THANKS to Flineo for the photos!

UPDATE: I am invading Susan’s post to add this video of the protestors taking the CNN reporter to task, for her spin, and attacks. See Concerned Mothers earlier post for more video of the *journalist*. ~saraintaly

Once the segment was over, people let her know how they felt about her *reporting*.

One of my good friends went to the Tea Party in Seattle, and I will post pics once I get them.

How the MSM handles the global crisis.

Comment by candymarl | 2009-04-16 04:01:34

Look over there! It’s the WH dog! Forget the people losing their homes and those living in shelters and getting food from food banks.

Forget the banksters bailout! Forget the executive orders, signed by Obama, expanding the powers Bush granted himself.

It’s a dog!

Comment by cynic | 2009-04-16 12:00:40

No, lets NOT forget the Executive Orders signed by Barack Obama.

Most Americans were completely unaware–and pretty muchremain unaware–of what GWB quietly did by way of Executive Order. Had these been widely read and their implications fully discussed, people might have realized the extent to which principles embodied in the Constitution were being reduced to a set of fine old statements of largely symbolic nature. With the stroke of a pen, a president assumed powers no president was ever intended to have.

Here’s a link to the White House web site page that lists all of Barack Obama’s Executive Orders and Presidential Memorandums, in chronological order from day one. They’re all brief statements. Click on any to examine the full text.

These photos were a welcome sight to see first thing in the morning. I will be scouring the net for more. SC and Atlanta had huge crowds-Atlanta’s was very, very big. Ours isn’t until Saturday. I look forward to hearing everyone’s stories of theirs.

Wow! I thought Flineo had gone to the dark side from over at T.M.’s site when it switched to an all-Obie site.

Susan, Colorado Springs approximately 2,000. It may not be large relative to the others, but for a politically apathetic town like this, it was impressive.

From the Temecula, CA one:

TEMECULA —- Thousands of protesters crowded around Temecula’s Duck Pond on Wednesday —-tax day for U.S. taxpayers —- to show elected officials they are fed up with new taxes, the complicated tax code and tax-related propositions on the state’s May ballot.

Among the hundreds of signs carried by protesters at the anti-tax gathering were these:

– 1 Nation under God not Obama
– Give me liberty not debt.
– Read my lipstick, no new taxes
– Work harder, millions of stimulus moochers depend on you
– I like being kissed before I’m porked
– Learn Chinese
– Let me spread my own wealth
– Limited government
– Don’t tax me bro!
– It’s not stimulus. It’s payback.
– Born Free. Taxed to death.
– Your pork starved my piggy bank.
– How can spending be the problem and the solution?
– Attn. Washington: You have run out of our money.

For the complete story and pictures:

For Video, short but worth watching to see how some people dressed up. PE reported about a 1,000. LA Times reported over 1,000. The one above reported 1,000’s.

They didn’t just protest Democrats they also protested Republicans and the out of control spending and taxation here in CA.

Comment by margaret | 2009-04-16 08:48:08

thanks for this. I LOVE “nation under God not Obama”. perfect. yesterday, for the first time in a long while, I felt proud to be an American.

Comment by Diana | 2009-04-16 15:36:47

This was a great turn out for the middle of the day (11AM)and on a week day. Temecula is not a large city it’s more of a old town setting with about 90,000 residents. The media portraying this as all Republicans was nonsense. They protested against both side of the aisle, not just the Democrats. There were plenty of Democrats and Republicans. I hope the unity displayed at these tea parties never ends, it has the potential to blossom into something extraordinary. It was Americans coming together from both sides in one voice.

Comment by I'mFedUp | 2009-04-16 09:48:37

I’m so proud of my country. What a turnout across America for these Tea Parties. I just saw two more hysterical signs…

A little kid had one that said:

I Can’t Read The Stimulus Bill, What’s YOUR Excuse?

and

There’s A Con In Congress And We’re Paying For It

LMAO

You GO Americans! Reclaim our country!!!!

Comment by Diana | 2009-04-16 15:55:29

Did you notice the one question the CNN reporter never asked?

Are there any Democrats here? She knew better because it wasn’t just Republicans and CNN didn’t want more Democrats coming out of their homes to join in. They were too busy trying to convince everyone it was just extreme Republicans. Only one thing needed to be said to the teens that showed up to counter protest. “We’re doing this for your future. Join in!”

I love those you posted, I’ll have to remember that one for the child for the July 4th Tea Party. My daughter wanted her whole family to wear their PETA T-Shirts with signs that said “Yes, we’re members of PETA, we’re also members of PETH. Protection for the Ethical Treatment of Humans. READ BEFORE YOU SIGN!”

Comment by Diana | 2009-04-16 16:03:48

Oh my am I feeling clever today. I just realized she could have held signs that said, “Yes, I am a member of PETA. I am also a member of the second PETA. Protection for the “Ethical” Treatement of Americans. Read before you sign.” I’ll have to suggest that one to her. ;)

She and CNN let their masks slip badly. It is like “All’s quiet on the western front” - till someone lights up a cigarette. CNN lit up a cigar and really gave their position away.

Did anyone else notice the exchange btw the CNN reporter and the lady taking her to task about the Internet?

What was that about, what does it reflect? What kind of conversations is she having with her colleges and editors that she let that attitude slip? Are they in a panic because they are loosing ratings or is it something larger? Are the puppet masters, who thought they could control us because they bought up the MSM, in a panic because of something they couldn’t predict and can’t control? - for now.

Don’t let them pass:

The Cybersecurity Act of 2009 proposed by Sen. Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia and Olympia Snowe of Maine would allow Barack Obama to “order the limitation or shutdown of Internet traffic” and give government access to information “without regard to any provision of law, regulation, rule, or policy restricting such access” in times of declared emergency.

I think that many people that were standing on the sidelines and not sure about the Tea Parties were probably thinking a bit differenly after that newscaster spoke…. YOu dont bash a guy who is holding a baby….(that made her look even worse).

From what I understand though CNN and a few other very bias Obama news programs are losing in the people watching category. I think that says a lot, especially when you see that Fox seems to be going steadily upward everyday in viewers.
I watch the local news, Fox and Lou Dobbs….
I dont want CBS NBC or any other national news stations anymore…..Like I said above Lou Dobbs is only one I watch on CNN.

In addition to being over-taxed, I am being “fee” to death. I don’t know about other parts of the country, but around here state and local officals are climbing all over each other raising and thinking up new fees to charge. Water, sewer, trash, streetlights, motor vehicle, park-use fees, school bus(!), school sports, parking fees…… I am surprized some idiot hasn’t thought up a fee to use the sidewalks yet.

Comment by foxyladi14 | 2009-04-16 17:12:05

fee is the new word for tax..shhhhhhhh,,

OMG lol that sign…”Read my Teleprompter, no more bailouts” PERFECT.

And….give it a rest Susan…you just lied to that woman….you DID say, “this is anti government, anti CNN, since it’s highly promoted by the right wing Conservative network, Fox”

Really dear, is that what it is. And you sounded like a scorned woman doing all and anything to promote and protect the Administration. Just pitiful that CNN has this type of programming in mind, with someone like her…going to get the news? mmhmmm.

Comment by candymarl | 2009-04-16 09:06:56

LOL.. that fucking reporter from CNN is the most uninformed journalist in the world!! “how did you hear about this (if not from the baaaad conservatives)?” she asks the woman. She asked for it.

Comment by American Girl in Italy | 2009-04-16 11:09:24

she seemed to me to be totally trying to get the people to “slip”, and fess up to being with some group, or say they found out from FOX or something. She was needling. And she failed. She is AWFUL!

Susan,

You know you live in the twilight zone when you shake Tim Eyman’s hand and thank him for all the great work he has done to defend lower taxes.

Comment by andrew191 | 2009-04-16 12:20:44

SM, YOU shook Tim Eyman’s hand??? I guess 0bama truly is a uniter, he’s solidly uniting a broad spectrum opposition.

Your pics are a hoot. I’m still waiting for a prototype RPP (rocket propelled pitchfork).Better get down to R&D and kick some ass.

Sorry I missed the festivities, let’s start planning the next one. Rush just said there were 800 parties nation wide. Napolitano/DHS must be very busy today updating terrorist profiles. That guy holding the baby in Chicago was certainly quite sinister, but not nearly as sinister as the guy holding the pitchfork sign in Seattle! Janet N. sure has her hands full protecting us from those crazies.

Comment by I'mFedUp | 2009-04-16 12:23:20

Seattle Moss’s pics are already up in Post Offices as Public Enemy Number 1. How DARE SM be promoting the sales of pitchforks and torches?

By the way, to all the gals here…isn’t SM handsome LOL?

larry, how about a poll asking who folks would like to see run for president in the 2012 election. someone we all know and trust and who has no affilliation with either party. someone who truly has americas best interest at heart. i no longer trust either party (tho i am a former democrat). if we start this NOW maybe it will become a reality by 2012. any suggestions?

Comment by Cathy in Ks. | 2009-04-16 22:33:16

After reading about the “tea parties” on the net and particularly on your blog, I turned on Fox Cable News and caught a rerun of Glenn Beck at the Alamo tea party. I loved it. It excites me to see so many ordinary American citizens coming together because they are angry and and are becoming politically active. I was impressed with the crowds. These were people like me who had a message to deliver. Hopefully our government representatives will start listening. If they don’t watch out next year!

CNN is going down the “toilet” at an alarming pace. I would be sad if I watched it anymore but for an occasional glimpse of Lou Dobbs’ show, I don’t raise my blood pressure by viewing their stupid, inaccurate, and misleading reporting or commentaries.

If this is true….way to GO lefties…Bush II in the house…woot woot woot!

By Catherine Herridge

President Obama signed three executive orders in January that signaled his intent to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay, fulfilling a campaign promise popular with liberals and central to his electoral victory.

But three months into the detainee review, Obama finds himself the unexpected target of fresh criticism from liberals over his handling of what they consider the new Guantanamo Bay: the military detention facility at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan.

The secretive site is home to 660 detainees, 95 percent of whom were captured on the battlefield in Afghanistan. The rest were mostly captured in North Africa and the Middle East.

In an editorial this week, The New York Times claimed Bagram is “the next Guantanamo” and accused the Obama administration of recycling “extravagant claims of executive power.”

That’s because the Obama White House has sided with the Bush administration in its belief that the Bagram detainees, who are in a war zone, have no right to a court review despite a ruling last year by the Supreme Court granting Guantanamo detainees those rights.

The Justice Department argues that Bagram is different from Guantanamo because it is in an overseas war zone and the prisoners there are being held as part of an ongoing military action. The government argues that releasing enemy combatants into the Afghan war zone, or even diverting U.S. personnel there to consider their legal cases, could threaten security.

But a federal judge rejected that argument earlier this month, ruling that Bagram detainees can challenge their detention. U.S. District Judge John Bates said they should have access to the courts to prevent the United States from being able to “move detainees physically beyond the reach of the Constitution and detain them indefinitely.”

The Justice Department is appealing the ruling and said that an interagency task force is working to finish a report by July that outlines the legal options for handling terror suspects in the future.

Surprisingly, Obama finds himself on the opposite side of liberals in the debate over detainee rights.

“If the U.S. is going to close Guantanamo as President Obama has promised, it would be relatively meaningless if new Guantanamos like Bagram are allowed to continue to operate in the future,” said Jonathan Hafetz, a staff attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union who has represented several detainees. “It’d be like putting a band-aid on a much deeper wound and problem.”

But conservatives believe the war on terror will be reduced to a criminal matter if the ACLU and others get their way.

“What do you do when 500 terrorists who were just shooting at you all of a sudden raise their white flag and say, ‘I surrender, I want my lawyer. I want my three hots (meals) and a cot and I want my green card to America,’” said Charles “Cully” Stimson, a senior legal fellow at the conservative Heritage Foundation.”

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
