I believe the Dems knew very well about Gregg's history, all of it, and he was the perfect foil to enable the "outrage" from blacks and Latinos, already planned before the nomination was announced. Bipartisan effort, no way. Another Obama ploy to consolidate power into one address in DC, you betcha.
