Maybe Obama Should Have Watched More “West Wing”?

I’m speaking of Obama, of course (h/t to Gateway Pundit for the video). Now some of you know I am a big baseball fan, as well as a big “West Wing” fan, along with other writers here (talking about you, Bronwyn!), so when I see this:

I think of this exchange:

Charlie Young: [telling the President that he has to practice throwing a baseball with a bullet proof vest on before throwing the first pitch out at a baseball game] Sir, everyone agrees.
President Josiah Bartlet: Like who?
Charlie Young: Leo, Josh, CJ, your wife, the Notre Dame athletic department…

Maybe Obama should have practiced more, too, since he barely made it to the plate - oh wait, the announcer doesn’t mention that. Good thing there is THIS video that shows the entire pitch:

And he gives himself a little fist pump for barely making it to the plate, too!! Perhaps that’s why some people are booing him? Oh, no wait - it started before he threw out the pitch. Funny, the announcer doesn’t mention that, either. Did you notice the driver of the golf cart in the first video barely shook Obama’s hand? Interesting commentary there, too, I think.

Since I mentioned the “West Wing,” and since we are in the midst of hearings for a new Supreme Court Justice, how about this classic clip regarding nominees for the Supreme Court:

Ah, the politics involved in selecting the next Supreme Court Justice…

By the way, in response to my post recently on the grave robbers, a number of people mentioned that Michelle Obama’s father was buried in Burr Oaks Cemetery, too. As it turns out, that was not true. Apparently, Michelle Obama’s Communications Director put that out there without bothering to check the facts first (oh, now THERE’S a surprise - hahahahahaha), and has now had to retract that statement. Turns out, her father is not buried there after all. Gee, it is a little hard not to be too cynical about that revelation…

Now compare that to Dubya throwing out the first pitch at a Rangers game in April. Goddamn! Right down the pipe for a strike!

The live TV shot was the first time I ever saw a sports network intentionally have a camera angle that excluded the catcher in a 1st pitch. That was no one would know what he did. Unfortunately David Axelrod didn’t know they had a centerfield camera.

Also makes you wonder if Obama really did sink that 3 pointer in basketball since you all you saw was the ball leave his hands . . . and then the ball reappear going into the net:

Comment by Naomi | 2009-07-16 02:04:47

oh for crying out loud! suspicious of the 3 pointer? they purposely did not show the catcher because the media did not want to show how far obama pitched? this is ridiculous!

Comment by elise | 2009-07-16 05:14:41

Open up them there eyes, Naomi. The media is all about making him look good. Some have even admitted their goal is to make him look successful.

Comment by Karma | 2009-07-16 00:38:19

Look I know that baseball has it’s fanatics. There are plenty of stories of baseball fans getting nailed for wearing the wrong jacket at the wrong ball park.

But baseball fans aren’t stupid.

Why would they expect a Chicago resident to wear colors from another team/state?

Face it….Obama was boo’d for more than a jacket. Just like Bush was boo’d for more than a jacket at other tosses.

However, no one was booing at Bush after 9/11.

Holy smokes - Biden did a MUCH better job (never thought I’d say that - never was a big fan of Biden’s. Apparently, most Dems weren’t either, which is why he never won ONE Primary. Just sayin’.).

Obama would have done BETTER had he “thrown like a girl”! ;-)

I have to say, I have now found out Obama did indeed practice his throwing. Oh, boy, that’s not good, right?

Oh - Confused American, as Jay said, Obama was because he wore a jacket for a team they didn’t like. Oh, yeah, okey dokie. :-)

Comment by noproblama | 2009-07-16 03:39:09

I googled “Obama throws like a girl” after the game and read a few of the many long brutal threads. Even Yahoo Answers took no pity; calling him out for his “dad jeans”. Guess the honeymoon is over.

Yes, that was one weak ass throw, vest or not. And talk about a media whore. How’d talk him out of singing the National Anthem?

Comment by Kathleen Wynne | 2009-07-16 08:58:50

Maybe Obama Should Have Watched More “West Wing”?

Doing some research prior to the election I found out that that show may have been based on Obama. I don’t have my notes any more, but Google search may pull it up for anyone who cares.

He is just one huge yawn for me. A petulant, dangerous child. When I was about 7 a dangerous petulant child, chased me. When he finally caught me, he stabbed me in the back with his birthday knife. Same boring, narcissistic personality.

Comment by tminu | 2009-07-15 17:46:43

Yikes about the knife. Obama needed a few drill sergeant Dad figures, instead he’s never been challenged his entire life.

Comment by WMCB | 2009-07-15 21:55:46

Comment by Alicia | 2009-07-15 18:08:57

That was a sorry pitch. Clip 1 and 2 didn’t even look like the same throw. Didn’t hear the boos though, and would really like to if there’s another clip out there. . .

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2009-07-15 22:08:44

I know, right? Most of them, including the one in which you can really hear the booing, do not show the entire pitch. Gee, wonder why??

And yes, Pujols had to reach forward for the pitch, and he wasn’t behind the plate, as far as I can tell. Pitiful.

Sorry guys but Im starting to get a giggle out of this whole stupid health care mess that Barry is pushing.

Looks like all those nice rich white folks who gave him the money and put him in office are going to get to lose some big bucks so we can have federal medical insurance. HMMMM

Maybe if they wake up out of their rich caviar stupor they might be able to help stop this mess.

Comment by A-Nony-Mouse | 2009-07-15 21:16:45

Stop the mess of finally fixing our health care system? That’s a mess? Do you realize that the US spends more money on health care than any other nation in the world yet ranks only #37 in health care results? It’s unbelievable that anyone is still buying into the health insurance industry talking points. Watch “Sicko” ! It’s the truth.

And while you’re at it, watch Steven Crowder and his friends little journey to a few Canadian health clinics, the ER, etc.

A waiting time of 2-3 years just to get a primary doctor assigned to you? Without an assigned doctor, you can’t use the local clinic. Go to the ER and wait 2-10 hours. Geez, isn’t that what the uninsured in America do already?

http://www.pjtv.com/video/Louder_With_Crowder/__PJTV_Undercover%3A_Steven_Crowder_Investigates_Why_CanadaCare_SucksWill_ObamaCare_Be_Any_Better%3F/2153/;jsessionid=abc2NQ5lqngnT7DgpEdks

I love how it’s suggested (more than once) by medical professionals that Crowder and his friend just go to a private clinic and pay for treatment out of pocket.

If you really think it will be any different for Americans in 10 years if the current clusterf*ck of a plan goes through, then you are naive. This isn’t true reform, this is taking a mess and making it even worse. And once again, the really rich can pay for private treatment but the middle and lower classes? They won’t have ANY other options.

Lastly, I refuse to endorse any plan that exempts Congress/Senate and Federal Employees from being included. If it’s not good enough for them, then that tells me all I need to know about the plan.

Comment by tead off | 2009-07-17 03:35:11

confused american — there is nothing funny about the Healthcare mess. Its not about the rich and their caviar. Its about a narcissistic nut case who wants what he wants when he wants it–never mind the chaos, lost jobs, high taxes on those who are already reeling from this economy, or the Seniors for whom the rationing of Healthcare is a life or death situation. Pass anything and make him look good–that’s all he cares about and if a few months from now it turns out to be as bad as its predicted to be–he will be onto something new. Some really big sweeping plan to awe us once again.

Comment by Babs | 2009-07-15 20:56:57

Media hype casts him as a “jock”, but my kids are all “jocks”, and trust me when I tell you that even my girls make Obama look like he’s never thrown a baseball in his life. I’ve watched tape of him playing basketball, and even though that’s his professed expertise, I have always thought he looked pretty “girly” at that as well. Obama the “jock”, Michelle the “fashion icon”, an American fairy tale.

Comment by fif | 2009-07-15 21:09:31

As I heard today, if you watch the video clip that includes the end of the pitch, Obama did NOT make it to the plate–the pitcher was standing ON the plate, and still had to reach forward. Let’s see, that’s bowling, golfing and baseball. Don’t you love how they keep trying to present him as such a jock?

Comment by fif | 2009-07-15 21:11:03

mlb.com has many video clips of Obama, just click the link for the All Star game videos, 5 or 6 pages of video, which include Obama with the game announcers and in the locker room schmoozing, and an interview with Bob Costas, where he states that he has been practicing bowling at the White House and at Camp David and now bowls in the 160’s, no mention of Special Olympics. He also commented that the CIA can get him any of the television stations the White House may not already have, referring to sports channels. And Obama answers questions of some of the All Stars, as well as a couple views of the pitch. P.S. there was an All Star from Chicago White Socks.

And back to Obama and baseball for a second, there was THIS funny story, “Meet Me In St. Booie” by Andy McCarthy from a conservative’s point of view. One thing he points out is that the CATCHER is always the one to catch the First Pitch, but they set it up to have one of THE most popular players in the country, surely the MVP this year, Albert Pujols, catch the ball. Like, maybe they KNEW Obama wasn’t going to get this adoration he thinks he so richly deserves…

seems to me he gave the fist pump so people watching the video he had made sure would be the one shown - the one that didn’t actually show where the ball went - would assume he threw it well and that’s why he was pumping his fist. one thing the big zero knows is how to pretend to be or do something without actually being or doing it.
