Fox News: Will Hillary Get The Last Laugh?
By SusanUnPC on March 27, 2009 at 1:15 AM in Congress (House & Senate), Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, State Department, State Department Press Briefings, Tim Geithner, Toxic Assets
“She looks presidential.” No, she doesn’t. Yes, she does! Oh, honestly. Jesus Christ on a pogo stick!
BESIDES: I can’t believe how the rightwing has walked right into Obama’s set-up, his favorite play with the magician’s “sleight of hand” to distract people, to keep the rightwing obsessing about brown people in Mexico causing WAR (!) in the U.S., while three months ago it was barely on the radar. Yes, Hillary is taking the problem seriously, but she is also taking hundreds of situations around the world equally as seriously. She’s really been to 11 countries already, and is going to her 12th next week. The woman WORKS at her job. She looks like she never sleeps and like she’s lost 10-15 lbs. Check out the State Dept.’s blog. She gets more done in one day than Obama in a week. (And don’t miss Amy’s and Ani’s stories today on Hillary.)
Meanwhile, Obama is picking the pockets of every American, including the rightwingers’ pockets, through his VBF Timmy Geithner’s plan: See our toxic assets plan articles here at NoQuarterUSA. All while O’Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh, Fox 24/7, Anderson Cooper, CNN are consumed with brown people’s violence — reporting stories that describe torture, kidnapping, and murders (and they know that viewers love stories with lots of gore, mayhem and violence). Meanwhile, Timmy Geithner bypasses the Constitution, Congress, and the American people with a $1 trillion plan to feed each of his rich buddies hundreds of millions for a one-way bet on toxic assets, with taxpayers left holding the bag every time. I have a question: How can one man, on the job less than two months, get to decide to spend $1 trillion without Americans’ approval via their elected representatives in Congress? (Call your reps. immediately!)
I almost forgot. Here’s the debate about Hillary:

Excellent post Susan! Keep it up.
What are the qualifications these days to be a talking head on TV? Jesus. You have to be brain dead, with one eye and a running mouth to be a talking head these days. These are the only qualification these morons have. Unbelievable.
Hillary is the only good thing going for America since Jan 2009. Get that into your heads and get a life FOXNEWS.
Hillary is the only bright spot for me and she is right for meeting the Mexicans half way by agreeing that the guns coming south is arming the cartels
More evidence that we have to change our drug laws
Seattle Moss.
Amen! Right on!
twits ‘n’ twats.
OisaFraud
Right! But I think (watching this Fox piece again) the Foxes have pretty much nothing negative to say about Hillary. And they may be really really afraid of her in 2012. Why did they put out their “Hillary movie” campaign ad so prematurely. They’re smelling ObummerFraud blood….
all in all I found FOX far more fairer than some of hte MSNBC/ABC misogynist leg thrillers who brought us the Fraudorama…
And his credibility is further shot by sending 21,00 troops and billions of bucks to Afganistan. And don’t tell me it’s to promote Feminism 101 courses for the Taliban girls!
Susan, with all due respect, Mexico is important to us. I would think it would be important for us to see what the SOS is doing in Mexico since so much of our own country suffers Mexico’s ills. So, violence in Mexico isn’t important? Americans are affected by this on so many levels and are subject to a ton of violence traveling there. You know that, right? I have had friends kidnapped and ransomed down there. It’s terrifying and important. She shouldn’t have blamed America for Mexico’s drug problems IMO. But I am grateful she went there and that we saw first hand what those drug cartels are doing. By the way, they never said “brown people” and that’s just way offensive. I know that anyone looking the least bit to the right of the loony left is a supposed “racist,” but come on that wasn’t fair.
I didn’t say it wasn’t important. And I conveyed that I thought it was good she’s taking it seriously. It IS a crisis.
I’m pointing to the TIMING of this becoming a red hot issue. You gotta keep in mind that Obama could have chosen from a long list of hot issues — Darfur, Zimbabwe, teen pregnancy, the rise of AIDs, and on and on. Why this issue? Why now? Because it’s a magnetic issue for the right, which can’t resist the draw.
You gotta think like they think. As long as everyone is chatting about the hot Mexico story, they’re not chatting about the economy, let alone the trillions going down the tubes.
It’s magnetic for the Left too: gets them hoping we’ll legalize, er, decriminalize pot.
One Fox big wig is hoping that too: Ratner.
The Mexico issue has been going on for years, it’s just that the MSM has been ignoring it. I live very close to it and it has escalated like you wouldn’t believe. Over 5,000 people died on the border last year.
We have to pay attention to a lot things - and this is definitely one of them. Hilary should not have blamed the US for the violence down there - but I am glad that someone is FINALLY paying attention to this issue.
Carla
Where are the consumers of cocaine (including BarryO) heroin and other hard drugs currently residing?
I betcha it’s right in the U.S.A.
Why NOT blame the demand for the constant supply in Mexico.
Cut the bloody demand at Home.
End supply.
Don’t blame Mexico.
They have no social infrastructure. The U.S. punks have welfare and a court system.
Carla: again, I think Hillary is exactly right to blame us. Not only the huge demand for illegal drugs in this country, but also the big demand for cheap labor that has allowed a porous border and two administrations who now have done nothing. Obama just keeps saying he wants to keep all the illegal hispanics in the u. S. so thousands more are pouring in everyday. Of course, any attempt now to close the border will be met with huge resistance from the Mexican drug cartels. These are people the UNITED STATES MILITARY trained as Special Forces personnel. That’s why their government is having so much trouble containing them.
The federal government of this country does not always use the best sense in their policies.
Im Fed up????
YOU’RE HUNGRY FOR THE TRUTH–NOT FED UP!!!!
Of course HIllary should BLAME THE U.S. Who are the consumers who are fueling the need for these bloody drugs? The poor Mexicans. Hell, for them, it’s like being a Community Organizer in Chicago.
Instead of blaming Hillary for telling it like it is, you should have been fed up with Dubya Bushie’s and Reagan’s coziness with drug barons and their Saudi boyfriend dances that brought them untold wealth, shares in Haliburton, etc.
So, Obama is Soros and GE’s boy at heart and so he must march to Afganistan to promote Feminism 101 for the Talibani girls, eh?
you should not be Fed Up with Hillary. Look in your own back yard and see the TRUTH the woman is talking about!
Don’t blame the Mexicans for the U.S. Heroin and Coke Crowd’s INSATIABLE APPETITE for drugs! And don’t blame the poor Mexicans for finding a “JOB” — other than prostitution, amigo, what would you want your nieces to do, eh? No Welfare.
No social programs.
No family.
Therefore, sell drugs. What’s the excuse for the American young punks pushing drugs when they can get bloody Welfare, health care, etc? These punks,a unlike the Mexicans do-or-die scenarios, have other options.
Hell, Ofraudobummer made it to Harvard THANKS TO AFFIRMATIVE ACTION.
And Dubbya made it to Governah thanks to DADDY’S DEEP POCKETS….
You ain’t fed-up. You’re hungry for the Truth.
Listen to Hillary and suck it up
mary, read my posts and try to filter out the Bush hate and Hillary love. I didn’t vote for Bush and I don’t give a crap about him. I live in Los Angeles. I want my borders shut and my lifestyle returned to something decent. Try living what I live. Let me make it clear AGAIN…Hillary says it’s our fault. Yes, if we leave the borders open it is. Maybe she can talk some sense into her party then. PERIOD. The borders need to close and if you can get off your party rant understand I don’t care WHO does it. I don’t care which party saves our country. I just want the insanity stopped. Pelosi called us UNAMERICAN last week because of work place raids for illegals. Funny, but enforcing the LAW is UNAMERICAN? The left has gone loony tunes. That’s all. I want my borders closed. End of story.
mary: very good comment. Watch the Left go nuts now because Hillary has spoken the truth. There is only one reason people on the Left have continually supported illegal immigration: don’t want a secure border because their drug supply will be cut off. In the 60s and 70s hippies made regular trips to Mexico to get “the good stuff.” Been hooked on it ever since.
This is the main reason the far Left didn’t want Hillary in the WH. She would have cleaned this border mess up. Bill did. He secured San Diego and by the time he left office, the illegals had switched to AZ, a more difficult crossing. Then, Dubya did nothing. he just let them come in. It would not surprise me a bit if most all the people in Congress are either addicted or getting a kickback from the dealers.
I”mFedUp: I agree with you except that I think Hillary was courageous to point out that the huge appetite for illegal drugs in the U. S. is fueling the drug violence. The other part of the story, though, is that it’s illegal hispanics living in the U. S. who are drawing the Mexican Mafia up here. They are the people these thugs are kidnapping.
note to SusanUnPC:
Mexico is experiencing the violence that happens when law and integrity come to town.
The right wing is not looking to further the plight of “brown skinned” individuals.
The right wing (as you’ve termed it) are calling for recognition of Constitutional limitations on federal governmental power. What is the point you’re trying to make with this post. What? HILLARY=GOOD?
The Mexico thing was an aside, as I think she indicated, not the main point of the post.
That said, it seems to me her point is that Obama’s media lapdogs suddenly find something else to cover in screaming headlines every time 0bama is busy doing something heinous (like this Treasury power grab.)
It seems to be a deliberate attempt at distraction via stirring up emotion over a contentious issue, to take the focus off what 0bama is doing elsewhere. And the right wing plays into his hands if they pick up the story and start running with it.
anon
What YOUR point, sweetie? Didn’t Dubbya leave you a rich inheritance that should make you proud?
Dubya and Obummer are the two sides of the same Coin of Incompetence, Arrogance and Stupidity.
Hillary, if you’d care to listen and read Susan’s post a bit more carefully, provided the SANITY that is so urgently required these days for mere survival…
DUBYA = OBUMMER
BUSH = OBAMA (same coin of Incompetence)
HILLARY = BETTER….MUCH BETTER….
you of course are entitled to your opinion.
THANKS, SUSAN!!Great post for the hoi polloi to learn the FACTS!
Quick question: If Hillary’s better than the president, why’s she working for him?
One question…where’s your boss? Kickin’ it in the White House, smoking some crack, drinking some martinis with Stevie Wonder?
“brown people’s violence”?
If YOU are calling it that, then YOU are a racist. If not, please provide the source.
Troll alert!
Give it up Susan. I get your point. Some, however, are deliberately obtuse.
Nice to see this article in support of SOS CLinton.

I love Mexico and Mexicans. The culture is rich, the traditional music is full of pathos, some of the best artist and writers of the twenty century are from Mexico. They are spiritual and industrious people. If you really want to understand, read The Labyrinth of Solitude by Octavio Paz or some poetry by Pablo Neruda. The culture incorporates the Mayans, Aztecs, Spanish and western. The problems on the border are from the US and Mexico and only corporation between the two countries will be able to resolve them. I also believe this is a distraction. As long as the media speaks about the Mexican problems, they will ignore what Washington is doing to our country. And it’s much more dangerous to democracy.
Elise, I recommend the works of Octavio Paz (now deceased), but his Labyrinth of Solitude is problematic to many Mexican nationals and Mexican Americans. While insightful on many levels, this work is outdated when it comes to questions of Mexican national identity and gender politics.
This said, he didn’t win the Nobel Prize (for literature or philosophy?) for nothing.
trixta, you’re right about some elements of the book, but I believe he describes so eloquently, the spiritual and psychological side of life in Mexico. The people are deeply complex and if you want to understand and not just dismiss them as another third world country, this book is useful, beautiful.
trixta: all the Mexicans I know living in the U. S. wax endlessly about the glories of Mexico, but they all want to live in the U. S. They claim to be very patriotic to Mexico but they want to live in the U. S. If they take over the U. S. as they plan to do through anchor babies, they will turn it into a larger version of Mexico because the U. S. became great through the Puritan work ethic, not through a lovely, poetic culture.
Susan, just an FYI that all the shows on FOX cover much more than just this. If you wanted to take a stab, it would be most appropriate at Lou Dobbs on CNN as the immigration and border issues are his most fervent interest.
BTW, I am a Republican and spent my morning watching Geithner get grilled by Congress on FOX Business this morning. They carried the hearing in its entirety and have been doing with other hearings for weeks.
I have watched almost all those hearings and you can bet your bottom dollar that the majority of center and right-wing blogs are spending most of their article space on Geithner/Obama power grabs and the insane SAVE & SERVE Acts that are being rammed through the House and Senate (which are going to set up the start of Obama’s “blue shirt” brigades by more than tripling AmeriCorps from 75k to 250k members and has a troubling mandatory service section that was taken out by the Senate but will most probably be put back in by Pelosi when the House looks it over).
BTW, you do know that Bush never was required to get Congressional approval to do TARP I, right? He had the power to authorize it (and President’s have had that power, at least in modern times). He went to Congress because he thought it too important to just decide on his own (and he wanted some CYA).
Recall that no one asked Congress about taking over AIG even though it does not come under the purview of the Fed or the FDIC? Same deal with TARP I. The President can authorize the Treasurer to do certain things if he/she deems it an emergency to national security, including financial security. That’s how Obama got away with authorizing Treasury to print a Trillion and then buy a Trillion in our own bonds.
We cannot allow any Treasurer of the United States from any party to ever have the kind of authority that Geithner is trying to get. Under this guise, the Gov’t could have taken over GE (due to GE Capital being a financial arm) as well as GM (due to GMAC financing) and those are just off the top of my head. Obviously, neither of those companies core business is financial; however, Gov’t could have made the case that the failure of those companies would adversely affect the financial markets.
Further, as Geithner has described it, Gov’t would be allowed to just take over any old company whose failure they thought would adversely affect the economy as well as tell companies what salaries they can pay, how much they can borrow, and all sorts of other meddling crap.
That is socialism pure and simple.
I would posit that maybe Obama asked Sec. Clinton to go to Mexico and is sending assistance to the border in order to keep the far left and anti-war factions in the country from realizing he has just added another 4,000 soldiers to the 17,000 he has already authorized to deploy to Afghanistan.
With Obama, it’s all about distractions and on that we do agree.
Great comment. People forget - if they ever knew - that the most critical lesson from Watergate involved separation of powers. What if when the court ordered Nixon to hand over the tapes, he refused?
i.e. This is corporate socialism — or just plain old fascism.
De-criminalizing pot would have a lot of advantages. Even Ellen Ratner at Fox is pushing it. That may be a lot to read into Hillary’s remark about US demand, but Eric Holder recently said he was going to tell the Justice Dept to stop raiding medical marijuana groups (then they raided another). Then Obama chooses a pot question to answer — though not encouragingly.
Hmmmm….
Am I being a little off-base here, but I don’t think that Marijuana is the only drug that is being run across the border from Mexico. What about all the Heroin and Coke. Legalization of Marijuana is not going to stop the drugs being brought into our Country from Mexico.
No, it won’t, but if they don’t have to worry about marijuana coming across the border then they can use more resources to stop the heroin and cocaine. It’s not a question of letting in the hard drugs, it’s a question of having resources to stop them. The fewer resources they have to use against marijuana the more they have to use against heroin and cocaine.
Rebel Carol: Pot is not even ONE of the drugs being run across our border. it’s cocaine and methamphetamine. I watched the whole story two nights ago. The Mexico/U. S. problems with Mexican drug cartels have nothing whatsoever to do with marijuana. Hell, the Mexican drug cartels are GROWING marijuana in all the U. S. national forests. They don’t have to smuggle it in. They only have to smuggle in the poisonous pesticides they use to protect it, pesticides that are then washed by rains and melting snow into all our water supplies. But by all means, let’s all keep smoking pot. Nothing harmful about it, right?
New Mexico is awash in meth labs…Alamagordo is once such place, right by Holloman Air Force Base.
I repeat, New Mexico is full of meth labs. Alamogordo is one big area and it’s right next to Holloman Air Force Base.
(Of course, readers won’t be allowed to see this information, will they?)
I have to agree with you Susan. The MSM ‘reports’ on Mexico like it’s brand new and thank goodness they are there to bring it to us. It is important, but an even bigger story is right in front of their faces and they are failing to investigate it properly!
Isn’t there only a handful of families who really own Mexico and all of its prosperity?
Ginger: Correct. Mexico has never really been a democracy. It’s an oligarchy.
We should have annexed it in 1848 when we defeated them utterly and occupied Mexico City.
Yes She Will! get the last laugh. She’s already getting the last laugh. The Obama presidency is doomed and Clinton is at least for the moment out of the country most of the time and away from the toxic mess of the administration. Hopefully she can keep her distance in order to pave her own path to the presidency.
That’s what I have been thinking these last few weeks–Hillary is doing a great job around the world and it’s *smart* to stay the heck away from Oblow and his mess.
hello MADAM PRESIDENT..awwwwww,
music to my ears….
Spoken like a true Hillary sycophant.
Uh oh, did something happen? 0Zero stuck his hoof in his mouth again? The azzhat trolls are out. Woot woot, shift change for the Obutts.
There’s no doubt that Mexico is important and Hillary’s attention is needed in the area. But “hello” this increased violence has been going on for months with barely a whisper from the MSM.
We should seriously suspect these endless “coincidences,” which are distractions from Obama’s propaganda machine. They want and need us to take our eye off the ball, so they can push their reckless programs through. Take a look at what Geithner is really proposing, and then ask yourself: what poses the greater risk to the future of United States of America?
We’re under attack. But it’s not by Mexican drug lords. It’s our own government.
Don’t trust bankers, mortgage lenders, financiers, insurance companies. Theye are running Ponzi schemes. Derivatives are evil incarnate. Like a Pit Bull on a bloody bone, if The Federal Reserve or IMF World Bank sniff out capital or money, they quickly attempt to seize and control it. Beware of IMF Bank monetization. Social Security and Medicare will be gobbled up next, after they finish off the retirement funds. Now they will use fiat currency to buy up infrastructure and physical assets. Beware of World Currency and Carbon Taxes. Bankers are not to be trusted; they have moved $trillions of US dollars offshore and believe they are above Constitutional law; they don’t have to tell us where the money went. The Federal Reserve is not federal; it is run by private, tyrannical crooks.
Susan: i certainly wouldn’t make light of brown people on the border making war. They absolutely are, and if Americans don’t wake up they’ll have taken our country away from us before our very eyes and with the approval of the left. The Mexican crime problems are finally making Bush and Obama both look stupid. These are the people they both want to KEEP IN THE U. S. at all costs.
Yes, there are other problems around the world, but this problem is right on our southern border and it’s a forerunner of the bigger problems the drug cartels and even the average man-in-the-street Mexicans would like to cause for the U. S.
Go out and sit in on a La Raza meeting some time.
I am one of 18,000,000 and I stopped watching NBC, CBS, ABC, and MSNBC the day Hillary gave her concession speech. I was in Denver. I cried like a baby and I will always have a place in my heart for her. She is awsome. I started watching FOX when GOV Rendell of PA said they were the most fair of all the other networks to Hillary. Since watching FOX, I can tell you they are. I do not watch TV anymore during the day, I do not want to see OBAMA. I watch TV starting at 8:00 with FOX and I turn it off at 11:00. I do this most evenings. I get most everything shown during the day and I get the WHOLE story. “GO FOX”
