It’s a good thing I don’t have a Deadwood-style lady’s pistol because I would have aimed it right at Chris Matthews on my teevee set. He said that the Obama administration found out about the bonuses last Tuesday. For the love of Pete. Geithner himself was in charge of creating the fucking deal in Fall 2008, you masturbatory Obamerotica tingler whose brain is south of your waistline in your short, scrawny middle appendage. March 16, Tapper went after Gibbs on what the Obama admin knew, and when they knew it.
“TAPPER: You guys first found about these bonuses last week?
GIBBS: I think that’s true, based on what I read in the newspaper.”
March 17, Tapper reported that WH officials knew about the bonuses two weeks ago.
“It wasn’t until Thursday, March 5, 2009, administration sources told ABC News, that officials of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York informed officials of the Treasury Department of the full extent of the $165 million in bonuses pending for the controversial Financial Products Subsidiary.
This was three days after the Obama administration had already announced a new commitment of an additional $30 billion for AIG.”
And March 16, Tapper reported: White House Says It’s Confident It Knows What Happened to Previous AIG Billions
“From White House press secretary Robert Gibbs’ briefing two weeks ago, when $30 billion in additional funds were announced for AIG. AIG had at this point designated $165 million in retention bonuses for officers of the Financial Products subsidiary, as well as an additional $121.5 million in executive bonuses.”
Salon.com reports that the WH is trying to make Dodd the fall guy. The dishonest “Blame Dodd” scheme from Treasury officials
“It was Obama officials, not Dodd, who demanded that already-vested bonus payments be exempted.”
FOX just reported, “Dodd’s original amendment did not include that exemption, and the Connecticut Senator denied inserting the provision.
“I can’t point a finger at someone who was responsible for putting those dates in,” Dodd told FOX. “I can tell you this much, when my language left the senate, it did not include it. When it came back, it did.”
“Because of negotiations with the Treasury Department and the bill Conferees, several modifications were made,” Dodd Spokesperson Kate Szostak in a response to FOX Business.
There is a lot of finger pointing, covering up, and faux outrage being thrown around. But one thing seems obvious. This is yet another instance, where Dodd and Obama were top recipients of donations from companies that caused major financial problems for America. Coincidence?
So, what’s a new President to do, when he finds himself in hot water, and completely in over his head, facing dropping poll numbers, and a growing number of outraged Americans?
Appear on Jay Leno, of course.

Teachers, police and support services are getting pink slips and they let these big million dollar bonuses go through. It reminds me of the tech bubble CRASH (the other time our IRAs took a hit) when the executives gave themselves 20 and 40 million severance packages right before the companies went broke. Obama Received a $101,332 Bonus from AIG

Senator Barack Obama received a $101,332 bonus from American International Group in the form of political contributions according to Opensecrets.org. The two biggest Congressional recipients of bonuses from the A.I.G. are – Senators Chris Dodd and Senator Barack Obama.
The A.I.G. Financial Products affiliate of A.I.G. gave out $136,928, the most of any AIG affiliate, in the 2008 cycle. I would note that A.I.G.’s financial products division is the unit that wrote trillions of dollars’ worth of credit-default swaps and “misjudged” the risk.
The Washington Post reports a “mob effect” at A.I.G financial products division:
A tidal wave of public outrage over bonus payments swamped American International Group yesterday. Hired guards stood watch outside the suburban Connecticut offices of AIG Financial Products, the division whose exotic derivatives brought the insurance giant to the brink of collapse last year. Inside, death threats and angry letters flooded e-mail inboxes. Irate callers lit up the phone lines. Senior managers submitted their resignations. Some employees didn’t show up at all.
With the anger and rage that is being exhibited against A.I.G., perhaps the bonuses Obama received from A.I.G. explain Obama’s A.I.G crocodile tears.
Now that the Wall street Journal has revealed that A.I.G. paid bonuses of $1 million or more to 73 employees, it’s time to ask if recipients of A.I.G. “bonuses,” including President Obama, will give what now ought to be taxpayer money back?

The program has provoked public protests from a handful of critics and at least one Democratic lawmaker in Congress — Representative Elijah E. Cummings of Maryland, a member of the House Committee on Government Oversight, who demanded without success in December that A.I.G. provide information about the bonuses
Mr. Cummings said he had been communicating regularly with A.I.G.’s chief executive, Edward M. Liddy, about the bonuses ever since December. Mr. Cummings said he was particularly concerned that the bonuses were supposed to be paid by March 15, adding that he assumed Treasury officials had the same worries.
“I assumed that they were well aware of it and would take appropriate action” before the March 15 deadline, Mr. Cummings said. “In light of the biggest quarterly loss in history, you would think that A.I.G. and Mr. Liddy would have been able to convince folks who were supposed to be getting these retention payments, based at least in part on performance, that they might want to voluntarily not take all or part of them.”
Treasury and Fed officials said they knew that A.I.G. paid $55 million in bonuses in December.
But administration officials said that the Treasury secretary, Timothy F. Geithner, did not personally become aware until last week that an even bigger round of payments was due on March 15.
Administration officials said Mr. Geithner learned of the deadline early last week, when the Federal Reserve Bank of New York alerted him that the bonus payments were coming due.

The NYTimes has already reported — back on November 25, 2008 — that Geithner was in charge of the entire deal and he sure as hell DID know about the executive compensation. He was also behind the Watergate break-in, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the assassination of Prince Ferdinand, the Lindbergh kidnapping, the crash of the Hindenburg, and was an un-named co-conspirator in the theft of the North Pole by Crabby Appleton (for Tom Terrific fans).

Histrionics??? Is that what it’s called? I can’t believe how Obama is songing and dancing over AIG, one of his larger campaign financers! It is totally bizarre, like watching a TV show, which I suppose it is. It just gets weirder by the minute watching these guys stamp their feet while it is total hypocrisy right in our faces. Why don’t people comprehend this? He signs a couple of bills and reverses some actions that he never had anything to do with to appease the masses I suppose and now Jay Leno? Yeah, a star is born or something. Entertain us so we don’t notice, keep our blinders on? The AIG buck stops with him? Invoking Alexander Hamilton as similar to Tim Geithner? GIVE ME A BREAK!! I’m sick of BO acting out like he’s Abraham Lincoln when he’s a free market, pro Wall Street hack. Noam Chomsky was right when he said Summers and Geithner in charge of the Treasury is like putting the Taliban in charge of the war on terror. And so it goes.
I am learning that when the ‘faux rage’ and finger pointing is going on, there is something else one might need to know…I saw this on the Hot Air blog.
