Brazile To Speak at DOJ on Behalf of Women’s History Month – a New Outrage

Just file this one under YOU HAVE GOT TO ME KIDDING ME!!! Attorney General Eric Holder, in an effort “to erase memories of the highly-charged political controversies from the previous administration” has invited none other than Donna Brazile to speak at a March 31st “Women’s History Month” event. As Evan Perez reports in the WSJ today, there are Politicization Charges at DOJ over Brazile Appearance. Gee I wonder why?

One can debate the pros and cons of the ‘do as I say, not as I do’ attitude of having a veteran Democratic political operative speak at a non-partisan event, but when that event regards Women’s History Month – how can Donna Brazile of all people show her face? She will forever be infamous for her Obama Derangement Syndrome. Let me offer up my own definition of someone suffering from this ailment: a person who will trumpet an unqualified candidate over a more qualified one beyond all reason, to the point of selling any and all opposition down the river to do so.

Perez reports that “already some of the same “politicization” charges are being flung at the Justice Department” and…

A flyer sent to Justice Department employees advising of the March 31 Brazile appearance, says “Supervisors are encouraged to grant official time to employees to attend this event.”

In an effort to allay such concerns, Ms. Brazile made the following outrageous statement:

“During my remarks, I will pay tribute to women who dare, women of courage and the many milestones we have achieved and the path ahead,” Brazile said in an e-mail. “I am going in my capacity as an Adjunct Professor in the Women and Gender Studies at Georgetown University — not as a CNN contributor, ABC news consultant or Vice Chair of the DNC [Democratic National Committee]. Perhaps, I am going as a woman of valor — a woman of courage to pay tribute to women who work at the DOJ and elsewhere.”

Women who DARE? I am apoplectic reading this. I am less concerned with the fact that she is a Democratic operative going to speak at the DOJ, than I am with the fact that this woman has no right speaking at an event touting Women’s History Month – or “women who dare” when she spent the entirety of last year trampling on a truly worthy “Woman Who Dared” in Hillary Clinton.

“A woman of valor?” She calls herself a woman of valor? Perhaps Donna Brazile once had valor. But now? She used her position both as a CNN commentator, a frequent guest on This Week with George W. and her senior status within the DNC to influence the outcome of the primary in Barack Obama’s favor at every turn. She was downright insulting to Secretary Clinton and at the RBC on May 31st, Ms. Brazile went completely over the top to help arrange the absolute theft of rightfully earned Clinton delegates, thereby gifting them to Obama.

Perhaps Ms. Brazile is trying to rescue her reputation by speaking on behalf of women — it is far too little far too late. I wager this is her effort to calm the raging correspondence she has received from many women for selling out the most qualified one to come down the pike in 30 years.

I had a back and forth email correspondence with Ms. Brazile the morning of March 4th just preceding the Texas and Ohio primaries. I asked her very respectfully to be unbiased on the news and to give Hillary Clinton a chance. I also made my argument that she endorse then Senator Clinton as the more qualified candidate who offered better policy solutions and who had the gravitas and know-how to be President.

I expressed my fear that Barack Obama had not yet been vetted in the press and made my case for the necessity of doing so. While I will not share her exact words, suffice it to say Ms. Brazile felt that vetting was a useless endeavor that only led to lies and distortion. Oh really? You see where that’s gotten us now. She also, on many occasions called Hillary Clinton out on the carpet for running an arrogant campaign. Really? Barack Obama, the American Idol candidate, has run the most arrogant campaign in history. Six million dollars spent on faux Grecian columns ring a bell?

Matthew Miller, a Justice spokesman, said “Donna Brazile was selected as a speaker by a committee of career employees who believed she would offer an informative perspective on Women’s History Month.”

An informative perspective, indeed. If she stands there and dares to talk about Hillary Clinton putting 18,000,000 cracks in the glass ceiling, then truly there is no justice on earth. As Perez reports further below, I find it interesting that there is outrage from the Republicans that a Democratic political operative would speak at the DOJ, but no outrage – so far—that someone would claim to speak on behalf of women when she sat on top of that glass ceiling with every ounce of her power and influence to make sure Hillary couldn’t break through:

At about the same time as the prosecutor firings scandal was raging, the Bush Administration acknowledged that political operatives, including Karl Rove, held partisan briefings at more than a dozen government agencies. At the briefings in 2006 and 2007, employees were told of House Democrats who Republicans were targeting for defeat, as well as the prospects for some Republicans. The White House at the time defended the briefings as appropriate.

Hans von Spakovsky, a former Justice Department lawyer who worked in the civil rights division during the Bush administration, first wrote about the Brazile event for National Review. Von Spakovsky himself was drawn into some Bush-era Justice controversy over accusations that he made politically tainted decisions in the civil rights division.

Von Spakovsky had this to say:

“What I find amazing about it is if DOJ had invited a Republican campaign consultant to come speak to employees when John Ashcroft or one of the other prior Bush Attorney Generals were there, there would have been a tremendous outcry about it”.

Yes, there probably would have been an outcry. But this is the “do as I say, not as I do” administration. We don’t hire lobbyists, until we do (and write a special dispensation exception letter allowing us to do so). We don’t make personal attacks, until we do (Joe the plumber, anyone? Gov. Palin, anyone?)

I can’t waste any more copy over this except to note that Donna Brazile is atop of the list of women who broke my heart last year. She knows all too well the great qualifications and smarts Hillary Clinton would bring to the job of President. For Ms. Brazile to irrationally betray her own knowledge and good sense in order to tout a man for the job who is clearly not ready to handle it is not indicative of a woman of valor.

Rather these are the actions of a “woman who dared” to turn her back on her own principles. These are the actions of a woman who dared turn her back on other women by trumpeting a less qualified man – once again telling women to go to the back of the line. Forgive me, but I truly believed Donna Brazile, with whatever struggles she has had to face in her own life, would be the last person to do such a thing.

I can’t even begin to tell you how disgusted I am. I say it every day around here…just when you thought it got more bizarre, deranged and Kabuki Theater-esque, crap like this happens. There are no words to describe this disgrace of a human being. She’s a liar, cheat, fraud, backstabber, hater, racist, and those are her good qualities. Sigh.

I wrote to Donna Brazile this week and she emailed me one of her “stop the hate” emails. I wrote her back a good one, mainly about what a hypocrite she is, that she should try loving others and stop the hate herself, that “winning” at any cost didn’t make her a “winner.” And that Obama is a disaster, but even worse is what she contributed to fraudulently to get him where he is. She’s going to have a real karmic reckoning some day. Biotch.

Comment by Diana L. C. | 2009-03-27 21:53:12

I emailed her, too, providing her a link to the email chain of comments about her on NQ this week. She sent a verse from Proverbs, and I countered with my interpretation of the verse, backed up with some textual exegeis from theologians that would discount her interpretation. I said my only purpose was to show her that many of us remembered her actions and would not forget them soon.

She simply wrote back that she wouldn’t comment because she knew I was sharing her response. Some valor and daring on her part. Somehow this speech has too be stopped.

Comment by I'mFedUp | 2009-03-27 21:58:29

I also provided links to comments about her, including the one from her RIDICULOUS article about how great Obama is doing. ROFLMAO. She’s a buffoon. I think I would curl up in a ball fetus style if I knew so many people despised me. At the very least, I would rethink the pig I had become. Nope. She just keeps on keepin’ on with her fraud on America. She sucks.

I hope she gets booed off the stage.

I am very disappointed in Eric Holder for trying to prop up an anti woman anti gay OPERATIVE. Has anyone seen the Dean deposition, that shows that it was Donna who helped to block gay rights as Civil Rights. Coretta Scott King knew gays deserved to have equal rights, Civil Rights.

Donna violated the VOTERS rights by her mechnization of the DNC RBC on May 31st 2008. Donna did every thing exept exact violence upon The best candidate that just happened to be a woman, Hillary R. Clinton. Donna sat silent while another CNN commentator called Hillary a ‘White BItch. Exactly what valor does it take while an American Champion of women’s rights, children’s rights, Civil Rights and Human Rights is assailed and demeaned in Donna’s presence and she at times agrees and
otherwise gives her approval via her silence.

It’s no wonder why P D(ummy) thinks Domestic Vilence is a ’situation’, when the US AG finds Donna to speak for us ‘wimin folk’. :-(

Two racists — birds of a feather (brazile nut and what’s his name).

Thankfully I am an Independent –

Comment by Ellen D | 2009-03-28 02:36:57

Exactly. He called Americans “cowards” for not discussing race. Well I’m discussing it now and I am disgusted that for people like them being black trumps everything - gender, patriotism, websites for job hunters - you name it. I’m completely fed up. They are undoing all my years of support which extends back to the 60’s.

Comment by NoBamaNoWay | 2009-03-28 04:55:54

yep; i will not forget AA’s entirely race-based voting for Ozero over all the other dem candidates, and the slander of the Clintons as racist. they bit the hand that fed them, and it ain’t cool.

I hope PUMAs and Clinton supporters in the DC area attend and do boo her ass off stage or until security is called to escort the protesters out. Brazilla is just looking for a way to poke Clinton supporters in the eye again. The woman has no shame.

Comment by Anna | 2009-03-27 23:12:06

Can someone post where and when, exactly, she will be appearing? Can we make sure some folks in D.C. will picket? Can we make sure people in the audience will ask hard questions and boo?

Comment by jbjd | 2009-03-27 20:45:40

According to Ms. Brazile, January 20th, 2009 was the first time in her life she envisioned a woman President. (NQ) Given that Senator Clinton won more votes in the Democratic Party Presidential primary than Senator Obama; and that Governor Palin was the Vice Presidential candidate for the Republican Party, I can only conclude that, she is lying. That is, either she envisioned a woman President before the 20th; or she still cannot see a female CIC.

Comment by BlueTopaz | 2009-03-27 21:51:01

She probably meant “Black” woman, but didn’t articulate it.

Comment by Ciarda | 2009-03-28 01:12:04

Well considering three African American women of far more integrity have already run in my lifetime- Shirley Chisholm, Carol Mosley Braun, and Cynthia McKinney it was a smack in the face to those three valiant women too.

She was seeing only herself (just like Obama could only see himself as “the” African American candidate, dissing Jesse Jackson Sr. who was nearly as popular and he won 13 states honestly in 1988, and without smearing other candidates or the voters. He actually brought together all the disadvantaged people. And unlike Obama who was fawned on all over the media Jesse Jackson Sr. faced actual racism in 1988 by the same media that fawned over Obama in 2008- including some of the same journalists, even!

And I note Jesse Sr never trashed Hillary (or even Sarah Palin for that matter) and in fact was one of only a tiny number of Obama backers who called the Obama campaign on the lie of calling Bill and Hillary and Geraldine Ferraro racists. He emphatically stated they weren’t racists and to use such tactics was the lowest form of campaigning- “gotcha politics”. Jesse Sr. was also really hacked off about Obama’s arrogant attitude toward the African American community, presuming he was much better than real African Americans and lecturing them on how they should be.

Jesse Sr. has his own problems, but one thing you can definitely say is, unlike Obama, Jesse Sr actually did and does respect and care about all disadvantaged peoples. He would have been a far sight better for our first African American male president- and he’s actually an African American who grew up in America in an African American community. Obama didn’t grow up in African American communities- he lived all his life in upper class communities, and frankly reads as a snooty rich white man pretending to be African American.

Comment by FranSC | 2009-03-28 01:42:47

We just finished with January as MLK’s Birthday/ holiday month. February was Black History Month with public service announcements galour and “post campaign-type ads” congratulating and cheering B0 on as the new POTUS from January through March.

So, let me get this straight - for Women’s History Month - a black woman who pulled every trick in the DNC parliamentarian handbook against the most qualified candidate running for POTUS who happened to be a woman.

In addtion, she both committed as well as supported blatant crimes of election fraud against the nominating process to further insure the desimation of this brilliant candidate who had been the front runner for a year. Instead of the smart, savvy woman, she preferred and indeed shamelessly pushed this stammering, stuttering, bumbling excuse for a candidate because he was black and could read a speech - MLK-style. And you are telling me she has been asked to represent women in the celebration of Women’s History Month at the Department of Justice, no less, where she should instead be arrested by the chief police officer in this country. But, oh, I forgot, he’s black too.

Instead of achieving equality, it would appear we have become subordinate to black Americans, a minority that represents only 16% of the population in this country but have learned how to play the political game from the best.

Comment by Andy | 2009-03-27 22:04:12

jbjd:

she meant “after the first black man is POTUS and HRC was vanquished sure, a woman can come along”

She’s one hideous human being….

Comment by trixta | 2009-03-28 00:23:28

If Brazile envisioned for the first time on Jan 20th, 2009 the possibility of a woman president, then that means that HRC and Palin were not — and are not — on her radar. That comment was another jab at Clinton, especially.

Comment by Woman Voter | 2009-03-28 01:36:35

That has got to be the high of all insults to the WOMEN that took the heat including from woMENZ FeMANists like her, that will support the patriarchy at any cost, including taking out the most qualified candidate that just happened to be a WOMAN: HILLARY R. CLINTON!

Comment by James | 2009-03-27 20:52:31

What she meant when she says she envisioned a woman president on Jan. 20th is that she envisions a black woman president, maybe herself. DonnaB is a person who chooses race over anything else.

Comment by BlueTopaz | 2009-03-27 21:53:30

Yep, she is indeed a racist.

Comment by Andy | 2009-03-27 22:06:49

This filth disguised as a woman has got to be the most politically tone deaf individual to have ever set foot in DC.

I’m beyond disgust with Brazilda (Bride of Deanenstein)and the other party apparachiks who installed 0fraudo over the LEGITIMATE winner Hillary who received over a quarter of a million more votes (more votes than ANY candidate in USA primary history!)than that clueless usurper.

For garbage in positions of power (Brazile, Dean, Pelosi, et al) who cared more about installing their “precious” than about the will of the voters the electoral crime they committed will never be forgotten nor forgiven.

Comment by Lyn | 2009-03-27 21:05:30

They cared more about stopping Hillary and installing Obama than they did our Country. They HAD to know how awful he would be.

Comment by FranSC | 2009-03-28 02:04:10

“They had to know how awful he would be.”

Not so - they have always considered him swooningly “The One” - ESPECIALLY AA’s.

They think he is doing his job brilliantly. (See Brazile’s Washington Times article).

Sorry, but they don’t “know” any such thing.

Comment by Lyn | 2009-03-27 20:59:00

I hope there are people out side with signs with quotes from the lovely emails she sent like Donna when you told the Dem base to stay home…Donna why did you call Hillary supporters Vile…or even better Donna why did you change the rules so the Woman Candidate couldn’t not win. Donna why were you so awful at the RBC meeting. Donna why did you say Fairytale is racist…

What an awful joke, how tone deaf are they?

Comment by Anna | 2009-03-27 23:14:06

Can someone post where and when she will be appearing, and get the word around to make sure there are protests?

Comment by Andy | 2009-03-28 00:16:40

That’s a great idea! But if it is in DC at the DOJ they won’t let anyone close, I am afraid…..But maybe one could write to the DOJ (politely)? …..

Comment by FranSC | 2009-03-28 02:25:19

Someone could design a petition that we could all sign asking that she not represent us at the DOJ giving the reasons why and attaching this article and comments.

As unsympathetic as Eric Holder would be in getting such a request, he may be concerned about his predecessors’ being charged with politization that resulted in a forced resignation.

Wanna talk about a real woman? Rep. Bachmann is fighting for legislation against Obama having the right to destroy the dollar and get us on this BS One World Category. This woman needs to get ALL OF OUR SUPPORT so she can prohibit Geithner, Obama and their owners like Soros, from collapsing the dollar. This is urgent and we should all let this woman know we thank her for her courage.

Comment by FranSC | 2009-03-28 02:34:29

The thing I most admire about Rep. Bachmann is the fact she won re-election in 2008 in the face of Nancy Pelosi going to her district and telling her constituents that she was a “disgrace to the congress” and they needed to replace her with the male candidate running against her. Afterwards, Bachmann said Pelosi gave her opponent $100,000 for his campaign. Thankfully, that trick didn’t work.

Like Susan Estrich said, Pelosi wants to be the only woman at the table, a.k.a., one reason she worked so diligently to defeat Hillary.

How I wish this were an April Fool’s joke.

Having her show up at this event is another form of revisionist history — as if to say this woman cared anything about women’s rights or the advancement of women. Clearly, she does not.

Ani,

That is what get me, is how they are busy trying to re-write herstory, on Women’s History month, to include themselves and pat themselves on the backs. Maybe they just discovered what is killing women of color at high numbers…its that ’situation’ that we know as Domestic Violence.

When did she come out against that? NEVA! I wouldn’t take a class from her on women or gender. NEVA!

This is just unbelievable, simply unbelievable. Does Holder think the rest of the country doesn’t know what she did during the primaries? And at the DNC?? Do they ALL have their heads up their butts?? I did a short diary on this after reading this over at Alegre’s, put in the link to this one. I just can’t believe that anyone would think that Donna Brazile was an appropriate person to laud the accomplishments of women when she did so much to scuttle the nomination of Hillary Clinton. I hope they boo her off the stage. And I hope the Republicans can raise enough stink to embarrass the hell out of her. She is lower than low, she is a snake. She should be shunned by all decent people.

Comment by Ani | 2009-03-27 22:08:14

Yes they do have their heads where the sun don’t shine. My hubby and I call our Senators and congressman to complain about the stimulas package, geithner, no transparency, et al, and they do they equivalent of a Scooby Doo: “oogohheeughh??” on the other end of the phone.

Like Nancy Pelosi, they are completely befuddled as to why we are not thrilled with their stewardship of this nation at the moment.

I am speechless, Ani. Donna Brazile speaking in behalf of Women’s History Month, to pay tribute to women who dare, women of courage, speaking as a “woman of valor?”

They seem to love petitions, maybe someone should start a petition of, “I am a woman and Donna Brazile does not represent me.” I’d like to know just what she’s done for women to deserve this speech?

Comment by Ashy1 | 2009-03-27 22:31:51

What has she done? She helped O-bomb-a win. Don’t you know that qualifies you for a job as head of FEMA or some such.

Comment by FranSC | 2009-03-28 02:58:59

Diana, they have no concept of choosing a woman who has done something to promote women’s rights and equality. Eric Holder with Obama’s blessing probably just chose a person with ovaries, etc. Perhaps this is her consolation prize for all she did to get 0zero elected - selling her soul to the devil and all.

Comment by FLDemFem | 2009-03-29 12:37:50

I kind of hope they do primary her..heeheehee.. imagine the fun we could have with cow flops at her speeches and rallies. The trick to tossing cow flops is that you wait for the outer layer of poop to harden into a crust, while the inner poop remains green and liquid. That makes it possible to throw and it will stay intact until impact. I can see Donna now, covered head to toe in cow flop. Vox Populi.

Donkey Brassiere is now coming forth to the public again, after a short hiatus. This makes me suspicious that she may be in line for some government plum.
Valerie Jarrett plum with the Women’s Council payback.

What position might she be sniffing up?

Equally grotesque is the thought of her even being involved in women and gender studies courses. What genders is she expounding on, and what makes her an authority? As for expounding on “women,” that’s totally laughable.

I despise that evil woman!!!!!!!!!..She and H.Dean, and Rahmn stole my vote and the votes of almost 2 million people in my state! And their operative Karen Thurman of the FDP ..i despise all of them..But Donna..I would spit at her if I saw her in person!..I sincerely would!

It was brave people who worked so hard in my state to rid Florida of the DRE voting machines that allowed the change of our primary..My husband and I both put up a big chunk of money to have the voting machines in our county audited to prove that no audit was possible ..and that helped move people to fight our legislature to throw out the DRE voting machines. People dedicated their lives to do this as well, at a cost to themselves personally as well as countless hours and days to do the work nessesary..and that fucking woman stole our vote..it was a set up..the whole damn thing was a set up..it was set up and carried out by the evil bastards in my own party. That is what hurt so badly.

I will never vote for a democrat again..i will stay home before voting for a democrat in my state. And i feel the same nationally. I just will not vote.
Why the fuck bother..when evil bastards like Donna, Howard, Rahmn and Karen Thurman can steal my vote????????

The dem party will never see another damn dollar of my money and not another hpur of my work.

Oh and I was an elected Dem delegate in 2004 for my county and state.
Despise them is the mildest thing I can say at this point.
I don’t like to say the word Hate..but I am as close to that feeling.

I believed in one person, one vote. I no longer believe that. Its all a damn sham.

I went to Iowa and SC to work for edwards, i saw the caucus cheating up front..as a co-captian of a large caucus..it was disgraceful…even worse than disgraceful..it was pure fraud.

As was my state of Florida..it was fraud at it’s worse!

That witch should be run out of any politics..she is a pig!

Sorry but that is exactly how I feel about her! She is a cheat and a filthy pig!

Oh yes the caucus —

One of the major reasons why I will NEVER EVER be a democrat again!!

The Washington state democrats were bought off by team Obama — and it was Brazile who was there to make sure that her racist choice “won”.

WA state voters — VOTED to have a primary — but the Democrat Party Machine over ruled the voters and forced a caucus on us — it was the biggest FRAUD I have ever witnessed.

I have nothing but disgust and contempt for the Democrat party Machine.

Comment by WMCB | 2009-03-28 01:33:21

Of course they did, because you can’t have your 0bot THUGS screaming at and intimidating people, and calling women cunts, and stealing sign in sheets, and locking people out, etc when you have a primary.

Donna Brazile is vile, a lying (oh, I’m undecided…) sack of putrid hypocritical selfish shit. To choose her to speak for Womens History is like choosing David Duke to honor MLK.

I hope she rots, and I wouldn’t deign to piss on her if she was afire.

First, we have Dean to thank as the instigator of the caucus ‘loophole’ in 2004 that got out of hand in 2008 and created the caucus fraud. They knew they could stack the caucuses and win starting in Iowa, using MoveOn.Org.

This would also be the reason they would give for a 50-State Strategy - “hey, we won in red states in the caucuses, “so we can make red states blue.”

Secondly, SC Rep. Clyburn pushed Dean to frontload the primaries with SC so there was a state with high AA voter registration that could have an early voice in the nomination process. SC was the second primary after NH. Worked like a charm. No one else would understand why Obama would win a primary, just the fact he won.

So Ms. Donna had to be out there making sure there were as many possibilities for using this caucus scheme as they could get. It’s no wonder she prefered the caucus to the primary.

Then she and Clyburn race-baited the Clintons, shaming them unmercifully for being “racists” in SC. They kept this up throughout the campaign to insure no AA’s would vote for Hillary.

How many Democrats have left the party because of her and the DNC’s disgusting changing of the rules?
Our votes did not count! Here in America, we were not represented, because of hatefilled Donna.

I will never forget the many outrageous things she said and did during the primaries.

And she’s the one who doesn’t believe in one man one vote. She’s responsible for the rule change in 2004 that gave more weight to the AA vote so even when Hillary won more votes she didn’t always win more delegates in Nevada, TX etc.

Can you imagine if Alberto Gonzales had Karen Hughes speak? All the Dems would cry foul but not one peep about Donkey Brazile.

Disgusting!

Ani, I have a question. Why is Eric Holder the person allowed to pick the speaker for Women’s History Month? A few months ago I found out half of NARAL’s Board of Directors are men. I’m going to send an email to Kim Gandy, but I know I will receive a lecture in return on how I’m not falling in line. I’ve started deleting the NOW emails, but haven’t withdrawn my membership. Isn’t there someway to organize an email protest? I live halfway across the country and can’t go to Washington right now, but I would gladly participate in any other effort. Is this DB’s reward for helping BO? There are so many wonderful women in this country so deserving of this honor and DB dishonors all of us. I think I will send an email to the DOJ.

Comment by Ani | 2009-03-28 02:32:29

Elise,

I don’t know of any coordinated effort since this morning is the first I am hearing of this. We could certainly post an action item to encourage people to email Eric Holder and the DOJ to protest.

Also writing a brief op-ed letter to your paper or to the Washington Times where she just published an article might help.

I have no idea how they choose their speakers but I am sure you are right about this being some sort of reward.

Eric Holder is also the one who came out at the beginning of the month and said we are a “nation of cowards when it comes to race.” Not sure what to make of that exactly. Seems he is playing to an interesting double standard — it was ok for the campaign and the media to play the race card to help Obama get elected, but now we are too chicken to talk to one another about race — and if you criticized Obama then you were racist.

My head is spinning.

Comment by elise | 2009-03-28 02:44:49

Ani, I just emailed Kim Gandy, for all the good it will do. NOW no longer has the guts for a fight and I’m not really sure what they do anymore. They talk about women’s rights and gay rights, but they seem to be just an extension of Emily’s List ( I dropped my membership and support there last year ). It’s unbelievable to me. Too many women aren’t paying attention anymore and after the sexism of the election it is a slap in the face to Hillary’s supporters to invite this witch to speak on our behalf. I know you will keep us up to date on any organized protest. Thank you so much for everything you have done.

Comment by Ani | 2009-03-28 03:09:54

Elise, thanks. It is my pleasure. Well — not my pleasure because I’d rather have much better news to report, but you know what I mean.

I am grateful to all of you who have been so kind and supportive of my writing. I am working on a book right now focusing on the sexism of last year’s campaign, among other things.

For that matter, look at the ‘members’ of Obama’s ‘Council on Women.’ The ‘membership’ is all the Cabinet heads, plus some other high officials. So it’s about 75% male. And includes Larry Summers (whom I think got a bad rap but anyway is not popular with many women).

Comment by Ani | 2009-03-28 21:25:10

Larry Summers has no right to be on a women’s council for anything — he did not get a bad rap — he is a sexist. Period. Has he had any sensitivity training since his remarks that got him fired?

Comment by Alice Paul | 2009-03-28 09:08:17

OH Eric, you are as big a fraud as Brazile is. Ask Shelia Jackson Leigh to speak if it’s “good will” you want to show. But you know that don’t you? This isn’t about good will. It’s about kissing Brazile’s ass since she decided to take this new “I really like women now” tack.

Brazile, you are fooling no one. If not for YOU, we’d have a competent woman POTUS right now and nothing, nothing you can do or say is going to change your place in history after all you’ve done. So speak at this event, it’s another slap in the face to women to go on your besmirched record.

And quoting the bible to people who call you out on it makes me wonder if you seriously are not a psychopath. Being pompus instead of a real apology is the tactic of a pathological.

It’s nausea inducing posturing. It’s very clear for all to see. Get thee to a therapist…what bible verse is that?

In other words. Go fuck yourself Donna. And then look up some verses on righteous anger…it’s in there and you need to read it.

I’m with Queenie in my disgust of what occurred here in Florida. We voted for Hillary ovewhelmingly. It wasn’t even close and included voters of all ethnicities, ages and economic groups. Yet, the DNC decided we were to be punished and not counted. Beside that fact, why were our votes not even considered by the MSM. Maybe they didn’to count as far as the DNC was concened, but we did vote, 1 person/1 vote, and the results should have meant something since we are such a large state, but they acted as if we never showed up at the polls at all. This was to focus the attention on South Carolina instead of Florida. I’ll never forget Donna’s invite for those of us who backed Hillary to leave the party. “They had a new, younger, urban coalition and we weren’t needed any longer” (CNN). Many of us took her up on that. Perhaps that is why they are tryng to rewrite history. There are many of Brazille’s email responses to people who took the time to email her. Her responses were certainly not professional. They were nasty and dismissive. I remember reading alot of them on Taylor Marsh’s website before she went over to the darkside. I haven’t been over there in a long time.

Comment by Sassy | 2009-03-28 12:08:06

While Florida and Michigan were under the gun, the eventual outcome was the same for Tennessee voters who went overwhelmingly for Hillary.
The super-delegates from our state sold us out as well!
With the convoluted, crooked process employed by the Brazilian Dems, they stole the nomination.
See how many more of my votes are stolen!
Not if none of mine go in the dimocrats slot!

Comment by CG | 2009-03-28 16:30:53

Thanks Ani. Holder should have invited Hillary Clinton. I do think it possible that Donna requested an opportunity for a ceremonious speaking engagement for her allegiance and support to the Obama campaign. While Barack Obama could not find a place for Donna in his administration as she had anticipated, he was able to get Donna this gig, to help rehabilitate her image. Thing is at this point it seems Donna is really sticking her foot in her mouth with every comment she makes. Anyway, Ani, does this mean Holder has quickly filled the Justice Department with “obotomized” legal “folks” (to quote Obama) who find inspiration in the uninspirational?

Comment by Ani | 2009-03-28 20:43:53

I wouldn’t put anything past them — cronyism seems just as popular here as it was under Bush. This is typical for many politicans — but that is the point — politics as usual — no “change” anywhere.

Hillary should be the speaker, she should have been picked.

If this is supposed to be a post racial world then why is everything now about the AA race?

But maybe we should be careful for what we ask for since someone might come up with the idea for MO to be the speaker.
