Obama’s Idiotic Banter

And his idiotic answer not answering the reporter’s question. You may say, “what is new” and I say “nothing.”

Obama called on an Indian reporter, Simrat Ghuman at his G20 presser. She alluded to Obama’s meeting with the Indian PM, Dr. Manmohan Singh (yes, he has a Ph.D. in Economics and is largely credited with the economic turn around of the subcontinent) and then asked Obama the question about what America was going to do to help India deal with terrorism emanating from Pakistan.

Obama started by saying “your PM is a wonderful man..” The reporter said “Thank you, I agree..” But then it took a turn for the weird with Obama making this idiotic comment: “Did you have something to do with that?” Watch:

If you didn’t hear his answer, there was something about carbon footprint. It is astounding that he is where he is today.

In other news, you remember the picture of the G20ers with the Queen, where the only guy with a million dollar smile that he can’t afford is Obama. In the video below, you can see him getting ready to flash his smile and there is something very unnatural about it. He must take the edict “Smile” to heart whenever a picture is taken. Incidentally the Queen did not like being told to smile for that picture and asked what they were celebrating.

g20queen

clowns

And you remember the Italian guy, Berlusconi? Here he is with our million dollar smile guy and the Russian dude.

Well, Mr. Berlusconi apparently caused a stir by shouting “OBAMA” at the end of the photo shoot which made the Queen ask, “why does he have to shout?” Yeah, really why?

What is it that makes Obama attract losers like Berlusconi?

Here is some more idiotic banter from the smartest man on earth: Obama does not know the term for wheeling and dealing in Austrian language, he confesses. But what he does not know is that there is no Austrian language. Their official language is German. What the hell do they teach in these Ivy League schools, ha? Bit by bit, the man behind the curtain emerges.

It is a national disgrace to have elected this man as leader of the free world. This is a slap in the face, for all those who have gone before him, who worked hard, studied the issues, and actually knew something about America and the world. Instead we are stuck with this wannabe, who doesn’t have a clue, and doesn’t seem to care to learn what is takes to be a good President. Obama lacks the curiosity of a Bill Clinton, and his hubris does not allow him to acknowledge that he doesn’t know the ways of the world. How many mistakes will he make, before the media stops it’s coverup, and forgiving attitude?

Comment by Kathy | 2009-04-06 22:32:35

That first video makes me ashamed to live in the country the idiot leads. First he says he’s going to take one question from a foreigner–who says stuff like that anymore??? Then he says he’s not going to show gender bias so he’ll call on a woman whom he then proceeds to ridicule. Nothing new there. She asks about terrorism, he blathers about low-hanging fruit and carbon footprints. Please do what you can to make this video viral. Even the bots will have a tough time explaining away this one.

That’s enough. The same POTUS who assures the rest of the world, the days of U.S. arrogance are over; arrogantly displays that, notwithstanding he was woefully incompetent to hold the position, he nonetheless lied cheated and stole his way into the job, because he could. (’I don’t speak Austrian’? Responding to an interviewer’s question more than a year ago, his wife said he could not be President because he hadn’t done anything yet, in the Senate. Evidently, he did nothing in school as well.)

It is better than “inspecting every utterance of President Obama for something to” believe he is salvation.

UBM, is it snark that I express my utter disgust at BO’s inability to speak with out TOTUS? Or get his facts straight? Or inject himself directly into an EU issue?

Comment by andrew191 | 2009-04-08 22:48:50

What is “So sad” UBM is that it takes very little vigilance to find something 0bama says to be snark worthy. Just about everything that dribbles out of his pie hole is snark worthy. I can safely say that our concern is more focused on that disturbing aspect of 0bama’s flawed character that it is on an occasional gaffe. Hell, he’s a walking gaffe factory. And his speaches are nothing more than recycled cut and paste platitudes and bumper sticker sentiments. He’s a shallow pond.

What is also “So sad” UBM is that you, and people like you, are now becoming increasingly desperate apologists for a man/child with the general regard and esteem of a beached squid. When Joe Biden said that 0bama was articulate, he may have had an alternate definition of articulate in mind. 0bama has displayed a remarkable ability to articulate at the waste when kissing the rings and asses of other World leaders. And now you UBM have displayed the same talent with your multiple tochis dives into 0bama’s cloaca.

That was an incredibly prophetic book including the effort to stifle the press and opposition, cathnealon. The first vid is embarrassing. He could have been tired, but he appeared to be making a joke of the whole thing and you have to wonder why the press is still providing cover for him when he doesn’t respect them enough to at least try to answer the question. I have nothing against talking about clean energy since it’s an important issue, but this reporter obviously wanted something to take back to her country on the subject of Pakistan.

Comment by FLDemFem | 2009-04-07 13:14:38

Well, since he was obviously planning his speech in Turkey all about how he is practically a Muslim, etc. he probably didn’t want to come down hard on a Muslim country regarding terrorism just before he lauded the Muslims for their contribution to society, or whatever. He blew her off so he wouldn’t look like a fool. Which he did anyway, but hey, can’t blame him for trying. And Pakistan was bombed his first week in office, surely that sent the message to them that terrorism is a no-no. And by blowing off the woman reporter, he also sent the message to his Muslim audience that he thinks as little of women as they do. From his point of view, it was a win-win situation.

I can’t believe that race baiting, fat ugly, self loathing pig POS liar UBM came back around. Why the hell NQ allows him here…during the primary and election he pretended to be black. What a smack in the AA community’s face. But, worse, he fueled an already ugly racially tense “selection” and everyone was afraid to confront this jizzbrain because they thought he was a little victim black man. Turns out he is just a really sad, ugly, mean spirited, nasty pig who is taking out the fact that no woman in their right mind has screwed him since 1957 when he was a pimply faced fat little pig with $20 for a hooker.

Hey! I’m a socially liberal, fiscally conservative gay woman in the SF Bay Area, and I did not vote for Obama, I do not support his policies, and I can’t stand that the crooked DNC cheated and rigged the election for him. Your comments piss me off!

This site, as I understand it, is not a right-wing site. Larry Johnson was a Clinton supporter,as were many of us here during the primary. So don’t go telling liberals to get on a boat around here.

We’ve got a big problem. His name is Obama, and right now his administration is pushing through “stimulus” packages that are gutting the country, budgets that do the same, and a myriad of bills that are taking away our rights as citizens and concentrating power for the executive branch.

If we don’t band together to do something, we are going to be living like peons in a dictatorship. So don’t be so quick to ditch us “libs.” Many of us -did not support him, and now it will take all of us-conservative and liberal alike- to resist and defeat this fraud.

Comment by Senneth | 2009-04-07 02:55:12

Yes, Scout. I, too, am a liberal who did not vote for That One and want to see him and his cabal gone from office. He is continuing the Dubya legacy of disregarding the Constitution and expanding executive powers. I wish SCOTUS would their job. I continue to write my members of congress with little effect. So much for representation. And we do need to stick and work together to get rid of him and the current crop of congress people.

So knock-off the liberal pissing– tho I know it’s hard with that crap programmed in. I’m a domestic liberal and a very conservative foreign affairs voter. I do not support Obama or any of his ilk. I don’t like being called names, like bigot, either, nor do I like being slurred by “liberal.” I will vote for Palin if she runs– unless, like the Obots, you liberal haters convince me to vote for someone else.

Comment by Cig | 2009-04-07 13:14:15

The founding fathers were libertarians (see also classical liberalism) and not liberals (today’s definition). Some of their beliefs were (paleo)conservative leaning. Sorry to burst your bubbles. Please educate yourself with the History of the founders. Thanks!

Comment by Woodhull | 2009-04-07 18:54:20

Umm. Better go back to your history books. No, not the revisionist versions but the actual history of the founding of America. Liberals? Hmmm? No. Actually they were lovers of self-government, not nanny-state Democratic party, liberal, lets-start-the-”social change”-movement-and-dumb-down-Americans-through-the-public-school-system liberals who hold sway in the WH now.

I wish I had a buck for every time I’ve heard or read a liberal describe themselves as “fiscally conservative but socially progressive.” I doubt they even know what they are saying.

Comment by Scout | 2009-04-08 02:17:51

Uh, I know what I’m saying, thanks.

I’m socially progressive because I support personal liberty, including the right of gay people to marry if they choose, for women to determine whether or not they give birth, and for citizens to be largely free of government coercion and surveillance. I think we have a long way to go in the U.S. in terms of maximizing the potential of individuals and I’d like to see us do better in that regard.

I’m fiscally conservative because I support paying for social services as you create/use them, keeping tax rates low, creating as few impediments to entrepreneurship and job creation as possible, and balancing the budget. I also think entitlements should be limited (and that includes corporate welfare-but not social security).

Socially progressive does not automatically mean agreeing to massive social spending that is wasteful or ineffective. Fiscally conservative does not necessarily mean axing social programs when they are cost effective or add some other valuable element to society. It’s not inconsistent to be both, maybe you should consider it.

Libs have made the U.S. the laughing stock of the world…

And George Bush didn’t?? And the people who elected Obummer can hardly be called “liberals” since they were too blinded by Kool-Aid to do any thinking whatsoever. They bought into false advertising and didn’t check out the product. Don’t forget that MILLIONS of us warned you, or tried to, about Obummer. We wanted the person who could not only do the job, but explain to everyone how she was doing it. Obummer can’t seem to string two sentences together without checking out the little computer on the podium, which seems to have replaced his Teleprompter. Before you condemn liberals, read this.

A Day in the Life of Joe Republican

Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and that they work as advertised.

All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer’s medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance – now Joe gets it too.

He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe’s bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.

In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained.

Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air.

He walks on the government-provided sidewalk to subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe’s employer pays these standards because Joe’s employer doesn’t want his employees to call the union.

If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he’ll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn’t think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

It is noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe’s deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe’s money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.

Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime. Joe also forgets that his in addition to his federally subsidized student loans, he attended a state funded university.

Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards to go along with the tax-payer funded roads.

He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers’ Home Administration because bankers didn’t want to make rural loans.

The house didn’t have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification.

He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn’t have to.

Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn’t mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day. Joe agrees: “We don’t need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I’m a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have.”

Comment by Scout | 2009-04-07 11:53:59

There you go. This goes deeper than a liberal/conservative split. If we all don’t see what the “other side” has to offer (like Joe doesn’t in your vignette)we are going to beat each other into the ground while Obama becomes a dictator and all the riches of this country are shunted to the ultra rich.

We’d better get over our labels, and fast.

Comment by Senneth | 2009-04-07 16:34:54

Scout, ditto. Thank you FLDemFem for the vignette. I enjoyed it.

What a load of crap, with all due respect. That kind of narrow minded stereo type is silly. I’m a Republican and that certainly isn’t my day. I believe in Pro-Choice, Pro Gay Marriage, etc. I just don’t want to live in a socialist/facist piece of shit country that Pelosi the Pig and her thieves are turning us into. Not only that, but the liberals nuts BROUGHT us Obama. He WASN’T the GOP Candidate, was he? So, I can hate the left forever because Obama is 1,000 times more destructive to this country than Bush could ever have been. Thank God the smart people are finally getting off the Bush crap. It’s old and tired. I didn’t vote for him, either time, and I was a registered Indie until the Dems destroyed the democratic process during the Primary, violated Hillary, brought us Obama, and are rapidly turning America into a Banana Republic. Anyone proud to be a Dem right now should seek mental health care. Period.

Comment by Scout | 2009-04-07 12:45:07

Well, I certainly agree with your last sentence!

And I don’t want to live in a fascist country either. But frankly, I don’t know who brought us Obama. The majority of democratic voters voted for Hillary. Leaders in the DNC violated all democratic principles and manipulated the primary and convention to cart B0 across the finish line in the most despicable and corrupt display of power I have ever seen.

I don’t know why they betrayed us. I think there is some level of control here that goes beyond liberals in congress and is much, much, bigger.

I would bet that you and I have more in common pollitically right now, ImFedUp, than I have with my old Dem friends. I think/hope the people of this country revolt against the growing tyranny. I’d like to be your ally. I think people who are seeing clearly right now need to stick together.

Comment by I'mFedUp | 2009-04-07 13:25:08

Scout…I am tired of the partisan nonsense and rants about Bush. All I want is the partisan crap to stop and for us to take down the most dangerous administration and Congress in history. I’m sorry to say that they are Dems, but they are. As for someone commenting that it “wasn’t the Dems who brought us Obama?” What kind of moronic crap is that. He was THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY NOMINEE. NOT THE GOP NOMINEE. The GOP wouldn’t have ever let someone so filthy and America hating take this country over. Now, if we can stop pointing fingers at Bush, and start telling the truth about who and what party is actually in the process of destroying us, maybe by 2010 we can do something to stop it. PERIOD. And shame on the HRC voters who can have ONE GOOD THING to say about their frigging party. You come here and complain about what was done to your Queen, but it was done by YOUR OWN. The GOP had NOTHING to do with this last phony “election.” So let’s move off Bush, share the blame for where we are and MOVE ON.

Comment by Scout | 2009-04-07 14:29:50

I respect your opinion, but I disagree that the GOP had nothing to do with the outcome of the election. GOP pundits damned Clinton and then had faint praise for McCain. I know, because I followed him and Palin closely and even voted for them. The lack of strong support for the GOP ticket was stunningly out of character for the Republican party. Even Rove talked up Obama.

Like I said, I think this goes way beyond the parties. The media played a pivotal role, and pundits on both sides pushed this outcome. I think B0 was preferred by the powers that controlled the process because he is owned by them, in a way that neither Hillary or McCain is. They’re fighters who love this country. B0, I afraid, is neither.

Comment by I'mFedUp | 2009-04-07 14:46:48

Yes you are right about certain things the GOP did wrong. Frankly, I think they knew the Bush situation would mean a loss, and I think they were smart to lose this one and let the Dems implode, which they are.

But, I will say it again, the Dems found Obama. They committed massive amounts of fraud to assault Hillary and get her out of the race, and they shoved this prick down our throats. I will never forgive them, never. You can blame the GOP for not showing up to vote, or for McCain being “weak” (which I don’t agree with by the way) but Obama would NOT be destroying this country if the Dems didn’t violate every democratic voting principle to steal and/or buy him this election. I’m sorry, but I’m too angry and bitter to let that one be a hall pass.

That said, it doesn’t mean I want to go on the partisan rants that people go on as far as Republican hate, and blaming Bush for what the Dems actually did, like Freddie and Fannie. What I agree on is that all of the past should be done with and we should DO SOMETHING to get this jerk out of the White House.

Comment by Scout | 2009-04-07 15:20:33

I didn’t buy the line that McCain was weak, or that his claim to be a reformer was untrue. What I said was his support was weak. And as for Palin, my God, she has a actual record of reform that will forever put B0 and all the minions who advanced him to shame.

And for the record, I have not once gone on a republican hate rant on this blog.

For now, I am left without true party representation while I try to figure out how I can fight this fraudulent administration and who will fight beside me.

Comment by I'mFedUp | 2009-04-07 15:26:48

Scout, I didn’t say you went on the rant. It’s just that whenever people question certain things the hard left are doing to turn this country into Cuba the next thing you hear is “well what about Bush?” I just don’t think they are the same thing. Yes, Bush made mistakes, but Obama is a whole other ball game and he’s just plain evil and hates our country. Bush was none of that, sorry, he wasn’t. I don’t believe Bush ever wanted to completely destroy America. That’s ridiculous. But Obama won’t be happy until America loses her sovereignty and the mentally deranged fruitcake really believes he will some day “rule the world.” It’s one of the most terrifying times of my life, and God help the losers who don’t see what’s happening to us already. I will never vote for another Democrat. Never. I happen to love my country, and if there is anything left standing in 2010 the only chance we have is for the GOP to take back Majority in Congress and try to render that really sick piece of crap Pelousy powerless.

Comment by Scout | 2009-04-08 02:34:08

Yes, it is terrifying. I was not happy with much of what happened under Bush, especially the eroding of privacy and the concentration of executive power. I think Obama will be even worse than Bush in both regards. Plus, he’s looting the country as we speak.

And unfortunately, I think you’re right that B0 does, on some level–conscious or unconscious, I have no idea–want to destroy America. My question is how do we stop this big train.

But it’s late now, and I wish you a good rest. I’ve had a long day but I have appreciated the threads of this conversation.

Dear Scout and I’mFedUp, I think we all need to be each other’s allies. Most of us here at NQ think the same way about this disgraceful, fraudulent election and hate what That One is doing to our economy and our country. The fact that there are still so many Bots extolling That One’s praises and singing hymns to him is disgusting. That the MSM continues to ignore this Fraud’s continual faux pas and his barrage of insults to our country is becoming harder to believe for me. I intend to vote against all my Democratic Congress people, just like I did this last election. I will continue to write them and protest and if there is a tea in this area I will attend.
I’mFedUp I really enjoy yours posts and your being here; I just don’t like to be be grouped with the incompetent corrupt and fraudulent a**h**** who carried this jackass, Mr. That One, over the finish line, thumbing their noses at the rest of us and stealing what little money is left in our treasury. We need to stick together and get them out of office!

Comment by I'mFedUp | 2009-04-07 16:49:43

Senneth, I agree! It’s sad that there are people who will take the rap for one arm of the Democratic Party that went off the rails and got out of control. Believe me, my best friend was a Dem and she left when this happened. Now she’s an Indie and we fight the good fight together. And this is a woman who comes from a long, long historical lineage of Mayors, Governors, etc. who were famous Dems. He heart is broken and she literally cries all the time, having lived her whole live with democratic principles and feeling like she’s out at sea without a lifeboat.

When we all discuss this stuff, what we are forgetting is that the party that is calling itself the democratic party isn’t. It’s not the CLINTON democrats anymore, and the small elitist faction of scum like Pelosi destroyed the integrity of the party. So, it’s really dumbass for all us to keep discussing it in terms of party. Like I said, my social values are as liberal as you can get. So I think the lines are starting to blur a little. I would have been ALL FOR HILLARY. But she’s a representative of what the Democratic party SHOULD BE, not what they are now. And it’s all because some really screwy people got into power in the party.

So, let’s all embrace our differences and share one goal. Get those asses out of office in 2010 and 2012.

Comment by Scout | 2009-04-08 02:44:58

Yes, we do need to stick together and figure out what to do. I am furious at the lack of representation we have experienced, the disenfranchisement, the cheating, the corruption, etc, etc, etc. And the media–don’t let me get started. I’ve been a tea drinker for years, and this year I’m mailing tea bags to the White House and the DNC.

Nice write-up which I agree with comletely. The far-right is forever oppressed by ‘them’ (ie – govenment). But this blog isn’t about that. Its about the theft of the presidency by a thug using propoganda techniques enabled by a fawning unquestioning media. As Precious’ wretchedness becomes more apparent the idea of a Biden/Clinton administration will hopefully (there’s that word again!) take strong root.

Comment by Woodhull | 2009-04-07 19:01:44

Umm. Wrong again. This is very clever writing — but not clever in a good way. The problem is you are confusing “liberal” with “all good” and “conservative” with “all bad.” Try reading some U.S. History, starting with people like John Adams, Thomas Paine, Ben Franklin and don’t skip over a deep read of the Civil War before you send clap-trap like this around for amusement. The KKK was started by the “radical” Democrats after the Civil War in order to send a message to newly freed black voters in the south — as just one example of how “facts are stubborn things.”

Obama’s sexual innuendo and disgusting pseudo-rapport with the poor female Indian journalist will go down to history as one of the most disgustingly irrelevant, SEXIST banter implicating the Female journalist with HAVING SOMETHING TO DO WITH MAKING THE INDIAN P.M. ‘MR. WONDERFUL’

And what the hell is he referring to Carbon footprints of America when the jounraliswt asked him about Terrorist threats facing her country?

And why call a “Foreign journalist”….

Obama = Bush

The Third Term of Bush is here! What a joke…the cruelest joke of htem all…

And Barry is STONED throoughout….

I was watching Obama on the Tv today and the same impression about this smile of his came across my mind. I thought I was just being critical so am amazed to see someone else saying the same thing that his smile at times seems unnatural.

Its like a light switch he flips it on when in front of people or the cameras, if anyone thinks its not so take a look at any of his clips that smile is very unreal.

Comment by indiedogg | 2009-04-07 03:07:11

Could we perhaps reduce HIS carbon footprint? To Zero?

Send him on the Mars mission, perhaps, out into the universe which might, perhaps, be large enough to accommodate his ego? Perhaps a joint space mission with the North Koreans? On a North Korean rocket?

Oh, BTW, I meant to ask our Australian friend, how do the Kangaroo’s deal with the snow in winter?

Comment by Elizabeth | 2009-04-07 03:31:43

Obama’s babbling non answer and less than courteous probing of her motives is absolutely indefensible.

As a reporter sent to represent the Times of India, however, Simrat Ghumat, could likewise have been more professional. “Thank you, I agree…” was a bit effusive, apparently inticing Obama into the mood for banter, as was her gushiness afterwords at still “walking on air” for being called on.

They both should have been more in control of the situation.

Comment by pm317 | 2009-04-07 08:31:57

Yeah, blame a lowly third world reporter for your leader’s lack of judgment/class. Go after her,.. chase her into ridicule.

Comment by Elizabeth | 2009-04-07 09:20:49

Certainly Obama was wrong for taking advantage of the situation, that’s for sure. But her demenour should also have projected a greater no-nonsense air of decisiveness or seasoned confidence and the exchange wouldn’t have gone down.

Of course taking questions from a tabloid like the Times has become doesn’t help anyone’s reputation…

Comment by pm317 | 2009-04-07 09:27:33

Yep, sure you’re on the right track — hold her to a higher standards than you would your idiot of a president, the leader of the free world.

I like Mr. Berlusconi. He is a VERY intelligent man. So, please, don’t call him an idiot. That ‘title’ belongs to BHO. Don’t forget that. Why make a melodramma every time Berlusconi says or do something funny? It is better than pretending to be talking as a serious and capable President and sounding like a jerk, like we know who. Mr. Berlusconi has a way with words. To judge him, you should learn Italian first.

Comment by Track-A-'Crat | 2009-04-07 09:48:19

Jeez, what a tool. He utters nothing but platitudes and conventional wisdom. Say something substantive for a change!

Comment by NYC | 2009-04-07 09:57:48

What happened to my post about not calling Mr. Berlusconi an idiot or loser? Am I not allowed to express my opinion anymore? Mr. Berlusconi doesn’t deserve to be trashed here or anywhere else in the USA for that matter. The ones that make so much noise about his colorful comments are the com’s, and as far as I know, we are not that here, no? or, si?

Comment by Stuart Resnick | 2009-04-07 10:10:12

MAYBE in years past, it was important for an intelligent person to hold lots of facts in his head. These days, where access to data is always so easily available, such memorization loses importance.

If a situation happens to arise where it’s important to know the official language of Austria, it takes 2 seconds to Google it. It’s a strange thing to focus on.

Comment by pm317 | 2009-04-07 10:20:26

So you are happy with the potential of the president googling to find out the official language of Austria IF he is curious. Strange! (that you don’t get what the problem with this is or the larger focus of this post is).

Comment by churl | 2009-04-07 10:42:28

I hear the same argument from students about calculators and spell checkers– why should I learn to add when I will always have a calculator? If you want to have sloppy, unfocused thinking, continue to believe that “The Google” solves everything.

Comment by Elizabeth | 2009-04-07 10:53:10

I wouldn’t consider it a fact as much as reasonably common knowledge. And definitely not a piece of minutia the highest elected official of the land should need a briefing to be familiar with.

Comment by Buzz Latte | 2009-04-07 12:25:51

Who made you Head of the Department of What Obama Needs to Know?

Whether Obama and his bots like it or not, the president needs to at least appear smart and interested in others. That would include just happening to know that Austria speaks German.

When Obama doesn’t know these simple things he looks S.T.U.P.I.D. and his little lap dogs look like they are either trying to undermine him or that they are slackers to the nth degree. Either way it reads out to the world as LAZY!

Comment by Scout | 2009-04-07 12:01:13

We’re focusing on it because it reveals how truly unprepared this man is to work in the worldwide arena.

Knowing that German is spoken in Austria isn’t just some arcane fact. It’s general knowledge for any person with any interest in world affairs. Really, it’s so basic that his lack of awareness is stunning. He’s not just a tourist, for God’s sake, he’s the president. And his standard, therefore, should be heads above anyone else.

Having access to google is no excuse for political illiteracy. So stop making excuses for him.

Comment by Senneth | 2009-04-07 16:52:53

Oh look, it’s another bot. They’re sure out in force trying to cover That One’s lapses and mistakes and plain stupid behavior. Get your pom poms out Bot and do your rallying cry.

Comment by Elizabeth | 2009-04-07 10:19:55

Maybe Obama meant to say “in Austria,”….who knows ?

We can only hope moderates and conservatives in Congress come together and fast to contain his fiscal policies…It’s damage control now. I’ve given up trying to understand the mind.

Comment by I'mFedUp | 2009-04-07 12:04:39

Oh, please, Obot. Come ON. The so called “President” creates a language that doesn’t EXIST? ROFLMAO. What’s the matter with you people? He’s a joke. Period.

Comment by The Real HC | 2009-04-07 11:28:43

Something is wrong with this man.

The answer to the lady reporter from India is stunningly bad (what was that about gender bias??). He mumbles and rambles and seems to forget there was a question at all. And he gets a pass for it, because he slams the USA and mentions global warming… its a winning ticket for him over and over.

Can you imagine the backlash had someone like Sarah Palin given such an answer on camera?

Comment by Elizabeth | 2009-04-07 12:48:40

The president no doubt expected everyone would be so bowled over at the image of him as foreign language student (Oh, what WAS that phrase again ???!), the fakeness of it would never come through. If he gotten it correct as “Don’t know how to say it in German,” it would be even more odd. WTH? Who expects you to, anyway ? And you’re frittering away your precious concentration power on THAT ???

Read an unedited text of one of Obama’s speeches is like wandering through the field of verbal babble of a mental patient.

His verbal sentences are disjointed, disconnected from one another, and often there is no attempt to answer the question. Verbal salad, folks.

It’s painfully apparent why he needs a teleprompter to function.

Or, rather is it an intentional skill? Google “neuro-linguistic programming” sometime if you haven’t heard of it. It is interesting to consider that he may have no significant knowledge at all save for the art of “deceptive speak”.
