Jonathan Turley Amps Up the Attack On Obama
By SusanUnPC on April 8, 2009 at 8:43 PM in Bill of Rights, Current Affairs, National Security, U.S. Constitution
You’ve read Philip Giraldi’s and my piece, “Goodbye, Bill of Rights,” with a very unhappy Keith Olbermann interviewing a shocked Howard Fineman. Now, constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley puts it even more bluntly:
Honestly, I’m getting tired of saying, “We told you so.” There are people who can be so easily deluded by a speech, which is an entirely different thing than ACTIONS and DEEDS. Do only grown-ups get that “talk is cheap”? And where are those grown-ups?
The grown-ups never drank the Kool-Aid. They saw that a pretty speech did not a president make.
(Thanks to LDP for the video link!)

YES! I saw this interview last night. Only the beginning I pray.
Jonathan Turley is spot on in this interview. He is calm, cool, collected and lays out very reasonably how bad this evisceration of our right to privacy is. and that President Obama should not be allowed to get away with this. He nails it when he says Obama’s “Cult of Personality” popularity makes him think he can get away with anything.
While I abhor Keith Olbermann and will not forgive his horrid behavior during 2008’s election coverage, I am pleasantly surprised that he would even have Turley on and allow him to lay this case out clearly.
I’m sure this also came as some surprise to Obama’s more fervent supporters.
i say old chap, though I 100% agree, your word choice reminds me how much I hate netspeak .
unless your’e a 1920s Brit back from the dead, saying “spot on ” is simply ludicrous.
dont you think its constant online overuse has “jumped the shark”?
I dont know about you, but every time i read such patter, it causes me to ” throw up a little in my mouth”…
In for a penny, in for a pound.
Oh well.
Where is the passionate outrage and withering scorn that KO likes to shown on so many occasions? Isn’t our civil rights worth it?
You mean, some of that “WHERE IS YOUR DECENCY, MAN” or “TREASON!” or “THIS IS FASCISM!” …?
How about a “Worst person of the world” award to President Photo Op Oblunder aka POO (yes, just ignore the first P since it doesn’t count anyway-he’s not my President).
WOW! This is really good news. Less than three months in the White House and Olbermann is allowing someone critical of Obama to appear on his show. Johnathan Turley has my thanks and respect. Olbermann on the other hand, may be trying to seduce more viewers to his audience, but I for one will never watch his show again.
Agreed. He could grovel on the ground before Hillary offering a thousand apologies and I would still never listen to anything that dishonest cretin has to say.
woohoo, well said Susan!
…far more reaching than Bush!…..TAKE THAT OBOTS!
Please tell me…
What do people see in Obama?
I just can’t figure it out….
sadly,, and don’t yell, because I surely don’t agree even with this, but it seemed a sexual attraction. (yuk, I know)
Yep. I agree. Among the obots I have spoken with, both men and women, it is sexual. They don’t admit if at first, but after pressing them for the last few months, the truth finally comes out.
Blech. Blech. Blech.
Where is the barf icon when you need it?
LOL Thank you, yes.
Each one of them, “oh, it’s something about his smile” (what, feminine?). “Oh, did you see him in his bathing suit” (YUK, YES-PLEASE NO MORE), “we just have to tell you, we think you’re sexy (while unable to stop touching)” (AGAIN, YUK, WHO)… and you know he believed that, which is why he was selling kisses. (AGAIN, YUK, YUK, YUK)
…didn’t this take the baby kissing to a whole new level?
OK, if it is a sexual attraction we now know that obots are really pod people incapable of reasonable thought.
There’s something so ewww about this.
roflmao
YES, I just wanted to say EWWWWW so bad. Thank you.
Well, they’re getting their fantasy. We’re all getting f*** by Obama.
Oh please, I haven’t had breakfast yet…
Of course, there is another group obots who may not have felt anything sexual, but they were following the lead of their teenage children — remember McCaskill, Caroline K, Maria Shriver et al?
Oh, god the visual!!! It burns!!! It burns!!!!
I close my eyes and it’s still there!!! YEARGH!!!
Will somebody pick me up off the floor!! I did not see this coming - that KO would be speaking “against” anything the one, HIS one, said.
Does anyone have the link to Howard Fineman and KO’s conversation about this subject? THAT is the one I want to see.
I’m with you S.Moss - I simply do not get it! I don’t even like his speeches - he looks like a robot to me until he would win in the primaries and then he tried to imitate MLK. I got news for 0 - “Buddy, you’re no MLK”.
I do have to grudgingly admit that his 2004 Nat’l Convention speech was excellent. But so did all the other salivating democrats think so who subsequently decided to make him president based on THAT speech, inspite of his lack of experience, and member of the Chicago political mob. In that speech, if he wasn’t smiling, he looked happy, positive and energetic. In his speeches since then, he looks glum, depressed, and down while giving that teleprompter a workout.
People saw a chance for there to be real change in US politics. They saw someone who was different, and after 20 years of a Clinton or a Bush in the White House, they wanted something different. They saw someone who seemed more in touch with their lives then McCain. They saw someone who spoke well, especially compared with W. They saw someone who wouldn’t rush into a war, and who wanted to move the country forward.
I’m sure there were other things people saw, and I’m not saying they were right, I just think these were some of the reasons a large portion of the populace voted for him.
Yeah, well I want a million bucks but I’m still gonna be asking questions as to where it came from when it magically appears.
All the obot daydreams have added up to one dangerous un-American in the WH. And nobody, especially the MSM, was asking any questions. How to spell stupid in the 21st century:
O.B.O.T.
Globalist fascist Moslem dictatorship in the making…surpasses Bush’s Spy contols…What say ye flamin’ liberals?
HE IS NOT A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN…he maintains Brit. citizenship from birth.
SM…They don’t know the truth about Frankenbama. They know what they are fed…Ohhhhhh…Look at MeChelle’s gorgeous clothes (ugh). Ohhhhhhhh look at the Iraqi soldiers fawn over him (even though they asked ahead of time who voted for him and put the Obama voters ahead of the line and in the camera shot). Ohhhhhh what a success that trip to Europe was (they have no idea the moron basically gave the Saudi King a hummer and copped to being a Muslim in Turkey. Never mind calling America arrogant scum). Ohhhhhh…Obama is such a great speaker (meet TOTUS). It’s just smoke and mirrors and a bunch of lazy asses who don’t look for the truth. I’m shocked that Olberscum had this guy on telling the truth. But even Olberscum can’t bring himself to actually criticize the Fraud. I wonder what people think now that they know (I am stealing someone’s NQ username) Obama Dubya II Electric Boogaloo. HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAH.
where did you get the info on the obama supporters put in the front, tho I am sure. do you have a link
Yes I have a link somewhere. Gotta dig through the 200 emails about the Fraud I get a day lol. There was also something in there about the people all having the same CAMERAS - as in where did they get those (free) cameras? It’s all so creepy.
Don’t worry about it Fed up, they ALWAYS make sure his most ardent supporters are front and center - the campaign rally mode continues.
The Bagdad photo op was very misleading tho. The military was almost evenly split between 0 and McCain which was odd. The military almost always goes heavily for the republican. I read somewhere the support broke along racial lines with some youthful exceptions. You can see it, they look like they are going to jump out of their skin they are so excited to see him. How odd to have military soldiers jumping up and down for a war protester.
Having his supporters in front gives the false impression that everyone feels this same enthusiasm.
Olbermann actually did criticize POTUS and his doublecross. Here is the link to a comment by Glenn Greenwald in which the video of KO is seen:
http://www.commondreams.org/view/2009/04/08-14
If I had only read the post below, I’d have linked to it instead.(http://www.noquarterusa.net/blog/2009/04/08/goodbye-bill-of-rights/)
I have difficulty calling everyone who voted for Obama “morons”. My son and his wife - both intelligent, compassionate, young people who were drawn to this election because they were so angry about the Bush years, and because they were manipulated by professionals. See this excellent critique of a Time Magazine piece about the master manipulators in advisory capacity for the obama campaign.

Leslie, I had/have the same situation. Both my feminist from birth, Hillary-supporting daughters went for 0 after the primaries. It devastated me in light of what I knew about how he had gotten there.
Like your children they were deeply angry about the Bush presidency. They didn’t want to hear what I knew. We finally had to agree to disagree. I wonder how they are going to take finally understanding how they were duped with 0. Life lesson: everything that glitters is not gold.
I wish I could be as gracious as both of you. I’m too mad. No one in my family…well, I take that back…out of my 150 cousins, out of those who are of voting age, only ONE voted for Zero. The rest of my entire family, aunts, uncles, cousins, mother, etc. hate Zero. I was surprised. When I went home to Missouri at Christmas and started talking about Zero, I was in shock about how many of my family members knew a lot of what we knew when they voted. I was pretty proud of that. So, I don’t have any arguments in my direct family.
That said, I can’t get past the anger at the people who wouldn’t listen to us. It’s simply not good enough to just push a button for a party, because you hate Bush, when that party is fraudulent and hell bent on our destruction. I just can’t get past the lack of awareness or consideration of America’s future. Glad you guys can. I never will.
Turley was my Tort professor at law school. He is very good.
To be fair to Turley, he came out early on questioning some of Obama’s policies, so this is not a new thing for him. Although a frequent guest on Olbermann, he offered intelligent and insightful perspectives. I love the guy.
Last August when I began asking questions about BHO’s dual citizenship, on my blog, I specifically asked for Constitutional lawyers to comment on the topic, hoping Turley might have something to say. At the time the “natural born citizenship” issues had not exploded on the Internet and the Donofrio lawsuit was a few weeks away.
I don’t remember the exact timing, but shorty thereafter, I went directly to Turley’s blog because he had written a post on McCain’s eligibility problems, but there was no mention of BHO’s bigger problems. How could that be? Didn’t make any sense. Hmmm!
Silly girl that I am, I assumed that the Professor Turley would have the courtesy to respond to a respectful and well thought out question about BHO and the natural born citizenship/Constitutional issues. Twice I left a comment and twice the comment was deleted. Nope never made it.
Apparently he was either drinking too much Kool-Aid at the time or he didn’t have the intellectual honesty to tackle the questions. Too bad, because I, like you, held him in high regard. NOW, not so much! But hey, he made into my last two posts on Hillary and Me.
You know, I keep thinking, if only he’d had the courage to answer/address Obama’s eligibility issues that just maybe . . . just maybe the ‘08 election would have turned out differently.
There is a difference between knowing how to use technology and being educated. The obots used technology and stole/won the primaries and election.
Their lack of education and judgement has brought us to a point that “that one” will equal or exceed Bush in destroying our government.
0bots should be drafted to Afghanistan. That’s how they can best “pledge” support for their president.
They could smoke the hashish!
TREASON
A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the galleys, heard in the very hall of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor—he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and wears their face and their garment, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation—he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city—he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist.
A murderer is less to be feared…….
Cicero,

Wow, that’s heavy stuff, and every word applies to Obama. Great quote.
A new crack in the shell the surrounds BO, and this one made by in the tank Olbermann. There will be another, then another, then another…until finally the greek columns come crashing down, and BO is totally exposed for the fraud he is.
if the MSM had been doing their job, they would have vetted 0bama the moment he threw his hat in the ring and not waited until he was able to have all his records sealed. i will NEVER trust this fake until he releases his real BC and school records.
Right now all I can say is this: I am sure all those family members, friends, and associates who thought me mad because I couldn’t stand O and who also thought KO is/was the coolest of all talking heads are still watching KO and wondering what I will say to them the next time I see them. They know it’s coming, the big I TOLD YOU SO, but I’m holding back. I’m waiting for more ammunition. I’ll keep a list; when it’s long enough,I will humiliate them with it.
I know–it’s not nice. But it was not nice the way they laughed at me either.
Amen, Diana!
Amen is right. I was on the receiving end of lots of odd looks and reactions too — to say the least. Bush3 is exactly the right characterization of him.
Mirror images of the other. Look at your left and right hands… complete opposites… yet functional equals. Bush and Obama.
Shock! This is my first time to watch O again.
Mine, too. He wasn’t even foaming at the mouth this time! Oh-oh! The lovebama affair must be over!
We told THEM so, over and over and over. All one needed was to have the eyes wide open. Instead they chose to have their eyes and their minds tightly shut.
Why? because they needed an idol… What a bunch pubescent morons…
PBO is officially making the United States of America a police state. It is one of the worst possible nightmares imaginable…. This is the first step in totalitarianism.
and a quick slippery slope from here on.
SCOTUS needs to stop this and everyone should scream loud, clear and relentlessly: NO, NO, NO.
While I do not trust Olberman he at least appears to value what Turley has to say about the Constitution. Maybe the thought of losing Constitutional rights has the big blowhard thinking about a few things.
Perhaps a few closet light bulbs are going on among the bots. But, I’ll never ever forgive Olberman for his treatment of Hillary and Palin. He’s the reason we don’t watch MSNBC.
Jonathan Turley is spot on in this interview. He nails it when he says Obama’s “Cult of Personality” popularity makes him think he can get away with anything.

Turley is a joke. Am I supposed to take him seriously when in part of the interview he claims that Obama is doing bad things. Then he claims that he has a lot of respect for President Obama. How do you reconcile those two thoughts?
Turley’s probably afraid of being assassinated. Either by the MSM or a pod of Obots.
You know things are getting bad when MSNBC and Olbermann himself leads a interview on Obama favoring “programs over principle.” In other words, ideology over everything else.
Where have I heard that before???
Maybe this is the “first” crack in the Obama ceiling. We can hope.
Olbermann must be worried about his freedoms or he is truely concerned about this matter.
Olbermann praised Obama for voting for the FISA “compromise” and his Obot followers told us it was because he had to win the election. If Obama voted no, he would appear weak. That is a typical political calculation. That is what most politicians do.
That is all that Obama is.
I am so damn glad that some people are beginning to stand up and take notice of what Obama is attempting to do.
He would seek to destroy our Constitution, tear apart our rights as citizens of this great country and totally ruin America and Americans.
Obama is a scourge on our country, a parasite that we cant get rid of because it has mutated into some kind of super virus.
I can’t wait until Obama’s time is up, hopefully he will not have destroyed our country entirely. Impeachment would be great but as we saw with Bush, there is no one to stand up for the American people. I only hope we don’t have to endure four years of this fraud. If there is any justice, Obama will have to prove to the American people that he is eligible to be president, and he will not be able to do that.
Oh Susan, I’ll never get tired of saying I TOLD YOU SO!
Here’s another example…
Analysis: Hillary warned there’d be days like this
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20090408/D97EJ4S81.html
Btw, I still think she’ll run in 2016 barring any serious health issues.
She can run, but sadly for her there won’t be a Demoncrap anywhere near the White House or Congress after the Fraud has burned America to the ground. In fact, since we’ll all be under Islamic Law, WTF party is THAT?
COUNTDOWN!!! To how long it will be before Olbermann is calling Obama WORST PERSON IN THE WORRRRLD!!! KO was almost pouting like a spoiled little boy because he’s beginning to suspest that his hero has made a fool of him. I expected a plaintive “But I believed in you with all my heart, and you lied to me.” outburst at any moment while I was watching it.
You know i’m not freaking out about this, because what ever happens, it’s their own damn fault. These same people practically pushed obama into office. Knowing nothing about him and REFUSED to find out anything about him, and anyone who did was racist.
Screw them. Picking at Bristol Palin was more important that making sure Obama was corrupt.
that should be wasn’t
Can now all please read “liberal Fascism” by Jonah Goldberg…Please READ IT. It is LIFE ALTERING and well documented.

For all of you how thought Bush was a fascist…you you are about to discover what that word really means in your day-to-day lives and its consequences on all aspect of your lives…just like I’ve been saying for over a year now. But most of you thought I was an idiot.
People who lived under such nastiness can smell it coming a thousand miles away. I’m not alone. I’ve spoken to dozens of previously exiled or escaped former citizens of all types of totalitarian regimes…they all are shitting themselves in fear.

notme: Nothing, absolutely nothing, can change the FACT that George W. Bush ( and George Poppy Bush and Ronald Reagan) are FACISTS. That some other people might be facist, doesn not change the facts. Why can’t Republicans see that? Faulty logic, I guess, or maybe it’s a game: choose your favorite facist.
I’m stunned. Cannot believe MSGNY had such a critical (read: truthful) piece about barky! This is great! Thanks Susan, for posting this!
What at turd, Jonathan Turley. Supposed to be so outraged with the Supremes putting Bush in office, then he comes out swinging for Obama, another total plant. I don’t care what these people have to say about anything anymore. they just follow the money.
Uh oh, their blinders are slipping.
Is it too early to say we told you so?
MORE CROCK-O-DILE TEARS:
“They come to us, expecting us to give them free publicity, and we do, but it’s not a two way street,” Jane Hamsher, the founder of FiredogLake, said in an interview. “They won’t do anything in return. They’re not advertising with us. They’re not offering fellowships. They’re not doing anything to help financially, and people are growing increasingly resentful.” (snip)
“Most want the easy way — having a big blogger promote their agenda,” adds Markos Moulitsas, the founder of DailyKos. “Then they turn around and spend $50K for a one-page ad in the New York Times or whatever.” Moulitsas adds that officials at such groups often do nothing to engage the sites’s audiences by, say, writing posts, instead wanting the bloggers to do everything for them. (snip)
“We don’t invest in the future, and Republicans do,” says John Aravosis, the founder of AMERICAblog. “The party committees really get that we can be effective as their partners and that we’re happy to help, and they take advantage of that. But even so, very little ad money comes from them. It’s more than just wanting to share in the spoils. We are small business-people who are fighting to survive economically in a really bad year.”
