Obama’s promise of a new beginning now hollow

The Republicans have been so busy trying to paint President Obama as a socialist, as a radical, as a Marxist, as a Muslim, as the Devil, that they haven’t even noticed that he has become one of them.

Oh, he can still talk the talk and he does that incessantly. But he seemingly can’t walk the walk. He may still sound like a revolutionary but more and more he looks and acts like George W. Bush, albeit a George W. Bush who can speak a complete sentence in the English language.

“Hey, I like the guy! He’s doing all the same things as me, even being advised by Brennen and Hayden, two guys I put in place. Hey, I love the way he’s using deficits to keep his political numbers good; who cares about deficits; everyone knows you can massage the numbers to say whatever you want. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so I feel flattered every damn day by Obama, because you can’t tell the difference between the two of us on policy!”

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is morphing into George W. Bush, as administration attorneys repeatedly adopt the executive-authority and national-security rationales that their Republican predecessors preferred.

In courtroom battles and freedom-of-information fights from Washington, D.C., to California, Obama’s legal arguments repeatedly mirror Bush’s: White House turf is to be protected, secrets must be retained and dire warnings are wielded as weapons.

But we can only hope that fathers and spouses everywhere will be thinking “What Would Obama Do?” as they navigate through the murky waters of parenthood and family life.

Well….under Obama’s watch, a record number of fathers (and mothers) everywhere have been blessedly relieved from that pesky thing called a job, so navigating those murky waters just got so much easier! Thanks Dad, you’re swell!

I think President Obama does for his family what most loving people do for their spouses and children. It’s disgusting how just because he does it, it’s supposedly something new and cool. Which is totally a diss to previous Presidents who had loving relationships with their wives and children and to the millions of everyday fathers out there who truly sacrifice to give their families the best they can.

This is bound to replace the stodgy old has-been question: “What would Jesus do?” as well as the less used but more pragmatic query, “What would Machiavelli do?”

The president compliments Michelle in public and does not have to be begged to hit the dance floor. The president took many opportunities during his speeches on the campaign trail to praise Michelle. And who could deny he cut a rug at all those inauguration parties?

– The president invited his mother-in-law to move in with his family. While there were ample incentives for Marian Robinson’s move into the White House for all parties involved, proffering such an invitation could be the holy grail of a husband’s commitment.

So today I’m going to dinner with my second husband. And like most women my age have had a number of lovers and relationships so I have a pretty good radar for heterosexual men.

I have never seen such a detailed list of bisexual qualities for a man in all my life. Way to go SFgate!
