Hey I remember my first time voting almost 40 years ago…I so very proud to be a Democrat.
Now, I dont think I can stick my head underground to show how ashamed I am of the Democratic party…
However I will admit that the Republican has not been doing much either to earn any gold stars

Greed for the North was what I meant. Yes, the plantation owners had grand homes… I would imaging the folks who run maquiladoras in Mexico also live well compared to their peers… but not nearly as well as the CEO’s who outsource labor. That is what I meant by greed. The whole righteous indignation from people up North about plantations is no better than our current indignation that third world children make cents per hour making designer name products pimped by celebrities in this country. Until we quit buying into the marketing of these companies and quit idolizing the celebrities that hawk their wares… we are no better than they are. Believe me, we are better… we just don’t get it yet. But we will.

It may have been greed for the North, but my family was fighting for their homes. Tennessee had more battles than just about anyother state. My great-great grandfather was a lieutenant in the Confederate cavalry. Because he was an officer, he was disenfranchised and they lost their farm. From a beautiful home to a log cabin in Texas in one generation.
And now BO is causing some of the same states to make rumbling noises about secession again. Well, he does want to be another Lincoln, doesn’t he?

I don’t know what you mean. Of course his speech is scripted, but he seemed to do a good job to me. And nothing in that video seemed fake to me.

I’m not a fan, but he sure seemed to do well and delivered exactly what the folks wanted. imo

Shhhh be quiet botchild. How quickly the liberals forget back in 2004 after Bush was re-elected a there was ongoing chatter about the Blue states seceding from the Union.

There were tons of websites devoted to how the split should occur, how the Red states would fall apart without money from the Blue, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

BTW, there’s far more precedent for Texas to secede than what the Blue states wanted to do back in 2004. This is about an out of control government not simply because Bush was re-elected President.

It probably wouldn’t be Texas alone by the way. Someone said Mississipi and others would go too. Obama doesn’t have any idea how stupid he is to think that people are going to take his crap. He really underestimated America and Americans. Final tally on the Tea Party attendance was close to 1 Million pissed off patriots. Just think of how many people had to work, since it was a week day, and couldn’t go. And the next time it will be bigger. And if the Fraud keeps screwing America it will get to people leaving the union. He can go all over the world and apologize for America, piss on us, sell us out to our enemies, but since he has no idea what being a real American is, he will get a big surprise when it backfires on his criminal ass.

You are dead on right about that. Unfortunately, that is the very reason the North could not allow Texas to leave without a fight. Tanks would roll on Texas. It happened in Waco to a bunch of religious kooks and it would happen to Texas. It brings to mind for me the civil war itself. In the South, it was all about states rights. It was about the North taking resources from the South, i.e. cotton… making goods in the North from them and selling those goods to the South at outrageous profits. The North can act righteous about Southern plantations all it wants in retrospect… but at the time having all that cheap cotton sure was nice for the North. Sounds like modern day “globalization” when you think of it that way. It has always been about greed. Nothing has changed… yet.

So what does Texas have to do to survive as a Republic?

1. NASA is just south of Houston, Texas. (We will control the space industry.)

2. We refine over 85% of the gasoline in the United States.

3. Defense Industry.. We have over 65% of it. The term, “Don’t mess with Texas,” will take on a whole new meaning.

4. Oil – we can supply all the oil that the Republic of Texas will need for the next 300 years. Yankee states? Sorry about that.

5. Natural Gas – Again we have all we need and it’s too bad about those northern states. Al Gore will figure a way to keep them warm.

6. Computer Industry – we currently lead the nation in producing computer chips and communications. Small places like Texas Instruments, Dell Computer, EDS, Raytheon, National Semiconductor, Motorola, Intel, AMD,
Atmel, Applied Materials, Ball Semiconductor, Dallas Semiconductor, Delphi, Nortel, Alcatel, etc., etc. The list goes on and on.

7. Health Centers – We have the largest research centers for Cancer research, the best burn centers and the top trauma units in the world and
other large health planning centers.

8. We have enough colleges to keep us going: UT Texas, A&M, Texas Tech, Rice, SMU, University of Houston, Baylor, Texas Women’s University. Ivy
grows better in the South anyway.

9. We have a ready supply of workers. (Just open the border when we need some.)

10. We have control of the paper industry, plastics, insurance, etc.

11. In case of a foreign invasion, we have the Texas National Guard and the Texas Air National Guard. We don’t have an army but since everybody down here has at least six rifles and a pile of ammo, we can raise an army in 24
hours if we need it. If the situation really gets bad, we can always call Department of Public Safety and ask them to send over a couple of Texas Rangers.

12. We are totally self sufficient in beef, poultry, hogs and several types of grain, fruit and vegetables; and let’s not forget seafood from the Gulf.
And everybody down here knows how to cook them so that they taste good. Don’t need any food.
