And the “Thrill-Up-My-Leg Award” Goes To….

webegaward2_bak_edited-1

With rare and scattered exceptions, Chris “Tweety” Matthews was not kind to Hillary (or Bill) Clinton. His rude remarks were childish and reeked with suppressed envy. Meanwhile, Matthews gushed over Barack Obama like a love-sick teenager. On February 12, 2008, he made this astounding admission:

“I have to tell you, you know, it’s part of reporting this case, this election, the feeling most people get when they hear Barack Obama’s speech. My, I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don’t have that too often.”

Yeah, neither do I. At least not since I was potty trained.

So needless to say it was a surprise to see who won his fifth “Hardball Award” this week. None other than Hillary Rodham Clinton! He gleefully portrayed her as knowing the art and science of human behavior by being savvy, street smart, grace under fire, knowing what to do, and doing it. Yep, he did! No tingle, but you gotta give the guy some credit.

A quote from the movie Tombstone comes to mind.
“My Hypocrisy knows no bounds.”
Doc Holliday (Val Kilmer)

Matthews can take his Screwball Award and … well … you know.

Comment by Hilary4HRC | 2009-02-20 16:23:27

I too was amazed last night at his gushing over her “savvy” and “moxie” — this comes as a surprise to him? Doc99 — way to make my Friday — LOVE the Tombstone quote …

Comment by NoBamaNoWay | 2009-02-20 20:00:08

he’s a whore, like 95% of the rest of the news-actors.

Comment by trixta | 2009-02-20 21:28:27

Something fishy is going on because Rachel Maddow was also gushing over HRC (esp. over her “cool” coat) when discussing with Andrea Mitchell the SOS’ trip to Japan.

Comment by Linda Anselmi | 2009-02-21 18:18:30

An apt quote Doc99.

Love Tombstone and Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday.

Great cartoon Pat, but I doubt if Hillary cares. It might give her a good laugh. The only thing I can give Priss Matthews credit for is being king of the morons at MSGNY.

Comment by obamastolemyboyfriend | 2009-02-20 15:34:25

Shocking. I would love tweety to shock me even more by someday announcing he backed the wrong horse in the 2008 race!

Comment by Ellen D | 2009-02-20 15:34:50

Nope. No credit for Chris Matthews.

Comment by FranSC | 2009-02-21 14:13:57

Matthews comments yesterday has nothing to do with Hillary – it’s about him and his humiliation at being quoted daily since he made the ‘thrill up my leg’ comment, the fact that he is now considered NOT a journalist, and he is all over YouTube and the web as being sexist, and furiously helping bury the candidacy of the first woman for president that was a viable candidate. In his world it’s called damage control.

I’m convinced Matthews performance in 2008 was to impress his college-age children that were on board the Obama train before Daddy got onboard. He then set out to show them ‘Daddy will make O president for you’.

That scenario applies to many other well-known public figures including the Kennedy’s, Sen McCaskill, Rep Clyburn, etc, who should have been the leader instead of the follower.

Chris Matthews is the biggest sign that journalism in America may R.I.P.

Comment by Steve1 | 2009-02-20 15:49:59

Sorry, no credit for that lazy, excuse of an objective journalist. Now that he has been labeled a coward by Atty Gen- Holder and he sees the charlatan in action. Barry Soetoro. Now he sings praises to Hillary. The asshole! He is still a phony, lazy, corporate controlled puppet. Just like his hero, Barry Soetoro!

Comment by Steve1 | 2009-02-20 15:51:29

Oh, BTW, don’t forget to add an AA this this weekend’s family gathering. You coward!

I agree…and this summer, I suggest going to an all Black beach for a swim!

No awards for Matthews. What a dipshyt hack. I stopped watching MSNBC and CNN months ago.

I hold Matthews responsible as one of the robo-journalists that furthered the demise of the country by endlessly spewing ‘twu-wuve’ for Obama.

He can take his tingly leg and put it in a very dark place.

Comment by oowawa | 2009-02-20 16:08:36

grace under fire

He credits her for showing “grace under fire”? Well gawrsh, where was the “fire” coming from?

Chris, you despicable weasel.

Comment by Clara Barton | 2009-02-20 19:17:48

Bingo, Oowawa. He was a big source of the scorched earth policy to take Hillary out. I won’t watch him anymore, no matter how low on his belly he crawls back to Hillary supporters.

That tingle up his leg was, in reality, just warm evidence that he’s getting a little older and can’t quite control things anymore. Cretin.

Comment by FranSC | 2009-02-21 14:29:26

Speaking of “fire” – it was Andrea Mitchell who grabbed the first microphone she could find to make the biggest deal on earth about Hillary, who jokingly, laughingly, made the comment about the sniper fire.

Mitchell could not wait to tell the world SHE herself was on that trip and ducking for sniper fire didn’t happen. Well, it looked to me like they thought it was a possibility since they had on military clothes.

Oh, Lordy, don’t get me started on that slimmy group of MSNBC pieces of s@#t.

Comment by TeakWoodKite | 2009-02-20 16:22:04

Great art work Pat!

Now all you need is the lamp and Tweety will be yelling “Fragile”!

Ralphie as Adult: [narrating] The snap of a few sparks, a quick whiff of ozone, and the lamp blazed forth in unparalleled glory.
Mr. Parker: Oh, look at that! Will you look at that? Isn’t that glorious? It’s… it’s… it’s indescribably beautiful! It reminds me of the Fourth of July!

Comment by Peggy Sue | 2009-02-20 16:37:11

Loved the graphic, Pat. The magic moment. Maybe that “tingle” was a thrombosis–his over-the-knee socks were too tight.

Although I’m glad CM found it within his constricted heart to say some nice words about HRC, he gets no credit from me. I no longer watch MSNBC and even Matthews’ voice makes me a bit ill. I get a tingle in my throat, a gag reflex.

But thanks for the cartoon.

Comment by gumsnapper | 2009-02-20 16:40:49

He likes her now because she’s part of Obama’s team. Chrissy has serious emotional issues. He’s a buffoon along with Olbermann.

One kind remark about Hillary does not make up for all the venom he spewed for months on end. I wouldn’t trust him as far as you can throw him. And why in the hell is anyone watching msnbc, anyway? Boycott it. It’s pro-Obama non-biased reportage is outrageous. When a news network stops being a government watchdog and instead shills for one party it becomes dangerous to democracy.

Remember when Tweety said his job was to see that this president succeeds? No, Tweety, your job is to watch out for the folks and to keep a watchful eye on the government.

Comment by gumsnapper | 2009-02-20 16:42:54

That should have been “biased” reportage.

Comment by CJ | 2009-02-20 16:41:14

I believe CM is only trying to get his head above water. His ratings have tanked and several times I have heard him say how much flack he caught during the election from women. He’s attempting to swim with the dolphins again! Besides he can’t trash Hillary anymore or else he would be trashing loverboy’s choice naming her SOS. How can he say one minute that Hillary only got as far as she did because her husband had an affair and then suddenly call her savvy and street smart? This is his lame way of trying to gain favor…pathetic!

Comment by Fae | 2009-02-20 16:42:13

No KUDOS to Matthews for his “change of heart”. If he said it, you can be sure it was because his posterior was in deep doo-doo for something and someone was breathing down his cowardly neck.

Several years ago, I sent him a note asking what position he applied for and was refused by the Clinton administration. His hatred for and the vitriol he generally has expressed for the Clintons…most especially, Hillary, knows no bounds.

I think he is a confirmed wuss and hates strong women.

I, like the others, no longer watch MSNBC and that sicko Olbermann and the over-bearing Maddow…..and CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Suzanne Malvaux, Wolf Blitzer, and all the other cheerleaders for Mr. Obama (no matter what he’s been up to), have also lost me as a viewer. They all elected him and when things tank, (and I sure hope they don’t), I doubt they will take responsibility for what they have done.

The spitting buffoon award is what the chemically induced tingle leg should get. pathetic example for journalism, pathetic example of a man. The only credit he should get is for being a cynical, vile, ugly, wasted sorry azz example of a human. I’m in support of those above that say they can’t even stand the sound that comes out of that spitting mouth.

Comment by MOmule | 2009-02-20 17:42:53

Could it be that little Tweetie is going to run for the Senate and has suddenly realized that there are large numbers of women (and men) who have not forgotten his abominable behavior towards HRC. The backpedalling has begun to try to scrape up the votes necessary to let him join our revered leaders! Plus, now Hillary is SOS, if he slams her he is also impugning BO’s choices for the administration. Let’s watch him put his tingle in a dark place – should be amusing to watch.

Very good Cartoon, Pat.

Oh, Chris, you wonderful man.

After beating (battery)and belittling Hillary at every turn, now he has to say he was sorry BECAUSE HILLARY IS SECRETARY OF STATE, and controls one of the largest government agencies and Chris has to be NICE to the department, especially the department head, HILLARY.

He can’t fool anyone. He does not want the “access denied” stamp on his forehead (or is it his leg?).

I refused to watch Mr. Wiffle balls show

All of the show ratings on MSNBC suck

Comment by Don X | 2009-02-20 18:06:28

Another timely clever funny cartoon and message, Pat. As for Tweety, I think the only real thrill he gets is from listening to his own mouth flap as he mindlessly interrupts everyone on his show. If he is serious about his praise for Hillary now, he is mighty late to the show. A bit of a retard, methinks.

Thanks for pointing this out, Pat. I watch “Hardball” every day. I don’t know whether I will end up screaming or smiling, but I always laugh at how Matthews seems to have a new favorite every day. I view it as entertainment.

I think his praise for Hillary was honest and sincere. Like I said, he changes his views constantly, and I think he learned a thing or two about Hillary from the campaign — both hers and the General Election.

I note that he’s also beginning to ask questions about Obama and his administation.

Great toon Pat; made me laugh a lot!! As for his praise for HRC I believe he’s just sucking up to her in case he needs “her people” should he decide to run for office (has he decided yet??). The man is insufferable and HRC doesn’t need “it”(award) or him… Yuck!

Comment by JohnnyB | 2009-02-20 18:52:20

Andy; Said he is not going to run, and signed a new contract with MSNBC. If he was going to run, I was going to move to Penn. to help defeat him in the primaries, along with lots of other Hillary fans.

KUDOS, Pat!

This is my FAV cartoon, so far!

Now, about giving credit to that POS tweety-thug, uh-uh.

I hope his ratings tank and his show is canceled, the sooner the better.

Comment by Clara Barton | 2009-02-20 19:27:46

The entire MSNBC would be flushed and I’d never know it. Even Andrea Mitchell. How’d she end up covering the SoS after her nasty attitude with an edge toward Hillary? I hope there’s no interviews forthcoming from HRC for these losers.

Comment by Jackarooty | 2009-02-20 19:18:24

I love the graphic Pat!

Tweety (or as I refer to him “Spitty”) Matthews is still a SCHMUCK!!!!

Comment by AnneinPA | 2009-02-20 21:07:20

I watched MSNBmisery yesterday to see Andrea Mitchell’s report on Hillary in Asia. She was complimentary too, but you could tell it was like she had eaten a lemon when she was talking about Hillary being like a rock star over there. Gag me,
that’s all I could take. I watched some of the Rachel
Madcow show last night too. Pathetic woman with her
snarky remarks about Bush (get over it, please!) and her adoring love for the Messiah. barf me, never again until she does her last show and signs off with
great regret for her stupidity and unabashed liberal
superiority complex.

Comment by AnneinPA | 2009-02-20 21:11:35

Oh, I forgot to say I will be forever hating Chrissy
Matthews too. He can kiss HRC’s butt on Nat’l TV, but he’ll always be a spitting, wetlipped, tingly legged, sissyboy to me. Creep.

Comment by Benjamin | 2009-02-20 21:26:16

It appears MSNBC is trying to get back some of the millions of viewers – Hillary supporters – that they lost to Fox News during the primaries.

It was a good thing I wasn’t drinking anything. And I have to say two toons in one day is a great way to start the weekend.

Comment by fif | 2009-02-20 23:19:12

The only reason he’s giving her any credit is because her success is a reflection on Obama. He chose her for SOS, so Tweety, being the loyal lackey, has to promote her too now. After all, he said it himself: it’s his JOB to help Obama be a success. I guess he never got he Journalism 101 lecture about a free press and objectivity being critical to a democracy.

Comment by fif | 2009-02-20 23:26:08

Ugh, I just watched the video and it was exactly as I thought: the whole context was based on being a good soldier for Obama. He even had the nerve to talk about the guts it took her to run for the Senate, when she “could have suffered humiliation at the hands of her critics.” Yea, shmuck critics like you. How does he live with himself?

Comment by Rich | 2009-02-21 00:31:44

I loved the cartoon. It needs to be made a monthly award given out to who ever deserves it in any given month. As to Chris Matthews, I never thought of him as a stupid person so I knew at some point wisdom would have to win out over Hollywood infatuation with the new star. It is unfortunate that sometimes wisdom comes too late. I bet Chris is not the only one for whom wisdom came to late when they realized that the warm feeling they were experiencing was the result of someone pissing up their leg.

When I look at the reaction of the public to the stimulus package I get the feeling that the public have also gotten wisdom making it harder for Obama, other politicians, the political machine, and greedy special interest groups to piss on the people and tell them that it is just warm rain that is good for them.

The only award he derves is “World’s Largest @$$hole”.

I wonder if part of the reason Matthews gave Hillary the award is because many people had written to msnbc to denounce and complain about his sexist and hateful remarks about her.
