From Track’s blog on April 3, 2009. Wish I’d seen this sooner, but, really, it’s timeless. Warning: Have no beverages or food in your mouth when you view the last image. – Susan

Once you’ve done something for the first time, it’s always easier the second time around. And with that shallow justification, I again pimp out my blog to the Rule 5 Sunday extravaganza, brainchild of The Other McCain.
Carla Bruni. Singer-songwriter. Hot. Model. Hot. First Lady of France.
Did I mention that she’s hot?
She’s also cool. Not buying into the whole Obama cult of personality, Carla today decided to offer the president a rather formal hand to shake, rather than her exquisite, soft, slightly perfumed cheek to kiss. Sigh.
I’m not altogether surprised, given the track record of how she’s been kissed by other national leaders. If you want to see exactly how not to kiss a woman, ever, then click here. But be warned – it’s not pleasant.

The Guys a PUKE…
So sad for Obama. Carla moves away faster than Jill Biden, but then she’s probably had more experience.
LOL. Carla probably didn’t want Michelle or the Obot women of America to get jealous.
THOSE BLUE/PURPLE LIPS SCARED HER!!!
i agree there prity freaky
Yuk!
There is certianly an great example of giving “No Quarter.”
That guitar looks great!
She is lovely.
reminds me of shannon daugherty? (of 90210 fame)
Yes, the little frenchman is a lucky leader especially when you put him beside OUR first ?? what ever she is certainly not Lady. mon dieu
Ewwwwwwwwwww. I’m surprised that Gordon didn’t try to lick her face.
As for Barry, he thought he was all Rico Suave and then got totally DIS-ed! C’est damage. The French kiss EVERYONE! Even Quasimodo of Notre Dame would get two pecks from Carla. The woman probably knows arrogance when she sees it.
Michelle Obama gifted Carla Bruni a Gibson J45 Legend guitar while visiting. (Not the nylon strung instrument we’re seeing in the photo above.) A very fine choice, as any serious player will tell you. Figure on dropping about $9,000 if you’d like one of your own.
I play a Guild D50, I have had for the last 35 years.
My favorite guitar was a pre WWII Martin 35. On the small side but really great sound.
As a musician, I must say it is a suprise that MO changed up from Ipods and Region 1 DVD’s…
I’ve got a Taylor 615 I’m partial to; also a ‘72 Strat and a vintage Washburn with humbuckers. But my old cheapo Yamaha G-85A seems to get the daily attention. I play finger-style and love the tones that can be pulled from nylon cords.
That is impressive cynic. Why do you suppose she gave so much thought (and money) to a gift for the French First Lady and shortchanged Ms. Brown?
I have no clue.
Man, the queen got slighted with just an i-pod.
Let’s see. Carla has had several careers, used her talents, lived in different countries and never ever said she wasn’t proud of France. Yup, she’s a first lady.
So Gordon Brown is one of those sloppy lip kissers, yuk.
Note to Michelle: Carla has better arms. LOL!
You are so mean! HA!!! I noticed that about her arms as well. I bet Mechelle did too. Ha!
I believe BHO withdrew from Carla’s kiss the other day — so Bruni was just taking the hint.
Carla’s past is not so classy.
That’s a moral judgment Anna. I hate to say it, but I believe her past affairs wouldn’t be a problem for her husband so why would they be for her?
Excuse me. My meaning was unclear. I believe any past affairs her husband has had would not be a problem for him.
That’s right. When you extol someone as wonderful and classy, I am going to look at who she is, not only what she wears.
If fact, we all do the same with B.H.O. — we are very moralistic about money, for example. I guess that says something about where we are as a culture.
I have no problem with C.B., and I like her clothes, but what message do you think it sends to kids and young people when we (including MSM) see people evaluated strictly on the basis of whether they are “hot”?
And yes, of course, I want men held to exactly the same standard. One of many reasons our public life is a cesspool is that we don’t.
I agree with everything you say Anna. Men are held to a different standard and I also have a problem the way women are depicted in the media. I think what I have trouble with is condemning another woman for choices she made based on what she has learned society expected of her. This pic and others were taken before she married and hopefully, she has grown as a woman and understands that while she is blamed for the pics, the ones who used her to sell mags or clothes will not be or the ones who have purchased the mags to drool over her pics. I would hate for someone to bring up some of the choices I made as a young woman and judge me on that basis. There is a wonderful quote from Alice In Wonderland: ” But it’s no use going back to yesterday. I was a different person then.”
I didn’t condemn her, Elise. I said that her past was less than classy. I don’t think she’s fabulous and a role model, that’s all.
She’s good looking and I like her clothes. I wish her the best.
0bama’s past is not that classy either. He was a drug addict.
The Obamas’ past isn’t that classy either – just secret. Michelle Obama was prohibited from practicing law although the reason why is secret.
So you can’t compare Bruni’s open life with the unknown past of both Obamas. They may be hiding a worst past than what you judge Bruni’s to be. After all, we know the Obamas did attended a racist and bigoted church for more than 20 years and was proud of it when they were caught. Can’t say that about Carla.
The American press is trying too hard to define Michelle Obama as a fashion icon, and she clearly is not. She does not dress to suit her body type, wears the most garish of prints better suited for shower curtains or draperies, and next to the elegance of Carla, simply disappeared. I can’t believe that some American designer like Michael Kors can’t be brought in to dress her appropriately and elegantly. “Doing her own thing” is not working.
The American fashion industry has been laying cheap, flimsy, and downright ugly eggs the last couple of years. But that’s no excuse for some of the get-ups Michelle has worn.
Michelle needs to stop with the Ghetto Chic. She looks like those dumpy wives of the old russian premiers. But wait, Michelle likes communism, so maybe there’s a correlation there.
Love it!
Uggh MEchelle trying to go toe- to- toe with Carla Bruni in a fashion showdown was painful to watch. Immature, and the height of insecurity. And the MSM bought into it like it was a competition between high school cliques. Carla Bruni is a stunning beautiful woman, with a body made for haute couture. The french design houses deck her out like a walking advertisment, showcasing their talents. The only response to that from a mature, secure woman is to be gracious and just let her shine.
The difference between Mrs. Obama and Mrs. Bruni is night and day. The photo showed that Carla Bruni could have met Michelle in jeans and t shirt and still out shown her. I once heard it said that a certain person never met a rhinestone she didn’t like and that description fits Michelle to a T. Everything she wore looked like it came from that on line designer that dressed Rue Paul. She would have looked more appropriate in J Crew, or The GAP!
If she didn’t know how to dress for the events she would be attending; she and her staff should have gone over photos of how other wives of dignitaries dressed at these events. (Especially that visit to the Queen is more formal that a low cut t shirt, cardigan and full skirt.) Or, since she “hit it off” with Mrs. Brown, perhaps she could have asked her for advice.
And what was that Pilgrim outfit she wore in Turkey about? With that grim expression on her face I doubt anyone wanted to approach her – did they botox her until she can’t smile?
Did you see Oscar de la Renta had a cow because Mechelle wore a cardigan to meet the queen? Bwahaha! Showing off those biceps no matter what or who.
I liked the writer who compared the Obama’s outfits and manners at Buckingham Place to two funeral directors ushering an elderly couple thru a service. HA! That was a good one.
I agree with Judy completely… Indeed, Michele needs to stop being a wannabe. She is first lady and no matter how hard these American designers are trying to push their designs through Michele, it will not catch on. First of all, the colors Michele chose for her clothes are too dark for early spring. Besides because of her dark skin, she should refrain wearing dark colors because it makes her even look darker. I remember my son’s buddy who is an Ivy League school graduate came up to our front door one evening and my son said to him… Can you please smile? He is an AA and although that was a joke between the two of them, I chastised my son for saying so.. And back to Michele, if she continues wearing those dark colors, she might as well keep smiling so we can actually see her.
BTW, Thakoon and those other designers who are non whites have good designs but even with their talent, they can’t make Michele gorgeous looking like Jackie Kennedy.
Buzze Latte
LOL – MO brought along 8 personal assistants to achieve her look….
Anna
Carla’s past personal affairs were messy. However, they pale in comparison to MO’s pay for play job at the University of Chicago and the crooked way the Obamas bought their mansion with Rezko’s help.
or that she was disbarred for insurance fraud
so..she has been disbarred and for insurance fraud?
What a waste of a space at Princeton! Her south-side Chicago roots are so very evident!
Right. While Carla Bruni was born to great wealth and privilage, was blessed by nature with an uncommon beauty, attended exclusive boarding schools in Switzerland, and completed her higher education in Paris, Michelle Obama was the great-great grandaughter of a slave, grew up on the blighted south side of Chicago, and somehow managed to find her way to Princeton University, Harvard Law School, and eventually the White House.
So, we admire Ms. Bruni’s accomplishments–idolize her, almost, having been stunned by her person–but are unrelentingly harsh in our judgements of Ms. Obama, deeming everything about her from her appearance to her personal accomplishments comtemptible, inauthentic, and not up to our high standards.
There’s something about this that strikes me as a sort of shabby, patently false elitism. The falseness of it is revealed when we make the assumption that Ms. Bruni shares the sentiment.
You are ridiculous. Plenty of people born in poverty rise up and conduct themselves with grace and dignity. And, yes, in the AA community. Stop excusing this garbage all the time. She is evil, hate filled, and she got a free ride to Harvard off us “whitey” folks she pisses on all day. Read her illiterate thesis? The same society she craps on gave her a chance and free ride. She repaid it with hate. Did you see how she treated Hillary? There is no excuse for this pig. None. And she sure as hell will never be First Lady material. What a joke.
Oh God …how pathetic you are. Carla is plain ol’ beautiful to look at with all the glamour and pizzizz that makes up a damn starlet…and MOBO is NOT…end of story! End of story.
Who is more gracious? Carla…she doesn’t have ape like walk or demeanor, unlike MOBO…and that does alot for general appeal, no doubt. But of course then comes the ingracious statement of not being proud of her country…let alone building a career (like Oboobi to) in trying to destroy this country and all whites in it….that does nothing for her overall graciousness and likability for me and many others. She never accomplished anything–even with all the help of the poverty pimps in the world.
And yet there she is–with her “bad clothes” and “ape-like walk”–in the White House and on the world stage. Apparently your perceptions of Barack Obama, his intentions, and his family are not shared by a majority of Americans, so your contempt–verging sometimes on outright hatred–has grown to include not only the first family, but a majority of your fellow Americans as well.
I’m sorry you feel that way, but have no suggestions useful to anyone who is determined to draw all of their energy from anger, hostility, and resentment. I’ll only comment that it may eventually burn you out.
Cynic..there you go again..Mrs Obama is a disbarred attorney. She was faced with a tough decision..give up law in Illinois voluntarily or be exposed as the fraud she is.
It has to be an egregious event that would bar an attorney from practicing law in Illinois. You may want to see what happened to her law license before you speak. My suggestion for you would be …maybe you should stop commenting on what you feel or wish and take a look at reality.
So, what were the circumstances that led her to agree to suspend her practice of law in Illinois? Misconduct had nothing to do with it.
She was not actually disbarred. Her Illinois Registration Status reads: “Voluntarily inactive and not authorized to practice law–Last Registered Year: 1993.” A further comment exists, which has fueled much speculation: “No malpractice report required as attorney is on court ordered inactive status.” You can see that all on the official ARDC website page here:
http://www.iardc.org/ldetail.asp?id=974460005
The comment many have jumped on doesn’t actually imply any sort of wrongdoing. All it refers to is the fact that, prior to 2000, an Illinois attorney had to obtain formal consent of the Illinois Supreme Court to cease practice. Granting of that consent took the form of a court order. The entry simply means that Michelle Obama sought that consent, and it was granted.
As the linked reference below reveals, if any sort of disciplinary action had been involved, it would be so stated on the ARDC entry. The relevant entry space clearly indicates that this was not the case.

I guess we will go one with the Patriarchal standards of beauty when it comes to women. I actually don’t appreciate any comments about Michelle Obama in regards to how she looks, dresses or walks. I find it no different than the hate filled patriarchal BS that Hillary Clinton endured or even Sarah Palin.
I also do not understand why the Media persists in some high school drama regarding women who are either powerful or married to powerful men. It always seems to me that people have never resolved their adolescent insecurities and need to replay them constantly. It is time to get a life demanding more from ourselves.
Oh cynic..you are getting worse every day…she was involved in an insurance scam with her friends who are now on Barack’s inner circle. When a lawyer gets bunked they seal official files as part of the deal. You will never read ‘officially’ on a website. Ask another attorney in Chicago to find out for you. That is what we had to do.
Just like Barack said on 4 separate occasions four different ways…I have no records of my eight years as an Illinois State Legislator..look it up and read his excuses for the ‘disappearing’ act…
I’d take Carla and her messy life over the corruption and screwing over of uninsured people that Michelle has done.
Michelle is no shining example. She really the poster child for being a cheat.
Karma is a bitch and Michelle deserves a visit from her.
Well I know me personally, I would much rather want to party and make out with Eric Clapton over Larry Sinclair.
LOL! I’ve seen Eric Clapton – he’s very nice looking.
Cynic,
I hadn’t read that about the guitar gift. Thank you! I feel another post coming on…
I have one of Carla Bruni’s CDs. She’s great, really. I don’t understand french, but she makes me want to learn the language.
Here’s a couple of videos I love:

Speaking of Michelle’s 8 personal assistants, wonder if the MSM will give us a final accounting of how much Obama’s 500 person entourage’s European trip cost the taxpayer. The excess spending of this administration turns my stomach, especially at a time when Obama is expecting me to tighten my belt. Leaders lead by example, guess Harvard forgot to teach him that.
Maybe Carla had seen 0bama kiss Jill Biden on the lips and repelled..

Track, check the Huff and puff calling Bruni and MO heavenly creatures of fashion (I won’t link) — they are half right.
They also have an article ” Michelle has lost her mind”. LOL Did you see that royal blue outfit she wore to the London Opera House!? What’s with the sweater? Schizophrenic half argyle, half glitter, buttoned wrong. And I see that awful damn fugly black belt from the campaign has returned. That leather spiky thing needs to be burned!
I don’t care what she wears. It is these ignoramuses from huff and puff cheering her on and on that irritates the hell out of me. In another article they concluded France now had ceded its place in fashion and style matters. Really! Are they crazy? It’s like blind leading the blind.
Be grateful MO has not adopted the Farrakhan fashions…she goes that route in the second term! LOL!
I have MO Rant…. I happened to be up early yesterday baking sticky buns and turned on the kitchen TV to CNN…catching the last half hour of a Larry King rerun discussing the one-sided Jackie O comparisons. They played a clip of MO’s speech at the girls school north of London where she said ’she was the product of all that is good in America and if you study hard, you, too, can be as successful as I am.’ BARF! WTF has SHE done besides marrying Barky????? Is that what she was saying? That in order to be a success in the world you need to marry well? Has the clock turned back and nobody told me?
1- kissing on the cheeks- speaking of experience after all my dad was french, this goes when you know the person i.e. if you have been introduced before. No one raised in eyebrow in FRANCE as the the french would have been shocked if Carla SArkozy had kissed the US president , that would have been a faux pas on HER part, french protocole goes way….back so dont blame BHO here
2- as for fashion, yes Carla is a former model and yes the french firms are using her as she has to be used as a cloth hanger – a porte manteau
this a a french expression meaning uyou are to wear and show the clothes you wear, a french lady whether royal or republican has to show the french industry savoir faire, dont forget fashion in france is a serious business which brings in billions of dollars for the french treasure. Besides as for station if life dont forget Carla was an very wealthy itilian heiress, she knows demure behaviour even she does not live to it. By the way to my knowledge she is spotless since she married. The french dont mind their ladies to have a past as long as they are spotless once they marry …Caesar wife reputation…
I loved Carla evening gown as it will show to Michelle one can show arms and yet keep it chic…
But then again dont forget, all those things and protocole et etiquette are inborn ingrained in her life and the french protocole . We speak of 1500ys here….with the best will only Jackie knew how the game was played…
Gordy must dig Carla, big time.
The Obamas don’t know how to do the greeting, noticed Michelle twisting her lips to smooch Carla’s cheek in one pic. Lips are not to touch the other person’s face, the greeting is to touch cheek to cheek and kiss or not kiss the air.
Yeah, here we are again. We can all love Carla Bruni because she’s HOT. That’s all us womenfolk are good for anyway, right?
all so obot boy had a viral head cold and she didnt want his viral gunk all over her face.obama germs uck
