Open Thread: “Obama’s Ratings Slide Across the Board” (Pew Research)

From Pew Research Center, via Memeorandum.com: “The Economy, Health Care Reform and Gates Grease the Skids — Barack Obama’s approval ratings have suffered major declines. The president’s overall job approval number fell from 61% in mid-June to 54% currently.”

Here’s a suggestion: Why doesn’t President Obama talk about creating JOBS instead of repetitively using the same tired talking points about health care without ever explaining to Americans how his health care bill will help the economy, let alone create jobs. As a panelist on Bret Baier’s Special Report said yesterday, “Obama has EXHAUSTED his bully pulpit on health care reform.” Americans want to know what Obama is doing about creating JOBS, JOBS, JOBS.

It’s obvious to us who are cynics that Obama’s preoccupation with health care has to do with building a historic legacy, and not what the American people need most right now.

Check out the Weekly Standard’s Daily Grind for more on why Obama’s ratings are dropping.

What say you?

Last time Obama’s ratings took a big slide, and McCain pulled ahead, we had a major economic crisis, remember?

It is not very comforting to those of us who knew the guy would be a disaster and was definitely no messiah to see people disapprove of him now. Way past too late, unless those people who’s eyes are now opened wish to talk impeachment? I’m sure we can find a reason.

I imagine some bots now have that sick in the stomach feeling that I had a little over a year ago when I realized this was a fraud and the media was controlled. For that I pity those fools!

Look at this quote from his side kick.

Emanuel Rahm once said, “Never let a serious crisis go to waste.” And when your “crisis” is in crisis?Create another crisis and the crisis your old crisis faces is forgotten.”

Sounds about like what happened?

Constitutional question: Fact… Obama father was a British citizen … No need for Birth Cert … Since again Constitution Question is Obama is a Natural Born Citizen as required to be eligible for President. Natural Born Citizen … intent of framers of the U.S. Constitution … The Law of Nations by Vattel was guidance for the framers….

So what does it says regarding NBC…

§ 212. Citizens and natives.
The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens. As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights. The society is supposed to desire this, in consequence of what it owes to its own preservation; and it is presumed, as matter of course, that each citizen, on entering into society, reserves to his children the right of becoming members of it. The country of the fathers is therefore that of the children; and these become true citizens merely by their tacit consent. We shall soon see whether, on their coming to the years of discretion, they may renounce their right, and what they owe to the society in which they were born. I say, that, in order to be of the country, it is necessary that a person be born of a father who is a citizen; for, if he is born there of a foreigner, it will be only the place of his birth, and not his country.

http://home.earthlink.net/~dybel/Documents/LawOfNations,Vattel.htm#I-§212

Natural born citizen… Being born to citizens meaning plural … See Obama birth cert … a red herring.

Oh & the 14 amendment say citizens not natural born citizens

And finally this Supreme Court decision…

SCOTUS clearly states in Minor, six years after the adoption of the 14th Amendment, that the definition of “natural-born citizen” is not found in the Constitution:

The Constitution does not, in words, say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common-law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives, or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners. Some authorities go further and include as citizens children born within the jurisdiction without reference to the citizenship of their [88 U.S. 162, 168] parents. As to this class there have been doubts, but never as to the first. For the purposes of this case it is not necessary to solve these doubts.

Well, did anybody really expect that an empty suit with no experience or leadership skills would last beyond the rhetoric of hope and change?

Like somebody here pointed out, 6 months to choose a dog for his brood, yet we gotta pass healthcare in 2 weeks. Then the massive spending, then the slip up in exposing his “hate on whitey” attitude that was covered up by the press when the Wright thing exploded last March.

Expect Obama and his minions to start bringing up how the US is still a racist society when he goes under 50% on RCP. That will drive his polling to the low 40’s.

Comment by politicalidentitycrisis | 2009-07-30 17:52:47

Nobody cares about being called a racist anymore.

Comment by Obama: Dubya' 2 Electric Boogaloo | 2009-07-30 17:58:53

Obama reminds of the trolls who are complete assholes that everyone hates, but they think by creating a new screen handle and email address that they’ll rejoin and fool everyone. But you can’t hide who you are and eventually the trollish asshole in you comes out again.

That’s Obama. He hates American, hates whitey, hates the principals that define America, yet no amount of image conditioning and recalibration of words can change who he is, like his little slip up on hating on whitey and backing Gates despite not having all the facts. Or even his speech at the NAACP. The real Obama is coming out and it’s turning off people like it should have done in March 2008.

I think that the reason for the slide is that a lot of air has gone out of the Hope and Change balloon. Rather than live up the promises he made on the campaign trail to provide a transparent government we instead find obfuscation. Rather than be true to his word that he would demand fiscal responsibility we have spend, spend, spend with no end in sight. And even in Iraq, there are rumors floating around that our commitment could extend for at least a decade.

The liberals are upset with him because he has betrayed them. The moderates are upset with him because of all his spending. And the conservatives are upset with him just because.

But there is no doubt that across the board Americans of every political stripe are awakening from the dream meme he so carefully crafted and seeing him for the inexperienced so-called pandering leader he is.

I have written about this Pew Research poll on my blog. I’ve mainly concentrated on Gatesgate because that is when this downward spiral began to gain momentum. If you would like to read it please do. And of course your comments are always welcomed.

But there is no doubt that across the board Americans of every political stripe are awakening from the dream meme he so carefully crafted and seeing him for the inexperienced so-called pandering leader he is.

Does this mean that those of us who didn’t doze off to the “dream meme” must still endure the nightmare we’ve been experiencing for almost a year?

Comment by cathnealon | 2009-07-30 18:04:33

Yes, Gatesgate really brought it home that this guy can’t think, can’t lead and can’t let go of his Jeremiah Wright roots. They have used the race card so much that they have rendered it a meaningless and ineffective weapon against those who dare to criticize his policies. Now, as many of us predicted as the unemployment rates go higher and higher he is toast. This isn’t the 1930’s. We have been raised as an immediate gratification, ADD and consumer generation who can’t wait for anything. Not like the immigrants and the Americans of the early 20th century who endured great hardships. No,just wait. These 20 somethings just out of college and who are looking for work will be getting very restless indeed and by December there will be no turning back. Show us the stimulus money? Show us the jobs you complete and utter fraud.

WASHINGTON (AP) - House Democrats have declined to subpoena available records that might reveal whether other members of Congress got discounted VIP mortgages from subprime lender Countrywide Financial Corp. similar to the sweetheart deals given Democratic Sens. Chris Dodd and Kent Conrad.

Republicans say they are willing to risk that the records now held by Bank of America may show that GOP lawmakers were also “friends of Angelo” who got preferential terms on personal mortgages at the behest of then-Countrywide CEO Angelo Mozilo.

The latest from Real Clear Politics:

Obama is dropping faster than Carter

Until Obama, Carter was the last president to begin his term in the high 60s. Carter first polled at a 66 percent approval rating. He did not reach Obama’s present territory until mid September, when he hit 54 percent.

Obama is now in the 53-52% range, and it’s only July.

I know that his staff has said Obama is sorry or Obama apologizes, But what about Obama himself saying he is sorry or I apologize.

In the Gates issue it was that he calibrated the words wrong, like some car.

Cynics unite!!! This is theater to the max. The health care reform [and I use the term loosely], the repeated happy talk on the economic news [check out the recent unemployment numbers and then the spin that labor is attempting to wing out there] and Barney Frank making grandiose gestures that he’s demanding cramdown policies for underwater mortgages [when he knows as any sensible person knows that the banks are sitting on mortgages because otherwise it would obvious that they're all insolvent].

This is theater of the absurd to keep the masses in check and prevent the pitchforks and torches from coming out [for the moment at least].

Are we cynics? No, we’re realists because anyone with a cheap calculator knows the numbers do not lie, only the people quoting them.

This is an ongoing farce. We ought to start calling it for what it is.

Thanks for the article, Bronwyn.

But he bit his tongue; and he has bitten his tongue on that and several other salient discrepancies between the man and his myth, ever since. But can you REALLY show where in the Messiah’s plan it says the insurance companies won’t be in charge?

Comment by Peggy Sue | 2009-07-30 22:34:39

Of course, it makes perfect sense to spend 1 trillion + on healthcare reform that caters to insurance companies and pharmacueticals when we’re already in the tank for 11 trillion +, exposed for 23.7 trillion dollars of risk with the bailouts, omnibus spending bill, budget, and unstimulating stimulus bill and unemployment [though reported at 9.5] is more in the range of 18% with no ceiling in sight.

Rising unemployment, tanking tax revenues and interest on the current debt and no consumer spending expected [which happens to represent 70% of the US economy]. Too bad. You can’t spend much when you’re out of a job and on the street.

But yes, please let’s feed the beast, make the insurance companies happy and pretend we’re all delirious, too.

Btw, what are you smoking? Maybe you can pass it along to the rest of us. Take a deep drag. We’re all going to need it.

And morality? You tell me what’s moral in the present economic situation facing this country or how your definition of morality is going to feed and clothe a child, a family, a nation?

Get off your damn high horse and start looking at the numbers. They’ll make you gag. You don’t need a Ph.D, just a cheap calculator and unbiased eye.

Numbers do not lie. Only the dishonest people quoting them. Take a look. I dare you.

Then and only then, come back and give us a morality lesson.
