Yesteryear’s NOW: Let’s Take Them On
By SusanUnPC on June 1, 2009 at 12:30 PM in Feminism, Gender Bias, Hillary Clinton, Sexism, Women
I got this announcement — which condemns NOW for letting Hillary down — from Dr. Lynette Long. Dr. Long, a dedicated supporter of Hillary Clinton who campaigned for John McCain in the general election contest, began the great No Quarter radio show on Monday nights. Due to illness, Dr. Long turned over the reins of the radio show to Paulie Abeles. (Yes, Paulie has a great guest coming up tonight. Stay tuned for the promo.)
Lynette Long and Paulie Abeles are heading to Indianapolis on June 19 - June 21 to the annual NOW convention. Kim Gandy’s term as President is over and they are going to help elect a new president. If you would like to help them and you are an active member of the National Organization for Women and you are willing to travel to Indianapolis, please contact Lynette at DrLynetteLong@aol.com.
Both Lynette and Paulie have rented suites and they are each willing to house a few people. NOW let Hillary down. Let’s go help create a change in leadership and start a real women’s movement.

Thanks for the info.
Susan, I am a NOW member and want to clarify here that only NOW members who are a credentialed delegates, which means they are credentialed by a chapter, can vote at the NOW conference. While any NOW member can attend the conference (or even non members) they will not have a vote unless they are credentialed delegates.
Thanks, Susan, Lynette and Paulie,
Can’t make it this time. Best wishes, ladies and women. If Hillary can rise, so can we women of this country. Rise, Women. Rise.
Dr. Lynette Long has done tremendously important work on scientifically documenting the Obama Campaign’s (cheating) modus operandi during the primary. Wish I knew when she plans on writing a book on this, perhaps with Paulie Abeles…dedicated to Hillary…the Truth must be revealed about the teleprompter’s Warmongering Presidency ushered in by a corrupt sexist campaign and complicit misogynist media frat-boys….
I’d buy that book in a minute!
I like Amy Siskind of the NEW AGENDA–a dynamic spokeswoman for the rights of girls and women. Loved her video on girs and domestic violence…and her campaign against the sexist ads at Burger King where the neanderthal president allows this horror to be seen–appealing to male-only clientele…measuring a young girl’s posterior to attract clients! Shame….
I’m still a member of NOW and haven’t been sure why I’ve been hanging on. I exchanged several emails with Kim Gandy over the last year and IMO it’s time for her to leave. She wants to placate the angry members and it’s weakened the whole organization. If I could go, I would do so, but since I can’t I hope nq will give us some reports on what happens there.
Elise, I am a NOW state officer, and I can tell you Kim is NOT trying to appease the Hillary faction of NOW. Far from it. I will be going to Indianapolis in the hopes that there are enough credentialed delegates to vote for the slate that, in my opinion, has NOW’s best interests at heart. If no one else can update NQ readers on what happens, I’ll be happy to do so. Hang in there, Elise. We have a chance to turn this thing around.
I left NOW in June. I don’t miss it a bit. Just exactly how is Gandy trying to appease HRC supporters?
I meant to reply to elise’s post. I wouldn’t think Gandy would care about HRC supporters. I still remember when Nancy Keenan endorsed Barack in Feb of 08. Just what did HRC stand for that Nancy couldn’t abide by? Her pro-reproductive rights record or her feminism?
I thought Gandy campaigned for HRC during the primary?
Thank you, Senneth. Look forward to hearing your report.
I would like to see the US Women’s Movement more active on the World Wide Repression of Women’s Rights.
The stigma of rape and mutilation by soldiers. The sting of a single, angry slap to the face. The suppression of the right to vote or attend school.
In every corner and to varying degrees, injustices against women cast a shadow over efforts to protect human rights.
“It is a far too prevalent scourge in many parts of the world. In fact, in all parts of the world in terms of domestic violence,” said Frederick Jones, spokesman for Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), who plans to reintroduce the International Violence Against Women Act in Congress this year.
One in three females will be beaten, forced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime, according to the United Nations Development Fund for Women. And in some countries, nearly 70 percent of women report brutality that includes dowry violence and genital mutilation.
amNewYork examined some regions of the world and the gender-based injustices that plague them.
Read the whole thing.
I hope some of you will choose do get involved with NOW and coordinate with Paulie and I. If you are a NOW member currently, we would love to hear from you.
I will if we can have you for president of NOW Lynette.
my thoughts and prayers are with you.thank you.
[...] NoQuarter also revealed that Lynette Long and bigot Paulie Abeles will be heading to to the annual NOW convention in Indianapolis on June 19 – June 21. They hate NOW because they committed the crime of supporting a Democratic Candidate for the General Election. (Long campaigned for McLame). They are going to help elect a new President. [...]
This pingback is sooooo full of lies. I’m not going to give that site a hit by clicking on their link. NOW endorsed Barry INSTEAD of Hillary. NOW did not condemn the sexism and misogyny of the MSM, the DNC and Camp Obama!
That is not true. NOW endorsed Hillary but endorsed That One in the GE.
Paulie we love you! You go girl!
Who is it NOW represents? Not me that is for sure. Didn’t they used to have a stated purpose of representing women? Who do they represent now? Some milk toast guy down the street I think. Someone who won’t cause them no trouble. No me that is for sure. They are so yesterday.
I have tried several times to revisit Dr. Long’s site..but for some reason have been denied this because of lack of “authorization”. The site was available before. Does anyone know what the problem is? It was one of the best sites that explained in very clear detail the methods that were used to steal the election from Hillary.
