MsPlacedDemocrat Will Be Missed (Updated)

Nancy Armstrong, aka, MsPlacedDemocrat, aka Navy Vet, died suddenly on Wednesday. My heart goes out to her family and friends, which include many in the blogosphere. (H/T to my friend, Diamond Tiger, for informing me of this sad news.)

UPDATE: Nancy appeared on Glenn Beck, I have never seen this before.

h/t American Spectator

And I would like to offer this prayer (adapted) by A. Powell Davies, a Unitarian minister who served at All Souls Church in Washington, D.C. in the ’40’s and ’50’s, and dedicated to social justice:

The love we can no longer give to our beloved, may we give it to those who need it. May our compassion be deeper, our sympathy wider. Let our sorrow melt away our bitterness and teach us to be gentle. May we be saved from frozen-ness of heart. If so much that is precious can so soon be lost, let us cherish what remains; and let us be the nurture of things precious in the lives of others.

Whatever we have known and loved is ours while life shall last. May we see that what we love becomes a part of us, is interfused with our lives, blended with mind and memory and joined to our souls. May we resolve that the good we knew in those who have gone from ys shall live in us and be passed on from one generation to another.

When we do not know and cannot see, may we put our trust in things we cannot see. Even in this life, all about us and within us there is mystery/ Yet the mystery shines, and in its light we see the beautiful and good. May we have faith that it is not otherwise beyond the limit of our sight: that beauty endures, that goodness (and love) reign.

Amy,
Thanks for your gift of ministry in this. Nancy’s passing is a reminder of how tenuous and brief life is. We must live each day to the fullest. I wish her family peace.

Oh my, was that Navyvet48 from the Taylor Marsh site who did all the hard work to expose ACORN? Her family will be in my prayers?

Comment by nomobama | 2009-07-30 11:45:29

Yes, it was NavyVet who wisely left the Taylor Marsh site as most of us did.

RRR Amy, that is a lovely prayer, thank you for posting that. I only just got in and came here to post:

I received this tweet from Diamond Tiger of Logistics Monster blog:

“It is with the heaviest heart that I inform you that MsPlacedDem/NavyVet passed away last night. Please inform the blogging community.”

Her name was Nancy Armstrong and she protested in Denver and worked hard. I believe she was originally from Boston. Please see Logistics Monster’s blog for videos of Ms Placed Dem: http://logisticsmonster.com/2009/07/29/we-have-lost-an-american-patriot-msplaceddemocrat-has-gone-home/

If you’d like to leave a message of sympathy to her family, please visit her blog, Ms Placed Democrat: http://msplaceddemocrat.com/http:/msplaceddemocrat.com/sad-news/

Yes, by all means, do go to her site and send a message to her family, if you wish. There are also lots of photos of Nancy there, as well. (DT let me know as well, bless her.)

Glad y’all appreciate the prayer. Davies was a remarkable man. If I recall correctly, I believe he and Eleanor Roosevelt worked together on social justice issues.

Thanks, Larry – and thank you for having a space like this for us to gather…

I knew Nancy briefly throughout 08 – I admired her work greatly. She was someone I looked to for vision and clarity. Nancy was a leader and I was proud to follow that lead.

My deepest condolences for her family and friends,

~Claudia

I met a Nancy Armstrong at a Hillary primary rally in Dallas. She was a tiny lady, I believe she said she was coming from Kansas at the time to work for Hillary. Now Dallas is a pretty big town, we had 4,000 people show up at the rally (Hillary won the Texas primary by 4% and “lost” the caucus later that evening by 12% in what has proven to be massive fraud by the bho immoral camp) and I told Nancy I’d meet her at the east entrance and would call her cell phone when I got there.

So I’m standing in line and hear two ladies behind me chatting, one saying they drove in from Kansas. I said I’m meeting a lady from Kansas, Nancy Armstrong, and Nancy Armstrong extends her hand! If this is the same Nancy Armstrong mentioned in this blog, that’s one more hardworking American for Hillary, our democracy and our country.

Peace in the passing.

I believe it was the one and only. Check out her blog at this link… http://msplaceddemocrat.com/

There are pictures of her there.

Oh, gosh it WAS “the one and only” Nancy. I got her name off Hillary’s official campaign website. Nancy wanted to go work for Hillary in Texas and was willing to drive down if someone could supply a motel (not the more expensive hotel) room for her and a pal. Given my job at the time, I couldn’t work for Hillary during the day and told Nancy I’d put her and her friend up in a basic motel in a fairly inexpensive Dallas suburb. Talk about synchronicity–there I was, having seen Bill in Arlington, TX recently and standing in one of the eight long security check lines, having left a message for Nancy before we all enteried that raucous coliseum in Fair Park, eager to see and hear Hillary in person, and this tiny woman right behind me was our Nancy. I still remember that day, the hard work of all us ordinary Americans with an extraordinary love and repect for our country and people like Hillary and Bill who put up with so much to help us. Honest, decent hardworking people who hitched rides from state to state, slept on living room floors and in bargain motels–across America working for a great American, HRC.

So much good in this country. Let’s keep on shining the light.

Blessings to Nancy’s family.

It’s people like Nancy Armstrong who help keep our democracy honest for all of us. Her unfailing desire to get to the truth of whatever she was investigating is a testament to her character. Nancy was “grassroots”, and the grassroots will miss her. I honor her military service to America. My sincere condolences to her family. God bless!

It’s a testament to the power of her words that so many people who never had the privilege of meeting Nancy Armstrong will recall her dynamic energy. I well remember her as NavyVet and the tireless way she worked for Hillary and, after Hillary was robbed of the nomination, NavyVet worked on with equal vigor to expose the rancid underbelly of the Obama machine and ACORN. She was an inspiration to me to keep caring about our democracy when I felt like giving up and walking away from anything political. Her good works will resound long after her voice has gone silent.

Rest in peace, Nancy. We salute you.
