It’s March Madness No Quarter-Style. Help us Determine the Biggest Ass on the American Political Landscape.

(Bumped up from Thursday evening. JOIN IN THE FUN! This is a riot! - Susan)

It’s that time of year. If you are one of the lucky Americans still working in an office atmosphere, you probably have been inundated with bracket contests tied to the NCAA Tournament. I love the tournament and watch those games religiously, but here at No Quarter we deal with more serious fare and not everyone is a sports fan. So on Tuesday night’s edition of the Nocturnal Warrior Show on No Quarter Radio, we created a tournament of our own. You can listen to the show here (I highly recommend it; it was one of our better efforts.)

We revealed a field of 64 participants vying for the No Quarter Trophy. Our National Champion will be the person you pick as the Biggest Ass on the American Political Landscape.

We’ve broken the field in four brackets seeded 1 through 16 and have determined the matchups accordingly. All you have to do is tell us who you think is the winner of each matchup.

This will be a round by round affair. You can list your winners in the comment sections here or e-mail them to me at nocturnalwarriorshow@gmail.com. First-round winners will be announced on next Tuesday night’s Nocturnal Warrior Show. Feel free to submit all of your logic for making your picks.

So without further ado, here are the matchups.

Aw, how can you have Jeremiah Wright defeat Brazile? Although Wright is an America-hating racist, he’s probably the only honest person on the list! Recall his line: “Obama says what he has to say as a politician; I say what I have to say as a preacher.”

Comment by Dawnelle | 2009-03-20 10:16:34

wright like a broken clock can be correct a couple times a day

wright also said the white race created aides
and that this was the US of KKKA

he lies when it’s convenient
like most AS*HOLES

TT i LIKE YOUR LIST

So never having played this, but having enjoyed your show, can somebody fill me in on how to pick the first round etc?

Do I pick one from each catagory or is the “seed” ranking to be considered?

The only basketball game I’ve seen live as a kid, was the Harlem Globe Trotters play LA, the ball handling blew me away.

Comment by Jay L | 2009-03-19 22:22:28

Teak,

Just pick who you think the bigger ass is in each match up.

Warrior will tally the votes and then we get our second round matchups.

I hope you enjoyed last week’s show.

I hope I’m doing this right and picking who I think is the bigger “A”. Although I don’t understand why some of these people are on this list. I wouldn’t consider President Clinton to be one. Some of these were a tough pick. Plus I’m still angry at a lot of Democrats for their treatment of Hillary, so not sure if I picked them for that, or if I really think they’re being the bigger “A” right now.

This may be cheating, but can’t we just cut to the chase and imagine the finals: a one-on-one matchup between The One, of course, and his chief idolator, Tingle-Leg Matthews. Seeing Tweety will be genuflecting through much of the contest, I don’t imagine His Highness will have any trouble slam-dunking big scores over Matthews prostrate body.

If only Big Ann Coulter could make it to the finals against the Mighty O, we might have a contest worth watching.

What the Hell, I’m fast forwarding to the final four. Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and Olberman. I think the final will be between Obama and Olberman (The “O’s”). Obama will take an early lead with a strong blame everyone else defense, But Olberman will chip away at the lead with offensive nastiness and cheap shots when the refs aren’t looking. It may go into overtime with both competitors locked into a bizarre reverse 69 ass-kissing posture, from which Olberman will emerge with the browner nose and be declared the victor.

Odds makers have yet to establish a point spread, and they may not bother to do so. The only people left with any money to gamble with are members of Congress, and the odds makers can’t figure out how to make them greater losers than they are already.

Comment by JustMe~~ | 2009-03-20 00:24:04

LOL good commentary…..
Worth watching, apart from the 69ers….

Comment by Benjamin | 2009-03-20 02:42:01

I would go with the chalk as well - and Obama would definitely be crowned National Champion. But I really feel Bush should be in a separate bracket than Obama, since he’s Final Four material as well.

Brilliant idea, Rob! The competition is incredibly intense, but I gave it my best guesses:

White House Bracket
B. Obama—the ‘Baminator, obviously. (This is the only time I have cheered for him to win anything.) He’s number one (use middle finger, just like he taught us!).
Gibbs—because Biden is only dumb but Gibbs is abjectly shameless
Bush—for paving the way to absolute corruption
Geithner—for attaining unequivocal perfection…in idiocy
Carter—for still thinking he’s a good ole boy, at least Rahm doesn’t play that silly game
Powell—incomprehensible boneheadedness wins out over simple pure evil
Axelrod—malevolent deception incarnate
M. Obama—for recreating The Inferno in her own mind, just with more circles than Dante’s

Capitol Hill Bracket
Pelosi—for her consistency in ignorance and incompetence
Rangel—for lounging around and getting up only to say asinine things
McCaskill—for allowing her children to choose her primary candidate for her
Coleman—because Boehner is a hero
E. Kennedy—public leech numero uno
Frank—frankly the worst congressman ever
Kerry—can’t stop being a looser
Reid—screwing the public instead of just himself

Media Bracket
Couric—we all know about Doberman, but Couric is a dangerous kind of sneaky
Kristol—who is not supposed to dupe people for a living like Morris
Coulter—vile hatred embodied
Maddow—the Mad Cow Beast
Huffington—for prostituting her intellect
Dowd—UNFORGIVABLE
Klein—with his help, Time now ranks below the National Enquirer
Sullivan—who knows nothing about wombs and should shut up about them

At Large Bracket
Matthews—screwing an entire country is a much worse crime, and tingly-er
Ayers—Come on! Blago never blew anyone up.
Edwards—for not paying enough attention to his seed. What a jerk.
Brazile—they both talk too much but Donna actively squelched others’ voices
Richardson—whose proper place would be as a manager at Arby’s (h/t Hillbuzz)
Daschle—proven cheaters always win!
Dean—‘totalitarian in our midst’ wins out over opportunist
Winfrey—her blinders must be even bigger than Kaine’s, if that’s even possible

Well, before I vote, I think I must protest these brackets. There’s no way Bush and Obama should be in the same bracket. Bush and Obama would BOTH have to be top seeds, since they would BOTH be in my Final Four, and perhaps should go head to head for the National Title.

I really think Bob Herbert of the NYT should be an at large pick in the Media bracket. Recall - he was the guy who wrote a piece comparing Hillary’s campaign to the campaign of George Wallace. He then later wrote another article accusing McCain of running a George Wallace campaign as well.

Remember when this site used to pretend to be liberal/pro Democrats?

Comment by Benjamin | 2009-03-20 03:53:50

You won’t find many fans of either Bush or Obama here. This site has evolved into one that opposes lying, hypocrisy, corruption, greed and incompetence in our elected officials, whether they have a (D) or an (R) next to their name.

Why are so many picking Ann? I know Ann has said a lot of hateful things, but I think she’s been pretty spot on lately. Although that would be one heck of a battle, her and Obama. I think I’d pay to see that.

I think what Laura said about Meghan McCain(sp?) was asinine. I felt that anger welling up. It reminded me of the primaries all over again with Hillary and Sarah. Just because Meghan isn’t far right. A woman attacking another woman over her looks? What does her weight have to do with who she is as a person? Like her or not she probably is the voice of a lot of young adults that are tired of the back and forth and like so many want a government that works together for the people. Not the far right or the far left.

I don’t watch basketball because I don’t like it. I do watch politics, politicians and pundidiots and I don’t much like them either. Anyway here’s my picks and in some cases the reason why.

White House Bracket

1st Seed Barack Obama vs. 16th Seed Bill Clinton
BARACK OBAMA
8th Seed Joe Biden vs. 9th Seed Robert Gibbs
JOE BIDEN
5th Seed George W. Bush vs. 12th Seed Lawrence Summers
LAWRENCE SUMMERS
4th Seed Timothy Geithner vs. 13th Seed Susan Rice
TIMOTHY GEITHNER
6th Seed Rahm Emanuel vs. 11th Seed Jimmy Carter
RAHM EMANUEL
3rd Seed Dick Cheney vs. 14th Seed Colin Powell
DICK CHENEY
7th Seed David Axelrod vs. 10th Seed Eric Holder
DAVID AXELROD
2nd Seed Michelle Obama vs. 15th Seed Condoleeza Rice
MICHELLE OBAMA
Capitol Hill Bracket
1st Seed Nancy Pelosi vs. 16th Seed Christopher Dodd
NANCY PELOSI
8th Seed Charles Rangel vs. 9th Seed Mitch McConnel
CHARLES RANGEL
5th Seed Chuck Schumer vs. 12th Seed Claire McCaskill
CHUCK SCHUMER
(Schumer’s remark that the American People don’t care about all the “porky little projects” in bills passed by Congress is surely one of the stupidest remarks of the year. Even Mutton-headed McCaskill didn’t top that.)
4th Seed John Boehner vs. 13th Seed Norm Coleman
JOHN BOEHNER
6th Seed Edward Kennedy vs. 11th Seed Rolan Burris
EDWARD KENNEDY
3rd Seed Barney Frank vs. 14th Seed Eric Cantor
BARNEY FRANK
(Come on, folks, who is more responsible for the mortgage mess than Barney Frank?)
7th Seed Joe Lieberman vs. 10th Seed John Kerry
JOHN KERRY
2nd Seed Harry Reid vs. 15th Seed Larry Craig
HARRY REID
(Harry Reid is the Senate majority leader. What possible power does Larry Craig have to contend with that? His sex life, or lack thereof is of interest to the pruient people who like to read those things in the paper and his family. To me, not a bit.)
Media Bracket
1st Seed Keith Olbermann vs. 16th Seed Katie Couric
KEITH OLBERMANN
8th Seed William Kristol vs. 9th Seed Dick Morris
WILLIAM KRISTOL
(Difficult call, Kristol by a hair.)
5th Seed Ann Coulter vs. 12th Laura Ingraham
LAURA INGRAHAM
(Ingraham’s recent remark about Megan McCain as a Plus-Size model was way over the line. Thus I picked her)
4th Seed Rachael Maddow vs. 13th Seed Markos Moulitsos
RACHAEL MADDOW
6th Seed David Shuster vs. 11th Seed Ariana Huffington
DAVID SHUSTER
(Another difficult choice. I probably choose Shuster because half the time I can’t understand what the hell Zsa Zsa Huffington is saying.)
3rd Seed Maureen Dowd vs. 14th Seed Rush Limbaugh
RUSH LIMBAUGH
7th Seed Joe Klein vs. 10th Seed David Broder
JOE KLEIN
(Just because Joe Klein is a complete ass and Broder isn’t that complete.)
2nd Seed Andrew Sullivan vs. 15th Jamal Simmons
ANDREW SULLIVAN
At Large Bracket
1st Seed Chris Matthews vs. 16th Eliott Spitzer
CHRIS MATTHEWS
8th Seed Rod Blagoevich vs. 9th Seed William Ayers
WILLIAM AYERS
(Ayers by a mile. A violent criminal vs a non-violent criminal will always seem much, much worse to me. )
5th Seed Caroline Kennedy vs. 12th Seed John Edwards
JOHN EDWARDS
(Both hypocrites but Edwards the bigger. She’s just another elite that thinks she should have what she wants because of who her daddy was.)
4th Seed Donna Brazile vs. 13th Jeremiah Wright
DONNA BRAZILE
(Prima Donna Brazile wins on points for the sheer hypocrisy of saying all through the primaries that she was neutral. About as neurtral as MO.)
6th Seed Bill Richardson vs. 11th Seed Michael Steele
BILL RICHARDSON
3rd Seed Tom Daschle vs. 14th Seed Bobby Jindal
TOM DASCHLE
7th Seed Howard Dean vs. 10th Seed Alan Greenspan
HOWARD DEAN
2nd Seed Oprah Winfrey vs. 15th Seed Tim Kaine
OPRAH WINFREY

I cry foul! How did Bill O’Reilly not make it to the big dance? And why was Glenn Beck robbed of consideration? How was butt-snorkeler and Bush enabler Condoleeza Rice bracketed so low? And pray-tell how did Hannity or Scarborough miss the cut but Curric get the invite? How did Carter manage to get an invite to the competition (and gain such a high bracket)?, Carter has not played in the major leagues in over three decades. Why did not union-buster and all around jackass Bob Corker not get an invite? Why were none of the corporate robber-barons invited? They have to rate a bracket all their own. I demand an immediate investigation!! The fix is in!!!

Comment by RobWarrior | 2009-03-20 22:42:11

It was a very tough year for the selection committee. The robber barons are not eligible as only politicians, former office holders and political media are eligible.

O’Reilly’s interview with Hillary Clinton was so strong, it kept him out of the asshole competition.

Hannity was one of the few voices willing to challenge Obama mania in the early stages and thus also avoided getting in.

Carter is always an ass. Still goes out and negotiates his own foreign policy without anyone asking for his help and he interjected himself into the primary mess when nobody asked.

Comment by NomNomNom | 2009-03-21 23:25:23

Clueless

‘This is a serious slap by Barack Obama at the French people. It does not matter if someone voted for Mr. Sarkozy or not. It matters that the French Republic has just had it’s free elections which free Frenchmen have died for has just been negated by
B. H. Obama.

What B.H. has just done is worse than the humiliation he just heaped upon British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, his wife and their 2 children. Obama just negated the French elections by telling a person with no more power than Jimmy Carter he is going to be working with him.
Chirac is an old Citizen of France and that is it.

This is what is the breach in Obama has now antagonized the three most important allies America has in England, France and the Israeli state.

These actions are deliberate by Mr. Obama to break the western alliance and supplant it with the central Europeans who started Obama’s original Marxist dogma which he laps upon.

This is why I’m not so amused at this as this is not Obama being clueless, but Obama being deliberated. It is going to have horrendous terms for America and the rest of the world.’

Comment by lark | 2009-03-22 04:47:35

Yes, Obama may be causing this problems with deliberate intention to inflict chaos and consternation domestically as well as internationally so as to rush in an authoritarian agenda whereby he becomes the controlling agent of change.
