Palin Can’t Outsmart Letterman

I left a comment telling Ms. Carlson how ridiculous I thought her article was, but they have yet to appear in the comment section at Daily Beast.
I asked her to point out exactly WHERE Letterman apologized. I asked why she felt just because Palin’s children appeared during the primary they are fair game, but yet the Obama daughters are off limits. I decided to expand on her article, and my comments below, since they have yet to appear.

Palin didn’t pick this fight. Letterman dragged her children into this crap when he mentioned them. Did Carlson knock Obama when he picked a fight with FOX news, or Rush Limbaugh? (And he DID pick that fight.)

WHERE?? Where is his apology? I watched the entire video, a few times, and there is NO apology.

But who knew that until the Palins brought this “disgusting” comment so painful to their younger daughter to the attention of the 300 million people not tuned into David Letterman?”
WILLOW knew it was Willow at the game. The media knew it was Willow at the game. How do you think Willow felt hearing about the jokes the next day at school?
“Not that Bristol should have been left at home in the dark, but if you want a “zone of privacy” around your daughter, do you have her appear on stage with her then-fiancé hinting at prospects of a White House wedding waving to the crowd like Charles and Diana of the Klondike?”
Obama’s daughters are given a zone of privacy and they appeared on stage for two years!! They appeared in magazines, on covers, and have been interviewed by the media. I don’t see anyone attacking them.
“Bristol could have been sheltered and given space to rebuild her life, the Palins arranged to send her out like a vaudeville act, traveling the country to talk about teenage pregnancy…”
Are you kidding me? Perhaps as a young unwed mother, who tried to live by her beliefs in abstinence but made a big mistake, wanted to share her story, and educate other young girls on how one mistake can change your whole life. That it isn’t all peaches and cream getting pregnant so young. She was trying to be a good role model, wasn’t she? Because she makes a mistake, one that hundreds of thousands of girls make, she tried to reach out, and share her story. So she deserves to be attacked for it?
Bristol didn’t ask for the publicity in the beginning. Her family was forced to reveal her pregnancy because of the attacks on Trig. She was forced into the spotlight because her mother accepted the VP nomination, wanting to serve her country. She was *outed* because of the ugliness from the media (about Trig’s birth mother) and was then left to try and make the best of a most uncomfortable situation. She was outed because she chose life over having an abortion.

Again, are you KIDDING ME? So she asked for it? She deserved it? Her skirt was too short, so she deserved to be raped…?

The media is the one keeping this feud alive for Sarah Palin. Just watch Matt Lauer’s interview on Today Show. Palin was there to speak about the pipeline in Alaska. But she has every right to be angry about the attacks on her daughters! She gave a lengthy interview, but msnbc only cares about the Letterman controversy.

How did she misinterpret the joke? The joke was about her daughter. EITHER daughter, it doesn’t matter! And her 14 year old was with her. Does anyone give a shit about how Willow might have felt, hearing about the jokes? She was the one THERE.

I can’t believe this whole crap article. Especially since Margaret Carlson, when speaking about Don Imus, and his nappy headed ho comment said that Don Imus disgraced himself. But now, Carlson thinks it is Palin who is disgracing herself…not Letterman.

Bottom line – Letterman DID NOT apologize. He had no right attacking her daughters. Don Imus was fired for insulting college aged women. He was joking, too. They were innocent, did nothing to deserve his comments, and he was fired. Willow and Bristol did nothing to deserve these attacks. But instead of the Left demanding Letterman be fired, they are making excuses for him, and BLAMING the Palins.
The only thing Carlson said that is remotely accurate is that Palin should not be engaged in this fight.
She shouldn’t HAVE to be. Her daughters should not have been dragged into Letterman’s obvious hatred towards Sarah Palin. And men and women everywhere should have jumped to the defense of the Palins, so she didn’t have to.
Letterman says he regrets telling these jokes. Did he apologize for them? No. He denied he attacked Willow, therefore, I guess he has no qualms about attacking an 18 year old. He regrets telling these jokes because people started calling the station and complaining, and threatened to boycott his advertisers.
He doesn’t seem to care that he insulted the Palin’s, and women everywhere.

They can sing this from the highest rooftop but it doesn’t make it true. Palin is “not” the villian in this fracus. Palin defended her daughter and as an extension defended all our daughters. Todd Palin’s comments are those of a protective father. In most circles, that’s considered honorable.

It was a very degrading comment to make about anyone…male or female…adult or child….
It was even more degrading since it was a underage child…..
It became even more degrading when Letterman tried to excuse his actions due to a mistake in which daughter he thought it was.(Age did not make it any better).
No matter who the comment had been directed to age, gender or otherwise…Whether the person was 1 to 99 in age, male or female, it was a VERY degrading comment….

I just can’t understand human nature sometimes, I never will. It’s one thing for some men to be such pigs but when a woman lashes out like that at another woman it blows my mind. When will these newspapers get it that Letterman advocated RAPE which equals VIOLENCE on another, which equals a CRIMINAL ACT.

Comments about Michelle and the Obama girls, if not glorifying them, are quickly labelled “racist” and “hate speech”. Comments about white women, especially conservative white women, are “funny”, and we are “too sensitive-cant’cha-take-a-joke?”
Personally I find those two Obama girls rather creepy — not normal somehow. There is something not normal there. And yes they have been shoved in the public — like that horrid “victory” costume that the Obama family word on election night. It was contrived and staged and evil.
NOW that is a nasty remark — but very tame compared the the crap that has been heaped on the Palin kids. The Palin kids seem happy and are just kids — ordinary real authentic children. I’m sure they get gifts at Christmas and on their birthdays.
This has been a boon for Letterman’s ratings and I think it is no accident that he said what he said about a Palin daughter. It was calculated to get mass media attention. For Letterman it almost did not work because Fox was the only one to carry it at first. Even though it has saved Letterman’s behind against Conant, I think Sara did the right thing in striking back as she did.
But Sarah does need to try to move off the family feud political track. The deranged left is using this strategy to attack her and keep her off focus.

I say let Carlson and her ilk at it. The more they defend this kind of vile attack on women and children, the more they expose the rampant hypocrisy that pervades their “sophisticated” political world. There are a lot of decent people who fell for the “hope and change” of Obama, and if his policies and lack of a moral compass don’t make them see the error of their ways, perhaps the likes of Carlson will help them along. We can only hope…..
I hope Carlson and Letterman become the symbols of the Obama liberal elitist Democratic Party.

Thank you so much for this. Words fail. I’m reading this for the second time. I used to watch Carlson on the McNeal/Leahr News hour (way back when) and think she was a thoughtful, intelligent journalist. Wow.
I might make the point that IMUS lost his job over a comment about black women basketball players, calling them “headed hos.”
But the Obama supporters and the likes of Letterman can say any crude and disgusting thing about Sarah Palin, Hillary Clinton, or worst of all Sarah Palin’s children.
To even think implying sex with a child or young woman is humor and acceptable is the crudest of insult to women in general.
We have to apply dicipline and offense uniformly. If you can’t say nigger or nappy headed ho, you can’t say cunt or imply it is funny to “knock up” a teen aged child.
The time for human dignity for women is long past and as a mother I demand the same respect given to fathers.
Without women there would be no society.
This has to stop and women must be the first to stop hurting other women.

As a woman, the worst critic are women themselves, they’re putting down their own sisters to endear with men, to be acceptable. What Carlson said is not out of the ordinary, many women are like her. There are women who hates other women, would do anything in the world to hate another woman and literally pushing that person to commit suicide. Last year I’ve attended women’s meeting supporting Hillary. When Obama sealed his nomination; we had another meeting. When some of us told them we cannot support Obama, we were called stupid bitch, slut, cunt etc etc. I was horrified, we were all Democrats and were called all kinds of names by fellow Democrats. We were told to toe the party line if we want to remain friends with them and acceptable to the organization. Ten of us walked out of the meeting, but before we did that, we tore our membership cards infront of them.
It may be hard for a lot of you to accept, but women democrats are very hateful group of women.
