A Damning Exposé of Obama, ACORN, and the New York Times

I saw this segment the other night on O’Reilly but, per usual, Fox failed to post the video. (Lately, many of Fox’s best videos are not getting posted at their site. It’s disappointing.) Anyway, RockTheFacts kindly sent me the video he took care to post:
BELOW, you have to check out an astounding article on a hearing in which ACORN was implicated in voter intimidation and illegal voter fraud, and how Chairman Conyers, caught unaware that ACORN was being implicated in voter fraud and intimidation, along with questionable donation methods, tried quickly to minimize and cover up the damning evidence:
First: The revelations about the New York Times, sadly, are not a shock to any of us. I feel nervous using any Times article as a source because I wonder what has been excised or not investigates, which calls have not been returned or sources not checked. I realized — and so do you — that complete objectivity and “just the facts, ma’am” writing is impossible since all writers and editors are influenced by their conscious and unconscious prejudices and emotions, as well as their reliance on certain sources over others. Stil there should be some effort made, but it’s clear the Times flat out doesn’t care.
The bigger issue here is ACORN. Do you think that Rep. Jerry Nadler will convene a hearing on ACORN? Yeah, me too. Should we compel him to? Shall we raise a stink? I say YES! So, if you have a blog, grab this video, and post it. Link to this video in e-mails and comments at other blogs and in mailing lists. Get the word out.
ALSO: Be sure to include the link to the Townhall article, “ACORN Whistleblowers Produce Shocking Testimony on Capitol Hill.”
Late last week, Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), chairman of the House Committee on the Judiciary, called for a hearing to investigate ACORN. You read that right. At a Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties subcommittee hearing entitled “Lessons Learned from the 2008 Election” last Thursday, witness testimony not only drew Conyers to the subcommittee hearing but events led to Conyers strongly urging that subcommittee chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) conduct a full hearing on ACORN, calling allegations made at the hearing “serious.”
The shocking testimony that began the chain of events came from Pennsylvania attorney Heather Heidelbaugh, who in October of last year represented “a candidate, voters and the Republican State Committee of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania” seeking a preliminary injunction against ACORN and the Secretary of the Commonwealth. The complaint alleged violations of the election code, fraud and misrepresentation, and violations of equal protection and due process.
Heidelbaugh brought with her to the hearing ACORN whistleblowers, including Anita MonCrief, a former Washington, D.C., ACORN employee who came forward to testify last October in the Pennsylvania case. MonCrief, a Democrat who voted for and still supports President Obama, made allegations including the exposure of Obama maxed-out donor lists illegally shared with ACORN, allegations of illegal intermingling of non-profit employees between ACORN and Project Vote, and the use of intimidation tactics and training methods to skirt regulations, among many other assertions.
Testimony also revealed ACORN’s unofficial “Muscle for the Money” program directed at fundraising from corporations. Allegations were made of payments from Service Employees International Union (SEIU) to ACORN’s D.C office to harass The Carlyle Group and specifically David Rubenstein, a founder of the company. Even though ACORN D.C. had no interest in The Carlyle Group, they were allegedly paid by SEIU to go break up a banquet and protest at Rubenstein’s house.
It was called “Muscle for the Money” because they would go “intimidate people and protest.” Targets of the protests included Sherwin-Williams, H&R Block, Jackson Hewitt, and Money Mart among others, testimony revealed. The apparent purpose was to get money from the targeted entities for ACORN.
Perhaps the most controversial accusation revealed by whistleblower testimony was the scheme by which ACORN and Project Vote are paid by foundations per voter registered and the submission of copies of actual voter registration cards to the foundations, which is a violation of federal law.
I spoke with whistleblower Anita MonCrief at the hearing. “ACORN itself is sometimes paid by foundations per registration and, in some case,s they would send copies of the voter registration cards straight to the funder,” MonCrief said. “Workers are improperly trained. … They are trained to never ask, ‘Are you registered to vote?’ because if the person says ‘Yes,’ they have to move on. They ask, ‘Did you vote in the last election,’ and if the person says ‘No,’ they register them again. This is how they duplicate registrations and flood the offices.”
When these allegations began to surface in hearing testimony, Conyers suddenly appeared at the subcommittee hearing and asked to be recognized, saying that he was “… unaware that this was a hearing on ACORN.” Conyers probed those assembled, asking if any representatives of ACORN were present to defend the organization. Conyers called the accusations made against ACORN a “pretty serious matter.” When no one from ACORN came forth, he asked subcommittee chairman Nadler to hold a hearing on ACORN so the organization could defend itself, to which a shocked Nadler replied, “I’ll take it under advisement.”
Conyers pressed the matter, saying, “I think that it would be something that would be worth our time. We’ve never had one person representing ACORN before the committee. … I think in all fairness we ought to really examine it.” An exasperated Nadler said he would hold a hearing when he had “credible allegations of misconduct.”
Nadler abruptly dismissed the panel shortly thereafter. …
WHAT A COVER-UP.

Tuck the Fimes. That paper has become increasingly irrelevant. It stood by while Dubya screwed the pooch, failing to make an honest evaluation and then did so again with That One and once again failed to actually do any real reporting.
They’re a has-been rag.
Faux journalists like Jason Nagourney got us into the Iraq War.
The Press/Journalism died in 2008!
Not so sure it was every much alive. I think “journalism” or “free press” was an advertising campaign to get us to buy the NY Times or the Rocky Mountain News or the Mpls Star Tribune.
We all said the voter fraud would be exposed eventually, but the question is this: Will the voters of America REALLY care how their votes are counted, or will they sit back and say–as I’ve been hearing all along when I try to address the problem of voter fraud: “Well, you know all politicians are dishonest”?
It’s the fundamentally most important principle of democracy: Honest elections. Yet people make excuses if they think they personally will benefit from the fraud.
What you said and in addition, they make excuses because:
they are completely oblivious to the chicanery going on
or
they don’t care so long as they get their sparkly things to occupy all the time they have on their useless hands.
Excellent point, Diana.
Just so you know (and everyone else, too, of course), once I get back from vacation, the issue of voter fraud, and election fraud in general, will be dealt with in a comprehensive manner (film, live chat, etc.). That is to say, I hear you, I agree with you, and we must fight for this critical right.
And this ACORN hearing - wow - what does it say abt us as a nation that our leaders try to kill this kind of investigation??? It is reprehensible what Conyers has tried to do.
I always had a very high respect for Congressman Conyers. It saddens me to no end to see someone that did so much good, now stand against the voting rights protection of others.
I saw him on May 31st at the DC DNC RBC meeting and I just sighed as I learned why he was there. Before that, Conyers to me was a giant and a person I viewed through a historic prism.
I also feel that the many “conspiracy theorists” out there are partially to blame. Notice how Morris had to point out that now they may have a real reason to bolster belief in their theories about world government? (Will the public take him seriously? I don’t think so.)
Well, it’s because we have had so many conspiracy theories floating around about everything, that nobody believes the real dangers when they finally come about.
I resent that The New York Times by NOT going with this story when it could have helped to make my friends and family think twice about labeling me as someone who had “fallen” for a conspiracy theory.
It is a sad day for journalism in this country–such an important responsibility and used so irresponsibly.
The Times is one of the major databases in most public and research libraries. Students wanting to read first-time reports of historical events may often have only the Times microfiche files in their libraries for a source. Now I might feel hesitation about using them as a source for that kind of historical research.
Then use truly reputable sources on the Internet. There are many out there that are probably better sources for information than that rag.
I miss Dick Morris and his POV. He’s warped.
That was an excellent point that makes the NY Times’ choices more damaging. NY Times, or any other paper, by withholding articles or slanting coverage is tainting research for future histories. Video and aural media might have more detail and would be in the real voices of interviewers but often lack the supposed “fact checks” that papers supposedly. Then video and aural media often are not searchable due to lack of transcripts.
The New York Slimes…
Traitors in our midst….
Things got out of hand when the American public let the 2000 election chicanery slide. The MSM didn’t do their job then. Things have gone rapidly down hill from there. This is a result that won’t end with Obama.
There isn’t a shred of evidence that ACORN even attempted, let alone succeeded, in producing one fraudulent vote in last November’s general election or any other. Nobody named Donald Duck or Elmer Fudd showed up at the polls and if some 5′6″ guy named LeBron James did, its because he really had the same name as the basketball star. This Rock the Facts is truly pathetic as a cursory glance at their website reveals; I don’t know who brainwashes these kids up to making these right-wing extremist youtube rants denying global warming, letting untrammeled oil drilling rip everywhere, etc., but it is truly sick making. And don’t get me started on Dick “Toesucker” Morris.
So what’s your point? It’s o.k. to mess with the lives of all those ladies (usually) who work hard to verify voters? That’s an honorable way to treat the election process as far as you’re concerned? And why in the heck shouldn’t O be involved with ACORN if they do such “noble” work? You have the mind of a frat boy. Why not answer the story by addressing the issue. It’s still clear that if ACORN turns in valid voter registrations, they’ve been targeted as probably O voters. It’s still possible that O’s campaign was breaking some voting laws. And argue agains what Morris says about O’s turning over American control of the banking system to Europe. If that’s what he’s doing and you think it’s o.k., then how do you justify not letting Americans have a say about it?
In your mind, if you really have one that is not programmed, you know everything and we know nothing. And that dear dbb is hubris, a fatal flaw on your part according to most playwrights.
Just amazing. Corruption in Chief
What the heck happened to Morris? Did he find out he is dying? When did he grow a conscience? The little weasel I can’t stand him EssssPECIALLY when he SEEMS TO BE telling the WHOLE truth!
dayum
this only makes me more angry - ACORN needs to be SHUT DOWN YA’LL!! TODAY!
