I think the military has sensed the surrender in this administration and no longer care.
I think the lure of opium, Hash and easy alcohol has and will destroy the troops there like it did to the troops of the late Vietnam war.
I believe Obama knows but wishes a catastrophic defeat of US forces in Afganistan much like what happen in Vietnam.
The democrats hate the military and will destroy it in the field to score political points.
My view is we pull our troops out NOW before the disaster being planned for them actually occures.

Obama’s campaign often called Bush a “WARMONGER” and everyone was happy to at last find in Obamama a man who was unafraid to stop the posturing internationally and go for peace, love, etc., and healtchare for everyone! Right?

Well, his budget deficit is 1.2 trillion dollars this year and his military defense budget takes up HALF of this budget at $655B. Why won’t he devote half the budget deficit to instaling a HealthCare plan COVERING EVERYONE rather than the corrupt insurance’s profits?

Why is Canada spending 3,400 dollars per capita and U.S. with no universal single-payer plan pays $6,710.00 and double the GDP percentage!? Obama lied about his war ambitions. He lied about everything. Biggest flip flopper to inhabit the White House–ever.

McCain and HIllary Clinton did NOT make the Afganistan war a key campaign promise! Now, Obama’s heading to a new VIETNAM IN AFGANISTAN!

This will be the Obama War of Disaster that will further bankrupt his presidency–morally and financially.

Palin was right: A community organizer was no ‘experience qualification’ for the top job. It can never be. He thought he could push HIllary off the stage like he did Alice Palmer. But he hasn’t. He’s only dug himself into his own grave of incompetence and cowardice.

In Journalism to spin the facts to make a point is called slanting. Most of the comments on what Larry has written sound like they are being made by students who are only in the classroom because they have to be, and not want to be. (With several exceptions. AND: I, too, truly dislike the punks who will say anything to defend Obama.) UNDERMANNED is not a concept that needs defining. Feet on the ground means having someone to ‘watch your back’. All this other static is just that. We are fighting a war. Period. That should be obvious. If we have troops in ‘harms way’ they should have support, material, and reserves for relief, and for those occasions when a ‘push’ or other tactical maneuver is used. Like many, though, I keep wondering what the overall strategy of this effort really is. Just to take potshots at the enemy and not wage ‘total war’ with the enemy seems an exercise in self-posturing, and delusion about the outcome. Winning, defined by controlling the country, would appear the better alternative to playing catch-up in a game where the Taliban, or whatever the enemy is called, turns the populace against us with agit-prop tactics. If we are trying to re-stage Viet Nam, letting politicians use the war for momentary political gains is a sure fire plan.

This topic is way over my rank except as a concerned citizen, mother, grandmom and grandaunt. My young
grandnephew signed up for the U.S. Marines and will
take up the responsibilities of protecting our shores–right out of highschool; he leaves next month to begin training. We couldn’t talk him out of it. I suppose he garnered some romantic vision via
TV or video games–where the good guys generally win.

That gives me a vested interest beyond mere dabbling
in chat. But I have done some homework online and
consider myself a pretty astute student of human nature and world history. My opinion is that his life will be put in the mix and if he fails to
return from Afghanistan (that’s an educated guess),
we can chalk it up to service to country. He is
an only child; his parents and extended family will not see it in those truncated terms.

It is Independence Day, 2009. Therefore, I feel
a moral obligation to post this very unsettling
link to a very disturbing video. The film is about
1:25 long. If the link will not come up, then
Google the tags: “Families for 9/11 Truth video at
Google.” You will see the first entry is accompanied by a picture of a red rose–the symbol of love and devotion. I think we owe that much to those we lost

The part that ties in with this thread comes up toward the end of the film; the U.S. gov and Pakistani security forces flew out hundreds of
Taliban and Osama Bin Laden insurgents just after
the Tora Bora battle to safe camps across the border.

Those men are now killing our troops in that war-torn area. Need I belabor the point?

Great post Larry. And that’s coming from someone who doesn’t think we should be at war in Afghanistan. It is only creating more enemies and hurting and costing more unneccessarily.

But, I do know, if Obama is going to be conducting “his right war“, he had better run it properly. And he isn’t.

Obama is again acting like Bush. The inexperienced playing leader thinking he can go to war with a small contingency so it doesn’t look as bad. While John McCain is becoming more the smart leader with his surge that he demanded long ago finally happening and that being the exact medicine Iraq needed to stop the surge in violence. I almost feel foolish on that one that I just parroted “no surge” because I was against the war.

Well Obama, this is your war. And being you want war, you are conducting it really stupidly and recklessly as only you would do.

Pull out and man up. Personally, you should pull out and use INTELLIGENCE to try to stop terrorism. You can not bomb your way out of this. But we see you don’t learn, so go ahead and kill, maim innocents while putting our men at greater risk for your “right war”.

Wow! It takes a REAL man (”man”) to attack a person for not being “manly enough” when he has offered a perfectly legitimate perspective. Does Larry Johnson have connections? Sure. Are they likely to be birds of a feather? Sure, they are. My own take on the reason for changing generals was that Obama wasn’t satisfied with the product. It isn’t an illogical argument to say that no general could have succeeded in Afghanistan given the circumstances that shrub Bush created but it also makes sense to start fresh and the guy picked, criticized by many liberals for his apparent connections to torture isn’t any wimp, for sure. John’s comment makes sense. We are going to lose soldiers in a war. To put that on Obama….well, that would be Larry Johnson and his admiration for “Barry.” To call it disingenuous is being kind.
