off with their heads!

I think Glenn Beck raises some excellent points in these two videos. The government, people like Dodd and Grassley, are trying to raise a mob to go after the AIG employees who took the bonuses. Grassley even said they should commit suicide…. Quit sending the rabid dogs after the AIG employees!

Government is buying you off.

If anyone is going to raise an angry mob, and scream *off with their heads!* at anyone, it is the American people on Washington. The fault lies with Washington. Those who granted the bailouts, those who wrote the loopholes for those bonuses, those who didn’t monitor what was happening with the bailout money, and those who claimed to know what was happening with the money, and granted even more bailout money. Watch this video.

That’s not to say there aren’t some at AIG guilty of mismanagement, or that some big wigs worked with the Treasury Department to ensure those bonuses remained. They have some responsibility in this financial mess, but we elect Congress, and the President, to spend our money wisely. They failed. They lied. And they are trying to cover it up, and create distractions.

Mob rule in Washington.

The bad guys aren’t those at AIG. The bad guys are in Washington. They are lying, covering up, and creating distractions (see my post obama hypocrisy watch). They are either the most corrupt or the most stupid people, ever.

Case in point - this little tidbit of Breaking News!

At least 13 firms receiving billions of dollars in bailout money owe a total of more than $220 million in unpaid federal taxes, a key lawmaker said Thursday.

Rep. John Lewis, chairman of a House subcommittee overseeing the federal bailout, said two firms owe more than $100 million apiece.

Banks and other firms receiving federal money were required to sign contracts stating they had no unpaid taxes, Lewis said. But he said the Treasury Department did not ask them to turn over their tax records.

Washington is granting all these bailouts, with tax payer’s money, and these companies owe MILLIONS in back taxes. Stop the insanity!!!

Here is a bonus video, which touches on some of what I wrote about the other day, in my piece president bamboozler.

For Obama it’s politics over principle.

There is obviously a whole of Congressional grandstanding going on either to gain political advantage and/or in some cases to cover their own tracks.

The Congressional outrage is getting a bit tedious. Why don’t they just fix things and move on — is that maybe because they don’t know how?

It’s much easier than that–they keep the pot roiling while the public is riveted to it, and, in the meantime they rob us blind. Bush did it and That One is also doing it. Different day, same kind of POTUS.

American Girl in Italy:

You are right on target: The blamers are putting the blame on others. It’s all about money. BIG money. So where does BIG money go? To the Big companies that “…we can’t let fail”.

This will turn our economy around? Give us all jobs again? Help us export products and services? Not unless you work for one of the Big companies, or happen to be in the weapons/war business.

The AIG bonus story is a smokescreen. Just under 1% of the money AIG received went out to this group of employees in bonuses. Where did the other 99% go?

I’ve been trying to come up with a plan to turn the economy around. The only one I can think of is that the Earth is being invaded by a force from another galaxy. We all band together to defeat them. Fight Global Warming? The end of Earth is near, maybe that will unite us.

All the stooges at AIG are part of the problem also. Incompetents that drive a company into the ground SHOULD NOT BE REWARDED!

Comment by sarainitaly | 2009-03-19 16:56:16

no, but you are assuming that every single person who recieved a bonus was incompetant.

and i agree, when people are being laid off, tax payer money should NOT be used to pay them bonuses.

But that was the responsibility of those we elect, to spend our tax money wisely. They didn’t. They ALLOWED these companies to get their bonuses. And the people that ALLOWED this to happen are the biggest recipients of money from AIG. And then they lied about it, adn tried to cover it up, and then acted with all this faux outrage.

The people receiving the bonuses didn’t grant themselves the bonuses. Wasn’t their decision. Nor did they know when they agreed to the terms they were signing up for a political firestorm.

Yes it is misdirected anger.

Comment by ziggy | 2009-03-19 15:04:51

What’s misdirected about it? Weren’t the people getting the bonuses the very people who helped run AIG into the ground? For what, exactly, are they being rewarded with a distribution of millions of dollars of taxpayer money?

Comment by Ferd Berfle | 2009-03-19 15:32:09

It is a contractual issue which wasn’t addressed in the bailout, moron. Perhaps if your Adored One and his henchmen, such as you, zippy, had actually done the homework instead of partying, this might not have happened.

Just how stupid are you, troll?

Commercial contracts are as breakable as wedding vows.

Tell ‘em, “I’ve moved on,” and, “things have changed,” and let them evaluate the cost vs. benefit in litigating against the government.

Comment by Ferd Berfle | 2009-03-19 18:40:19

There is no provision in the law to do it. They can’t just decree that the bonuses won’t be handed out unless the bill specifically said so, which it didn’t. The law is the law.

Comment by Snickers | 2009-03-20 04:48:28

funny how the autoworkers contract can be renegotiated but AIG bonuses are sacrosanct. Gawd! If the electorate had had a brain this election. Or even half a brain, we wouldn’t have this incompetent comedian wannabe in charge. I actually thought that Frank and Pelosi might be voted out this last time. So much for expecting the electorate to do the right thing. I voted against my Party this year (and changed affiliation), could voters in N. The economic meltdown is not just a Democratic problem. Bush had plenty to do with it. We’ll never get the country on a positive track if conservatives insist on blaming every bad episode on the opposition. Someone in a thread downstairs said they are so tired of hearing Obama blame Bush for everything. The Republicans are now blaming the Democrats for everything. Comment by tek | 2009-03-19 15:08:10

First of all, the bad guys are at AIG. Second of all, the bonuses could have been negotiated out of the bailout if AIG or anybody else wanted the public funds. Contracts? How about asking your employees do they want to have a job? Then waive the bonuses. I’m not sure why Americans tend to be so lenient and permissive with corporate executives and corporations period. If we aren’t lenient with lower-class crime we shouldn’t be dismissive of white-collar crime. These people have broken the law and that’s why their losing their companies. Everyone in society needs to be regulated. Average people are regulated by laws and rules, businesses certainly need to be regulated.

Comment by sarainitaly | 2009-03-19 15:45:33

the company was in financial dire straights, they went to congress and asked for money. who wouldn’t?

why would they voluntarily take out their bonuses? it was up to the people giving them money to ask how it was going to be spent, and NOT write in loopholes, letting them keep the bonuses.

i’m not saying there aren’t any corrupt people at AIG. But, to form a posse, and tell these employees to kill themselves is wrong. The company acted in their best interest, and the governement let them. We vote for Congress, not employees at AIG.

What laws did AIG break? there weren’t any regulations.

http://open.salon.com/blog/chris_macdonald/2009/03/16/aig_bonuses_ethics_and_the_rule_of_law

Comment by Ferd Berfle | 2009-03-19 15:50:40

That is the key. The issue of bonuses was not addressed by the bill. Perhaps that is why it wasn’t available until after it was passed and signed.

Comment by Lyn | 2009-03-19 15:58:37

It probably WAS addressed, they wanted to make sure they still got their bonuses so they would have money to donate to Dodd, Obama, Bacausses campaign. They just got “outraged” when the public found out and rised a stink.

Comment by Ferd Berfle | 2009-03-19 16:04:13

According to my wife, the issue of bonuses was not specifically addressed in the bill. Without specifics, it would then be up to the be up to the Administration. Either way, the Democrats are at fault.

Comment by Lyn | 2009-03-19 16:24:53

no I meant it probably was addressed between them as they sat around talking the best way to screw US over

Comment by Ferd Berfle | 2009-03-19 16:07:29

On second thought, if bonuses were addressed and were not to be given, then legal (criminal) action could be taken. I see none of that happening, ergo–it was not addressed. The Democrats got too cute on this one.

Comment by sarainitaly | 2009-03-19 16:34:48

the provision was added to the bill, via Dodd, to allow for the bonuses.

Here Dodd blames his adding the loophole on Obama administration:

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=aT_tMXRy2vDs

They knew about them, and they allowed them. That is why I believe the *bad guy* is not AIG, but the WH, and washington.

Comment by Lyn | 2009-03-19 16:48:39

the governement should have let them file chapter 11, and wipe away all those bonuses. Companies give bonuses…. Haven’t you ever worked for a company that gave bonuses? People consider bonuses as part of their salary. Maybe many of these people did exceptional jobs - and suffered because of the fault of a few.

Congress/WH/treasury failed by not doing something about those bonuses.

I’m not saying I am happy about them getting bonuses with tax payer money. But forming a lynch mob to go after THEM is wrong. They aren’t the ones we should be pissed at.

Comment by Docelder | 2009-03-19 16:39:50

Yes, that is the truth. When we went into business with AIG it was a mistake and has clouded everything. Business should be allowed to make it or not on their own merits… to do otherwise is unfair to the other businesses. How can businesses compete with government subsidized competitors? It is unfair to ask it of them.

Comment by Ferd Berfle | 2009-03-19 16:59:58

More significantly, Obama wants sweeping powers to have his toxic legislative mess passed in Congress. Instead of having the necessary 60 votes, all the Democrats would need is a simple majority.

Impeach Obama and throw the corrupt Democrats out!

Glenn Beck is right about civil unrest and instability in this country.

Preparing for Civil Unrest in America

Legislation to Establish Internment Camps on US Military Bases

By Michel Chossudovsky

Obama’s populist rhetoric conceals the true nature of macro-economic policy. Acting on behalf of Wall Street, the administration’s economic package, which includes close to a trillion dollar “aid” package for the financial services industry, coupled with massive austerity measures, contributes to precipitating America into a bottomless crisis.

To any bot out there lurking (cynic, e.g.): Where is your outrage at the democrats today? By your silence are you saying that a corrupt Democrat is different, or even better, than a corrupt Republican? Your selective indignation is awe-inspiring–you can hold two diametrically-opposed positions simultaneously and not blush.

LMAO at the obamabots who, so far, have not dared tread here.

Comment by ziggy | 2009-03-19 17:18:58

Sorry, I’ve only got so much outrage allocated for any given day. I’m currently busy being outraged at Glenn Beck, who is at this moment excitedly telling America that every damn dollar we own will soon be totally worthless.

Maybe he can single-handedly produce enough panic to push the DOW back down into the 6000s before the end of the trading week. That would certainly be helpful.

Comment by Lyn | 2009-03-19 17:24:07

Isn’t that Obama’s job?

Comment by ziggy | 2009-03-19 17:33:35

Right. I keep forgetting it’s Obama’s job to destroy confidence and tank the economy.

So… This coming currency catastrophe, Beck tells us, is why people are deserting the dollar and buying gold. He yammers on for 5 more minutes, and then FOX cuts away to a commercial break.

And there we have G. Gordon Lidy, fondling a gold bar, and telling us we’d better call Rosland Capital…

Comment by Ferd Berfle | 2009-03-19 17:39:08

You and the entire bot collective, including all your fantasy-world, fuzzy ideas and even fuzzier math skills, wouldn’t fill up a good -sized chair.

Comment by ziggy | 2009-03-19 17:52:41

Oh yeah. It’s obviously stupid to suggest that people openly promoting panic on a daily basis might have a more negative effect on the markets than those who are making an effort to reassure the public and hold things together. I can certainly see that.

Comment by Ziggy's Long-Suffering Mom | 2009-03-19 18:08:10

That One promotes panic every time he opens his gaping maw. I didn’t hear your protestations then, shill. Oh, I forgot, you’re a selectively indignant moron.

You are such a toadie, zippy.

Comment by ziggy | 2009-03-19 18:27:45

At least I don’t inhabit some delusional construct in orbit around One Hated Political Figure, oscillating between the poles of rage and depression. I’ll let you in on a little secret: Obama Worship is largely in your own imagination. It’s just a shadow, projected as the antithesis of your own hatred. If I say something about Obama is OK, you seem to think I’m singing Hallelujahs. So sayeth this 5-dollar-per-hour, Kool Aide sipping toadie–who simply thinks of himself as a moderate democrat with a few opinions.

LMAO. Delusional? Hahahahahaha

Wow, are you ever a hyperbolic POS. Look, Drippy, at least we don’t inhabit some idyllic world where the Anointed One has his feet and backside smooched 24/7 by a group of bots led by a lunkhead named Zippy who couldn’t find his own sanity with a map, flashlight, two hands, a compass, and a GPS unit. You are so far up your Master’s netherworld that they have to pump light in for you to find the correct parts to perform said smooching.

Who was running around like Chicken Little screaming doom and Goom would befall us all IF the Stim Bill was NOT signed immeadiately with NO time to read it?

“saying this is not your “run-of-the-mill recession.”
President Obama urged Congress “to act without delay” on his economic stimulus plan.
The president stressed the urgency of passing the roughly $838 billion measure, which his administration and Democratic leaders say will help pull the U.S. economy out of its current skid

Wow, you go one and on about a blathering commentator while That One is fiddling in the new Rome, which is dry as a tinderbox. You are such a useless obamabot and an idiot, too. You’re off the Kool-Aide for a month, little sodden one.

Save your fauxrage for the assholes in DC who are pointing their fingers at their STAFF!!!!

Last time I looked, Glenn Beck has a television program with no more impact on the value of currency than you. Your fauxrage is a little out of proportion to the real problem.

Todays Glenn Beck show is the true eye opener.
Yesterday there was all the AIG talk and while the treasury printed over a trillion dollars ( buying our own security bonds). This is the last ditch effort made to keep our country out of a depression.
Smokescreens are covering this serious crisis.

Comment by ziggy | 2009-03-19 17:41:44

Better call Rosland Capital quick! They’ll take your soon-to-be-worthless dollars off your hands, and send you some highly useful yellow metal. They’re doing this as a public service. They don’t care that your paper money isn’t worth squat.

Comment by Ziggy's Long-Suffering Mom | 2009-03-19 17:58:01

Zigfield, why are you on my computer bothering the adults on No Quarter when I distinctly remember asking you to clean the catboxes, take out the trash, and clean up that hazardous weste site you call a room? Landsakes child, I’m up here working my fingers to the bone while you play around in the basement instead of doing your chores and homework. You’re going to be as worthless as your older brother, Cynicious. And those damn empty cheeto bags are starting to bring cockroaches. And don’t get me started on your lack of bathing.

Thought I’d share this local story. Mayor Nutter of Philly is hunting down all the big dogs that are too big to pay taxes.

http://thebulletin.us/articles/2009/03/18/news/local_state/doc49b8fc1097fa7263442928.txt

I’d like to know if we were the only three people in the entire city who owe back taxes,” said Mr. Gamburg.

“We picked this place because it’s the place we picked,” Mr. Nutter said in response. “We could have picked any number of people.”

“I’m in the process of a payment arrangement with the city,” Mr. Gamburg said to the mayor.

“I’m not going to argue with you on the sidewalk,” the mayor replied. “You owe the city money. Pay your taxes.”

do you live in philly or the burbs? we live in South Jersey

Comment by Boxer Mum 06 | 2009-03-19 17:34:30

I live in the burbs - Mont County

What I’m learning about Nutter, I love this guy! I saw him with Rendell at the last Hillary rally b/4 the primary and it’s obvious the two get along well.

I have great hopes that he will help Philly - it will be a rocky road to repair all of the mess Street left but Nutter appears to be the guy to do it.

Comment by Lyn | 2009-03-19 17:50:31

Me too, I had so much respect for him when he supported Hillary and was catching so much hell for it , they crashed his emails, jammed his phones lines just because
