s trying to prove, but I think it is extremely undignified for a mother, a first lady, and a married woman to drape herself like that. I would never pose like that.
For anyone who says we are being petty discussing the so-called First Lady (I have serious problems saying it) just remember that the First Lady is in fact historically the icon of taste, fashion sense and grace for our country. Really good news that we got an “icon” who hates us and is a mean-spirited, tasteless, classless, amoral witch. Sorry, she is. And if anyone wants to question that…remember how she has continually treated HRC. The evil glares, the fact that she refused to stand when HRC spoke, even though the entire audience was on its feet. She’s just plain damned mean and a bad person. I don’t care what she does as a mother. Even the worst serial killers on the planet take care of their young.

The way I see it, HRC supporters (I’m one of them) can not complain about the sexist & unfair treatment of Hillary, but then do the same thing with MO. It doesn’t matter if you are responding to nastiness from the other side, you don’t justify bad behavior with bad behavior.

Two different things. HRC never spewed hatred about my country. HRC didn’t write a thesis spewing hate at me for being white, and at my country. HRC never handled herself with the lack of class, dignity or honor that MO continually handles herself with. It’s two different things. This is neither sexist, nor racist, whatever. It’s a mean woman who I have zero respect for and never will. And the good news is that I don’t have to.
It’s crass that during the exact moment that our country is imploding financially, we have the cult of celebrity continually foisted on us. Don’t buy it; don’t read it. Stop the insanity.

Next thing we know she’ll be doing ads for pajamagrams. With this lizardly pose and the mush mouthing going on during the Inaugural, makes me wonder what kind of an image the Obama’s are cultivating for her. I realize that her arms are toned, but I am sick of looking at her armpits with almost every thing she wears. Women wear long sleeves in winter time.
To be honest I have no idea why Michelle Obama (or Vogue for that matter) thinks that she is so fashionable. She is the worst dressed First Lady I have ever seen. I was so….embrassed for her when she boarded that plane for their trip to Hawaii. Her pants were an ugly color, they were too tight, her hair NEVER seems to be combed.
The Inaguration outfit was shameful and I am so glad that I am not a fan of Vogue and at this rate I never will be.
