Jordan And The L Words - OPEN THREAD

There has been a request for a photo of our horse, Jordan, and his two buddies, the mini horses, Big Boy (closest to Jordan) and Trinket. He LOVES those little horses, and they love him. When they are in adjoining paddocks, they run up and down the fence line, talk to each other, nuzzle each other, and are generally really cute. Especially because Jordan is 16.2 hh, and the minis, well, aren’t! I might add, Jordan’s health has been much improved, and he is on a daily supplement for a gastric ulcer, which really seems to be helping. Anyway, you know I hate to disappoint, so here they are:

And now for the L Words. No, this is not about the show that recently ended (though I probably could write an entire post about that), but the puppies. There have been requests for photos of them, too. They are now two weeks old. Most of them have their eyes fully open now (as of Sunday and Monday), and they are getting BIG! Here they are in order of birth, with a 10 inch ruler beside them so you can see how long they are now.

And here is the pile of them altogether after their EXHAUSTING photo shoot:

So, when I see reports like the one below on Unity ‘09 (I know, I know - Karl Rove - to say I’m not a fan is an understatement, but hey - he managed to get BUSH elected twice, so that’s saying something):

I can go look at this pack of puppies, listen to their cute sounds, watch them learn to walk, and not have my head explode at what is becoming of our country. I hope that looking at all of this cuteness works for you, too.

Paging Dr. Freud.

3:35 Rush Limburg. Rove think’s he’s cheesy, too? Could be just that Rove think’s of him as a big cheese.

Reminds me of the time some Pub referred to “Nit” Gingrich. From his reaction to the slip I got the impression that Nit was they were in the habit of calling the little alpinist.

think’s ??? Bizarre. Let me know when Dr. Freud shows up - or show’s up as the case may be.

Rev Amy. every creature on this post is adorable, save Karl Rove. But I guess even when his mommy called him Turd Blossom it was with some affection…No it wasn’t! …Yes it was! NO it WASn’t…

Speaking of Karl…wasn’t supposed to “testify” in the House?

Glad to hear your buddy Jordan is on the mend.

“…save Karl Rove.” ROFL!!!

As for the article, yeah, cuteness totally works for me! Thanks!

Great pics of the pups, I can almost smell the sweet musky puppy perfume they produce. The picture of the horse and horsets looks like central Wash. or upstate Idaho. Am I close?

Thank you, Amy! I was just about to send an email to you requesting “more puppies”!

They are so cute and the horses are cuter than cute! I’m so glad that Jordan is feeling better!

I’ll speak for just about everyone here…we love the animals!!!!!

p.s. I have to admit that since the primaries I have enjoyed listening to Karl Rove. FOX is the only cable news network that I watch regularly. He is an incredibly smart man aside from his Bush s@#%t!

I always call this the rump roast phase. They get really fun pretty soon. Don’t feed them until you really need to, so mom cleans up for them as long as possible. People always ask me how I can sell my puppies because its so easy to get attached to them all. The answer is “poop”. Enjoy your babies.

Awwwww….they’re all so beautiful, RRRAmy. And, babies like Jordan, the minis, and the pups are THERAPEUTIC indeed. I have my own pack of therapists, who give me the loving perspective I need, too.

Bless you and yours :-)

I had a good chuckle when the whole Rush/Obama thing came out. There’s humor in the fact that the Obama administration decided to equate themselves to an extreme radio personality.

Rev. Amy, Looks like you have a very peaceful place to call home.

Thank you, I do (the stables are abt 25 min. away from me).

Sorry, Andrew - I live in Coastal SC, on a tidal creek close to the ocean. The pine trees at the stables probably threw you..

Jackarooty, happy to oblige! They are getting to the point where they are learning to walk - it is funny and cute all at the same time!

Thanks, y’all - I am so glad you are animal lovers. It really has been a source of comfort during this past election, and will be for the next 4 yrs to come…

Adorable critters, Amy!! Currently, I have eight horses, all Thoroughbreds, mostly retired race horses. And I am bottle-feeding a kitten whose mom left him on my back porch, with his umbilical still attached. Little bugger eats about every three or four hours which makes getting a full night’s sleep improbable for a while. Here is a tip for your horse with ulcers. Try putting him on beet pulp. It has a good bit of calcium in it which neutralizes the stomach acid and it also soaks up the stomach acid and gets it safely out of the stomach. I was able to heal up a bad case of ulcers without having to give Gastro-Guard at all. And when I told the vet at the training center about it, she put several of her ulcer patients on it which cut way back on the expense of treating ulcers. Some were able to get off Gastro-Guard entirely, others only needed it on days when they didn’t give beet pulp..ie two days before racing. Beet pulp is a forage feed and should be fed soaked since dry beet pulp can cause choke. I feed it to all my horses, year round. Oh, and here is a link to one of the funniest stories I have ever read, it’s about beet pulp, and a squirrel. Enjoy!!

Thanks for the link, FL! I appreciate it!

Cool abt your 8 - that is wonderful (Jordan was a hunter/jumper). Are these the ones on which you give lessons? Or are they retired from work in general?

Oh, dear abt the kitten. Yeah, I imagine that IS keeping you from getting a good night’s sleep. And then you have to take care of the horses and stables all day, right?

Jordan does get beet pulp. You may recall he had colic, and it was then that they realized he had been dealing with a gastric ulcer for a while. They put him on wicked expensive meds (like $300 a bottle - I’m sure you know what I’m talking abt) for a month or so to calm it down initially, and that worked. Now, besides the beet pulp (which he gets twice a day in his grain), he gets G.U.T. That has really worked for him.

Good luck with that kitten!

Hey - can we see photos of YOUR horses?

Being in Florida has the advantage of not needing to stable them. I have a ten stall barn, in case of hurricanes or illness, but if it’s not a hurricane and they are healthy and sound, they stay out in the pasture 24/7. Makes stable work really easy….hehehe. I drag the pastures every couple of months in winter, at least once a month in summer and that’s it for “stable work”. I feed once a day, in the evening, and the rest of the time, I just watch them out the windows. The two colts are separated, with one in the house yard and adjoining paddocks and the other across the fence. They were fighting too much, so I separated them.
Will try to post a pic..here goes..

Darnit - I can’t see it!

Well, that sounds pretty good, FL - there is nothing I would love more than to be able to watch the horses from my living room. Sweet!!

And colts - what FUN!!!!

Listen, if you can’t get the photos to show up here, could you send them to SusanUnPC at gmail dot com? She LOVES getting photos like that! :-D

Thanks Rev Amy! My son & I are home sick with the most wretched flu, but looking at the puppies & horses made us smile (first time in 3 days)!

Oh RRRA -

Love those puppies. They are sooooo adorable. A couple look like they are getting plump. Any clues yet as the who and what the father was?

Well, thats two weeks down and only another 5 more to go?
