LAST CHANCE TO VOTE! March Madness. We’re Down to the Sweet 16. Help us Determine the Biggest Ass on the American Political Landscape. [UPDATE: HOT EMANUEL VS. M. OBAMA POLL]

We’ve bumped up this poll from March 29th. NOTE that this is your last chance to vote before the show tonight! VOTE before 8 p.m. ET.

The cream certainly rose to the top in the second round in the battle for the No Quarter Trophy. The second round of our March Madness tournament had few suprises and almost every match was a blowout. With the field narrowed to 16, we are down to the best of the best. To become our National Champion and wear the title of Biggest Ass on the American Political Landscape, someone will have to rise to the top over some of the most reprehensible people of our time.

BELOW, the scoop on the most suspenseful race last week (Michelle Obama vs. David Axelrod) and your virtual voting booth:

It was a surprising second round as three former National Champions were eliminated in matches that were not even close. Dick Cheney, Ann Coulter and Ted Kennedy (in a likely farewell performance) were all sent packing. The 12th seed in the Capitol Hill Bracket, Senator Claire McCaskill is the lone long shot left in the field as she easily disposed of the 4th seed John Boehner. The most exciting match occurred in the White House Bracket where number two seed Michelle Obama had her hands full with the 7th seed, David Axelrod.

Mrs. Obama pulled it out 54-46.

Your chance to vote in our Sweet 16 starts now. The polls will be open until 8:00 PM EDT on Tuesday. Here are the matchups.

THIS is the kind of lighthearted hilarity I can get behind! Thanks for the coolio…formatting(?). I struggled heavily between Olbermann v. the beast with no name (btw, where’s OGG these days?). The rest were easy picks, for me at least.

Also, sorry to be so obtuse, but who the hell is Andrew Sullivan? Seriously, never heard of him.

Comment by adagioforstrings | 2009-03-29 01:18:17

Andrew Sullivan has a blog on the Atlantic where he obsessed over Palin’s vagina. He was convinced that Trig was secretly Bristol’s baby & demanded DNA analysis.

Comment by I'mFedUp | 2009-03-29 01:30:55

In other words, Andrew Sullivan is another venal, mentally unwell loony leftie.

Comment by AnnieCollier | 2009-03-29 01:42:48

Some of these were a real toss up. But I nailed every one. I picked Sullivan over Dowd simply because Dowd, being an equal opportunity hater you never expect anything else from her about anyone. Sullivan is a crazed 0bot.

Comment by Ani | 2009-03-29 11:14:13

Actually, although he is venal and loonie, he is not a leftie. Sullivan was drooling over Bush in 2000 and also trumpeted the Iraq war, then admitted he was wrong in 2004, then pooped on Hillary and fell in love with Obama in ‘08.

He proves one thing only — he has no taste, no logic and no discernment. But he’s not a leftie. :)

Olbermann and Rachel both of them are a…..holes also Godzila and Chris M.the same. Hard to figure out who is actually the biggest A…

Kos would be my choice, because his selling out his blog had the most lethal effect of all.

Comment by trixta | 2009-03-31 14:49:01

Kos is a cia operative (as stated in an interview given in 2007).

Comment by I'mFedUp | 2009-03-29 01:14:35

I think the big ticket winner should be Pelosi the Pig. She’s the most venal of all of them IMO and the biggest thread to our country’s survival. 0Zero just sits around shooting hoops and bowling, signing whatever Dragon Lady tells him to.

Comment by wodiej | 2009-03-31 11:43:34

LOL…dragon lady. I agree, Pelosi is running the show.

Comment by SoCalDem | 2009-03-29 01:16:48

What happened to Nancy Pelosi? I can’t remember if she was even in the running?

Comment by adagioforstrings | 2009-03-29 01:20:47

The only loser (?) that I voted for is Chris Matthews. All my other votes are in the majority, except Reid, who is only neck & neck with Frank.

Comment by untilthelastdogdies | 2009-03-29 01:21:54

These match-ups are so close I could only pick Dowd over Sullivan and that was stretching it!

Can’t wait to see The Final Four! Can we send them to Detroit for pre-game entertainment????

Comment by lorac | 2009-03-29 01:30:14

OT - but I just couldn’t believe this…

Remember during the primaries when those boys held up a sign that said “Hillary, iron my shirts?”

I was looking around on Free Republic (a republican site), and all this time, they’ve assumed (”known”), that it was something Hillary set up herself! (they have major CDS over there, but they do say that Hillary would have been a better president than BO).

I just couldn’t believe it - those punks were so sexist and insensitive, but of course, there was no SEXISM in the campaign - and now not only that, but where we THOUGHT was sexism, was really a set-up.

Some people should just live on their own planet!

Comment by Sexism is Hate And a Crime | 2009-03-29 07:23:31

They always lie and say “Sexism does not exist, you are mad, stupids or simply men-haters”. That’s the usual attack of sexist men and women.

Comment by TexasMirth | 2009-03-29 01:42:31

The only surprise was Donna Brazile beating Chris Matthews. I voted for Matthews, but apparently Brazile has been offensive enough to garner a substantial lead.

Comment by imustprotest | 2009-03-29 01:52:52

I think Brazile has been a more recent a$$. Tingle has faded, for me at least, b/c I never even watch him anymore.

Comment by sarainitaly | 2009-03-29 08:11:38

donna won out over matthews for me.

donna was a superdelegate, she pretended to be neutral, she threw the race card over *fairytale*, and she told hillary supporters to stay home.

matthews, while vile, is a paid talking head tool. but the thing that was the deciding factor was when he went after that obama supporter and grilled him to name one accomplishment of obama’s. at least he did that…

Comment by Rob G in Chicago | 2009-03-31 12:57:09

Chris Matthews is well aware that he is an ass, though he makes no apologies. Brazile is still viorously in denial, and truly believes that everyone can be fooled by her denials.

Comment by MrX | 2009-03-29 01:51:24

Brazilla was not a shocker. In fact, between her and Obama, I’m still picking Brazilla. She’s the one responsible for giving us Obama, for moving the SC primary up in the calendar and also for removing FL and MI votes. It’s just unfortunate that Chris Matthews got matched up with her. I wanted him to stick around a little more.

My surprise was Oprah winning against Richardson. But Richardson is a nobody, so I can’t be TOO surprised.

This is an awesome concept. Cant’ wait for the next round.

Comment by imustprotest | 2009-03-29 01:55:19

Really, for ALL of them, it’s a DIShonor just to have been nominated. And again, for ALL of them….we REALLY, REALLY don’t like you.

Comment by Diana | 2009-03-29 01:59:49

I think it should have been Pelosi against Reid. Claire against Barney. Chris against Dowd. Olbermann against Oprah. Maddow against Richards. Sullivan against Brazile. Although a couple of those would have been tough to decide. The way it is right now it looks like some of the biggest “A”’s on the planet will be out of the running after this round. Another round that had several that were hard to decide.

Comment by Brodie | 2009-03-29 03:25:52

aw, hell- could I just vote “all of the above” please?

Comment by foxyladi14 | 2009-03-29 17:58:33

you can’t vote for all.if you are picking just one.

Comment by andrew191 | 2009-03-29 03:33:09

Things are shaping up for my predicted love/hate cage match between 0bama and the offensive offal Olberman in the finals. The mere idea of those two grappling with each other has created such a disturbing image in my mind that I may have to inject clorox into my ears to wipe out that mental spectre. While that may cause me to forget everything that I learned in 1969, it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to accept.

Comment by oowawa | 2009-03-29 09:43:01

As obnoxious as Herr Olbermann may be, it appears that Big O is a shoo-in to win yet again. Does the guy ever lose anything? He’s just AWESOME!!!

Comment by Diana | 2009-03-30 02:43:01

If it comes down to the two O’s Olbermann gets my vote. Obama is nothing more than an empty suit puppet for the ventriloquists behind him, none of which are on this list.

Comment by silverfox | 2009-03-31 14:12:46

empty suit puppet…ventriloquists that control, and are not on the list….

that says it all.

Reading your post gave me a very funny mental vision.. Keith Olbermann in a loin cloth, circling Obummer in a wrestler’s stance, and Obummer dancing around in shorts, dribbling a basketball. I am still giggling..thanks!!

The first two were easy for me although I voted against the majority in the second. Rahm Emanuel is vile and repulsive to me. I didn’t really have to give it much thought. Michele is pretty much transparent (unlike the Obama administration). She is an angry woman and ambitious.

The administration officials and media figures are all fair game in this “Sweet Sixteen”, but do you really have to drag the wives into it?

Yeah, Michelle luvs her country now, dontchya know.

Comment by Buzz Latte | 2009-03-31 12:19:49

Michelle gave the go ahead to bring this blight of a husband/president onto the country.
She’s maybe the biggest one to blame. Since she couldn’t keep her house in order- she’s just spreading the socialistic craziness by not keeping her sham husband in check. She may win!

I guess wives are now personally responsible for the actions of their husbands. Interesting to see that sentiment at “feminist” No Quarter.

This is weak! Who voted for these people?

My personal choice is Alan Greenspan.

But he’s in very good company with this list below:

Hank Paulson
Joe Cassano
Eric Holder
Chris Dodd

You’ll see what I mean…

Can we change and cheat the rule for voting , just as BamaCon has done, by putting all of them in one busket and honor them as the team of the champion of the political Asses?

Is this all going to come down to one? Or will they all remain within their respective groupings?

Comment by Ashy1 | 2009-03-31 21:29:05

This is too hard. The field is awash with so many worthy contestants. How does one choose between Harry Reid and Barney Frank? For gawd’s sake between Chris Matthews and Donna Brazile?! You ask the impossible.
