What intrigues me is what SusanUnPC would have The Lightbringer do about those situations in North Korea and Iran? She’s admitted we don’t have the troops for Afghanistan, so what should we do about the other? Cut off trade? What trade? Blockade their ports, in the case of NK to what effect their ports are only used for humanitarian aid. Iran uses their ports to ship us the oil for our SUVs.

So, what should Teh One do?

I’m really afraid for my country and I have been for over a year now, knowing how the media won’t report much of what they should so we can all have hopey-changey thoughts. Kumbayah!

So sorry, this is off topic, but I saw this video at Fox, and it made me so angry. Marcus Luttrell, the lone survivor from a Navy Seal team recently had his therapy dog shot dead by 4 men who apparently like to take joy rides at night to shoot dogs.

Pakistan could collapse within six months: US expert

NEW YORK: Pakistan could collapse within six months in the face of the snowballing insurgency, a top expert on guerrilla warfare has said.

The dire prediction was made by David Kilcullen, a former adviser to top US military commander General David Petraeus.

David Kilcullen is the best known practitioner of counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations and had advised Gen Petraeus on the counter-insurgency programme in Iraq. Few experts understand the nature of the insurgency in Af-Pak as well and he is now advising Petraeus in Afghanistan.

Petraeus also echoed the same thought when he told a Congressional testimony last week that the insurgency could “take down” Pakistan, which is home to nuclear weapons and al-Qaida.

Kilcullen’s comments come as Pakistan witnesses an unprecedented upswing in terror strikes and now some analysts in Pakistan and Washington are putting forward apocalyptic timetables for the country.

“We are running out of time to help Pakistan change its present course toward increasing economic and political instability, and even ultimate failure,” said a recent report by a task force of the Atlantic Council that was led by former senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska and senator John Kerry of Massachusetts.

The report, released in February, gave the Pakistani government 6 to 12 months before things went from bad to dangerous.

I think one of the items above, from the WSJ, is a planted story from the WH. Obama wants total control of the internet and, since the introduction of his new cybersecurity bill many technology publications have been critical of the idea that:

A new cybersecurity bill being proposed would give the President emergency authority to halt web traffic and access private data, effectively declaring martial law on the web.

The Cybersecurity Act of 2009, which was introduced by Sens. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.), would empower the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to establish “measurable and auditable” security standards for all networks and systems run by federal agencies, government contractors and businesses that support critical infrastructure services. Under this act the president would … have the authority to declare a “cybersecurity emergency.”

Policing private networks
It’s unclear how industry will respond to the bill, though, since it effectively allows the federal government to shut down private computer networks.

“The cybersecurity threat is real, but such a drastic federal intervention in private communications technology and networks could harm both security and privacy,” said Leslie Harris, CEO of the Center for Democracy and Technology, an industry group.
Industry groups say the bill doesn’t provide enough detail on what is considered “critical infrastructure.”

Critics also say imposing uniform standards on computer networks could be counterproductive: Hackers who find a way around the government’s defenses would have unfettered access to critical networks.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology. NIST would be in charge of setting standards for the government and the private sector. But many experts have been critical of the agency, saying its current cybersecurity guidance isn’t based on data about actual attacks.

“NIST doesn’t have current attack and threat knowledge,” Alan Paller, director of the SANS Institute, a Maryland-based computer security research firm said. “If you allow them to do the threat standards, you’re going to be defending against the wrong thing.”

I wonder if releasing all this threat news is just to use fear to get us to go along with more freedoms cut from us and pasted to DC.

Well maybe if we just extend the new recognised Taliban friendly zone to the whole country everything will be just peachy. Wasn’t that the purpose to appease the fundamentalists?

I hate to think what would happen if Obama gets control over the internet.
But its already way too scary out there….Obama has control of auto companies, banks and seems to putting down America to the world every chance he gets. What is most frightening is Obama’s new found friendship with the antagonistic Muslim nations.
America needs to wake up before the liberties and freedoms America was founded on are destoyed.

Borger and Blitzer are s-o-o-o on their knees to Obama - just like Keitho - they are disgusting.
They’re interviews are a waste of time - all they ask is softball questions. And they are getting away with it.

A lot of little things seem to go unnoticed. On March 14, for example, Obama placed a total ban on the processing of “downer” cows in US meat packing plants. It’s no longer possible that the next hamburger you buy will have come from a cow that was too sick to stand up. Obama stated the obvious: that our national food inspection system has become “a hazard to public health”. He set up a Food Safety Working Group to study and coordinate food safety laws and advise him on necessary changes.

Personally I don’t consider this a little thing at all. I’ve been wondering just when a mass-casualty terrorist attack focus on our highly vulnerable national food production and distribution systems. Presently such a thing would be far too easy.

Regarding North Korea, I think the bigger problem is that there doesn’t appear to be anyone in charge in the North. The potential for civil war in the north is very real. If anyone’s interested, there are a number of scenarios that were run regarding conflict in Korea. Basically, South Korea can probably handle the North Koreans, as long as China stays out, and the NK’s don’t lob a nuke or chemical warhead into Seoul.

Pakistan imploding would be a disaster. Since the USAF was strectched thin to move Obama and his entourage to Europe for his vacation (and with his missteps, he’s reminding me of Clark Griswold), and fly Pelosi all over the place, maybe they’d be willing to relinquish their flight perks and give the planes/capacity back to the air force?

Rome was destroyed by it’s external enemies only after it had been gutted from within, by weak and corrupt political leaders. Once being bribed was valued more than doing what was right by those you governed, the political structure crumbled and with that the empire’s military security. Barney Frank and Chris Dodd with their taking money and favors would have fit right in at the end of the Roman empire. The biggest danger to the US is not it’s external enemies, but it’s corrupt politicians.

Boy, Joe Biden is just daring someone to prove him wrong by carrying out some sort of man caused disaster. And when this man caused disaster occurs, then maybe America can bring back some of those specialized people from the overseas contingency operation to investigate and catch those who caused the man man diaster. And when we catch them, then we can take those people suspected of causing the man made disaster and bring them to an American prison for debriefing. And then we can ask them nicely to give us information about their fellow man caused disaster believers and about any future man caused disaster acts that might be in the works. Then these persons who used to be called suspected man caused diaster carry outers, become peoples who the president has the ability to detain. And these peoples who the President has the ability to detain are cared for with American taxpayer money, and given the same rights as American citizens, until such time they are convicted or released because there’s not enough evidence to prove they caused a man man disaster. And because their country of orgin no longer wants them or their safety might be at risk if they were to go back home or no third country wants to accept them, America then has to relocated them somewhere in America. American can’t leave them destitute so has to give them more taxpayer money so they have a good start. Then they are no longer called suspected man made disaster causers nor persons the President has the ability to detain but are now called welfare receipients. Oh but welfare receipients will probably be changed to “fairness receivers” since that’s a much nicer term and doesn’t have such a negative association.

Oh, I feel so much better now about what Joe said.

Now we know why the “terrorists”, “terrorism” and “enemy combantant” terms were used. It takes too long to use Obama speak.
