The protest makes Obama look weak. If he sits down at a summit with Putin, can Putin get into Obama’s head with racial innuendos? “Watermelon is in season, would you like a slice, Mr. President?” Obama’s blood pressure spikes, his head throbs, he can’t concentrate, he screws up the negotiations. Is it that easy to knock him off his game?

Once I was eating a banana and some white guys pointed and laughed at me. I just shook my head like they were subhuman idiots and went on eating my banana. I enjoyed the angry look on their faces when they realized my disdain for them.

If Obama is psychologically vunerable to racism, he’d better let Hillary handle the big boys.

But I still think the toon was moronic for making light of a police shooting, especially in New York.

While I appreciate that you’re not responsible for what other people think, when we put things out there for the public to read (like my post above where, naturally, the reaction is implied that I “see things that aren’t there” as a possibility), I have to recognize that communication involves other people and they bring their own experiences, moods, etc. to the situation.

Some extreme examples involve translation, where car manufacturers were puzzled as to why their latest model sold far below expectations in Central and South America. Finally, someone found out why. Because “Nova” can be interpreted as “it doesn’t go” (if you read it “no va” in Spanish). Wasn’t their fault they named the car after a beautiful astronomical heavenly body and it was misinterpreted, but it happened.

As for the topic at hand, I’m thinking of things like the recent documentary showing how some Americans are crying because the “country is ruined” because a black man was elected president. Further, I remember the failed assassination plot against FDR for putting forth the New Deal. Is it then “wrong” to be sensitive to things that could be interpreted as shooting the president?

I know some people are blinded by their dislike over Hillary losing. I voted for her in the primary. I gave money to her campaign. I went to a benefit to try to help her retire her debt.

But I think it’s a huge mistake, given how close we are to economic disaster, to sit around and only gripe in a non-constructive manner. Not saying that applies to everyone here or anyone specifically. I’d let each of us look at our own behavior and decide for ourselves if that’s what we do.

But losing this man in this way would be disastrous. Not because he’s The Savior. I don’t believe that. But because A) our psychology is so bad now I wonder what the effect would be of such a cynical thing happening would be and B) we need continuity. While I think Hillary (please, Lord, not Biden) could step in and do a bang up job, she could not undo the damage caused by another horrible incident on the national level.

Anyway, thanks to all who engaged me on this. Glad I now understand what the author’s intended.

Indeed I’ve been so angry at this.. If you haven’t read this article Politico had a stern story about it (surprising from Politico) which would make you even more
pissed at him for having nothing other than his reelection in mind since Nov. 4 (imo that is why he chose Rick Warren!).

I’m getting so sick of Holder, Sharpton et al. Obama wouldn’t be President without huge numbers of white people voting for him.

This chimp was not even Obama–it was our brilliant Congress.

And Holder, I’m sorry, that is not the way to start talking to the whole country–with an insult. I don’t believe I’m the only white person who had a bad reaction to his approach.
