Into the streets

The eruption of street protests around the country against the “stimulus bill”, as depicted in this video, certainly took me by surprise. I never expected anything like this so soon, if at all.
So what happens next? Is this the start of something that is likely to snowball? Will others take to the streets and join in to swell the voice of protest? Or will it all fizzle out as suddenly as it has begun?
Will the unions be next to protest against the new Administration’s policies, as predicted in this video?
In the past I have seen many protests by people from the left of the political spectrum, but how often do we see scenes like this from… I think it would be wrong to call it the political right, because it is obviously not only Republicans who are protesting against such massive expenditure in a bill that was voted for by people who had no time to read it, let alone digest it. Am I wrong in thinking these street protests are something new?
It will be interesting, to say the least, to see where we go from here. It will also be interesting to see if Youtube allows this video to remain where it is.

“Tea party”? You are so naive. You must be very young. The Republican Party has been guilty of these Mossad-type false flag operations for decades. They are the party of dirty tricks.
Santelli’s call for a “tea party” in Chicago next summer was quickly picked up by a website called ChicagoTeaParty.com and spread from there to the Drudge Report. However, the ChicagoTeaParty.com domain is not new. It was registered last summer by the producer of a right-wing radio show in Chicago and, the writers allege, is one of several tied to the anti-tax group FreedomWorks, which is among the sponsors of the current protests.
FreedomWorks is the latest incarnation of an organization formerly known as Citizens for a Sound Economy, which was founded in 1984 “to anonymously leverage corporate contributions into debates on public policy.” CSE had close ties to Koch Industries and became one of the major recipients of grant money from conservative foundations and major corporations such as Exxon, Philip Morris, and General Motors.
In 2003, CSE’s affiliate, the Citizens for a Strong Economy Foundation, split off and renamed itself Americans for Prosperity. (That group is also a sponsor of the current protests.) CSE itself merged the following year with Empower America — another fake grassroots group created by Republican Party insiders to promote conservative candidates — and formed FreedomWorks.
Posters at Democratic Underground have found that a number of anti-bailout and anti-stimulus groups are hosted by the dedicated servers of Citizens for a Sound Economy. In addition to cse.org, empoweramerica.org, and freedomworks.com, those servers also host such domains as angryrenter.com (which was registered in March 2008 to oppose bailouts for mortgage holders), destimulus.com, earmarkpledge.com, nowallstreetbailout.com, and usteaparty.com.
Playboy Magazine got its undies in a bundle over the nation wide Tea Party protests held last Friday that were inspired by CNBC’s Rick Santelli’s free market rant of February 19. As Noel Sheppard of NewsBusters.org noted on March 1, the skin mag published a piece claiming that Santelli was part of a vast right-wing conspiracy to protest Obama’s socialist policies.
It turns out, however, that the story has been proven false and in response Playboy has mysteriously removed the piece that first raised the question of the grand conspiracy. Happily, the facts have won over on Playboy forcing it to pull down the fallacious story. In its place, all we now get is a “We’re sorry, we couldn’t find the page you requested,” notice.

Yesterday, Playboy.com floated the idea that Rick Santelli’s rant on CNBC wasn’t spontaneous after all, but part of an orchestrated campaign. The Playboy post, since removed, noted that the domain name ChicagoTeaParty.com was registered last August, hinting that it could be related to Santelli.
On CNBC.com, Santell wrote that he has “NO affiliation or association with any of the websites or related tea party movements that have popped up as a result of my comments on February 19th, or to the best of my knowledge any of the people who organized the websites or movements.”
And for anyone who thinks Santelli’s overexposed already since that Feb. 19 rant, you might want to avoid CNBC.com in the coming days.
Santelli writes: “Anyone who has watched my thousands of appearances on CNBC is well acquainted with my aggressive and impassioned style. Over the next several days CNBC.com will put up some of my other passionate broadcasts of the past.”

Oh, I also remember the good old days when I , then a Democrat, believed that Democrats were the good guys. After standing out in the rain on May 31st at the Rules and Bylaws meeting in DC, I learned that both parties use their base to hold power. They say and do what they need to say and do to stay in power. Governance is sometimes a byproduct of their power grab, statesmanship less frequently.

Yes, this story was headlined yesterday at rawstory.com – a website I USED to think highly of until they drank the Obama kool-ade and now think That One can do no wrong. These people actually think that only REPUBLICANS and CORPORATIONS are upset about the stimulus package – that if you’re a Democrat and aren’t supporting it, you’re unpatriotic and treasonous! Remember Obama’s friend Penny Pritzker who advertized the highest interest rate for savings in Chicago (Superior National Bank). She suckered a lot of people into putting their savings into her bank right up to the day the Feds locked her doors? Last night I heard how the GE CEO (friend and economic advisor to Obama) suckered people into buying GE stock by going on national television and telling everyone that GE was going to pay its dividends (good solid old GE lets put our money there) and then three weeks later cut the divident by, what,70%.

It’s great to see, but I’m skeptical that the media will focus on it much. They have their own agenda and going against the president isn’t one of them.
I was at an Iraq protest a couple of years ago in Wash. DC; the crowds of people were massive (100,000 est.) The coverage by the media was a blip on the screen. In fact, the pro-Iraq people got equal coverage and there were only about 1000 participants; you couldn’t tell that on tv. The way it was covered both sides look equal as far as size goes.

I find the argument amongst liberal to defend Obama mistaken and economically stupid spending to be one of the worst intellectually dishonest argument ever, in fact worst than the neco- defense of Bush’s Iraq war.
I’m up for it. I couldn’t attend of Friday (didn’t have childcare for my youngest), but will attend whatever is going on. If we don’t get this snowball rolling quickly, we’ll never be able to undo what these people have done.

I expect Obama to offer her the first available Supreme Court seat. This would effectively neutralize her from politics for good. In the planned future, the judicial branch likely does not wield the power it does today. The executive branch has other plans for that power.

In Washington DC on 10/02/02, 100,000 Americans took to the streets in protest of Bush’s intended war. That was the day Bush got his authorization to invade. On 01/16/03, 200,000 protested in San Francisco, and crowds estimated at several hundred thousand again gathered in DC. On 02/15/03 there was the largest anti-war protest in human history, taking place simultaneously in 800 cities around the globe. The largest protest took place in London, where the crowd was estimated at 2,000,000–1/30 of the entire population of the nation. All of this prior to Bush’s invasion, which began on 03/29/03.
Global protests broke out again the day after Bush invaded. In San Francisco alone, 2,200 anti-war protestors were taken into police custody on 03/30/03. On 04/07/03, Oakland police “peacefully dispersed” anti-war protestors by firing a barrage of rubber bullets into the crowd, injuring a dozen protestors and 6 longshoremen who happened to be nearby.
So far as the media was concerned most of these events–only a tiny fraction of the protests occurring–might as well have not happened.

There were over 40 events last week all across the Nation and they were put together in a matter of days. The Events were in Philadelphia (both Friday and Sat.). Boston, New York, Jacksonville and Orlando Florida, Texas, small Cities like Asheville, North Carolina, big ones like Chicago and San Francisco to name a few and many more big and little Cities in the Midwest. Some of the Events had hundreds of people and some had thousands of folks attending (many in inclement weather).
Those folks that attended to Protest Obama’s (our governments) “Porkulus Plan” and the destruction of our Economy and our Nation included the young and old, affluent and unemployed and folks from the entire political spectrum.
Yes, the Tea Party Protest Events were organized primarily by conservatives; but right now that doesn’t matter; WE NEED TO JOIN TOGETHER WITH THOSE THAT HAVE THE COURAGE TO TAKE A PUBLIC STAND AGAINST THIS CRAZY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT “STIMULUS” PLAN AND THE EQUALLY CRAZY PROPOSED FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BUDGET!!!
We need to add our voices to the upcoming Tea Party Protests being scheduled around the Country for April 15th and July 4th (as well as some more planned for March).
We can go the Events as PUMA’s or Old Grumpy Guys or Grandma’s (that’s me) that are MAD AS HELL AND WE ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!
We can also organize our own Tea Parties; no one says we can’t!!! So PUMA’s it’s easy to sit around and be mad as hell; maybe it is time to take some ACTION!!!
