There’s Obama And His Promises; On The Other Hand, There Is Hillary Clinton…
By Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy on May 22, 2009 at 6:30 PM in Bamboozling, Current Affairs, GLBT, Gay Rights, Human Rights, Obama's Broken Promises, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, State Department
Who is a woman of her word. I know, that is a bit unusual in the political realm, at least given the example set by the president whom she serves (eeww, yuck, still have a hard time saying that). My good friend, Ani, at No Quarter tipped me off to this story. The magazine that broke this story is “On Top Magazine” (don’t ask me - I’ve never heard of it before), so don’t beat yourself up if you haven’t seen this. Maybe if you are a regular subscriber to USA Today, or travel a lot, you might have seen this article. I tell you what, though, a lot of the news sources reporting this are not in this country. Gee, I wonder why?
Maybe it is because we have been having people like Lt. Dan Choi speaking out, asking President Obama not to fire him under the policy, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” recently. Likewise for Lt. Col.Victor Ferenbach, and Major Witt, all calling for a repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, so these highly trained, highly decorated people can continue the work they do best on our behalf (I have written about these folks just recently, and SusanUnPC posted an incredible video of Lt. Col. Fehrenbach. They want to continue to serve their country even though their country is treating them like second class citizens.
Except in the State Department. Yes, that Hillary Clinton has made a move that should warm the hearts of everyone who cares about equality and social justice. Check out this article, Gay US Diplomats To Get Equal Benefits:
SECRETARY of State Hillary Clinton has promised to provide equal benefits to partners of homosexual US diplomats stationed overseas, a congressman said.Howard Berman, head of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, had sought to require the State Department to offer benefits such as medical care, transport between postings and security training to partners regardless of sexual orientation.
Mr Berman, in a hearing on funding for the Foreign Service, said he would drop his legislative bid as “it is my expectation, based on very recent conversations, that the Secretary of State will move forward with implementing all of the benefits provided in that provision in the very near future”.
The congressman invited to the hearing Michael Guest, the former US ambassador to Romania who in 2007 left the Foreign Service, citing unfair treatment of his partner.
“For 26 years he served our country with distinction and was sadly forced to leave the Foreign Service when he could no longer accept the second-class status accorded his lifetime partner,” said Mr Berman, a Democrat from California.
“But I am heartened that soon no more of our best and brightest will be forced to choose between family and country,” he said.
The ranking Republican member on the committee, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida, has supported the effort.
Ms Ros-Lehtinen signed a letter to Mrs Clinton sent in February by Tammy Baldwin, a Democrat from Wisconsin who is openly lesbian, warning the State Department risked losing qualified diplomats unless it provided equality to gay partners.
But another Republican lawmaker criticized a separate part of the bill aimed at promoting gay rights.
The funding bill calls on US diplomats to encourage other countries to revise laws that restrict consensual homosexual relations or limit the freedoms of gay people and groups.
Wow. That is HUGE. Really huge. And that pretty much says it all about the difference between Clinton, and Obama. One walks the walk, and one talks and talks.
You may recall that she said on the Ellen Degeneres Show that if elected president (and she would have been had she not been thrown overboard by the DNC), she would grant federal benefits to GLBT people. Here’s the video, just in case you want a refresher (and want to see Hillary again - don’t you miss her? I do…):
As a bonus, watch the second part - Secretary Clinton is hilarious!
Since Hillary wasn’t able to provide rights for all LGBT US citizens, she is doing it for the ones she can in the Diplomatic Corp. Good on her, and good for them. It is a start. And a glimpse of what we all could have had…

I absolutely miss her! I wake up every day and turn on the news, hoping that something has happened to awaken the world to the fraud of frauds that now occupies the White House and he is on his way out and into jail. In my happy place scenario, Obama goes to jail, Biden appoints Hillary as VP and then just a couple of weeks later Biden steps down for health reasons and a terrible wrong is made right!
Been there; done that.
it’s coming
Biden will probably fire himself. (snicker)
Perhaps Hillary has agreed to camPAIN (lol) for Bambi in 2012IF Bambi replaces HER with BIDEN before 2012, I wonder if she’d even TRY running against him?
If Hillary doesn’t do it in 2012 I doubt she’ll have the energy to do it again in 2016
jez what a HUGE injustice it is to have SUCH an INCREDIBLY GIFTED WOMAN shoved aside by a bunch of racists. (and I’m talking about a certain percentage of the 90 percent that voted for BAMBI ONLY because he looks like a black man)
he STILL didn’t get as many votes as SHE did in the primaries
As someone older than Hillary, OF COURSE she’d have the energy in 2016.
Yep! Me, too. Maybe dreaming it so, can make it happen with the right amount of work and activism!
Great dream. I dream it all the time too.
political identitycrisis
Yes! A dream come true…Barack The Fraud immigrates to Canada (and learns why single-payer health care’s the best!) and Hillary Clinton is the Prez!…I do believe in miracles without going to Lourdes…
RabbleRouser Rev.Amy is right!
Hillary walks the talk
Barack talks and talks and talks….from both sides of his fraudulent mouth!…
Bravo to HIllary for standing strong on this issue, as in all others!
I’m watching COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF with GEENA DAVIS again and again and again…a great series on DVD now!
R3A, thank you so much for pointing out that but for the DNC, HRC would have been elected POTUS, over JMc, by a much wider margin than BO.
http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/11/12/politics/horserace/entry4596620.shtml?source=search_story
and what is this is important, why? We have a president who won the election in November by a wide margin - and he won the primaries fair and square (except for all of you Obama - haters who will NEVER GET OVER YOUR HILLARY’S LOSS -) what a sad lot you are, to be harping on this still.
It’s really a joke to hear you saying how ‘hillary would have done this, Hillary would have done that..’ You have NO PROOF of anything she would have done differently, no proof whatsoever.
she is doing a great job as SOS and doesn’t have to face any negative music - she seems happy, so why don’t you let it go?
He stole the nomination and the presidency from Hillary so we WON’T be getting over it anytime soon! Maybe Huffington Post or Daily Kos is more suitable for you.
He won the nomination fair and square. Simply put he had a much better run primary campaign that focused on all the states, instead of the supposed “key states” like Hillary did.
They are both talented, intelligent people who are doing a great job in tough times. Are there points to criticize him on? Of course, and thats true for all presidents (and would have been if Hillary won too) he is not a god after all.
Fair and square? You are misinformed..figures you would believe that because you believe Obama is doing a good job right?
Please restrain yourself from commenting if you are not factual.
Can’t you read or hear what Obama has done?
don’t you know he has gone back on almost all his promises. Remember he was for single payer healthcare before big pharma and insurance corporations were for him!
Hillary voted against the Fisa issue, she is supporting partner rights , she has more experience and knowledge without having to ask her advisors about every sentence he makes!
i don’t think Obama could do anything in foreign policy as she has .
How can we get over the election being hijacked by a group of the DNC that manipulated and threatened and stole Hillary’s delegates and you don’t care as long as the american idol candidate bought and paid for by lobbyists didn’t mean a word he said in his path that was paved by these groups to the white house.
You maybe haven’t noticed that Obama has reversed on alomost every promise he made and remember you have to listen to him very carefully because he has a way of saying opposite of what he means.
on the other hand
Hillary stands up for what she has said in the primarys and knows her information without consulting with the creep AXELROD. I hope you aren’t gay or in need of good healthcare, because you are being sold out every bit as much as the people that counted on him to help with mortgages, but the wall street people got their money, just as all the other big contributors that paid for his selection. The plans he is making are being put off until close to the next election so he can lie to you again! And even then you better listen very closely to whats he says as opposed to what he and his buddies mean.
ROSE
Axelrod is not only a “Creep” of the first degree, he is an UNGRATEFUL creep! If it weren’t for Hillary his daughter wouldn’t be enjoying the fruits of the medical research she initiated via Fund in the late 90s to help disabled children like his. His family benefitted from Hillary’s kindness! And he repaid Hillary by vilifying and lying about her and showing Obummer his clueless protege how to be a covert misogynist! Shame on Axelrod and his wife!!
there is lots of proof still out there…..
Better watch your Kool-Aid Drinking
Go away ACORN.
OMG…LOL, you are the sad one indeed. Still coming here to read our posts. We must be relevant or you wouldn’t bother. haha
LMAO
Define fair.
Define square.
His “victory” was neither. You sound just like the douchebag bushbots who told the rest of the country to “get over it” when Smirky the Chimp stole the 2000 election. The only thing I can say about you with certainty is that you obviously have no shame. Why don’t you go troll elsewhere, ass-clown, at a website where your double-digit IQ wouldn’t be noticed. I suggest HuffnPuffPo since they cater to the lowest common denominator.
Keep your delusion that your POTUS won the primary fair and square. You’ll wake up when you can handle the truth.
Well, Naomi,
I won’t let it go because I am sick and tired of being ashamed and embarrassed by the POTUS. That’s been done way too long because of the stupidity and naivete` of dumbasses like you!
I want to see a real leader in the White House, ASAP, and not this President Braindeath that clearly you thought would be fun and cool!
If you are for any of the things Obama is doing, we were never on the same side.
Naomi
Sweetie, since when did Barry Hussein Obama won “fair and square” hon?
Go do some research.
The Axelrod fraudulent, aggressively sexist campaign cheated the caucuses; never have so many Chicagoans dead since the 80s been able to vote!!!
And HIllary did get more of thePopular Vote than the Flip-Offer/Flip-Flopping scambag now occupying the White House! Wake up sweetie!
The TOTUS Presidency was based on Fraud. A repeat performance of the Bush-Gore 2000 fraud! This time with a DNC incestuous twist of logic! Shame on Barack and his anorexic resume that couldn’t even get him a job cleaning counters at the Acorn cafeteria!

BARACK = BUSH III
The lady walks the walk. Thank God we have her as our SOS. I am waiting for the day, the sleep walking citizens who voted for BO wake up. Hillary 2012.
Yes!
Hillary is a pioneer in HealthCare Reform since 1993, when Obummer was busy cheating his community organizing competitors like Sen. Alice Palmer!
Hillary said she would give gays rights they deserve–human rights–and she did keep her word! Like always!
Hillary’s stand on FISA never altered; Obummer’s changed thrice. Obummer chnaged his position on Torture/Gitmo at least 4 times!
A weak, prevaricating, unsure, narcissistic, flip=flopping, NO GRAVITAS PREZ! Even his own followers are threatening to leave the Hope & Change Cult!
Great post, Rev.Amy!!!
HIllary 2012!
Obummer = Bush III
Obummer = Carter II
Our Hillary
What a fabulous quote. Thank you for sharing it, Katmoon.
And thanks, RRRAmy for posting this story. Certainly, Hillary has her hands full as does our President. It is gratifying to see that she is paying close attention to this issue and stepped up quickly to do something about it. Hillary truly walks the walk, and yeah, I miss her, too.
Thank YOU, Ani, for telling me abt it! I appreciate it.
And those are some great Maya Angelou quotes y’all are putting up - thanks!
She doesn’t get a lot of press HERE, but people are definitely paying attention to her abroad. This story was in a whole bunch of international papers. It is just more of Obama’s press corps not willing to highlight what she is doing because they know it will overshadow Obama, or call him out on his lack of action.
And you know, I was pretty opposed to her being the SOS because she would serve at Obama’s pleasure, but now, I am glad she is there - she is received extremely well abroad, is working hard, as always, and probably would not be able to do as much in the Senate since anything she did that didn’t toe the line would automatically be labeled asundermining Obama, blah, blah, blah. Most of all, I am glad she is there because she is the only grown up in the room, and we need that desperately…
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/05/do-you-want-you.html Obama doesn’t get enough good press or positive media, so now there is OTV…
Yuck and double yuck.
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise
Maya Angelou.
Maya read that to Hillary during the primary, at an event she held at Wake Forest University.
our HERO.HILLARY…
WE LOVE HILLARY! SHE WILL ALWAYS BE PRESIDENT OF OUR HEARTS AND MINDS!
And I just can’t help thinking what the world missed…so I’ll just go back to watching my DVD’s of Geena Davis in COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF series…..it brings memories of what might have been but for the fraudulent kindergarten prez now punch-drunk at the White House….
Rise Hillary Rise…..
18 million will always be proud of you!
I just have no idea where the comparison is between Hillay R Clinton & 0
Move on Naomi and make sure the door hits u on the ass on the way out..
Evening Ani,
thanks,I love having a female role model, near my age in my lifetime..SOS Clinton. Love Her!
I’m not surprised. What might have been. Sigh.
I guess I am the odd ball because I have lost all trust in Hillary Clinton. I supported her wholeheartedly and defended her against ANYONE who spoke ill of her during the campaign. There is no doubt in my mind that she would have been a great President and I also STRONGLY feel that she would have made history by becoming the first female president running independent had she continued to fight. Hill had a army around her and she would have owned the economy issue—all she had to do was continue to fight!!
Instead, she chose to bow down and give in to the same party that did everything they could to destroy her. She ended up endorsing and supporting Obama’s policies. Everything she said about Obama during the campaign is coming to light but now she is singing a different tune. Forgive me for being naive in thinking that Hill would stand her ground instead of play politics. Forgive me for actually believing her when she said she will stand by her supporters as long as they stand by her! Mrs. Clinton is very intelligent and capable but her words don’t mean much of anything to me anymore and I am one former Clinton supporter who would absolutely NOT support her should she run for President again. I can no longer trust what she says and does and I honestly don’t know what she really stand for.
VERY disappointing! I just feel like she sold her soul and for what?
To the contrary. HRC is a patriot and is serving our country and us, by proxy. For her to do otherwise would be a terrible waste of talent. Besides, the boy wonder, That One, needs constant adult supervision.
sorry, but my definition of a true patriot is someone standing strong by their convictions and not compromising who you are. Hill stated that America was worth fighting for, I agree. But she chose to stop fighting and made (what I am sure) was a hard decision to “sleep with the enemy” and disregard all that she said she stood for during the campaign. I simply do not see her actions as what I would call patriotic. I call it selling out.
So you would rather have Kerry as SoS, huh? She is the right person for the position. This isn’t about That One–this is about our country, which she is serving. Had Dubya had a few good advisors (e.g., someone like HRC), other than that abject idiot Cheney or Rummy, et al., we wouldn’t be in the mess we find ourselves in. I don’t like That One and that is why I am glad HRC is manning the State Department.
As for selling out, I disagree. She is doing what she can FOR our country. The only ones who sold out are the obamabots, the bushbots, and those who would dump a real American simply because she agreed to serve the country.
I guess we will agree to disagree. Hills decision to endorse and promote everything that she ran against during the campaign, to me, is selling out.
She made a promise and she kept it. It broke my heart too, but she is a woman of her word. And even though she asked me to vote for the jerk, I didn’t because I never made such a promise.
Did the same Sophie, and SOS Clinton still has my trust and faith; in weather fair and foul.
Was she suppose to simply go quietly into the night? I don’t mean that in a rude manner, I am asking because, why should she have to give up or be seen as giving in? Perhaps the 3rd way was to continue on, not leaving a lifetime of service as some faded memory. I don’t see her as bowing down, rather I see her standing quite tall amongst the short minded.
No I do not think she was suppose to go quietly into the night. Actually, I think and clearly stated in my post that she should have continued to fight TO THE END!!! If she was going to lose, she should have lost on her own terms not the terms of the leaders of the Dem Leaders!!
I respect the fact that you do not see her decision as bowing down, well I feel differently and ask that you respect my point of view even though it is very clear that we totally disagree!
Let’s continue to disagree with a level of respect. Thanks!
I believe the respect is reflected well in both our posts; I appreciate your disagreement and look forward to hearing more about your position. We may not agree, truly I feel your perspective is important as well.
Likewise!! Have a great day!
IMHO, Interesting that I felt the same way as you describe after she threw her support behind Obama. I still feel hurt, but I also have come to the conclusion that at that time she felt overwhelmed by her advisers and the personal debt she incurred–we all remember how Obama filled the coffers with millions of $$$ from undisclosed donors (foreign donors and national lobbyists , etc)while she had to lend her own funds to the campaign. I do hope and wished she would run in 2012 as INDEPENDENT though. I would support her in a heart beat!!!
I dont think anybody associated with Obama is going to be able to get the independent vote…
That is where Hillary made her mistake…She put party above country….(From the way Obama and the DNC played there might have been something more precious at stake for Hillary…But Hillary did end up bowing down to them whether it was due to blackmail or ??).
By 2012… when Obama’s first term ends I have a feeling that America is going to want some big changes…..Changes that have nothing to do with Obama, anyone associated with the Him or the DNC.
By 2010 I think we will be seeing some big shake ups in DC in both parties…. Actually I think by 2010 there will probably be some big shake ups in the states too … the recent Calif election put a message out there for all of America…If you look around many states are already saying that they have had enough with what Obama and DC is doing.
You say party before country - but I say that Hillary is a political realist. In order to stay relevant and do something positive she determined she should stay with the party and accept SoS. If Obama’s Chicago thugocracy fails as badly as you project, it will be most likely with his domestic agenda and the economy, and Hillary is therefore better off being SoS rather than congress.
Then why not remain a Senator? I believe that as more and more people wake up and realize what a fraud Obama truly is, they will turn completely against anything having to do with him, his administration, and Congress.
I think she would have been in a stronger position as a Senator but as we see the Chicago thugocracy playing out, they’re not above threatening people/companies, etc. The DNC might have told her they would do everything to drive her out of her seat if she didn’t play ball with them and in the end, Hillary did what she felt would be best for the country.
I do agree that just maybe the Clintons got threatened by the DNC or Obama or Obama’s people.
However I think Hillary accepting the SOS position with all those conditions just made Obama and his team even stronger.
Obama and his team not only pretty much silenced Hillary but silenced Bill in the bargain too.
I couldn’t agree with you more!!
Sorry, I meant to post my comment under Confused American not Benjamin. Sorry!
Amirosa, I think Hill lost her credibility as an independent when she decided to join forces with Obama. Everything that she warned us about regarding Obama during the campaign has or is in the process of coming to light but now it’s all good.
I simply lost trust in her. She chose that sorry party (the same party that treated her and her husband like a dog)over the country and her loyal supporters. I simply can not respect that. I also can no longer support or defend her.
I think the final straw for me was how Bill and Hillary had to and did jump through so many hoops for Hillary to get the SOS job.
As I said before Bill and Hilllary were forced to jump through more hoops than any other person Obama selected for WH jobs in order for Hillary to get the SOS job. In fact they did more, and provided more information than even Obama did to get into the Presidental office.
Truth be know I trully felt the Obama administration was not only trying to silence Bill, but to see how far the Clintons would go for the crumbs they were willing to throw out.
IMHO I am one of those that have the same feelings as you. I think Hillary could have been much more effective in the Senate. Instead she took the SOS job which has given her very little Limelight.
Whatever Hillary was promised that Thursday night behind closed doors will not help her in any future presidental bid. I think the SOS will not lead to a presidental nomination especially in 2012.
By 2012 I have a feeling that any dem or anyone associated with Obama will not have a chance in H3LL of winning. I have a feeling that even a republican will have a hard road to dig to win the presidental bid. At the rate the nation is going I have a feeling that an independent party will have the best chance in 2012. Since Hillary did not break off in 2008 and then joined forces with the Obama team I doubt anyone would respect her as an independent candidate.
Wow, I honestly thought that I was the only former Hill supporter who felt this way. Thanks for sharing!
You’re not the only one, by a long shot.
Independents never win Presidential elections. Furthermore, had she stayed in the Senate, BO & Co would have worked to render her irrelevant through isolation.
The Dems have invested a lot of money and effort to feather their own nests by installing Obama. She would not have sacrificed her core principles for Pelosi, Reid, or anyone else.
It looks to me like she is pretty much irrelevant now and it appears that a lot of oversight/duties that is generally given to SOS’s have been distributed to others within Obama’s cabinet. Perhaps this is mere coincidence (yeah right).
I would have conceded to your point that independents never win because that is what history has shown but history has also shown that no black person have never come close to winning presidential elections and now we have a black president (the wrong black man was chosen to make history though). So I find great fault in your argument there. I STRONGLY believe that Hill would have beaten Obama and McCain had she ran independent but there is no need to debate this because we will never know.
In regards to sacrificing her core principles. I think that statement is a complete joke. I honestly don’t know what her core principles are. But if the real Hill is the one who campaigned for President the past two years —–well that one ALREADY sacrified her core principles!!
independents haven’t won TILL NOW. i don’t look for the dems or repubs to do that well in the near future. the dems are not their way to blowing every opportunity they ever had. naw, make that they have blown it. the amount of disgruntled indies is growing big time.
If she had stayed in the Senate—Hillary could have spoken her own mind instead blowing Obama’s horn. Plus at least Bill wouldnt have to silently watch while Obama and his people destroy America.
I don’t think she sold her soul to anybody, and I’m sure there is much that Obama is doing that she doesn’t agree with it. If the Obama agenda fails, Hillary will be in much stronger position, since she’s not in Congress and won’t have to justify this or that vote. I’m glad she’s where she is, and the people at State are thrilled with her leadership. Hillary Clinton is a survivor. 16 years of being demonized and trashed by the right, and then getting the same treatment from her own party - and Hillary’s approval by We The People has never been higher.
I concur. She could do little as a single Senator but a lot as SoS. I’m certain the State Department is thrilled to have her and that she is working her backside off to look out after our interests. I don’t care if she’s working for That One or not–she’s a lot tougher than that scrawny excuse for a POTUS. I’ll just bet she scares the willies out of him.
If Hillary is concurring with what Obama is doing then she has really dug her grave and ended any prospect of 2012 or later.
Remember by 2016 she will be in her late 60s
By 2016 Hillary will be almost 70 years old, she was born October 26, 1947. Even though she is a fiesty 62 I think that will be a bit too old to run.
She is getting bigger than ever. The way to make her mark and to help others is to stay in the sandbox, not to slink away into the night as many of his surrogates tried to get her to do. She is quietly going about her business and giving incredible service to the American people and to our policy abroad. She could not run as an indie being 22M in debt with no party infrastructure behind her. It was not possible. She did the best she could do under the circumstances so she could live to fight another day. I wanted her to fight on, too, but if she did, she would have continued to be excoriated in the media, by Obama and byher own party. I did not want her burned at the stake. I’ve never seen anyone exhibit the courage that she did. I’m going to give her a break here.
She did not desert anyone in my view. Deserting us would be if she didn’t stay to give service. As Amy said above, we need an adult in the room.
Due respect, I feel you are forgetting the point of this piece — giving rights to partners of gay diplomats. Condi never did that. Hillary could not do that if she were not involved here.
She is taking the long view. Don’t forget. She is a Scorpio and, like the Phoenix, they always rise from the ashes to live again.
Ani
This was a very well thought-out, logical post…Hillary indeed deserves our respect! And I am glad she’s not in the Senate! She suffered enough…Let the Obummer idiots hang themselves slowly through their flip-flops and lack of creditibility…
How can you say she is not standing by her supporters? She is quietly fulfilling all the promises she made during the campaign, despite having her hands tied by working for O’Fraud. She is classy and acting on her beliefs. THAT’S how you stand by your supporters–by walking the walk.
RRRA,
I definitely miss her . . . and I’m thankful that she’s not in congress at this particular time.
HRC, the woman who’s entire career exemplifies hard work, dedication, honesty, graciousness and class. I admired her as First Lady, and I admired the way she put her head down and went to work as a U.S. Senator. She worked across the aisle with people who had demonized and trashed her for eight straight years. Her presidential campaign was an inspiration to me.
I’m sure she doesn’t agree with a lot that Obama is doing, but I’m glad she is where she is - and so are the career State Department people.
The way she handled the outcome of the primary — well, I’ll just say that she’s a much bigger person than I am.
Absolutely agree, Benjamin. Hillary Clinton is and has always been an inspiration for me, too. She never quits, she’s tireless and proven again and again that she is dedicated to public service and . . . people, all of us. She gets knocked down, she gets back up and keeps pushing forward. I’ve admired her from the start as First Lady and I continue to admire her guts and energy. And yes, she does have a record of true bipartisanship.
She’s incredibly smart and poised, and I’m really proud, as an American, that we have her serving as SOS. A class act through and through!
She is doing the best she can for America. She and Bill have always gotten more respect from outside the country then from within.
I can not think of a better person then Hillary Clinton for SoS at the present time.
Anyone else that backtrack selected would not be trusted. Do I wish I could say Madam President, yes I do but I will take what I can get right now and look toward the future in which she will pay a big part toward America’s best interest.
WOMEN WITH INTELLIGENCE AND EXPERIENCE, MEN WHO SUPPORT THEM AND COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY ALWAYS
PUMAS,BUBBAS,EQUALISTS AND THOSE PEOPLE RULE
IF Hill was truly interested in doing what was best for AMERICA then I think she should have continued to fight and continued to expose Obama! Remember, Hill was a force! Obama outspent her in almost every instance but he still could not whip her.
Hill could have won this thing! She once said that she was continuing to fight because of the many women and little girls she inspred. Well what her actions told this woman and my girls is that it is alright to join forces with the same group of people that did everything they could to destroy you and your husband. Sorry, that is not a lesson that I want my girls to learn! She should have fought and if she was going to lose, she should have lost on her own terms!
She would have been more relevant, powerful and more potent had she fought!
Well said IMHO
IMHO & Confused American. At the convention she fought to have her name submitted into nomination. In the end when her NY & CA delegations deserted her there was no other avenue to fight. One can not beat their head against a stone wall. Sorry the 2 of you can not be objective about this issue.
Name anything that was dug up about Obama that stuck? Auchi? Ayers? Rezko? Wright? Pflegher? Blogoavich? ACORN? School records? Medical records? Birth Certificate? Ties to the Black Panthers? Anything? Crickets… Obama was and still is the teflon man. Anything Hillary would have said would have been perceived as sour grapes? The media would have excoriated her. Now, a least politically, she lives on to fight and do right by our country. My admiration for her continues to grow.
Agree beachnan. She is far from irrelevant.
You are correct. Obama was teflon man and actually you and me or anyone would be teflon if you had practically the entire press corp protecting you anytime something potentially damaging came your way. They did not expose alot of info and anything that was potentially damaging was covered by being belittled, joked upon and shoved under the rug. Fox news was successful in bringing real attention to Jeremiah Wright. Obama was in a deep mess so he gave a speech that purposely took the attention off of his relationship with Wright. And what did the media do, basically what they are doing now. They focus on his words and NOT the inconsistencies between his words and actions. This has been the trademark. Coincidence—-yeah right!
If anyone was beginning to gain ground, Obama supporters including many in the liberal MSM played a very familiar card—–THE RACE CARD! And this card worked everytime.
Personally I think Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin would have WHIPPED Obama had they (their campaign team) found an effective strategy in combatting the MSM’s constant beating.
Slowly but surely opponents of Obama are learning how to criticize him and his policies in such a way that no one can scream racism. What people are learning to do is effectively oppose.
Pelosi was teflon until the MSM surprisingly decided to actually question and investigate her statements and inconsistencies plus the GOP are now finding a backbone and are keeping the heat on her. TRUST ME, it is only a matter of time before the same happen to Obama.
No one is teflon, people just have to find efficient and effective ways to get your target!
I cannot imagine SOS Clinton going a different route than she did. I was disappointed, but not by SOS Clinton. I was sickened by the DNC, the media and every talking head. I have never seen a candidate more savaged than SOS Clinton. What I truly admire is her courage, the type of courage that shows she has more than her own interests in mind. The type of courage that has kept her friends close and her adversaries, closer.
Exactly, well said.
Thank you for this post. Madame Secretary is indeed inspiring. Rise, Hillary, rise.
Rise Lord Vader. Rise.
We’re not talking about Cheney, here. Try the other thread, troll.
Yeah..Enough of that issue for a moment.
Obama was actually really funny today
Check out this exchange…
That is proof positive that Obama has a lot to hide and by his answer believes he got away with it..
That One is a carbuncle on the body politic as far as I’m concerned.
Think of the stature Colin Powell had before he allowed himself to be used by Bush.
I can’t imagine Hillary getting into that position so there is a good chance she will come out the other side with her reputation not only intact but enhanced.
Hillary has already been used and abused by Obama.
When she lost at the Convention I still felt Hillary was a lady to be reconned with, yet no longer was she the fighter that she had been protraying. (Bill seemed willing at one time to let the cat out of the bag, but not any more…)
When she rolled over and did the DNC’s bidding, I still had some respect for her. (Guess I was hoping that just maybe Bill and/or Hillary would take down Obama some way).
But when she took the SOS office I think it was then that I realized that something was admist.
It was especially strange to me how the Obama administration demeaned Bill and Hillary in order for her to even get the SOS job. Bill and Hillary had to pretty much kiss Obama’s A$$ so that Hillary could get the job. Remember all the information Obama’s people required from Bill and HIllary, not to mention the promises extracted from Bill to obstain from certain types of activites. Was it just me or did any one else notice that other Obama selectees were not expected to do what The Obama people demanded of the Clintons for their government jobs.
I would say about 20% or more of Hillary hard core supporters are no longer in her camp. I would say that many of Hillary supporters do not understand why she would let the Obama administration silence her the way that they have. Hey guys think about it —- Whose policies is she pushing around the world… Not hers they’re Obama’s..Obama is now her boss. She has said more than once in press interviews that she now works for Obama and is supporting and pushing Obama’s policies because he is the boss.
Just maybe Hillary would not be such a big figure head as a Senator versus SOS, but I do feel she would not have lost the respect many of us had for her. As Obama loses respect, so do the people in his administration, including Hillary.
PS—Strange but this is the same type of information that Obama has been refusing to reveal.
The political reality is that blacks are about 50% of the primary electorate in the Democrat Party. She has to appease them! She needs them to vote for her in any future political venture so she is reluctantly supporting Obama. Being falsely labeled a racist really hurt Hillary.
I don’t think this stat is accurate. They’re only 12% of the population. If there were 100 people in this country, 12 would be black, 88 would be non-black.
If you figure half of the population being dem and half repub when voting, then 50 would be dems. Even with all blacks voting dem, that would be 12 out of 50 being black, which is 24%.
If you figure thirds with people voting independent (which is a high estimate), 33% would be dem. 12 out of 33 being black is 36%.
Your math looks to be correct. That being said, I don’t think HRC needs to cater to anyone. But if someone insists that she needs to cater to a group to remain relevant (Warehouse553), then she should cater to the Latinos.
Frankly I’m getting a bit tired of hyphenated-Americans with their emphasis on differences rather than similarities and their loyalty to group in lieu of country.
Well put. I am also tired beyond belief by identifying markers of sexual orientation, victim vs non victim, gender, skin tone, or whatever someone wants to identify themselves as being first. Others being so quick to judge or feeling smug superiority ( in reality probably a sense of inferiority), that they tip into anger if their perceptions are challenged, they do and say anything to cut someone else down. It’s been a mean season in America.
All these whines are really splintering the societal framework rather than solidifying it.
How about coming through the door as human first and then using your best traits and strengths to better the country and the world.
This is what I see Hillary doing in less than ideal circumstances. No excuses or finger pointing - just doing. It’s a lesson for everyone.
What an excellent post, Buzz. My hat is off to you.
Ferd.
you are forgetting the rest of the population which comprises 88%. i think folks better start thinking about taking care of the average american no matter what their ethic origins.
I agree. I was solidly for Hillary. I could see if she felt she had to publicly support Obama since she was a Democratic Senator. But she didn’t have to take the SOS job. I think Obama gave it to her so she wouldn’t vote against any of his kook shit in the Senate or have influence on others to do the same.
Elections can get down to some low levels but calling someone a racist is crossing the line. That is slander because the Clintons are not racist
The reason why Obama wanted all this info and promises from the Clintons is because they are powerful. He wanted to keep their hands tied.
Hillary showed such courage and fortitude during the primaries. My mother who is a die hard Republican said she and other Repub’s were ready to vote for Hillary and thought she showed alot of spunk w all the crap thrown at her. Personally I think it is sad and disappointing that the first viable female candidate for President is now licking Obama’s boots. What a strong message she could have sent to women and the country by accepting her fate but staying in the Senate and voting how she pleased. I don’t believe she truly shares all of these kook ideas of Obama’s. But she is not in a position now to do anything against them.
I personally don’t think she has a snowball’s chance in hell of ever becoming president now. If she had stayed a Senator, voted against some of his crap, yes. But she now she is backing all of his crap and that finishes it off.
What you are saying, in essence, is that someone else should be SoS. Let’s see, we could have Kerry or some other drooling obamabot. Oof. That is a non-starter from get-go. I’ll take HRC.
How much influence do you believe she has on all of his crazy ass shit as SOS? NONE. As for drooling, she is doing plenty of that, lavishing unnecessary praise on him. I’ve heard her, it was sickening.
My only position, which has been consistent, is that we are better off with her there than with her not there. If that is in dispute, then tell me who would be better.
Tomcat you have what many are thinking. Many feel that by letting Obama tie the Clinton’s hands, and bowing down to Obama’s and the DNC’s requests Hillary will probably not be considered a good presidental candidate.
Tom Cat “wodje”
Hillary is far away from Obama’s boots, let along be “licking his boots” as you suggest!
There are plenty other followers blinded by his fraudulent rhetoric busily “licking” the Messia’s boots. Same way that moron Bush’s boots were being licked till the Iraqi journalist threw his shoes at this empty head!
Hillary is a professional who inspires authority and is doing an execmplary job representing her country! Her dignity has not been compromised at all. On the contrary, she was intelligent enough to know to stay away from this punch-drunk Prez and perform her public service obligations in the best possible fashion.
Hilllary’s LOYALTY to her party and country are always there for you to see. And she walks the talk. See her new policy on GLBT rights in the Diplomatic service.
I see no “licking” of Obama’s boots! What I see is someone miles away from his stinking boots with intelligence and a tremendous dedication to public Service and love of country. Maybe we don’t have the same degree of myopia…
I agree, Mary. What puzzles me is that no one has suggested an alternative to HRC (i.e., if she shouldn’t be in the position, then who should be?). I asked that of wodiej and again at the end of this thread. Crickets is all I’ve gotten so far.
I would think any position where Bill or HIllary didnt have an Obama muzzle on them would be better.
Due to all the hoops the Clintons had to jump though for Hillary to get SOS, Obama’s team pretty much silenced the two of them.
Do you really think she is doing herself any good by peddling Obama’s goods around the world, much less doing any good for America.
Answer the question I posed.
Anyone can spout Obama policies around the world…and that is pretty much what Hillary is doing…
Yea go with Kerry, or another one of the Obama robots ??? what would be the difference….The difference might that with Hillary people think Obama is even a greater man.
Im not really sure what everyone thinks is so all fired important about the SOS position. Its not like she is going to go out create World Peace with Obama’s policies…
Remember everything she does is promoting the Obama World Idolism.
Oh, and I thought you were all about country first, which is what HRC is demonstrating by serving us, irrespective of who is POTUS. My mistake for making such an assumption.
As for the SoS position, if you don’t understand its significance, then I can’t help you any further.
She has a contagious laugh. I can’t help but laugh when she laughs. Her and Bill are both good people. Humble. Thank you Amy for the article and the great clip.
I am comforted knowing that Hillary is Secretary of State. When I see Obama on the learning curve as he flip-flops all over the place, at least there is a responsible, intelligent person representing us internationally. Imagine if the teleprompter was being used on the world stage daily, then having to change its mind (almost daily). Our allies certainly would be confused and nervous. Hillary is there to keep the train on the tracks and educate Obama and keep him and his advisors in check. Sure she supports the President, I hate him, but have to also as long as he’s in power, but that doesn’t mean she is willing to stand aside if he begins to make a huge mistake. She’ll be there to repair the damage or prevent it. I trust her.
Ah, yes, Obama’s Promises.
Well, here’s the latest “promise”, and it’s a doozy! Unfortunately, he will probably get away with it, because people are not paying attention.
Listen up. This is a HUGE issue~
Must Watch–Seriously!–Video of Rachel Maddow on Obama’s radical new plan of “preventive detention”:

And pray tell, what excuse will the Obamatrons come up with on this latest decision?
Oh, wait a minute. He’s playing multi-dimensional chess in these decisions. Or it’s an amazing political manuever that will be “revealed” for its brilliance down the road.
Right. So when we’re sitting with our asses in jail, wondering why or on what charge we’ve been “detained,” we can thank the Obamatrons’ wise choice in leadership.
And the Constitution?? That’s so-o-o-o yesterday.
We’ve entered a new era: the age of the Thought Police.
Be afraid, be very afraid!
Love the comments under the Obama is a dud blog! Yep. My ex was a kool aid drinker and he watched Maddow regularly and went “gay for Olbermann” (the deal breaker BTW). I’m sure he’s having a coronary round about now, if he didn’t after losing much of his retirement. I wish I could feel sorry for the progs, but they were warned and warned that Obama was Bush redux. They didn’t listen. Now they get to live the horror along with the rest of us. At least people like me knew what a disaster this was going to be and aren’t shocked.
It’s very sad and frustrating and just plain hard to take!
OH MY GODDESS - that is STUNNING!!! I cannot believe that, mountainaires!! Just unbelievable - I cannot BELIEVE this man. He is systematically deconstructing our Constitution, and our country. What is amazing is how QUICKLY he is doing this. WOW. (I’m passing your comment along to SusanUnPC, too - this is too important to be missed.)
What bots? They didn’t show up to defend this one on Maddow’s video clip comments.
The comments are revealing, however, on the mood that people are maintaining about Obama. Fraud, pud, and dud are not words that are meant to instill confidence in That One.
He is now sounding like a very loose cannon. There’s a door of opportunity opening very wide for the Republicans and Independents to shorten Obama’s stay to one term. They should take it given this latest round of Obamaisms.
Obama’s agenda is incredibly scary.
WTF where these fools thinking when they voted for the One? That article by Glen Greenwald at Salon is an well reasoned eye opener. I hope the Obots are happy when they realize Habeus is “just words”.
As Greg Craig put it: “hard to imagine Barack Obama as the first President of the United States to introduce a preventive-detention law.”.
and
I see the Hillary bots are out in force today! The hilarious part is anybody who dares defend Obama is called an “Obot” yet look at all these orgasmic comments by Hillary supporters. Replace the name “Hillary” in the comments under this article with “Barack” and you people would be going nuts.
Were you born stupid, was it thrust upon you, or did you achieve it all by yourself? Unlike you slack-jawed, mouth-breathing obamabots, those of us who support HRC know your false Messiah to be a pandering, pontificating, petulant, prevaricating provocateur. We also know you to be just another one of the herd of obamabots who would eat feces and jump off the nearest cliff if That One told you to so do. I may not agree with everything HRC does but she has her reasons. Your idol only has a mouthful of meaningless mush, irrespective of your continuous braying. The manure you post would be better suited for your garden or, better, the sewer.
If you don’t like what we post here, I cordially invite you to take a hike over to HuffnPuffPo, which is down the hall on the extreme left behind the toxic waste bin. You can’t miss it as it is odoriferous, rather like your boorish posts.
Let me correct you on a few points:
1. I am not stupid.
2. I do not believe that President Obama is the Messiah.
3. I would not eat feces and jump off the nearest cliff if President Obama told me to.
4. Barack Obama is not my idol.
Also, I didn’t say I voted for Obama or that I support Obama or that I like Obama. I also did not say anything negative about Hillary Clinton.

(What is “HuffnPuffPo”?)
Change the name to bush, and everyone would go crazy what’s you point? People are biased? Bravo you’ve figured out your first abstract concept, what’s next? How about this, one Obama is a dangerous fool who is driving this country off a cliff. I didn’t vote for clinton because i was her biggest fan, infact I was and have been quite pissed with her as of late and I didn’t like the fact she voted for the war, I thought she was becoming too much of a politician vs a man who no one still knows nothing about except that he’s a dishonest cad whose content of character no one knew anything about and what we did know was unpleasent. Seh was the best choice. So how about running back over to Moveon.org and give George my love. I Can’t believe he has you guys working on a saturday.
You called us Hillary Bots, half-wit. When you start off with ad hominem abusive, you will get it thrown right back at you. If you don’t like being called on your crap, then stop shoveling it. As for you not being stupid, that is a fact not in evidence.
HuffnPuffPo is Huffington Post, where someone of your persuasion belongs.
Dare To Dream I guess your still concerned about the future with a name like that?
At a guess more dreams of yours will be in the gutter soon.
Adiós
There’s a small difference you fail to mention, Dare to Dream. Hillary Clinton has a long record of accomplishment that one can actually track and evaluate. Barack Obama has no such record, except the sort you could write on the back of a postage stamp. And that thin resume is showing in the decisions he’s making right now.
Worship and respect are two different animals. But Obamatrons have never been able see that difference. Too bad, too, because we’re all going to suffer for it.
Hey Naomi…take away O’s teleprompter and just what do you think would come out of his mouth?
…he reads a teleprompter fairly well, if you like watching a tennis match while someone gives a speech…but take that crutch away and this man would be lost…a good frontman/salesman
I have seen Hillary up close at events and that woman does not need a teleprompter or even notes…she has all the facts and info in her head…
…thank god she is at the very least our Secretary of State…
I have to dispell the notion some have that Hillary could have entered the GE as an Indipendent after she partecipated in the primaries as a Dem. She couldn’t.In order to enter the race as I she had to have run in the primaries as one. So when she said she would fight to the end, she kept her word. The end was when she dropped out, there was nowhere for her to go after that. She could, however, enter the primaries inj 2012 as I, provided at that time she has enough support and, most importantly, MONEY…
P.S. I apologize if this point has been made already, I haven’t finished reading the whole thread.Back to reading…
The Right Reverend doesn’t know what she’s talking about. I won’t defend Obama for not doing anything on this agenda. But the fact is that what Hillary just did was take regulatory action that she could have taken on Day One. That she called up just before a hearing where she was going to be embarrassed for not acting, and promised to take action if they would stop the legislation, is not to her credit. It’s to her shame.
Gee, Gomer, she didn’t have anything else to occupy her time, now did she? Nope, she should have made that her A-Number-1 priority and ignore all the brush fires that were in need of immediate attention.
I beg to differ, but YOU don’t know what you are talking about and RRRA is spot on.
Too bad you don’t have any personal knowledge on this. You see, I’m directly affected by the regulation (which, by the way, she still hasn’t signed). She’s been asked to do this for four months. She’s had a memo on her desk from the day she entered the State Department. She said even at her CONFIRMATION HEARING that she was exploring this. All it would have taken was to sign her name. Is that so hard to do? If she’s too busy to sign a piece of paper to deal with the health and safety of the people who support her, what kind of leader is she? This was the easy part. Obama has the hard part of getting laws changed. So if it took her four months to do something she could have done Day One, how long will you give him to do things that are not within his control?
So you wanted your agenda addressed first but had to stand in line behind other, more pressing issues. So let’s get on the next HRC-bashing bandwagon, shall we? Not only do we have partisan trolls polluting this website but now we get agenda-driven trolls wasting our time. Marvelous.
Christ, it isn’t all about you, now is it?
mark, you really have to “reach” for an insult regarding hillary. give it a rest. your comment is not even credible enough to be a joke!
I see my last response didn’t make it to the post.
I guess it was too real for ya, ha No quarter–Moderators? Smile!
I asked this question earlier and think it might be a good thing to ask it again. For those of you who believe that HRC should not have accepted the position of SoS, then who, pray tell, would you prefer in that position? Irrespective of who is running the show (even a shiftless, prevaricating panderer like That One), the cabinet position of SoS is of prime importance and needs to be run by someone who is competent and intelligent. The election did not turn out as I had hoped but the business of interaction between nations continues. Personally, I think we have the best in there now and I am comfortable with her being there.
The sound of crickets is deafening. Those who claim to have our country’s best interests at heart undercut their own claim by commenting how “wrong” it was of her to accept the position of SoS. If one has the best interests of the country at heart and are truly thinking about country before party, then having the very best in each cabinet position is required. I get the distinct impression that those who are criticizing HRC either were never actually for her from the beginning or would rather see our foreign policy fail, to the detriment of the country. I could only imagine who might be occupying that position had HRC not accepted. How would a Bill Richardson or John Kerry work for you?
oh please, so if we are critical of HRC now then we never supported her?? Perhaps we shouldn’t have been supporting her to begin with. If I had known she was going to promote Obama, I wouldn’t have.
And why in the hell would we want foreign policy to fail? That means the country would fail. That’s just plain ignorant. Some people just can’t let go of their Hillary and Bill infatuation.
Wow. You never did answer my question, wodiej, which only tells me that either you don’t have a valid answer, you don’t care, or you never were an HRC supporter in the first place. So I say again, who would be better in the position?
blockquote> Some people just can’t let go of their Hillary and Bill infatuation.
And YOU can’t let go of your hatred of That One. Pot meet kettle. I do trust you won’t get cut with all the broken glass lying about you.
Hillary is doing a great job of being Obama’s SOS.
Hillary is also doing a great job of being Obama’s mouthpiece around the world. Being that its Hillary spouting Obama policy I think it gives more credence to them. She is making Obama and his croonies look better around the world because many still believe in the Clintons.
She has said in several interviews that she works for Obama so its his policies she is working for. Kind of a shame for she has so many great ideas of her own.
But oh well…I think thats why Obama and his croonies cut such a tight deal with her. Neither Bill or Hillary can speak their mind, especially if its anti Obama.
By next election time I dont think many are going to be still looking for her to run for President. I have a feeling many are going to be looking at those who had the least to do with the Obama administration.
Confused I have felt for a while this is her swan song. I just get that feeling.
Hillary is a remarkable woman. I was not very happy when she took the SOS position. I do understand the power she has with it and she is by far the best mouthpiece Obama could have right now.
Yes, she is just validating the Incompetent One. As soon as she is no longer useful, she will be under the bus with the rest. I think she is for the most part done. he won’t have use for her for long. First time she undercuts him.
Docelder I am still wondering why he needed three hundred foreign advisors on the campaigne trail……….was he that ignorant?
