Finally Comeuppance For “Faux” Journalists?
By Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy on July 5, 2009 at 3:01 PM in Andrew Sullivan, Barack Obama, Current Affairs, Hillary Clinton, Media Handling of Story, Media, Print, Media, Television, Universal Health Care
Well, everyone on the planet knows about Sarah Palin’s resignation by now. She has her reasons, of course, whether one agrees with them or not. I would say that if my children were continually being hammered in the press, with my Down’s Syndrome baby bearing the brunt of the cruel humor, I might be a bit inclined to get out, too. Add to that having to spend enormous amounts of time and money dealing with frivolous ethics complaints (talking to YOU, Obamabots), and the woman can scarcely do her job.
In other words, Sarah Palin is damned if she does, and damned if she doesn’t. If she stays, and continues to deal with all of these ridiculous complaints, eating up time better spent dealing with issues facing Alaska and its citizens, she gets slammed for not doing the work of Alaskans, wasting taxpayers’ money, and on and on. If she doesn’t deal with it, then she is ethically challenged, has “abused her power,” is a poor representative of Alaska, and on and on. Her work environment has been made untenable by these ridiculous challenges, as each one has to be addressed. I can only imagine the mounting level of frustration for her. Oh, and many of those complaints have been dismissed already, further highlighting that they are being used solely to harass her.
And then’s there’s her family, and how they have been treated. Fellow NQ writer, LisaB, had an EXCELLENT article on this recently, “Andrew Sullivan’s Reckless Cruelty to “White Trash Concupiscence.” There is no need for me to re-state what LisaB already did so well, except to highlight this point regarding Palin’s daughter, Bristol, getting pregnant at 17: so did Obama’s mother. So EVERYTHING nasty you say about this young woman, you are saying about Stanley Ann Dunham.
Once again, while I do not agree with many of her policy positions, she has every right to HOLD those positions. This is a (more or less) free country, after all.
Okay, all of that being said, this is the portion of the article, Palin Links Resignation to ‘Higher Calling’, on which I want to focus. There is MUCH more in this article, so feel free to take a look. But THIS is what I wish Al Gore had done when he was being portrayed as a liar and as delusional by many Republicans (and Democrats who repeated the intentionally manipulated statements Gore did make on the internet, the Love Canal, and “Love Story”):
The abruptness of her announcement and the mystery surrounding her plans have fed widespread speculation. But Palin attorney Thomas Van Flein on Saturday warned legal action may be taken against bloggers and publications that reprint what he calls fraudulent claims.“To the extent several websites, most notably liberal Alaska blogger Shannyn Moore, are now claiming as ‘fact’ that Governor Palin resigned because she is ‘under federal investigation’ for embezzlement or other criminal wrongdoing, we will be exploring legal options this week to address such defamation,” Van Flein said in a statement. “This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law.”
He also told the Anchorage Daily News that Palin wasn’t in any criminal legal jeopardy.
“I can say definitively I am aware of no criminal investigation whatsoever involving Sarah Palin. Zero,” he said.
The FBI reiterated that claim Saturday, telling the Los Angeles Times for a story Sunday that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was not investigating Palin’s activities as governor, a former mayor or in any other capacity.
“There is absolutely no truth to those rumors that we’re investigating her or getting ready to indict her,” Special Agent Eric Gonzalez, the bureau’s Alaska spokesman, said.
Oh, SNAP!!!! See, that’s how these people SHOULD be treated. Al Gore AND Hillary Clinton could have taken some pages from these people’s playbook, though it seemed when Clinton DID try to clarify the record, they just made fun of her for it (like the whole insurance flyer thing - remember that? Obama claimed her outrage was “tactical.” It couldn’t possibly be that she was well and truly pissed off because of how he was portraying her.). Same with Gore, come to think of it - it seemed whenever he tried to point out what he ACTUALLY said, they just made fun of him even more. I think both of these folks can understand the whole “damned if they do” mentality that surrounds Palin …
If journalists, whether for MSM outlets or blogs like this one, purposely print false statements about prominent people, they should be held to account. I hasten to add, if the statements were made in good faith, and were just wrong, the opportunity should be available to print retractions (though I think we all know what happens then - people never remember the retraction, just the initial accusation). But I say, GOOD ON PALIN’S ATTORNEY for making it crystal clear that no more of these false accusations that slander the governor will be tolerated. About damn time, too, I’d say. The character assassination on her (and too many others) went over the top long ago.
It is way past time for journalists to return to FACT CHECKING their statements before making them, to stop rumor mongering (or flat out making shit up), and REPORT events. We don’t want your OPINIONS of why Palin resigned, just the news THAT she resigned. Think you can do that? If not, meet Palin’s attorney. I’m sure you’ll get to know him well (and may be then YOU can experience what it is like to try and work while dealing with a lawsuit, only in YOUR case, it will be deserved). Bottom line, right on, Mr. Van Flein!

Well done, RRRA.
Perhaps thinner wallets will help these “pundits” think more clearly prior to making outrageous claims since being caught with their knickers down on more than one occasion hasn’t.
Very well said! Agree with you 100%!
Oh how I do want to see the lawsuits fly! Of course the disgusting little turd bloggers will scream First Amemdnment rights.
Thanks for this post. I watched one of those talk show this morning and some woman said that if Sarah quit because of the press she should look at what Hillary went through and get used to it. She said this treatment is a fact of life for women seeking public office.
I was outraged, I am an American citizen and no one who wants to honestly try and gain my support in a run for public office needs to “get used to their trash talk” I want to put my foot down I just don’t know where to stamp it.
And it was so obvious that all they were trying to do was put a tomb stone on top of Sarah’s dreams. I wish they would start selling yard signs, maybe I’ll make one of my own.
Some woman whose job it is to report news from the WH said the Obama administration reaction to Sarah’s announcement was “amusement” - I bet.
Betty — do you remember which show you were watching — got a link by any chance — I’d like to check this out. Thanks.
I don’t usually watch these programs, I just walked into the room while my brother was watching. It was two programs. Cynthia Tucker, I think was the woman who said Sarah Palin needs to get used to it. Jennifer (someone?) was the white house correspondent who said the Obama administration was amused.
I went to the web sites of both these shows and can’t find the exact spots. I also watched a short part of the program that had Donna Brazile on.
Sorry I am not much help.
From what I gather, it was George S.’s show. Figures. I haven’t looked for a video yet, though, Ani…
Thanks. That Cynthia is really amazing — snark. One month ago she talked about how we live in a post feminist world — on his very program. Unbelievable.
Sarah Palin, plain and earthy continues to confound those DC types because she does not act according to what they are used to. I think her strategy of talking directly to the people will be effective. It’s a style she is good at. The base of the Republican party get the feeling that she is really “of the people” and “for the people.” She might just win the GOP nomination.
Ask Dan Rather about the perils of disseminating fraud and fiction as fact.
You are correct. However, to his credit, he did apologize for not having done his homework. I have yet to see any sort of contrition on the part of the current crop of “journalists”. And we certainly never got one from that idiot
choppersRobert Novak, either, for outing Plame. If memory serves, Ferd, the facts of the case were accurate, as Rather reported them abt Bush in the Air National Guard, but the actual documents were suspect. Should he have authenticated them? Absolutely!
The same way no reputable journalist should have accepted a photocopied birth certificate from an organization that had ties to Obama (factchecker.org is part of Annenberg, for which Obama served on the board of the Chicago Challenge). Or should have accepted that Obama’s transcripts were off limits, and I could go on…
The point with Rather was that he wanted it to be true so badly that he grasped at a forgery instead of doing thorough investigative reporting. That was what pushed him over into the zealot camp and made him an unreliable journalist for me. But what we are seeing with Palin is something far beyond what Rather did. This foaming at the mouth, vindictive insult-fest has nothing to do with a scoop or journalism and everything to do with sick, sick people.
I recall it was an intentional forgery; it said what the original said so that it could be called a forgery.
The woman who typed up the original stated the exact same facts.
The reason that I brought up Rather was to provide an event that is a good contrast to the Palin Situation. Rather paid dearly not only for being journalistically lazy, but also for being part of an engineered distortion campaign. It was very similar to the kind of antics that are now hailing down on Palin. The big difference between the two situations is the way that those responsible for the defamation are being treated.
Rather is kind of an old school gentleman. He realized his mistake and his role in the attempted smear, and apologized. He was man enough to take his lumps, and although he never admitted it, I’m sure he realized how badly he erred by crafting the news instead of accurately reporting it.
I see no contrition, guilt, or regret from the army of miscreants that have assaulted Palin and her family. And since the endless attacks have come from such a broad based leftist faction of rabid dogs, nothing short of a monumental class action apology will have much of an effect. It is an ominous sign of our times that so many people can celebrate without any shame, the humiliating ridicule and destruction of a good woman and her family. Add to the situation the disgusting and devilishly cruel official reaction to Palin’s resignation by the Obama syndicate (they are “amused”), and it becomes clear that our society may have abandoned the basics of empathy and decency. I’m deeply ashamed of the direction my beloved country is taking by following the lead of a pathologically disturbed and hateful president.
That’s so good it had to be posted again!
Amen - excellent point, Texas Mirth!!
You are spot on–Bush really didn’t serve in the same way I did (or millions of others, for that matter. But Rather did not do the legwork necessary to either validate or invalidate the documents associated with his service or lack thereof. When the nature of the documents was clear, he did the honorable thing and apologized. He also lost his job, which was appropriate.
What surprises me is that there are many “journalists” out there who published all kinds of absolute rubbish against the Clintons and were never taken to task for those statements, e.g., Vince Foster, which comes immediately to mind.
I’m shocked, shocked, I say, to hear that the Press is not performing their function in a manner befitting the profession. I mean, really. I am not surprised at the modus operandi of the Press nowadays as they’ve been allowed, with the exception of Rather, to publish this sort of crap for the past 17+ years with little or no push-back from the public. Bad journalism is bad journalism, irrespective of target. To expect them to behave as a real Press now is a little late in the game. The American public bears part of the blame and until we collectively accept our part and demand honest news, this sort of hack, gotcha journalism will continue.
The peevish Spaminator did it again. Can someone rescue it from the recycle bin?
Well said! I was watching pretty boy Anderson Cooper yesterday while he was interviewing a woman who is Palin’s spokesperson (can’t remember her name). He was trying to point out that Palin shouldn’t have resigned. The woman was pointing out that Sarah felt like she was showing leadership by getting out and allowing her Lt. Gov take over because she was having to spend so much time on these frivilous charges, etc. and he said “but, but that’s not leadership!” I sat there for a minute, then screamed at the TV “and YOU’RE not a reporter because a REPORTER or JOURNALIST would never have made that statement! That’s YOUR opinion and you should never state your opinion!” These guys have crossed the line. Their job is to just REPORT THE NEWS - not their personal opinions! I don’t know what they’re teaching in journalism schools these days, but it’s not that! It makes me SICK! I hadn’t watched CNN since the primaries and just happened to land on it while channel surfing. No more - off limits again. What a jerk!
More people need to boycott CNN and FOX and all the rest of the non-news crap.
That is the only way these jerks will get the message.
ONLY watch the real journalists — if you must listen/watch talking heads.
BE SMART GET THE NEWS HERE.I DO…
Indeed. If he wanted to inject his two-cents worth, it should be called political commentary and not objective journalism. These agenda-driven mouthpieces continue to blur what once was a distinct line between journalism and the reporting of the news and editorializing and the subjective opinion concerning the news. The two cannot be combined without creating media bias and subsequent distortion.
Objective Journalism ( the one we understood as the Fourth Estate) is dead my friend….
It is dead and that is much to our detriment, Andy. Abuses by the government were at one time monitored and exposed by the free Press. Now they are involved in the abuses, by proxy. Their credibility is zero, in my book.
The question mark after a statement is the fact killer on all of the supposed news networks.
It’s one of three things:
1. They don’t actually know what the news is
2. We are supposed to go out and find the news
3. They are making it all up
I think it’s most likely #3.
Wow, the press is just terrible lately.
What is Mr. Cooper thinking? I am with RRRA, stop making shit up and stop feeding Americans opinions as news.
That said, I am also pretty disappointed that more Americans aren’t outraged over the state of our press.
Nonsense! It’s the reporters job to call out these people on their BS (such as the absurd claim that Palin quitting her job as Governor is somehow “leadership.”) The problem is that they don’t do it often enough.
Well said, Amy. I read about the FBI statement over on Liberal Rapture and immediately thought of all the gleeful troll posts yesterday insinuating Federal charges were about to fall on Palin’s head.
I don’t think any of this has been done in good faith, anymore than the Republican charges against Bill Clinton from day 1 were honest in nature. Remember Whitewater, Travelgate, Vince Foster, etc., ect? The charges went on ad infinitum. Sadly, Clinton provided the ammunition at the end.
This is all about destroying the opposition in any which way you can. Regardless of whether the charges are true, partly true or utterly manufactured, the strategy is to keep slinging the mud, hope something has traction and then milk it. And if anyone complains, the accusers will say: but just look at the “pattern” of charges. It’s all about conjuring doubt about a candidate’s veracity and character.
But even more offensive to many of us is the raw and ugly sexism added to the mix with the attacks on Hillary and Sarah Palin. I’m with you–I don’t support many of Palin’s political leanings. But I asolutely hate what so-called “liberal” Dems have done and are doing now.
I think a backlash is swelling in the country. The Progs may get their own worst nightmare with this hateful nonsense.
We have had months of newsrooms and panel-discussions that amounted to circle-jerks with the handsome tingle-inducing figure of Thee One at the center. Sometimes these masturbatory celebrations focussed on, at first, whipping Hillary Clinton, and later, on abusing Sarah Palin and her children. After the adolescent celebrations, self-congratulatory high-fives all around the MSM, and sophisticated urbane camaraderie at cocktail parties. Party on, oh intellectual ones.
Hurricane season is coming.
Yep–Fratboys on parade in Obamaland. When did drunken disorderly douchebags become all the rage?
Yes Ferd–the MSM has been like one big fraternity devoted to 1) celebrating the glory of Thee One, and 2) demeaning the two women (and their families!) who dared detract from the celebration of His Beatitude. That some “intellectual” women like McDooDoo have chosen to join the fratparty is particularly disgusting.
Spot on, Peggy Sue. The sexism is a HUGE piece of it, and the sheer glee with which these people attack women who have made something of themselves, while claiming to be supportive of women is emetic.
Listing starboard, well said…
An unchallenged lie is percieved to be the truth. We are in a battle to save our country, Palin knows it. Governement no longer works for the citizens of this country, government views us as revenue for its own gain.
Sarah Palin now knows all the major players in the media. After July 26, she has complete control over media access to her i.e., who gets to interview her one-on-one. When her book is out, that should be another round of campaigning for her.
I had another spam gobble, Amy. Sending an e-mail now.
Thanks once again, R3 Amy. It sure helps to have a sane member of We the People report the news for us and then mention a well studied response.
Anderson Cooper is a misogynist, along with so many male and female misogynists in the fake media. He and his ilk have stomped the Fourth Estate into the ground–for now.
Keep Going.
Hillary 2012 or better (if there is such a person).
Go for it Sarah! Nail all those little Goebbels!
PUMA UNA W00T!!
Proud to be on Team Sarah!
Last year, Sarah had the testicular fortitude to poke fun at Obama on national TV at a time when no one else would. Not Hillary Clinton. Not even John McCain.
The fools on The Hill continue to lockstep the Ogenda through. Sarah currently is my only hope. No matter what she chooses to do, she’ll likely be able to provide some counter-balance to the insane, maniacal, lemming-like behavior of nearly all the rest.
I love this site. Just love it.
Right on RRR Amy, well said !! Excellent post. I loved it.
Y’all are too kind. Thanks for the good comments, as always.
I would love to know who was trash-talking Palin on Fox this morning. And how sad - they were one of the few that actually did NOT trash women like Clinton and Palin on a regular basis. How do I say this? That sucks…
I freely admit that my opinions are just that - opinions. I base them on facts, of course. But when you have people who literally just make stuff up to say abt people like Clinton or Palin, and claim them to be FACT, well, I believe we have a process for dealing with that.
Too many have accepted that as “politics as usual,” but frankly, it diminishes all of us. It means the people do not have the best, most accurate information on which to make decisions; it diminishes the person abt whom the lies are told, especially in a culture in which people standing up for themselves are portrayed by the media as weak; and it diminishes our discourse in general when lying abt people is treated as perfectly acceptable - one wins at all/any costs. It is a sad commentary…
So, yes, I am thrilled that Palin is not going to tolerate people flat out lying abt her, and will give them a taste of their own medicine - having to pay their own money to settle lawsuits.
RRRAmy, I believe the trash-talking woman’s name was Liz Trotta. Here’s a link to the video: http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2009/07/gop-palin-basher-liz-trotta-palin-is.html
.
Good catch, Just_Saying. From the article above, there is also an Alaskan blogger who is busy making up lies abt Palin’s impending legal trouble, which the FBI said is blatantly false. That takes some nerve, doesn’t it?
Thanks for the link!!
Like I said, it s WAY past time for these people to be held accountable for their lies and smears. I understand why people like Gore and Clinton didn’t take legal action - they wanted to keep working within the Dem. framework (though the DNC/Obama does not deserve Clinton - either one of them), so they didn’t go that route. But maybe, just maybe, people will think a second before posting some of these ridiculous charges (again, LisaB’s article on Andrew Sullivan’s attacks on Palin spring to mind).
A day of reckoning sure would be nice…
Rev Amy, too bad the Republican Party will not have Sarah Palin’s back any more than the Democratic Party had Hillary’s. The leadership of the GOP never mentions her name when speaking of possible nominees in 2012.
She has friends ( Gretta, Hannity and a few others ), but that will not be enough. The money people and the leadership will never support her. They don’t have the guts and they will not see it as in their best interest to nominate someone not within their circle of influence or like-minded.
Like you, I disagree with some of her ideology and, like you, the attacks against her and her family have made me furious. As a long time supporter of Hillary Clinton, I feel sad for those here at NQ who don’t yet understand because I know how it can/will break their hearts.
The appearance over the weekend of so many bots is only a small part of what will be said and done if she has the temerity to throw her hat into the ring for 2012. Hillary said at the beginning of her campaign it would get ugly, but we had no idea the source would be the DNC and other Dems.
IMO the press, including FOX, is irretrievably lost to the American people. They all have agendas which don’t include relating the unbiased and complete truth to us.There is the Internet, but really, what percentage of the population blogs and what percentage of bloggers do their own research?
The “Tea Parties” seemed a spontaneous, sincere expression of outrage, but it didn’t take long for the Republicans and FOX to claim it as it’s own which destroyed the integrity of the movement. The organizers tried to keep politicians out of it, but they intruded.
What can we do? How can we re-gain control? I see political parties as the enemy of the people, but they control our very lives and we have been so well indoctrinated to party politics, it’s hard to change the mindset.
they had tea parites in texas this weekend and coryn was booed. so there is hope!
I’m glad to hear that, stodgie. The further the Tea Parties are removed from political parties, the more effective they will be.
just saying, i listened as long as i could without throwing a shoe at my computer. what program was that on fox. i’d like to send them an email with my views.
My previous comment was eaten by Monster Spam….
Adm, thank you for rescuing it. I see it above now.
Sarah Palin resigning..
Brilliant strategy!
This woman has moxie and is going to impress us all as she slays all her opponents and make us relish with joy in how she will go about humiliating all those who dared trash her.
Mere Men like Letterman will be exposed and laid to waste..
An attack on Sarah is an attack on me!!!!!
Now everybody repeat and pass it along….
I think Sarah Palin would be a bad President. This has nothing to do with you. Is every attack on Obama an attack on every black person? Of course not! Is every attack on Palin an attack on every woman? Of course not!
rk, bullshit! that has to be the stupidest comment on here in a long time. congrats! you had a lot of competition but you stayed in there showing your butt!
Thank you for your insightful and sensitive post on this topic.. I just informed FOX that I would not be watching or listening to them for a LONG time. The MSM has been off my radar for such a long time that I forgot they ever existed and so has CNN, MSNBC and othe cable news stations. I don’t blame her for resigning. I don’t know where to get NEWS acurate and pure anymore. Everyone wants to give their unwanted and unrequested thoughts on any subject. I don’t know if we will ever again have real journalist . That is a very sad state of affiars.
Thank you for the insightful post, Rev Amy.
I believe Palin has just made a strategic move that puts her in a strong position for a good fight. She now has no phony ethics charges to answer too and she’s not on the taxpayer dime. She’s taken control and declared her independence. She now answers to nobody but herself. Sarah Palin has gone rogue. Powerful, powerful position for a woman to put herself in.
You betcha!
And, btw, who was that shrew on Fox this morning acting like the faux MoDo? I never thought I’d hear someone on Fox be turned loose to eviscerate Sarah. Not that I expect bias but I did expect fairness.
May have to wait until Hannity gets back. Even Rove seems befuddled by her actions…That’s saying something when you can stump Carl.
The times, they certainly are a changin’.
Ms. Trotta was carrying on like her opinion should be meaningful to me.
Very light on facts, very heavy on hyperbole (that she seems to believe) such as “Palin hasn’t accomplished anything” and only “gets ahead because of her looks and gender”. Really. Pretty much verbatim.
Do better, Palin haters. Liz Trotta was fail.
Add histrionics and hyperventilating and you have accurate alliteration, as well.
I noticed too that she was reiterating yesterday’s news as though the so-called “criminal indictments” hadn’t been disavowed by the FBI. Pushing the disinformation on and on. Gee, can she get a letter from the lawyers too?
“she only gets ahead because of her looks and gender”–
HS girl 1: You know, she only gets good grades because she’s pretty.
HS girl 2: For sure. And I hear she puts out. What a slut!
(Okay, I know my jargon is timewarped in the 1950’s, but catty hyperbull hasn’t changed much, has it?)
LMAO. You got her dead to rights. Some things never change.
Then there’s the old gainsaying, used by so many supporters:
Commenter: Obama failed to live up to his promises.
Bot: Did not!
Commenter: But Obama did not do the things he promised he would do.
Bot: Did so!
LOL–Sounds something like Pee Wee Herman arguing in Pee Wee’s Great Adventure: “I know you are, but what am I?” Or, the ultimate retort: “I’m rubber, you’re glue, bounces off me and sticks to you!”
Wow–Those bring back school-yard memories.
I heard Trotta on FOX bashing Palin. She actually said that Palin had “no credentials for ANY job.”
I backed up my DVR and listened again to make sure I heard Trotta correctly. That is such an appalling statement. I still cannot believe anyone would be so arrogant as to presume another has no credentials for any job. Trotta has no credentials for reliable remarks after that comment.
the media and jokesters went too far, they ticked
off the MAMA GRIZZLEY one too many times.
if i were them i would be a mite scared.
Sue the bastards!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHA
Re: The “news” person that Palin just had to get used to the trashing:
Af. Americans should just get used to racial remarks?
That’s off limits. Gays should be more resilient and just take it? That’s a lot off limits (but not enough).
I am so disgusted I cannot even read one more Palin trashing article. I hope she takes the “news” people to the cleaners.
I am with Seattle, I am Sarah and I am sick of this S–T! Everyone and anyone who is not a Obamanot is labeled as stupid, old, retarded, ignorant, etc. I do not agree with Sarah 100%, but I agree 100% that she has every right to hold her own views. This abuse from the far left is repulsive. I once was in a similar situation albeit on a much smaller scale. We decided as a family and as a team not to let the bastards take it all and decided to step back from further litigation. It at first was perceived as weakness on our part not to fight the fight their way, however, the family motto is “Don’t get mad, don’t get even, get ahead” and that’s what we did. We are now rid of those maggots and on a new path but still headed to the same successful goal.
Sarah asked those of us who believe in her to trust her on this. I have a feeling we are going to be pleasantly surprised!
Yes, we recall the label “senile” — as applied in Inspector General Gerald Walprin’s firing. And the press happily complied the the Obama Administration to slander Walprin, too. There ought to be a class action suit against the media from all their victims.
Why should anyone running for office or the American people have to ” get used to ” no class and low class even when it is called journalism?
Stenos repeat Journalists report. Today we have stenos not journalists so why should the be protected under the free speech laws?
Whether you agree with someones politics or not their children and families should not have to tolerate lies about them. They should not have to ” get used to it”.
I hope Governor Palin sues the pants off them and they have to figure away to pay the lawyer fees while being a steno in the public arena.
WOMAN WITH INTELLIGENCE AND EXPERIENCE,MEN WHO SUPPORT THEM AND COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY ALWAYS
PUMAS,BUBBAS,EQUALISTS AND THOSE PEOPLE RULE
Just wanted to add that hubby just watched NBC evening news and I overheard Andrea Mitchell doing a “news” piece on Sarah: she never once used the word “resigned” or “stepped down”; it was “quit” quitting” all the way. And no wonder: she must be mighty pissed that she had to “quit” her 4th of July golf playing in Martha’s Vineyard or some such place to fly to…Wasilla! Priceless Sarah!
Andrea Mitchell is such a tool, gold-plated and guaranteed never to rust.
Anything she says, I immediately am suspicious.
mitchell and that husband of hers need to take a very slow boat to china.
Right on, Rev. Amy. Thanks for this story. I am glad Palin’s attorney has made this statement.
From whom should Palin seek redress for this behavior? Talk about harassment and “creating a hostile work environment” — this is clearly a witch hunt, and it has nothing whatsoever to do with her politics. Certain corners just wish to take this woman down because THEY view her as a populist threat, whether she actually is one or not. To slander her family, her children like this is grotesque. Kids are off limits for any politician –not just her. What do you think would happen if someone went after Pr. Obama’s kids like this? I shudder to think. Trig is a baby for crying out loud.
It also looks as though these ethics complaints, most of which have already been dismissed, are likewise nonsense.
This really is depressing. Reminds me of everything Annie Oakley went through to clear her name — but in the end she was victorious. It will be interesting to see how this plays out over time.
RRRA–Thank you for reminding us that Sarah Palin HAS A RIGHT TO HOLD THOSE POSITIONS — my gosh, what has happened to our country when opposing views make it open season for character assassination and ridicule of family members including a Down’s Syndrome infant?
Not to mention all the frivolous lawsuits designed to eat up her time, her money (and Alaska’s) while destroying her reputation — I saw Liz Trotter today on FOX and was appalled at her remarks. I haven’t read the Vanity Fair piece or Maureen Dowd’s remarks, and I am not sure I want to. But I have to believe Americans are still overwhelmingly fair-minded people who HATE BULLIES — and that this overkill attack on Palin will backfire on a press that has become nothing more than a propaganda machine.
Palin is a hypocrite. Complains about the press, but then calls Hillary Clinton a whiner.
http://www.perrspectives.com/blog/archives/001303.htm
During a Women and Leadership event back in March, Governor Palin was asked about Senator Clinton’s response to media scrutiny - and criticism - she received on the campaign trail during the Democratic primaries. Palin made it clear to moderator Karen Breslau of Newsweek that she considered Clinton’s conduct unbecoming:
“Fair or unfair, I think she does herself a disservice to even mention it…When I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism or, you know, maybe a sharper microscope put on her, I think, man, that doesn’t do us any good. Women in politics, women in general wanting to progress this country. I don’t think it’s, it bodes well for her — a statement like that…It bothers me a little bit hearing her bring that attention to herself on that level.”
And what is left out in the “quote” above really changes the TENOR of what Palin is saying. Nice editing job there. I suggest people actually look at the video to get the full gist of what Palin says: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gA15XU23kEc.
Even still, even if she DID say it that way (which, IMHO, she did not), how does this make her a hypocrite? She didn’t resign because people were picking on her as a woman, you know. Comparing apples to oranges here…
Palin is a loser and a quitter. She is your feminist hero? What a joke!
Exactly! It’s bizarre to me that folks are trying to turn the fact that she abandoned the people who elected her over a year early as some sort of positive. She is a quitter!
UP - is that short for “up-chuck”? That’s something you do very well.
By your logic, Sebelius was a quitter. You asked for a Gov who wasn’t elected to something else who resigned. Sebelius wasn’t elected to anything new, Obama was. The people of Kansas elected Sebelius to serve, and she resigned. The people of Kansas didn’t elect Sebelius to serve unless someone offered her a better job.
And, to split the difference here, there are at least somewhat valid criticisms of Palin - for one - “what, Palin resigned because she thought 3 years was too much experience” . Try using something like that.
Or try to prove your point. If there’s some sort of official list of “good reasons to resign” and “bad reasons to resign”, I think that might help to make your case.
To this point, your argument consists of a dislike of Palin and a desire to see Palin called a quitter.
Recap: you need 1) evidence that others were called “quitter” 2) an agreed-upon list of acceptable reasons to resign and unacceptable reasons to resign.
You should talk Amy with all your cutting and pasting and editing jobs that you do on this website. Another hypocite!
Uh, yeah, sure, okay. Take a look at the article I referenced and let me know just where I cut and pasted it to change the intent of the article. And, unlike the quote you put in, I EXPECT people to read the ENTIRE article and come to their own conclusions. It was only because most of the information in the AP article I referenced was already out there, and most of the readers here, being intellectually curious people who do their homework would have already read it, that I did not want to be redundant.
Perhaps you are unaware of the definition of “hypocrite,” since you continue to use it inappropriately.
actually up, you are the joke. how dare you prance on here with your jibes and silly put downs all the while thinking you are some superior being. bots aren’t superor. just look at ole zero!
Rev. Amy, as you know, many of the folks here at NQ supported Hillary and later supported McCain-Palin, largely as a reaction against Obama worship and the rabidly biased MSM and their misogyny. Now, an effective wedge issue to drive anyone who ever cared about Hillary away from Palin would be a very useful weapon. Anyway, this is, it seems to me, just such a wedge “issue.” Only problem is, it isn’t much of a wedge, and it is a very feeble weapon to use against Palin.
I’ve seen the video, and it doesn’t bother me. It certainly doesn’t justify the epithet “hypocrite.”
Yes, Gov. Palin said HRC needed to “buck up”, but a whole lot has happened since then. It is meaner and uglier now and they aren’t just calling her names. The misogynist ooze that seeped out of the BO campaign last year is now a full grown pus filled monster and it is time to lance this creature.
OMG, I get so pissed off every time I think of those punks wearing those C–T T-shirts in NY. I cannot even read what they said about Trig, I am sure I could hurt someone. Aaarrggghh!
I am sure I watched “Men in Black” far too many times, but this disgusting situation reminds me of the huge cockroach thing at the end of the movie!
Are you admitting Hillary was attacked in a sexist manner or do you agree with Gov. Palin’s statement? You can’t have it “Up” and down. It strikes me as utterly hypocritical for one who was not doubt applauding Obama’s sexist behavior toward then Sen. and former First Lady, Hillary Clinton, to now invoke her name in defense of your immature, nasty fixation on yet another woman.
i sincerely hope that hillary is rethinking caving in to the dimocrats! we regret it hill, please rethink. like scarlett said in GONE WITH THE WIND, “tomorrow is another day.” sarah is getting way ahead. wake up and smell the anger hill!
Stodgie,
Although I maintain my view that Hillary taking the SOS was the best decision all around especially that now we hear that Hillary is telling Obmaa what to do on Iran
However,
I wish Hillary had shown the same kind of Moxie that Sarah is showing by abruptly quitting the democrat party or moving over to the McCain camp.
Sometimes you have to make bold moves to change the paradigm
“Bold changes” like abandoning everything you believe in? Why should Clinton suddenly become a Republican just because she lost the primary? That’s just flat out insane. To people like Hillary Clinton (and myself) who actually care about the issues, that’s just not an option.
I had been a strong Democrat for decades until last year.
Because of the way the campaign was carried out I was finally able to look under the rock called the democratic party and was horrified to see a nest of Marxist’s and anti-American thugs squirming underneath.
Bill & Hillary represented the center
McCain represented the center
Palin represents the NEW CENTER!
suzie, i see you are back with your juvenile name calling. tell you what, stfu now! no one wants to hear or read your childish rants. get lost!
Suzie are you so delusional you think Obama cares about issues? His position changes on all things, important and insignificant, from moment to moment.
You have some nerve, obamabotulism, placing yourself in the company of HRC, of whom I am a staunch supporter. “To people like Hillary Clinton and YOU”, indeed. You are nothing but an insignificant Obamabot, paid to come here and peddle your delusional, dilapidated dreck for all the world to laugh at. I hope he’s paying you enough to compensate for the shame you are enduring via our collective derision.
Here is one female pundit on Sarah Palin who needs to shut up.
http://blogs.abcnews.com/george/2009/07/roundtable-palins-bombshell.html
I agree completely. Where do these media people get the idea that they can just print things and not get sued? The press should have to prove all accusations beyond a shadow of the doubt before publishing anything critical of a government official. They act like they have some kind of constitutional right or something. It makes me sick.
And don’t give me that crap about the First Amendment. As Sarah Palin herself pointed out last year, the purpose of the First Amendment is not to protect the rights of citizens to criticize the government. It’s to protect the rights of government officials to “ask questions without fear of attacks by the mainstream media.”
The people who are accusing Gov. Palin of things are abridging her First Amendment rights. I hope she stands up for the Constitution by suing them.
Oh, I disaqree with you, Belle du Jour. I believe the MSM should have the right to say whatever they want about whomever they want whenever they want. And that goes for their families too.
To: oowawa
Walk a mile in Hillary’s or Sarah Palin’s shoes and then just maybe you may cling to your argument that children can be attacked by the MSM. That is if you have children! Pressed to do that I think you may have a different point of view. And, if you still believe that children are fair game then maybe you don’t have a soul; and I certainly wouldn’t wish any child to have you as a parent. It is the responsibility of us all to protect our children because if we don’t we are nothing more than animals. By the way, what did your parents do?
Dutch, my comment was pure sarcasm, in response to Belle du Jour’s sarcastic comment. Meaning: I believe as you do.
Wow, you could not be more wrong. The First Amendment absolutely protects the rights of people to criticize the government.
For the first time since the 2008 Election, I really have hope. With Sarah Palin’s resignation, she can now address in full force the sickness that has become the soul of the USA Political System. Hillary Clinton endured horrible misogyny and sexism. Sarah Palin had to endure all that and more. The attacks against her children went way beyond the pale. This link is so sick that I cannot even imagine the creator being a human being. Certainly this person does not have children - at least I would prefer to believe this person does not have children because I cannot believe that any parent would be capable of such horror.
http://legalinsurrection.blogspot.com/2009/06/wonkette-goes-after-trig-palin-again.html
I am hopeful because now the people who come up with this garbage may be pursued and sued. I believe that good things will come from Sarah Palin for all of us. She has a courageous heart that is far bigger and better than any politician out there. Maybe she can show the mealy mouthed “go alongers” out there that there is another choice - human decency and respect for disagreement without sacrificing your soul to the devil.
As the sister and caregiver of a brother who was born profoundly handicapped, I’ve been sickened since last year when a former “friend” made ugly remarks about Trig Palin. To me, the attacks on the Palin children are unlike anything I’ve ever seen before in nearly 50 years of political observation. It’s absolutely shameful that media abet this ugliness by being either dismissive of it and/or failing to expose and condemn any and all perpetrators.
As well, where are the Kennedys, great champions of the Special Olympics? Why hasn’t a single one of them had the decency to make a very public condemnation of the disgusting treatment of this Downs Syndrome child?
I don’t believe Gov. Palin would be resigning if only SHE were the butt of jokes and ridicule. This depravity aimed at her children has only succeeded in revealing the utter soulessness and heartlessness of those who’ve perpetrated it as well as those who’ve failed to say ENOUGH!
Patience, I believe it was, Rosemary, a daughter of Rose and Joe Kennedy and JFK’s sister who underwent a lobotomy while in her twenties. I read she had become unruly and aggressive and with the agreement of her father, a neurosurgeon removed part of her brain.
Only a few had been performed at that time and the surgery left her totally incapacitated. She was incontinent and had the mind of an infant so they placed her in a home where she stayed until she died years later.
The special Olympics was created by the Kennedy’s in her honor. It was a horrible tragedy and after several hundred more of these surgeries were performed, the doctor lost his medical license. I can’t understand either why the remaining members of the family haven’t spoken out against the trashing of Palin’s baby.
I love how there’s no acknowledgement of how much Palin brought all this scorn and ridicule upon herself. Some of it may be out of bounds, but that’s part of politics. Horrible, hateful things are said about politicians on this very website, but because those politicians are on the other side, it’s okay. Quite the double standard.
Palin took on a role she was woefully unprepared for. She took this on becaue of her own ambition. She promoted abstinence only education when her own minor daughter was pregant, and failed to see how people would see that as amusing irony. She said she could handle foreign policy because she could see Russia from her house. She was clearly intellecutally incurious and had a background that very easily mocked (how many schools in how many years?)
On this site, it’s okay to claim a candidate’s wife is a racist based on no evidence. It’s okay to claim that a candidate should be responsible for the actions of distant relatives. It’s okay to call the President a boy. But god forbid anyone call Palin out for resigning before her first term is complete, or say that maybe serving half a term as Governor of Alaska doesn’t qualify you to be Vice-President for an old man wit ha history of serious illness.
People on this site complained that black people only voted for Obama because he was black. The only reason for someone to support both Hillary Clinton & Sarah Palin is that they’re both women. They are vastly different in personality, political beliefs, experience, etc. If you want to say that women are inherently worthy of support regardless of political belief, fine, but don’t pretend that Palin is somehow above reproach just because she has ovaries. If Michelle Obama had ever belonged to a political party the espouse secession from the US, the howls coming from NoQuarter would never cease. If he said in an interview that he could only think of one Supreme Court case, you’d be ranting and raving about that. If he gave the rambling, nonsensical answers to questions that Palin did, the jokes would be coming for decades.
Don’t pretend that this site isn’t just as bad as those that spread rumors about Palin. The hypocrisy on NoQuarter is thick enough to spread on toast.
say skinny, none here cares what you think. in fact it is clear your critical thinking skills are non existant.
Are you really such an idiot, Skin?
“Palin took on a role she was woefully unprepared for.”
Do you need to be reminded she was a VP candidate or that Obama has less experience than any pres in the history of the country?
As a senator, Obama opposed Bush’s Faith Based Initiatives. As president, he is expanding them. What kind of sex education do you think will be taught at those Catholic and evangelical schools which will receive some of that money? Abstinence Only. He has no strong convictions about anything.
PALIN NEVER SAID SHE COULD SEE RUSSIA FROM HER DOORSTEP. YOU GOT THAT ,SKINNY? That was a JOKE Tina Fey told on Saturday Night Live.
Intellectually incurious? Some things Obama didn’t know: the Selma, AL riots occurred four years after his birth; Auschwitz was liberated by the USSR; Oregon in not on the Great Lakes; there are fifty states in the USA; Farsi is spoken in Afghanistan; 10,000 people were not killed in the Greensburg, KA tornado.
John McCain has a history of “serious mental illness”? Proof please. He spent five years as a prisoner of war at the Hanoi Hilton so he probably did suffer PTSD, but what’s Obama’s excuse? The drugs he took or being abandoned by his mother?
People on this site supported Hillary because she was one thousand times better prepared for the office than Obama and may I remind you a second time, Palin was not running for president? Listening to Obama’s “uhs” when speaking without notes or teleprompter is boring for anyone with intelligence and on his appearance with Rick Warren, the best he could come up with when asked when life began was, “That’s above my pay-grade”.
Palin’s husband belonged to the Alaskan Independence Party, his wife was never a member. Wherever or whoever gave you that information is a liar.
I have made it a point to never write anything about Michelle Obama which could in any way be construed as sexist, but I saw three articles on the MSNBC home page today about how glamorous she is and how she will “wow” the Russians and I’m fed up. She wears false eyelashes and walks like a cow. She chooses clothes appropriate for a high school girl and has a scowl on her face when she looks at Hillary or the First Lady of France. She broke protocol by touching the Queen of England.
Jackie Kennedy spent half a lifetime in private and finishing schools and wore designer clothes when she was a child. Any comparison is ludicrous.
One last thing skin. I am a real liberal and I have been true to my convictions. I didn’t leave the Democratic Party. It left me when it engineered the nomination and election of a man who will never put the people of this country above his own interests.
I didn’t say McCain has a history of serious mental illness, I said he had a history of serious illness. He had skin cancer, which counts as serious illness in my book.
Also, I said that if Michelle Obama had been in a secessionist political party everyone here would be screaming about it. I didn’t say or imply that Sarah Palin was in that party; I know Todd was.
And you’re right, Palin didn’t say she could see Russia from her house; that was my mistake. She said “”They’re our next-door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.” Still not a persuasive argument for her foreign policy acumen.
Also, all your statements about Obama have nothing to do with Palin. Yeah, I do know she was running for VP; the fact that she was woefully unprepared for that job says even more about her.
And can I ask why the Democratic Party would engineer a victory for a young, relatively neophyte senator? Is there any chance that Hilary lost fair & square? After all, she certainly didn’t claim that she was cheated by the party. They made rulings that didn’t go her way, but she didn’t claim that this was underhanded, and she even agreed to work in the administration. These aren’t the actions of someone who thinks she was robbed.
Actually being unprepared better describes your heart-throb in the WH. I’m still waiting for the objective evidence of those “stellar” grades bestowed upon That One, Skanky Malankey in the form of a real, honest-to-God certified set of transcripts of the kind I had to provide for all companies for which I have worked. You keep telling us they exist but can’t provide them. And Google is not a document warehouse, Sparky Malarkey or even a very good search engine, particularly when it comes to That One.
Only because she wanted to do what was best for the country–It had nothing to do with Obumble. She is a patriot; he is a carpet bagger.
Yeah, Clinton becoming Secretary of State had nothing to do with Obama, even though it meant working under him, and even though it wouldn’t have happened without him asking her to serve. Again, if she thought he cheated her out of the primary, why would she have gone to work for him? She’s never made any claim that she was cheated, and her actions definitely aren’t those of someone who got robbed of what was rightfully hers.
Look, you terminally obtuse asshat, she is serving us by being there and not him. She is doing this for the good of the country because she is a patriot unlike That One at whose feet you worship daily. He’s just after the adoration of dimbulbs like you and the glory of being POTUS, the shallow, callow little prissy-man he is.
Her service has nothing to do with him and everything to do with her, you stupid shill. Hell, you’re just another dime-a-dozen cellar-dwelling troll with no life, little gray matter, and lots of time on your hands. You wouldn’t possibly understand the concept of service as you are just another taker. Dry up you worthless toady.
skin, not only was your first post riddled with inaccuracies, you answered none of my questions.
What Obama doesn’t know is relevant to all of us. The fact that the press ignored legitimate questions about a presidential candidate’s experience for the job and are now in the process of creating a messianic myth around him and his wife should scare us all.
As it turns out, Obama’s policies are evolving as we speak and moving closer to GWB. Why do you visit one of the few places left which is willing to challenge our government on it’s lies in order to attack a woman who, according to your beliefs, posses no future problem for Obama? If you are playing a game, it is a sexist game and I’ve had enough of the babble.
After months of reading comments here, I have never heard anyone attack either of Obama’s children. His own mother conceived him out of wedlock, but I’ve never heard anyone call him trash for that reason. Palin’s Down Syndrome baby would be off limits for anyone with an ounce of humanity. If she had tried to hide this baby, she would have been a hypocrite.
The fact this particular disorder happens almost exclusively to babies born of mothers who are pre-menopausal didn’t stop the ridiculous claims the baby wasn’t her’s. Some low life creature even had the gall to claim incest in that family with absolutely no proof. I am filled with shame that members of a Party I was proud to call my own were responsible for this hateful filth.
Skinny - do some real research and then speak up. Sometimes it is better to shut your mouth and keep people guessing about your intelligence rather than start talking and remove all doubt.
Where is my rant, Rev. Amy? Was it too long or did I say something naughty?
Hey, Elise -
Just so you know, if it hasn’t already appeared, we ave been having a heckuva time with our Spam filter. It is holding stuff that it has no business holding (though if someone uses the word “idiot” in any form, that is a sure way for it to bump it out. Kinda funny…Ahem.
I’ll check and make sure, but if it is the rant that is now above, no, it is not too long, and THANK YOU for an excellent comment!
Stodgie, oowawa, and ferd, y’all never fail to come up with comments both funny and insightful - thank you!
elise, that was a great rant, and I’m glad that admin braved the underworld realms of the Almighty Spam Filter to rescue it for us.
Thank you both. I was afraid I’d crossed the line.
Can you move on already? What’s the obsession with Palin? There’s always been way too much negative baggage with her. Mostly of her very own making.
Blaming the whole world, as this site is want to do, except Sarah for Sarah’s troubles helps her how?
The country is NOT mourning her bone-headed decision to be a quitter. She offers nothing unique or even particularly impressive. She is clearly way over her head. (what the hell did McCain actually see in her??) She clearly has no future in politics. Time to move on…
NEXT!
Great post.
I think the poor HObots are just on meltdown because their HObama is sucking so bad and in their desperate attempt to take the (small)spotlight off of him, they are desperately trying to drum up propagnda on Gov Palin, the one they fear.
And funny. If they didn’t think Gov Palin was a force they will face, why are they so desperately trying to drum up false stories and trying to trash her. lmao
Whether or not Gov. Palin is up for the job of POTUS is worthy of substantive debate, but that’s not what’s happening. What’s happening is an ugly campaign to attempt to deny her of every American’s right to have a voice in political dialogue. Attacking her children so viciously with the aim of silencing her is despicable. It’s shameful that there are adults who feel a license to do so, using the inclusion of her Downs Syndrome son with the rest of her family on the stage at the Republican convention as an indefensible excuse. What these reprobates are in effect saying is that a less-than-perfect physical specimen is offensive to their peculiar sensitivites and should be hidden from their view. This is a dangerous attitude and I fear for what it could lead to.
Rove and Huckabee need to keep their traps shut and wait and see what happens rather than talking out the side of their butts.
Is there anyone other than Palin that has the cajones to step up for the GOP? The party is dying and they continue to stab at it from the inside out.
Remember when Dole ran for the 3rd time and how awesome every news organization said how awesome that was?
http://www.nydailynews.com/archives/news/1996/05/16/1996-05-16_dole_leaves_the_senate_he_qu.html
Dole quit mid-term and the media hailed him for his audacious decision.
Um, Dole quit after he had already secured the nomination. And he lost the election by 8 points. Not the best model for Sarah.
Dole showed great integrity when he resigned the Senate for his Presidential run.
Sarah Palin is showing that same integrity and being burned for it.
Here’s what bothers me the most about Palin’s decision. Yes, she’s been subjected to a lot of attacks. Well, politics ain’t beanbag. But think about another politician who faced unfair attacks: Bill Clinton.
I still remember how proud I was of Clinton when, in the face of all those ridiculous Republican slurs (including, you may recall, truly despicable jokes about his daughter), he said he would keep fighting for voters “until the last dog dies.” Whatever Sarah Palin’s been through, her opponents never went so far as to impeach her on trumped up charges. Bill’s legal bills dwarfed anything Palin is facing. But he didn’t quit; he fought through all those slanders and told the GOP where to stick it. And he won.
Or take Hillary. After spending 8 years as the most vilified First Lady since Eleanor Roosevelt — actually worse, since Eleanor was never accused of murder — no one would have blamed her if she had headed off into a quiet, well-deserved retirement. But instead, she dove right back into the arena and won a Senate seat. And then when she ran for president, and faced all those sexist attacks, it would have been easy for her to make it all go away by dropping out, but she kept on fighting until the last primary. And when she finally conceded and endorsed Obama, we all assumed she’d go back to her safe Senate seat and become an elder stateswoman of the party. But once again, she left that safe seat because she wanted to serve her country.
The common thread among both Clintons is that they believe so strongly in helping people that they refuse to let petty attacks keep them from their jobs. We still don’t know why Sarah Palin walked away from her responsibilities to the voters of Alaska. Maybe it was because she was sick of the attacks on her family. Maybe it was to position herself for ‘12. Maybe it was just to make money to cover her legal bills. All of those reasons may be understandable from a selfish point of view. But that’s just the point. They’re all selfish. Can you ever, in a million years, imagine Bill or Hillary walking out on a public-service job like that?
As an employer, I would never tolerate one of my employees walking out on the job without a good explanation, and I certainly wouldn’t turn around a few years later and hire them for a more important job. I feel the same way about Sarah Palin walking out on her “employers”, i.e., the voters of Alaska.
She couldn’t do them the job she was hired to do because of all the frivolous suits being brought against her. She was damned if she did and damned if she didn’t, as RRRA mentioned.
Your take is much different from mine–I would not want someone in my employ who, because of personal difficulties could not perform their function in the manner prescribed by the position description. I would gladly accept their resignation with thanks for their previous service.
Fred, are you seriously telling me that what Palin faced was worse than what Bill Clinton faced? Ethics complaints? Pshaw! Clinton was impeached! Late-night comedians? Those guys made their entire living on Clinton jokes. SNL even ridiculed 12-year-old Chelsea’s looks (so did John McCain). He took everything they had and kept smiling, because he knew that it wasn’t about him, it was about us. Sarah Palin took her toys and went home. I find nothing admirable in that.
I think my meaning was succinct. She was damned if she did and damned if she didn’t and I would rather have someone else running the ship of state if the current occupant could not perform their functions due to frivolous lawsuits taking up so much of their time. You might have a different take and that is your opinion and by the same token, I have a right to mine.
In reality, her situation is not entirely analogous to that of the Clintons and is neither justification for nor against her decision.
And unless you want me to call you Mamma Casie, you should respond to me using “Ferd” as my moniker.
Ferd, my apologies for misreading your name.
