Anti-Hillary Birthday card still on super market shelves
By NewHampster on May 10, 2009 at 12:10 AM in Hillary Clinton
WTF?
I saw this back during the primary but one assumes things like this and the Hillary Nutcracker* would be gone by now.
I was getting a birthday card for my 92 year old dad when this card just jumped off the shelf. Nearly a year since she withdrew and American Greetings and Shaw’s see fit to keep this crap on the shelf. I wonder how many they still sell. I hope folks visit both those sites and write the people in charge.

Shaw’s Super Markets feedback@shaws.com
We could just boycott.
*I must confess to owning an unopened Hillary Nutcracker given me by my o’bot son-in-law. It might be worth a few bucks someday.

Perhaps you could auction it and donate the proceeds to a charity that values or protects women. Or use the money to buy stock in American Greetings and raise cane at the next shareholders’ meeting.
Thank you for putting this up. Is grrr a word?
Hampster—-Thank you for posting this…I’m definitely going to write American Greetings and voice my anger.
P.S. Did they also have an Obama card last year (during the primaries) that read “There are some things scarier than growing older”? I think I’ll pose that question to Amc. Greetings.
the ACLU, Al Sharpton and the News Media would have made a federal case out of that. The ones who scream discrimination the loudest are often the ones who are the most guilty of it themselves.
The classics never go out of style.
Just when we thought it was possible for you to improve, UBM. And your smiley face ain’t workin’ in this case. Some things ceased being funny a long time ago.
It is sad how many people are so frightened of a capable woman who is super smart and in her excellence. Their fear and insecurity never seems to go “out of style” either.
If anyone ever put out the racist equivalent of any of this kind of garbage and continued to sell it everywhere ad nauseum, we’ll see if you’d put a smiley face on it then.

Tell me about it, sister! “Donna Brazile” is still up in here working that “Stop the ____” shtick.
Whatsamatter, doll? More diversion? Too afraid to respond to what I actually wrote to you?
You want more of a response? How about this. There has been public resistance to Hillary Clinton — on a level of personal dislike — going back to her earliest days as a “political wife” in Arkansas… long before she ever ran for office herself.
Can’t blame it all on gender. It’s about who she is.
And what would you call arms Michele?
That is the biggest crock of crap which all originated from the right wing and ins. cos spending $100Million to defeat her health care proposals.
Personal dislike? Gimme a break — that’s why she has friends dating back 35 years, and people who have loyally stuck with her working for 15 and 20 years — lemme tell ya, my dear, you don’t stick with someone you dislike for so long, nor do you hold your nose and continue working for them — unlike “The One” who has basically no one he can’t point to in that regard — except Rezko and Ayers. How dare you talk about “who she is.” YOU are going to start dishing the old right wing smears now? Shame on you — for about the thousandth time.
What’s the problem faux Black Man I thought you liked the oldies since you’re still laughing at knock knock jokes.
Here’s one for you—— wait for it ——–wait for it———————–wait for it—————
Stop the humorfest!
Male chauvinist PIGS never improve.
They just get stinkier.
That one wears his “BROS before HOs” t-shirt — and his boxer shorts — 24/7
It is not because she is a capable woman they hate her, it is because all of her. If she was a man the same crap would have been dished out. She scared the shit out of old corrupt, wealthy politicians so they had to install their errand boy in her place. Being a woman made it easier for them to attack her on the gender side given the sexist nature of the society. They don’t have to debate her on real issues ( Obama tried that during the primaries and his best line was I agree with senator Clinton). It is the person they hate sadly for the rest of us they are the people with money so they cheated, threatened, lied, baught and fooled to get rid of her.
What is your opinion on the black lawn jockeys the some people had in their yards?
I guess you could call them a classic too.
WOMEN WITH INTELLIGENCE AND EXPERIENCE,MEN WHO SUPPORT THEM AND COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY ALWAYS
PUMAS,BUBBAS,EQUALISTS AND THOSE PEOPLE RULE
again- piss off.
When I see something like this, I take the whole stack, turn it backwards, put it on the back row and behind other items. I just BURY it so no one can find it.
In our society it seems that their are still just a few things that are acceptable to mock and insult:
Being a Woman
and
Being a Christian.
Tom Cat—you are SO right about what/who is acceptable to insult. I would add to that list: successful white men……or any white person…..as Hank Hill (”King of the Hill”)so eloquently queried: “What the hell kind of country is this where you can’t HATE a man unless he’s white!?”
This makes me so angry. Especially since I just saw the article from Sally Quinn about how wonderful Meeeeshell is, I couldn’t finish it BUT the comments are pretty good
Doesn’t surprise me. It means Michelle has been doing some major butt-kissing of the DC elite.
I guess Hillary wasn’t so good at it. Quelle suprise.
What did The Narcissist say to his wife?
Hey Michelle, Aren’t you lucky that I’m The One you married?
It is weird that I just one the other day while searching for a Mother’s Day card. I was in the RiteAid with my mom helping her find cards, and there was a card with Sarah and I said to my mom I bet this is gonna be nasty somehow. Well I opened it and it wasn’t to my surprise. Then I spotted the Hillary one, and knew for sure it would be mean-spririted, and I was right. WTF? Get off the Hillary hating already. The DNC did it’s job in getting rid of her and spoonfeeding the Americans this inept, incompetent. I stuffed the cards behind the display rack, and I’ll go around and keep doing it until they no longer sell them.

How sad is that I hope I do not see one of these cards….it would be zero to 100 in 30 seconds just like those awful graphics curculating during the primaries….
I pitched a fit over the HRC card-got the owner of the local supermarket chain on the phone-and they removed the cards!
Push back!
Excellent
applause and hugs to you..CAT
Just sent them an email, reminding them that like many women, I hold the purse strings in the family, and if they won’t remove those cards and offer an apology out of common decency and respect towards women, maybe they’ll do it out of concern for the loss of revenue!
I also emailed them, thank you for that link. This is exactly the kind of push back they need
Don’t forget to remind them that we have computers and can make our own cards, prettier, wittier and cheaper than theirs. So what do we need them for? Simply as a timesaver, which isn’t worth supporting this sort of misogyny. I haven’t bought a greeting card, or Christmas card in years. I buy card blanks at the computer store and make my own. That enables me to put my own pictures on them, or ones I have copied off the web. And I can add glitter and fun stuff where I want them. Home-made is always more personal. Shows you took the time and made the effort instead of just stopping by and buying one.
Seeing the card made me sad and angry all over again. What the hell is wrong with people? No one would dare publish a ‘funny’ card about 0 or Meechelle, that would be racist, the outrage thunderous (I wouldn’t approve either) but it’s ok to make Hillary and Sarah into cartoon characters and worse. And what pisses me off to this day was the lack of condemnation from the so-called liberal left; you know, the sensitive, care about all of humanity and injustice crowd. No, for them, for the likes of Rhodes and Garofalo, (sp) it was anything to belittle the competition and sweep in the inexperienced 0 because he fitted the PC picture they had painted for themselves, the one that made them feel all warm, fuzzy and self righteous inside. What amuses me, is that it isn’t their picture at all, it was manufactured and marketed by the DNC and corporate interests to fit. They got sold a 0.
Bunch of frigging hypocrites.
My children would never. Nor would my son or daughter in law. They know they’d get an all day lecture. They wouldn’t even purchase one for themselves for fear of me seeing it. Along with me accompanying them back to the store they purchased it from. Them getting a lecture, me asking for their corporate phone number and getting their money back. I don’t ask for a lot from my children, but they know there are certain things I will snap over.
They know they get a free babysitter, that would die to protect their children. I will even cancel my own plans for them. I spoil them rotten both with love and anything they want I can give them. I’d do anything in this world I can to help my children, even if it means I have to do without. But, I am no door mat. There are some things I will not tolerate and that would be one of them. They know the consequences…see how angry I get at just the idea?
Anyway thank you for the article. I will be calling American Greeting and letting them know what I think. I purchase a lot from American Greeting. I will no more till that thing is off the shelves.
The cards are still there because no one bought them–it’s actually a good sign.
if they havn’t sold by now it,s time to remove them..
My note to American Greetings:
Dear Sir or Madam,
You should be roundly ashamed of yourselves that this awful card is still on your shelves. Secretary of State Clinton is a woman deserving of respect. She has spent 35 years fighting for the rights of women, children, first responders, veterans, education and health care.
Which of these groups do you think it is appropriate to insult, as you are so blithely insulting her?
Please do the decent thing and remove this card from your shelves. Certainly, if I continue to see it there, I will no longer buy your product.
There are plenty of other options out there and yours does not need to be one of them.
you hillary people probably find entertaining that similar items that poke fun at reagan, bush, mr. clinton exist. hillary’s past is Not without fault and certainly has drawn (legitimate?) criticism; imho she seems to be maturing in her State role, it’s as though it’s not all about Her so much now.
freedom of speech is possibly our most valuable right in this country. you folks need to lighten up & accept that politics is not always pretty
Every time I see that card in stores, I turn it face down in the rack. Every single time.
I saw that same card at Wal-Mart a few months ago
If they’re still selling that distasteful Hillary card, then perhaps a little quid pro quo is called for. One can only hope to buy a card depicting
O-bla-bla in his Muslim garb or maybe one featuring Emperor Ego with that cigarette hanging out of his mouth looking oh so stoned. Or maybe someone can print a new U.S. map with 57 states–equally funny, huh??
A dear friend of mine at school was given that horrible nut cracker from her daughter. When she showed it to me I just walked away. She later came to my classroom and apologized for offending me.
During the campaign a man was interviewed in some small town because he was printing t-shirts depicting O-bla-bla as “Curious George”. I can’t stand BO but I find no humor in such disrepect. That’s just wrong.
OT- Hillary’s campaign debt is still around $2 million. After the nomination was “given” to BO he promised to help surrender her debt. Hillary in turn brought the majority of her 18 million supporters to 0-bla-bla’s camp. Without Hillary’s followers John McCain might have won the election.
Just think…..
I wish. We’d be sooooo much better off.
I just sent to American Greeting link my displeasure & demand to cease selling disgusting Hillary Clinton cards.I hope this company will listen to the complains of the Hillary supporters.
Thanks for posting the link.
Thats Ok I have a huge Hope and Change sign on my dart board and throw darts at it all day~~
