["All Rise" Update] The White House Finally Reveals Love Affair
By SusanUnPC on May 5, 2009 at 11:00 AM in MSNBC, Media Handling of Story, Obamedia
“All Hail the Chief” UPDATE: Wherein the White House press corps stayed seated when President Bush entered the room, but rose in unison for “The One.” Can’t you feel the love???
Via Memeorandum, and from the Los Angeles Times blog, “Top of the Ticket” — with the writer’s tongue firmly planted in his cheek in his story, “Obama official Kareem Dale confirms White House’s love for MSNBC“:
For some inexplicable reason having to do with who knows what, a widespread impression has grown among many politics fans that MSNBC and its crowd of talkers — including Chris “Thrill Up My Leg” Matthews, Norah “The GOP Is Doomed to Die” O’Donnell and Ed “It’s Time to Grind Them Into the Ground” Schultz — are somewhat in favor of President Obama.
Well, actually in complete love with the Great Change Agent.
Now, thanks to the ubiquitous cameras of C-SPAN, comes official videoed word from Kareem Dale, special assistant to the president for arts and culture and a key White House advisor on disability policy. …
CHECK OUT the 1:51 point of this video, and listen to the praise for MSNBC from Kareem Dale, “special assistant to the president for arts and culture and a key White House advisor on disability policy”:
Ironically, “Morning Joe” is probably the only MSNBC show that takes Obama to task semi-regularly. DCMediaGirl, who knows Joe Scarborough in “real life,” has praised Joe’s truth-telling abilities many times here. And some of the best segments involve Pat Buchanan and Scarborough “goin’ to town” on Obama and his administration.
As you can easily imagine, plenty of bloggers had some, um, comments about this video. One of the best “riffs” comes from Jules Crittenden in “All You Need Is Love”:
Yesterday we saw mapped out the well from which the president of the United States draws his deep thot on foreign policy. An aging fat whiny Brit of weak vertebral constitution with an unhealthy Palin obsession, also known as Andrew Sullivan. We’ve also seen this week the instruments of his wrath: The attack foo-foo dogs of the White House Press Corps. Today, it’s the object of his affection. Make that “Love.” Yeah, that’s a capital L-o-v-e … Looooooove, as a White House flack admits that’s how the Obama admin feels about MSNBC. via LA Times’ Top of the Ticket, which has the vid of Kareem Dale, special assistant to the president for arts and culture, abashedly admitting feelings … nothing more than feelings … feelings of loooooooooove!
Feeelings! Woah-oh-oh feeeeeeeeeelings! Trying to forget these … Sorry, can’t help myself. All you need is love! O, to be so lighthearted and aglow. It just makes me want to break into song! …
Here’s the amusing part: MSNBC’s ratings are dropping like a stone. If you missed it, be sure to check out PatRacimora’s “Tingle Up My Leg Award for Cable News“:
This week Fox again leads by a large margin its competitors. In primetime (8-11 p.m.), Fox News averaged 551,000 viewers in the target 25-54 year-old demographic, with MSNBC finishing a distant second with 271,000, and CNN third with 248,000. If you want to see this weeks cable news ratings, they are all here, but to save you time, Fox is first for every hour of every day. …
Of course, PatRacimora graced the story with one of her memorable cartoons. Check it out.
… and …
… in my upcoming post, more proof (as if you needed it) that the MSM are in Obama’s pocket.

What about the allegation that the TBP threatened an intransigent hedge fund in the Chrysler fiasco with unleashing the WH press core on them, to ruin the funds reputation? Apparently they not only lie at his feet, but will attack on command?
Larry Doyle wrote about this last weekend in “Is Barack Obama Going Tony Soprano?.”
Btw, your comment is off-topic, and should go in an Open Thread.
Off topic? The press as a tool of the Admin is off topic?
Change the title from “The Hound of the Baskerville” to the Hounds of Obamaville and you have on scary novel there. Oh, Mr. Holmes, where are you when we need you!
Safely dead. I almost envy him. Sigh.
Well Susan, it’s springtime, and love is in the air. The little birdies are going twitter-tweet, and the squirrels are bringing each other nuts. If anyone doubts that love is astir, just watch the fawning looks that Joe receives from the blonde lady in the blue gown as he introduces Kareem. And so it is no surprise when Dale finally confesses the administration’s love for MSNBC. I’ve always suspected that they had the hots for each other, and I’m glad it’s all now out in the open. Ahhh, springtime!
hahahahahaha. lol rofl, oowawa. How poetic!!!!!
uh … the blonde lady is his partner on Morning Joe — Mika. You might want to bone up on who’s who in teevee land and know that Joe is married and Mike is too. That kind of BS is what you get when you read the MSM too much.
Since parts of Nevada are the only places I know of where prostitution is legal, is msm breaking the law in all the other states?
Since there are no more journalists only prostitutes taking up time and getting paid for doing so do we really have news and entertainment any more?
WOMEN WITH INTELLIGENCE AND EXPERIENCE,MEN WHO SUPPORT THEM AND COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY ALWAYS
PUMAS,BUBBAS,EQUALISTS AND THOSE PEOPLE RULE
My major impression of the B0 admininistration is one of immaturity and lack of seasoning. To start out your comments like Dale did is frankly unprofessional and poorly thought out.
I ache at the thought that we have to endure this presidency and watch as he brings down the office of POTUS and our country.
Apparently MSNBC hasn’t noticed yet that there is an inverse relationship between their refusal to actually cover news while spawning for Obama and their viewership ratings. They consistently come in last. I think at this point they might even be behind the weather channel or something.
The answer, perhaps, is that Jeffrey Immelt of NBC/GE is waiting for some big bailout (er, contract) from the Obama Administration. That’s why they keep sipping the koolaid on the air. They are absolutely not blind to the fact that is a reason their ratings are tanking. I assure you they know this — but there must be a “bigger picture” for them, somehow.
No one wants to watch bullshit, fixed coverage. MSNBC ratings will decline more if they continue to fawn over Obama.
The DailKooks think there’s a conspiracy afloat to sink MessNBC’s ratings.
LMFAO!
oh, that is just beautiful. their poor kool-aid warped brain cells cannot adapt to reality.
What??? A conspiracy to sink the MSNBC Love Boat?
Who would waste the energy? They’re doing a splendid job on their own.
The blindness never ceases to amaze me.
What? How is that supposed to work exactly?
??????????????????????????????????????????????????
In any kind of a fair world, news would REALLY be balanced. It isn’t. I far prefer NPR over any news source. When they have someone from one side, they have someone from the other side to balance. Having said that, it is abundantly clear that Fox is anything but fair and balanced. They cut clips and present comments so out of context that they imply something directly opposite. So, I’ll take MSNBC, to kind of balance out Faux. How’s come you aren’t complaining about the absence of fair and balanced reporting on Faux? Just wondering.
Since when has the world been fair? MSNBC will keep on keeping on until advertisers quit buying ads. Then they will either adapt or fail miserably. Unless, Obama decides to
bailbuy them out, so the government can officially have their own news station. What indication is there that advertisers won’t buy ads on MSNBC?
And … after 8 years of the Fox News/Bush Admin. situation I think talking about the government *NOW* having a their own news station is about… 8 years late.
poor obot. can’t defend MSNBC without uttering “Fox”. grow up kid. try to defend them on their own merits. you’re like a child when you can’t defend them and try to compare. Poor James. lol rofl.
President Bush enters the White House Press Room; the White House Press Corps stand.
President Obama (sic) enters the White House Press Room; the White House Press Corps remains seated.
James, do not dishonor yourself by trying to spin this discrepancy into appropriate conduct in a civil society.
I make no excuses for Fox, James. Nor would I hold up NPR as the example of fair and balanced reporting and/or commentary. Either side of this coin is deeply flawed, as is our current two-party system. The partisan weasels have infected all quarters.
Which means it behooves the individual to look at all sides, put on a critical-thinking cap and try our best to ferret out anything resembling the “Truth.” That means finding individual reporters who still represent what journalism is suppose to mean–not echo chamber gymnastics but actual investigation and facts.
We simply do not have a MSM at this juncture [of any stripe] that we can rely on.
So please, don’t hold up NPR as a shining example. The only thing they do is pump the metrosexual, left-wing intelligentsia side of the argument against the low-brow, flag-waving agenda of others.
We, the American public, have few allies and advocates in the press. If anything all they do is reflect our current political representation: corrupted, rotten at the core.
The NYPost is reporting that the administration is not going to release the “photo op” pictures. Do you think the media will notice? He has no problem with releasing terror pics, but is withholding taxpayer funded photos of Lady Liberty? Perhaps they forgot to put film in the camera?
I found it interesting that GE has bought a large block of advertising from FOX News. So, apparently GE knows where the audience has gone and wants the “green” messaging out to the largest number of viewers.
I think all these networks are dogs.
James
Get the heck off this blog! Obama is a bully and a thug and the actions of the WH press remind me of Hollywood groupies!
America’s journalism is gone ! The reporters seem to be scared as evidence by their rising in unison when Obama enters while stuck to the chair when GWB entered the same door. Now,who gives more doggie cookies?
Actually, the press usually rises when the President enters the room. It is a courtesy. That they didn’t do it when Bush came in was either bad manners or the WH saying stay sitting, please. They also traditionally rise when he leaves, after Helen Thomas used to say “Thank you, Mr. President”. I have been watching presidential news conferences since Kennedy’s administration, and rising when the president enters and leaves is quite normal. Kissing his ass the entire time is not.
Does anyone know if this was a demand from the WH. This is freaky!! The guy never served in the Armed Services and he gets more respect. WF!!
of course it is a demand by the white house. however our suckup media won’t tell us.
Are you claiming that George W. Bush served in the armed services? … Huh?
All indications are actually that Obama doesn’t like it when people stand up to greet him and all of that sort of thing.
i haven’t posted in a long time, since right after the election actually.
i wanted to form an opinion after actually seeing this administration at work. i have to say that i am overall happy and hold high hopes for the future. thank goodness that the dems are in charge now. i think that it would have been catastrophic for this country otherwise.
jmho. take care everyone!
Now we know why you don’t speak up often. You have nothing to add. Just butt speak in praise of 0 … he has done nothing but dismantle this nation. I guess you haven’t noticed ….
” haven’t posted in a long time, since right after the election actually.”drmilak
Now u r up from ur hibernation, drmilak, have u notice any CHANGES?? Yes, sir! long lines of unemployed people, many homeless shelters, shut down factories, empty homes due to foreclosures, flying Air Force One with escorts at taxpayers’ expense for Obama’s photo shoot and soon to come at ur neigborhood, militant Guantanamo detainees. But of course, u will not know ’cause the media is still drooling & feeling the tingle in their legs!
This, drmalik,is how the Obama administration works.Control the media with lots of kool-aids & u get a zombie press corps.Oh, a gift from Obama to many generations to come:HUGE DEBT cause by unexplain spending.ARE YOU AWAKE NOW, DRMALIK ????
Well George W. Bush is a war criminal after all. I think it has more to do with their distaste of Bush than a love of Obama (although they clearly like him) … I’m betting the press stood up for Clinton & Reagan too?
