On a border between two of the most repressive nations on earth no less. Maybe it's wrong that Laura Ling and Euna Lee are being prosecuted, maybe the North Koreans are as bad as the Iranians, maybe the charges are trumped up and paranoid...but I doubt very much Americans would tolorate North Korean reporters 'sneaking' around our country like dangerous spying operatives playing chicken with our authorities for a journalistic scoop. The appeals would be longer, the conditions of imprisonment more humane and the protections for their civil rights and personal protection greater. Those two reporters knew the consequences, took a terrible chance and lost.
