Another One (Or Two) Bites The Dust

Oh, y’all are gonna love this story. I am sure everyone remembers that our new Secretary of The Treasury is a big ol’ Tax Frauder. So are Tom Daschle, and several other people Obama has nominated for positions – TOP positions – in our government. (I still cannot believe that our Senate approved someone who owed tens of thousands of dollars in back taxes – supposedly fines, too, if he was treated like any other American – hahahaha – I could barely type that out – is in charge of the IRS!!!!!)

Well get this. Oh, this is good. Another one of Obama’s appointees, Vivek Kundra, had two people under him who have been arrested by the FBI. Yes, you read that right, and you can read more here:

An employee of the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer and a private contractor were charged with corruption Thursday after an FBI raid at the former office of one of President Obama’s appointees, Vivek Kundra.

Kundra is on leave from his White House job until further details of the case become known, a White House source tells the Associated Press.

Gee, ya THINK??? Well, then again, int his age of Chicago-style politics gone national, who the hell knows? In Obama’s world, he’ll probably get a PROMOTION or something after this. You know there’s more:

Kundra has not been linked to Thursday’s raid.

Yusuf Acar, 40, acting chief security officer of the D.C. Office of the CTO, was charged with bribery of a public official, money laundering, wire fraud and conflict of interest.

Acar was ordered held without bond until a hearing Tuesday.

FBI agents found $70,000 in Acar’s Northwest D.C. home when they arrested him Thursday morning.

Acar, a native of Turkey, is responsible for buying D.C.’s computer equipment and hiring contract workers for various D.C. agencies. Acar, who has been with the agency since December 2004, has an annual salary of $127,468, according to charging documents.

Sushil Bansal, President and CEO of Advanced Integrated Technologies Corporation (AITC) and a former D.C. government employee, was charged with bribery of a public official, money laundering, wire fraud and conflict of interest.

Bansal, 41, was released but ordered not to engage in overseas financial transactions and had to surrender his passport. Bansal, of Dunn Loring, Va., is due back in court on April 21.

Government records show Bansal, a native of India, is not a U.S. citizen and holds an H-1B visa, which is given to foreign workers in specialty occupations.

Authorities say Acar and Bansal, along with others, used a variety of schemes to defraud the D.C. government, including billing the District for inventory that was never delivered and billing “ghost” contract employees who never worked.

The alleged scheme involved Acar approving falsified bills and then splitting the money with Bansal – who submitted them – and other vendors, according to charging documents.

Wowie zowie. WHO is it that is supposed to be vetting people to work in the White House again? What am I saying – OBAMA was never thoroughly vetted, why should his employees have to be? Ahem. At least the FBI is playing well with others:

The FBI worked with another D.C. Office of the CTO employee who was in on the scheme and secretly recorded conversations with Acar and Bansal as part of the investigation.

Several other individuals and businesses are involved in the alleged schemes, but an FBI affidavit supporting the arrest warrants only identifies them by their initials.

Bansal’s company has offices in D.C. and India and received more than $13 million in business with the D.C. government in the past five years, according to court documents.

One contract involved providing computer support to the D.C. Department of Motor Vehicles. The company also was given a contract to upgrade the city’s human resources computer records and sold virus detection software to the city.

In 2008, Bansal received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Association of Indians in America, according to AITC’s Web site.

Last week, Kundra resigned from his post as D.C. chief technology officer to take a job in the Obama administration as the federal government’s chief information officer.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said the Department of Justice told the White House on Thursday morning of its planned raid.

However, Gibbs declined to comment on whether the White House was aware of the investigation before Thursday.

“No comment! No comment!” That is going to become the new “Words, Just Words!” of the Obama Administration, dontcha think? Gibbs hasn’t been all that inspiring anyway, but boy, oh, boy – when something like this comes down the pike, I’m sure he has to be shoved out to the podium.

And here’s the rest:

AITC has been working with the D.C. government since 2004. Once Kundra took over as D.C. Chief Technology Officer in March 2007, AITC’s contracts doubled to more than $5 million in 2008.

Kundra has also worked for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). During his time at SAIC, Kundra provided consulting services at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

On AITC’s Web site, Bansal lists SAIC as one of AITC’s strategic partners and says his firm has performed contract work for HHS.

On Thursday morning, the FBI served a search warrant at the office of D.C.’s Chief Technology Officer.

More than a dozen FBI agents – including evidence technicians – were at the office, located at 1 Judiciary Square on 4th Street in Northwest.

Most of the employees were told to go home. Other employees were put into a waiting room.

The FBI later expanded its search from 9th floor offices to 10th floor offices.

The 10th floor was closed to the public while the FBI searched the offices that house the Administrative Services Modernization Program.

As the raid took place, Kundra was giving a speech at FOSE – an annual government technology expo – about changing the way the government purchases materials from vendors.

Doesn’t the irony make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Or is that just your blood pressure rising? Kundra is giving a speech about changing the way the government buys stuff from vendors, while his office is being raided! You cannot make this shit up, people. It is almost laughable. Almost.

What happened to the “Change in the way things are done in Washington” meme that we heard about AD NAUSEUM from Obama? I guess the change is that they are just becoming more blatant about hiring a bunch of crooks. Holy smokes. If this keeps up, I’m gonna need a scorecard…

I wonder if there is anyone also looking at a potential espionage angle. Maybe not state secrets, per se, but valuable data.

Also, remember when Leona Helmsley famously said “only little people pay taxes.” ? Well, at the time, everyone thought that was just BS from an over-the-top crazy lady who was overpriveleged.

But, you know, she was on to something. . .

From Larry Summers on Jan 16 2009:

Senate Banking Chair Chris Dodd will not introduce legislation in the Senate to mirror House Finance Chair Barney Frank’s bill, HR 384, to provide increased conditions, transparency and oversight on the second $350 billion of the Wall Street bailout money (otherwise known as TARP).

As such, the funds will be released without any further conditions attached to them. Given that incoming Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has been closely involved with the disbursement TARP funds so far, virtually nothing will change about the program whatsoever. We still won’t know which firms are receiving the money. We still won’t know how that money is being spent.

Amazing isn’t it? Wouldn’t Kundra have –ahem– noticed that their contracts suddenly blossomed?

The “I” word is starting to gain traction:

INCOMPETENT.

No kidding, huh? Like someone wouldn’t ask, “Gee, why are we getting such massive contracts now?” Sheesh.

Great comments, folks!

Last but not Least Larry: See the WP article attached

“FBI agents carted away boxes and envelopes from the Office of the Chief Technology Officer throughout the day.

In court documents, FBI agent Andrew Sekela laid out the complicated and audacious schemes allegedly orchestrated by Acar, a mid-level manager who approved many contracts involving the city government’s technology needs. “

“Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Hibarger told a federal judge that Acar, of Northwest Washington, is a flight risk because agents seized $70,000 in cash in his house and because in recorded conversations, he boasted that he could easily flee to his native Turkey. Acar also told the informant that he could use computers to create fake D.C. birth certificates, Hibarger said. “

MMMMMHH!!!! FAKE BIRTH CERTIFICATES ??? DOES THAT SOUND FAMILIAR IF YOU SAID FAKE BIRTH CERTIFICATES AND OBAMA ???
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/03/13/AR2009031301449.html

“The scam began unraveling in March last year when Acar recruited an unidentified D.C. government employee, an Army veteran who has a master’s degree in electrical engineering, FBI agents wrote.

Over drinks one Friday after work, Acar told the employee about the bribery and kickback operation and how it worked, Sekela wrote. The informant approached the FBI and began wearing a hidden recording device and secretly recording phone conversations involving Acar and Bansal. “

Great article on the buffoon Kundra. You’re right, Obama was not vetted, so why should we be surprised that so many of his hand-picked goons are raising questions about competence, honesty, or both?

Oh, and check out the latest fawning love ode for the Obamas by CNN’s Jack Cafferty. This piece is really unbelievable, and I hope someone here at No Quarter writes something about it. It is seriously nauseating. Hope you get through it without barfing.

I have read that before. These people are truly mentally ill. Cafferty should go work for Entertainment weekly or something. None of these losers do any news!

Here is another one, nauseating. He thinks Obummer is a leader. Really, he does.

What a welcome change to feel like someone is running the country instead of running it into the ground.

President Obama has done more in eight weeks than George W. Bush did in eight years — unless you include starting a couple of wars.

While the armchair quarterbacks second guess the new president, he gets up every day and does things, lots of things.

The rest is worse. Enjoy!!

Amy, let’s cut to the chase here, and start to simplify things! We can save scads of money and improve productivity!
Since leopards don’t change their spots, we might as well put all the jail-birds in D.C.
Then we subjects of the crown could have clean cells, three meals a day, and nap and watch T.V.!

There is no way Obama’s Kundra was NOT aware and part of this massive money laundering scam.

If he didn’t know what was being done to the Company he was in charge of for 2 years, his ass should be history.

BUT, of course he knew and allowed those below him to do the dirty work.

Days after being named as President Obama’s CIO, Vivek Kundra is now on leave, following an FBI search of his previous post and the arrest on bribery, fraud, and money laundering charges of one of his subordinates and a contractor.

…The case seems likely to widen. An FBI affidavit that lays out the details of the alleged corruption scheme identifies only by their initials at least five other individuals who are allegedly involved in the corruption scheme. Two are further identified as being OCTO employees, and a third is identified as “wife of Yusuf Acar,” one of the two men arrested and charged.

http://www.networkworld.com/news/2009/031309-kundra-probe-widens.html?Inform=nl&netht=rn_031309&nladname=031309dailynewspmal

All on the taxpayers back. And, we even have h1b visa holders working for the government and part of this huge scam.

This has widened already to at least 5 more. There is no way Obama’s Kundra is not involved.

Gee, you think all this AIG hype is to take attention away from another one of Obama’s crooks?

I have to say this has got to be the craziest administration since Nixon and his Watergate mess. Next we will be hearing about Biden and some scandal and Obama will be needing a new president.
I think it is time that the media use some of their money to fully investigate Obama, his past, his birth place, his name changes and etc.
Hey look at all the junk they dug up on Palin. I’m sure they could unearth a few scary things on Obama if they haven’t already(sorry but I do have a feeling that there is a lot that the media knows about him but is hiding).
I have a feeling that the public would probably be shocked if Obama’s past was unvieled.

Obama is the biggest fraud ever unleashed on the American people. Obama’s handlers overestimated how much time it would take to begin the process of finding out who he really is.

The birth certificate is the key. It’s just plain BS that Obama’s records can’t be accessed. What’s the motive behind this scam?

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2009-03-17 13:46:18

Good question, Buzz – I’d like to know the answer to that myself!

Doesn’t Obummer know anyone who isn’t a crook? Does he have any associates who can pass even the most cursory inspection? Does anyone in the media think this is a sign that perhaps his much vaunted judgment is a bit off, or totally non-existent? Anyone??

Comment by cathnealon | 2009-03-17 17:04:23

Anyone that’s not a crook refuses to be a part of this administration, it seems. Geithner’s had 4 people say ‘no thanks.’ That ought to tell us something.

Speaking of investigations, anyone know the status of the ACORN investigations? Did they still get $5Billion in the stimulus bill as planned? Why aren’t Obama’s favorite enforcers in jail yet?

Comment by elise | 2009-03-17 22:03:24

H-1B is an interesting Visa. It is my understanding from what I have just read on Wiki, this Visa is granted to people who work in “specialized” areas and have ability to do a job no one else can do. So am I assume it is impossible to find a capable American? I would imagine these are high paying positions so I’m a little confused about why the government of DC feels they must have this man from Turkey to do the job. A few months ago, Bill Gates appeared before a senate committee to ask for an additional 64 of the same type Visas for Microsoft to employ people from other countries. It was particularly galling to us because we have some friends. programmers, telecom specialists who have had difficulties finding jobs since the dot com bust. Where does Obama find these people or who recommends them? If Kundra has taken a temporary leave from the White House ( after serving one week ), does that mean he is under investigation?
