When is it thuggery and when is it righteous protest? Just ask Rachel
By LisaB on August 5, 2009 at 10:15 AM in Current Affairs
Rachel Maddow did a self-righteous piece on “GOP Thuggery.” Sounding more like Olbermann everyday, Maddow has got self-righteousness down when it comes to defending the One.
Maddow seems to think the upset crowds are somehow GOP-orchestrated. Now according to many democrats, republicans are neither smart enough nor numerous enough anymore to pull off something like this. So what gives? How could Obama policies not be playing well at home? (Cue Rod Serling.)
When Obama policies aren’t playing well, it’s ALL AN EVIL GOP CONSPIRACY. All the angry people are GOP plants or robots flash-rioting at townhall meetings via twitter. Can’t possibly be otherwise, can it? Oh well, it could be only racists attend townhall meetings, I guess.
Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy
But what about orchestrated attempts to shut down other speakers? Last spring, some UNC students did their best to shut down an invited speaker. Tom Tancredo was invited by another student group to speak on immigration and a “democratic” (irony here) group shouted him down.
Well, I guess it’s all relative, right?
What would Maddow have said to the UNC students shouting down an invited speaker to UNC? They must have planned it – they had a long banner written up beforehand. Who knows? And really, I don’t care what she thinks. She’s hardly a non-partisan herself.
We protest in this country a lot. It’s in our collective DNA and it’s a democratic principle that people have a right to disagree. So, why bother showing all these clips? Well, my point is simply this: don’t buy what MSNBC is selling in how these townhall meetings played out. Don’t buy that these angry people MUST all be evil republicans and don’t buy the idiotic idea that ONLY republicans are willing to shout down speakers and behave against democratic interests.
And I thought all the conspiracy nuts were supposed to be after BO’s birth certificate. But, speaking of coordination, wasn’t Rachel’s big brother, Olbermann, spewing another “special comment” and calling out various lawmakers for not supporting Obamacare? And now Rachel does a looooonnnggg piece on the angry people at the Obamacare townhall meetings. Makes you wonder who Ragin Rachel and Olberbot think have a right to voice their opinion. But that’s just me.
And that’s just MSNBC.

Playing on people’s fears and inciting angry mobs against our (black president), er I mean, our government, to scream, yell and be rude is a disservice to our country.
While you may consider screaming and jumping up and down to drown out debate ‘protest’, most folks consider it temper tantrums.
Proud loud and rude…..! That’s the tea baggers.
Rather than argue policy on its merits you call names, label, insult, intimidate. Teabaggers, birthers, ignorant low class, trash and I can on and on with the nasty insults. No one but you and the One knows anything or what is good for everyone else and we must all be be forced to do what is “good for us”. We need health care reform desperately in this country. But not a rushed garbage bill like the bank bailouts for the political benefit of a president. The public is not happy about trying to cram a secret bill through Congress in July. Can anything be for the public rather than the political capital and ratings of this President. You have no personal clue what people are upset about and simply regurgitating the talking points emailed to you.
Since President Obama’s preferred bill is not effective until 2013 what is the rush. The argument that the health industry wants to kill all reform does not take into account the mood of the public. They want a carefully considered and crafted plan that is effective way before the start of this presidents second term. LBJ had Medicare up and running in 10 months. So why can’t President Obama match an old ignorant hick like LBJ.
Exactly! what is the rush if it’s not about Obama’s political agenda?
We need health care done right. There are many successful examples in Germany, Belgium etc besides the Canadian and British plans that might work well here.
And IMHO, EVERYONE should pay for it. Why do Americans think only the rich should pay for their health care? All these other countries have high taxes that pay for their govt plans. Why not make it like ss or medicare–we all pay into it and we all benefit.
I prefer having no one sign up or in any way be forced to sign up for this new plan (whatever it is) until every member of Congress, the White House, including cabinet and President and his family members be forced to drop their existing coverage and take exactly the same coverage they’re trying to foist on the rest of us.
I agree 1,000% elizabethrc. EVERYONE should be on the plan, otherwise I might think there’s something wrong with it.
hehe “might”
I agree with all of you – universal means universal.
I don’t necessarily think the GOP alone is instigating these shouting matches. The Health Insurance companies have deep pockets and the most to lose. Yesterday I saw a piece on CNN from supposedly an independent iReporter that was:
a) very slickly made
b) a lovefest for their health insurance company.
It was so over the top that when I tuned in I thought it was a commercial – not what passes these days for news.
BTW – is anyone researching the background of these people involved in public protests? Since it’s such a big industry there are a lot of employees and even more friends and relatives.
I’m going to a protest soon. So I automatically get investigated??
What is this, East Germany? Then that would make 0bama —
Oh wait…
If there is going to be 47 million new
customers, why would the insurance companies be the ones behind the protests at townhalls? O-Democrats, you make no sense.
Ahh…finally I see someone else said it! Why would the insurance industries be against this bill where “everyone can keep their insurance” unless the real agenda is to drive OUT private health insurance? Where is the tort reform? Why can’t my doctor, who pays an extraordinary amount of malpractice insurance with his college loan repayments live on a decent wage? The LAWYERS get 1/3 of their clients’ settlements and they’ve done very little to earn it. The REAL culprits here are the lawyers and frivilous lawsuits (not legitimate ones). Wouldn’t want Obama to go after his high-donating constituents though, would we?
Bots…please get a clue. You picked the wrong enemy to blame because you showed the real agenda going on here.
BTW.,.insurance companies don’t want to pay over reasonable and customary on medical care either–THEY have kept the costs down as much as they can with all the built in costs of health care due to the ambulance chasing lawyers.
What frustrates me is the attitude of our leaders now. Congress just purchased 3 luxury jets to transport their big asses around the country and the world at a cost of $200 million hard-earned taxpayer dollars (and Chinese debt). (After bitching about the excesses of the auto execs last fall).
They want to rush through this bill without explaining the merits of it, without winning bi-partisan support. This bill WILL have a huge affect on ALL Americans, not just those who don’t have insurance currently.
And yes, public servants SHOULD get the same plan as the public. Period.
I fear that these leaders look down through their noses at the people they’re supposed to be “serving.”
Calling us MOBS because we’re angry? Gee, I don’t think they had anything but praise for the war protesters. In fact, wasn’t that how B.O. got his START?
The White House is showing contempt for EVERY America. I truly loathe the arrogant attitude B.O. has wrought and that it is spreading like a cancer.
I agree with you Elizabethrc. If it’s such a good plan why don’t all of them switch to the same plan. (They won’t because it’s not about healthcare reform, it’s about control).
Yes, and it’s not about the environment with cap and trade. Stimulus wasn’t about jobs. All of this is just pavement to continue their power base into perpetuity.
good comment ferd. i just don’t think obama will have a second term
And the wonderful thing in all of this is that the politicians and the media swill can’t do a thing about it. These protests are going to be shown in all their democratic glory over the internet and it’s going to be the impetus for Obama’s downfall.
One term is one term too many for this out of his depth phony.
LBJ was hardly a hick. He was known as “Master Of the Senate” and knew the backroom bargaining better than anyone. It took months to craft this in congress. You are noting the year it took to be AFTER the bill passed with all the handshaking and wringing that went into it.
Johnson, a super bright and pro politician was able to this THEN. This is NOW. Different dynamics, larger population, and oh yes, a very inexperienced new President named Obama. He did not and does not have the credibility in congress that Johnson had as Speaker when JFK’s death made him Pres.
Any changes for the better that come out of reforming Healthcare seem far away at present.
It would seem to me that Obama’s first priority is jobs. Since he took office we have lost 6 million jobs and only 10% of the Stimulus money has been spent. A month ago Obama was hawking Cap and Trade saying that our electric bills would so sky high but it was necessary.
Now we need Healthcare Reform or Health Insurance Reform — a name which seems to poll better. This will result in higher taxes and rationed care. But if Congress doesn’t vote on this immediately the sky will fall. And we wonder why people who attend those town meetings are furious. Everytime we turn around another trillion dollars bites the dust and we are no better off.
Yes, these protests by American citizens must really bother the spokestrolls.
This one was just waiting for this subject to jump in FIRST
FIRST!!!
FIRST TO USE THE WORD TEABAGGER TODAY!!!
Surprised they didn’t use birtherm but then I think they want that to fade away eh?
BY his own admission he’s a British citizen you maroon toofless ignint fraudster.
and you bring up race in your first line!this is not about race,if they want broad based support for this mess then agree that they the president and congress be on the same public plan they want the rest of us on without any special provisions for themselves.if not then flat out no way and thats not racist thats equality.
correct, don. according to the Obots, any and all opposition to the Messiah is because he’s black. yawn.
Your president is half white, maybe more than half. So? Who cares what color? Your talking points, starting with race will not fly anymore.
Patriots have taken a page out of your presidents playbook. “Get in their face!” So what? Axelrod created “astroturfing” too. Another page out of the playbook. It worked for your president and ACORN. Use it,we will. So what?
Loud, rude and proud? You are damned right I will be. In your face April and Madcow? You are right. So what?
Marc Ambinder points out the obvious in response to Olbermann and Maddow demogoguery:
http://politics.theatlantic.com/2009/08/it_is_easy_and_comfortable_1.php
fixed
I’ve lived more of the Black Experience than the suit currently known as POTUS.
I’m not a tea bagger, but I feel exactly the same way they do in those town halls.
Let’s be clear, as the One would say, these townhalls aren’t actually opportunities for dialogues. He doesn’t care what you think. He pretends to, but he doesn’t actually.
Is Kathleen Sebelius running around the country to help explain the bill? No, because she herself has little idea what’s in it. She simply thinks it’s important we act and ACT NOW! So basically she — and by extension Obama — are holding PR townhalls to rally support for a healthcare bill that I’m really not interested in.
There are millions around the country who are genuinely and authentically opposed to this legislation, and we don’t need someone like Dick Armey to organize us.
That said, I do think it’s important to be respectful to elected officials; even if they are acting as propagandists and against my best interests. I’d hope that people are more interested in shouting valid criticisms rather than just yelling and screaming.
Yes. And they think we are too stupid to recognize window dressing when we see it. They fail to anticipate, her presence might have made us even angrier!
Can we not use the term “teabagger”?
Teabagging is a sex act and the people who protest and participate in “tea parties” deserve some respect.
Thank you.
Obama believes the reason Hillary Care failed in the 90’s was because it was so specific. Therefore, he has decided to speak in themes rather than specifics. After all it worked with the Stimulus Bill and his take over of the banks. Perhaps this one trick pony has performed his trick too many times–cause the people aren’t buying it. If he forces Congress to pass this bill it will be the end of the Democratic Party. But Obama is a one man band and he could care less if he destroys the Dems. The only mystery left is will the Democrats go over a cliff for Obama?
I might remind you, april, that Obama doesn’t even HAVE a bill yet. He himself doesn’t know what’s in it, because it hasn’t been written.
Besides, if ACORN can gather a crowd and scream in people’s faces, why can’t other Americans?
It was Obama himself who told everybody to “Get in their faces.”
So, what’s your problem, darlin?
right on Mary; democratic caucuses, anyone?
We don’t have a black president. In case you haven’t noticed, he is a Red wanna be dictater.
screw you april, I am a life long democrat and I went to a tea party because I am concerned about the government incurring generational debt to pay off this years political cronies.
A legitimate concern of a thoughtful citizen.
So screw you april. The little a becomes you.
If they owe their cronies let them take it out of their own pocket and stay out of mine. And shouting is the only way to get their attention, believe me I have tried by myself and I have been part of million call movements that fell on deaf ears.
Agree with you 100%.
I am suprised you didn’t say “first” on your post. Why not keep your hypocricy to yourself; as in rude and name calling. Why do it? The people protesting haven’t harmed anyone; however the intolerence and juvenile references truly appear to make a certain anti-first amendment statement. Does that particular name get under my skin, yes, it’s disgusting, debasing and unnecessary;(you should realize it is sexist and piggish as well-would you define the term outloud to your own mother?). Drop the stones and step away from other people’s houses.
Oh, yeah, because “progressives” have never, ever disrupted and shouted in a town hall meeting. Nope.
LMAO! Having been one of those Move-On people who did so over war spending, I can authoritatively say that you are full of crap.
Well, April, I distinctly remember those same charges would have been spot on for the dirtiest, most fraudulently staged, unashamedly racist Obama campaign ever to take place in the history of this country.
Are you trying to say there was decorum and politeness from the 18-34 demographic that fueled that campaign as much as the 91% backing from AA’s and other minority groups? I don’t think so!
They were obnoxious, in your face and behind the scenes thugs, particularly if they were connected to MoveOn.org. Their actions combined with the corrupt DNC, whatever-it-takes-to-win dem leadership (who were old enough to know better), the underground Obama race team, the SC primary change to January, the caucus fraud, the May 29th rules and by-laws committee meeting et al.
Hillary’s supporters stood by in shock and horror as we witnessed first hand political criminals destroy the foundation of our democracy of one person, one vote. As liberals we had to endure being labeled racist as well as our candidate.
Because we were not organized, we were forced to suffer in silence, having near nervous breakdowns in our helplessness to do anything about it.
Next time, April, I and others will be in the streets and at the rallies organized and not taking “no” for an answer.
Fran, it more than not being organized to fight such violence, racist attacks, and corruption. I think no-one, not even Hillary, expected what was unleashed by B0 and his campaign. No-one thought dems would do such things, especially against one of their best and brightest. It was horrific and unconscionable.
And we haven’t forgotten, have we.
The fix was in, B0 has fascist tendencies, our country is in trouble, and we’d better fight now,no matter the names we get called.
Scout, thanks for completing my thoughts precisely! We were all blind-sided, especially with the dem leadership being up to their necks in pushing 0bama and their willingness to commit illegal and even unconstitutional acts to accomplish their goals.
Their role was very well orchestrated and their magic money machine had an endless supply. The only problem is enough has come to light about how that money was raised to hopefully cause them severe problems the next time. The biggest examples of this were the lies they tried to put out there that the $750M raised came from small, under $10 contributions.
The final campaign finance reports showed only 24% was from contributions of under $200. 76% came from $1,000 or more contributors. These included the foreign, even middle-eastern money, as well as the Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse fake contributors in both groups that were accepted and have never been questioned.
Another fund-raising effort was George Soros’s MoveOn.org thuggery that ran their own Obama campaign to the tune of $40M. They had a huge role in getting people to the rallies, stacking the fraudulent caucuses, as well as the county and state conventions in the states that held caucuses and even some primary states like SC.
April..were you one of the “Proud loud and rude…..! tea baggers” at the Caucus I worked at as a co-captain in Iowa?? YOU know, one of the bussed in and all with the same white ipods..that screamed and pushed around little old ladies who were there to caucus for Hillary? Were you one of the obnoxious nasty sob;s that got into little old ladies faces and threatened them ..until they ran out of the caucus crying?? Were you one of those little thugs and teabaggers who would not let people who caucused their entire lives there..and had never seen these african american kids in their retirement community, caucus as they had always done so with their neigbors..but were then infiltrated with 3 bus loads of chicago 18-20 year olds????????
Were you April there?????
I was …
and I was doing my best to hold these thugs back working for Obama to keep from hurting senior citizen women…I was holding these little stinking nasty assed kids back from huting all the seniors at the caucus I worked..
Oh and I was there working for Edwards!
I have never in my ( at the time) 56 year lifetime ever seen such cruelity ..and such angry mobster thugs in my lifetime..
Oh and April..I was an elected delegate in 2004..and a pollwatcher and poll worker in my state Of Florida..I was in Iowa to help Dems get a chance to vote in their caucus..instead I saw the worst thuggery I have ever seen,..
Oh and April.. in 2004 in my state of Florida..where we as dems have seen alot of poll discrimination.. I was a “poll watcher at large” to make sure all minorities were able to walk into a polling place without experiencing discrimination..
But the discrimination I saw in a very large caucus..was the worst shit i have ever seen!
In fact April..when i went home to Fla after the caucus’s in Iowa i sat and creied for days , as i knew my beloved Democratic party no longer existed..it was now nothing but a damn scam of thuggery!
Furthermore April..i ten went on to work in South carolina..again for Edwards and the crap i saw with the Obama camp..was beyond my words..or comprehension as a democrat.
Oh and yes i saw more and more of the same f’ing “white Ipods”
So April..spare us here of your indignation..
don’t piss on our legs and tell us it is raining!
we get “who and what” you are.
April, grown ups can protest any way they want that doesn’t involve violence.
And tell the media, protest isn’t “astroturf.”
Elaine had a great piece on how this played out in the media last night
http://likemariasaidpaz.blogspot.com/2009/08/human-beings-are-not-astroturf.html
And Lisa’s written a must-read.
If Congress can’t handle it, maybe they need to leave their BioDomes a little more often and visit the real world.
Thanks Lisa, I support this article 100%.
They just voted themselves 2 jets for Congress to fly around it. It’s on Drudge today. About 2M of taxpayers money.
Make that 3 jets….. wasn’t there a problem with CEO’s having jets? We have a trillio ndoall debt. Don’t think that makes our government leaders any better than these CEO’s -oHHHHHHHH that’s right – the government can print more money and the CEO’s can’t!
I am so proud of those attending the Town Hall Meetings. These Boomers and Seniors probably marched in the 60’s and probably never thought they would need to be out there to save their Medicare. If Obama’s Healthcare debacle is stopped it will be because of this generation. God Bless You Guys. Scream Loud for Freedom.
The politest dissention against The One is thuggery, while mob violence in support of The One is righteous, civilized protest. I thought everybody knew that. Just look at the first comment …
I’m no republican, but I can tell you that I approve wholeheartedly of the the demonstrations by citizens against their non-hearing, non-caring congresspeople.
It’s a sign of desperation by the democrats and their media shills (Maddow, are you listening?) that they are trying to ascribe motives to the protesters which are anything other than they are: anger at the rush to push through the unread health care fiasco, anger at their representatives who don’t care what their constituents want, and anger at a government which seems hellbent on taking away our rights and freedoms.
These people are not teabaggers! They are citizens! Oh, and by the way Rahm, this is America!
Well said!
obots dish it out but can’t take it.
Same theme in a Washington Times article–anyone upset over healthcare is a pawn of the Republican party, as if none of us are smart enough to make our own calls. Just look at Cash for Clunkers–successful in some ways but typical of all of Obama’s programs so far: cost 3 times more than he planned for; beneficial to some but for those of us who have been responsible all along, it does nothing; will force some people who had not been making payments before to now assume payments they may not be able to keep up with. I could go on, but you get the picture. Arrrgh!
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/aug/05/obama-allies-call-health-care-outrage-a-turf-war/?source=newsletter_must-read-stories-today_more_news_carousel
Unless they are making the interest rates adjustable on these cars, I don’t understand how people are being forced into making payments that they may not be able to keep up with. People are still responsible for their own actions and decisions.
Ellen, the way I see it, if someone is driving around in a clunker, they’re probably doing that for a REASON. In my view this cash 4 clunkers thing is no better than the subprime fiasco. It’s encouraging sub-standard borrowers to take on debt that they most likely cannot afford, by reducing the amount of their loan by $4,500. (Not to mention we’re borrowing money from China to give to Japan (Toyota, Nissan), and forcing our grandchildren to pay for it)
I also don’t like that it’s artificially messing with the auto market. When “free money” enters the picture, weird things WILL happen. College students hoping to buy a cheap car may not find one available. People hoping to sell a used car may find the private seller market unusually tight. And since they’re smashing perfectly operable vehicles into smithereens, parts dealers suffer, as well as charities who depend on donations of autos.
Why stop with autos, why not Cash for Refrigerators? Cash for Furniture?
It seems like a poor use of taxpayer money. I HATE when they spread borrowed money around like that.
Why aren’t we all rich enough to purchase whatever energy efficient mode of transport – I want a new bike – we want? Didn’t we just buy Merrill Lynch? (I have been listening to the Congressional hearings on CSPAN. January 2009 – okay, $20b to ML, $25b to BoA; BoA purchase of ML finalized for $50b…(to the best of my recollection) One of the Reps. from CA came right out and asked Paulson: Looks to me like we bought ourselves ML! (Her constituents are lucky; my Rep. is Barney Frank!)
With only 36% of Dems supporting this bill I bet a great number of Dems are in those town meetings.
yea April
freakas opposed to Shameless, Smarmy & Dense?lmao – really?
dee dee dee
none of the D’s I know that voted for the fraud would defend him now – MOST are chiming in with the REST of us PUMA, Unaffiliated, Indies, Disgruntled Dems, Reps, Conservatives and probably the Libertarians!
There are very few groups still supporting this BAMBI CROOK!
Ladydawnelle I think you have nailed it and why there is so much debate here. There are so many OTHER things that we all don’t agree on. We just all agree on our opinion of Obama.
Your great quote reminds me of the old Apple ad.
Perhaps we should be asking for “A Government for the Rest of Us”.
Proud loud and rude…
No problem with that. I get better phone support from India than I do from my elected representatives.
Although, I can barely make out what either are saying at least India takes my calls and actually tries to “fix” my problem.
I’m so sick of liberal thuggery from the left. The GOP is astroturfing. Big F-ing Deal. The Democrats have left an opening big as Texas for GOP activists to run through.
No one knows what is in the bill, Mr. President. That is YOUR FAULT not the GOP’s fault.
Dems shot themselves in the foot by trying to shove this through like the GOP did with Medicare “Reform.”
Most Americans don’t have a clue what’s in the bill, and they’re tired of having the gov’t force changes onto them that they will have to pay out the nose for in higher taxes later.
If Obama hadn’t already spent $2 Trillion this year alone [BORROWED IT--Since January!] to rescue the financial industry from its criminal behavior, he MIGHT have had an easier go of it with healthcare reform. If Obama hadn’t picked a Treasury Sec who didn’t pay his taxes, he might have had more trust from the American people when it came to healthcare reform. If Obama hadn’t proved himself incapable of being transparent, and if he hadn’t supported Bush policies a dozen times since taking office, he might have had a little bit of moral authority left to fight for health care reform. If Obama hadn’t already scared the American people to death with his treacherous computerized medical records plan–a dangerous death knell to privacy rights for every American–he might not have frightened the American people into distrust within 8 months.
The reason this is failing to muster enthusiasm is because the Democrats haven’t been TRANSPARENT on what it is! No one’s read it; taxpayers want to KNOW what they’re getting.
Something wrong with that Democrats?!
You are so right Mountainaires!
It is about trust- no one trust’s congress or the president or the czars or the media….. I could go on and on.
So the thugs who harassed Hillary supporters at caucuses and the black panther dudes standing with billy clubs at the voting place must be patriotic because they support 0zero. Right. I don’t have to watch that clip by Maddow because I know it’s nothing but crap, per usual.
Dittoes!
The people now wanting their voices heard are not all republicans. Many of them are senior democrats coming out of what used to be a comfortable kind of political sleep. I was a denocrat for over 50 years. No one forced me to protest taxes, healthcare, and try to reclaim what belongs to the people.
Here’s the facts. These are not Republicans alone:
Eighty-one percent (81%) of voters now say the bigger problem for the United States today is not voters’ unwillingness to pay enough in taxes but is instead the unwillingness of politicians to control government spending. This is little changed since May.
Twelve percent (12%) say the problem is that voters are unwilling to pay more in taxes.Ninety-two percent (92%) of Republicans and 86% of unaffiliated voters see the unwillingness of politicians to control government spending as the bigger problem, as do 67% of Democrats.
Seventy-eight percent (78%) of U.S. voters say it is at least somewhat likely that taxes will be raised on the middle class to cover the cost of health care reform. Fifty-six percent (56%) say it’s very likely.
Forty-two percent (42%) of Americans say every one in the United States should have free health care. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 44% disagree.
However, by a two-to-one margin (60% to 27%), Americans reject free health care for all if it means changing their own coverage and joining a program administered by the government
Amen Betty!
I am a registered Democrat. Obama supporters and the DNC are assuming all those opposed and protesting his POLICIES are republicans (because after all Democrats will or should stick together for the good of the party right?) I am opposed to most of his policies. I didn’t vote for him, I checked his record and voting history, his associations and believed him to be a phony. He is a phony, just with people who support him blindly (those same people angry that Bush wasn’t questioned on things are willing to allow another Politician not to be questioned). And if you oppose the president then you are either republican anyway or racists. Which is absolutely ridiculous, however, they do not want to believe they have disillusioned members (Voters not politicians) of their own party, it couldn’t happen.
Classifying them as Republicans or right-wing is a way of marginalizing them. Won’t work because it is not true; people are finally waking up.
Did you see this article in American Thinker about the White House asking people to report on their neighbors?
http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/08/citizen_informants.html
Below is excerpt:
Now on the White House website posted by Macon Phillips comes an eerily similar request for citizens to inform on their neighbors. It states,
“There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to the end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.”
Read this again carefully. The government of the United States is openly asking citizens to report rumors, the contents of casual conversation, and the contents of emails. They decry the fact that they are unable to “keep track” of the communication between citizens effectively and are asking for
Sorry, I must have been typing my post when you were posting yours since mine below is basically a duplicate of yours.
And you’re right, it’s scary. It’s one thing to ask for information about news organizations or prominent political people passing along “fishy” information but regular citizens??
The “fishy” thing strikes me as having 0 input. It is like when he said “silly season” or “stupidly” or “calibrate” Odd. I mean how many men say silly season? Strange.
Wonder if his oneness descended from his throne to write this? It was calibrated stupidly to be used in silly season to catch fishy. I think he may have caught a whale.
One more comment: it was unruly thugs and mobs that started and fought the American Revolution.
Damn right!
Maybe history should repeat itself.
the people of paris had it right in 1944 with the call aux barricades maybe we need to emulate them.
Does anyone think ,with all the past false racism charges during the primary, right up to now,that obama and his team want a racial problem because it sure seems like that to me. Attacking people for dissenting against anything. saying it is racist is bound to, and has caused racial problems that were not there before?
Does anyone know anything about the documentary, about the fraud and thugs, from the primary that was supposed to be released? They ought to get those u tube videos that showed what happened and compare them in the media.
Whether these protests are orchestrated, audience plants, well-rehearsed, it matters not. I haven’t seen a single gun to any of their heads.
It doesn’t seem to matter to Maddow and all the other thugs that 0’s road shows, rallies to sell the Pelosi agenda, always have well-screened audiences of obsessed 0bots happily accepting his feeble explanations of the bills already passed as well as the healthcare debacle. There has not been one protester at his appearances, not one. There is a very good reason for that. His handlers make sure he is always “preaching to the choir”.
Yes, and we should remember that those people are our spiritual, if not actual, ancestors.
It is thuggery coming from the WH and Obama. How dare he try to put down our right to protest. This is still America and we still have Freedom of Speech, unless he has secretly done away with that too. I stand with the protesters. The American People need to be able to read this bill before it is ever voted on. This is a major change and it will effect everyone. If we don’t stand our ground and demand respect now, its over.
Damn right owllwoman! I say if our Government, especially Obama, doesn’t like all the protesters, they should just get the hell out of our country. They can either flee or get used to it because there will be more. BTW, I am a protester and a tea party attendee and I am not a Republican, Rachel Madcow! I was a democrat all my life until 2008 and would vote democrat for H.R. Clinton if given the chance in 2012! There aren’t too many others, dems or gop, that will get my vote so let’s get some new blood. Any in the protest crowd want to make a run for it? I’m a patriot, ready to help elect patriots. No more losers!
Typical arrogant personalities of the “One” and his followers. If we don’t agree with them and worship them, we’re stupid!
Charles Krauthamer said last night (paraphrasing) that when it’s conservatives protesting it’s called an angry mob, but when it’s liberal protestors, it’s a grass roots movement.
I think there are plenty of people who voted for Obama at these meetings. The WH is trying to play it as if everyone protesting is a right wing wacko. And in fact Robert Gates said at a WH press conference that the attendees were basically paid flunkies of the insurance companies. Way to smear regular people concerned about taxes, where their money is going and how changes in health care could affect them.
And what does the WH do??? They ask for people to report others who are passing along “fishy” information about the health insurance reform plan. I expect they will then start blackballing or quietly trying to discredit such people and/or smear their names or reputations. It’s the Chicago Way of course and exactly what Obama has done throughout his political career. When he feels he’s losing at something, discredit or smear his opponents.
“There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/Facts-Are-Stubborn-Things/
I think it smacks of police state tactics and I don’t like it.
I don’t like it either. It’s eerily reminiscent of the primaries and the way they smacked down anyone who disagreed or tried to raise objections to BO, as well as their constant re-framing of reality to fit their objectives.
Sorry, tango, I disagree that the WH is “playing” anything. I think they are true believers themselves. They are so brain-washed living in that bubble with their followers getting a daily dose of the MSNBCOBAMA fantacy world and the almost as bad CNN, that it is no wonder they think we are all wacked out for questioning their perfect president.
I keep being told that MSNBC and CNN are only doing what they do for money. I don’t buy that either. I think those people are true believers as well. It is like living in the twilight zone. It is hard to fathom that these people are so disconnected from reality when it comes to this very imperfect man who is making this up as he goes along, with Pelosi’s help, of course.
I guess Madcow was sleeping last year and missed these protests.

The company that pays Rachel Maddow’s salary is General Electric, and they stand to make billions of dollars from Obamacare.
Maddow knows this, and paints anyone not supporting it as a “crazy.”
But we all know she’s just pimping for her corporate sponsor.
So is Schultz. So is Olbermann.
It’s all about profits and government contracts for General Electric.
Maddow’s just a corporate whore. But she thinks the peasants out in the country are too stupid to know that.
We’re far from stupid, Rachel.
It`s time for BOOMER POWER. We did it in the 60`s and 70`s and we still can.
Exactly Harp, I have been thinking that for days, we are quite a large group and we have had a strong voice many times; the hard part is to get people to understand that in order to be heard, we have to stand united. I know it is difficult for many, who have had their spirit and hearts broken many times over, these past years. I say stand and be counted, and be heard.
My thought are this. Every senior that is a member of AARP divorce them. From what I can gather, they are in agreement with this administration. They may have been a good thing to start with, but often good orginizations get hijacked. Send messages with our pocketbooks. To AARP, to GE to others. Plus continue with our protests. Heck a pitchfork has more than one tine.
They are for old people the same as the rest of the insurance companies are… they dump ‘em on medicaid and the government the first chance they get.
Well said. That is exactly it.
I wrote a letter to the head of NBC/MSNBC in Feb of 2008 asking why they were so obviously pushing Obama so hard. That was “fishy” to me. Never got a response.
I wonder why.
I used to call them sometimes a couple times a day I was so angry about their propaganda machine and of the bashing of Hillary and Bill and us!1 I used to think they might hear what people thought and make a change. Well, I guess that was a joke
Oh! Now THIS is Funny!!!!!
Obama was 48 years old; but his cake didn’t have 48 on it, it had another number. Take a look at the decorated cake for Obama’s birthday.
http://www.nbcwashington.com/around-town/food-drink/Stylish-Prez-Hideous-Birthday-Cake-52458537.html
Let them eat cake…
That is one ugly ass cake. I mean, really, I would really like to know if any other president had the presidential seal on his freakin’ birthday cake? I mean, I can see at the innaugural ball or something, but this is his BIRTHDAY….
Tacky, tacky, tacky … Just what we’ve come to expect!
Obie’s birthday cake celebrated his ascendance as
44th President–not his 48th birthday. Typical of
his world view…eh?
I was expecting 57.
I was too. Hahahaha
Well said to everyone. We don’t want to rush into anything here. We need to hold ALL of our representatives feet to the fire – regardless of party affiliation.
Won’t watch her. And because she sold her self out for fame and money over principle, this is where she stays.
For the brief moment she started covering the reality of Obama, maybe the few koolaid drinkers that only found MSNBC because of Obamamann and Maddow because of their probamamoting, got dismayed and sent in their email’s of threats, you know, what Obots are only good for, she fell back to what her viewers only know her as, being, I’m sure, most who followed her these many years past, new her as a different person, want no part of the new Maddow. Check me in that column. It’s good to see, like politicians, when you give them power, what they do with it.
Got to know what your enemy thinks. The Marxist liberals have no idea what the center right is doing because they are stuck on MSM and the Huff report.
Yeah we’re so dumb yet we run businesses employ people invest wisely and contribute greatly to society.
Can you here the rats squealing..Right on schedule!
Seattle Moss:
I love hearing the extreme left squeal.
That means the protesters are having an impact.
I didn’t get my marching orders from any Republican organization. Most of them are idiots.
I’ve attended two anti-tax rallies and plan to go to some more. At this point, I don’t trust either of the parties.
Oh, and I DID read most of the first draft of the Healthcare bill, and if it passes we are all screwed.
By the way, April: tea bagging is an act that only people like YOU are familiar with. Now go back to your momma’s basement and play with your Obama Bobblehead doll.
Where did you read the bill? Do you have a link. I, and maybe others here (?) would like to read it.
BTW, your comment about only people like april are familiar with “tea bagging” seems like a gay slur to me. So I’m going on record as saying I don’t appreciate that at No Quarter.
Here’s the first copy that was out. Sorry I haven’t been at the computer for a while.
This may have changed, but this is what I read.
BILLS-111hr3200IH.pdf
I don’t know if you can open that or not.
I got it in July.
It wasn’t a gay slur.
And since April used the “slur” in the first place, she must know what it means.
I actually had to find out later, after I was CALLED a tea bagger. Which I am not.
Obviously she’s more familiar with the term than I am. Is it okay for her to use the slur but not me?
Interesting double standard.
I tried to attach the PDF to the Health Bill but I don’t know how to on this post. I’ll try to find a link…
Thank you for looking for the link.
I hear nails on the blackboard when that “tea bagger” term is thrown around, and Anderson Cooper is really on my list for bringing it to the forefront on his program. I don’t have a double standard, I dislike hearing it from anyone! I’m sorry you got labeled that way. BTW, I had no idea what it meant either!
Thanks again for looking for the link. I’ve been looking online and haven’t found the bill. So much for B0 promises of transparency and letting the public read bills. Yes we can (lie)! ought to be his real slogan.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJEPDwGVirQ&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ereclusiveleftist%2Ecom%2F&feature=player_embedded
Sorry OT but funny spoof on terrible journalism and the recent WAPO vid.
Well Maddow does have one thing right, Republicans aren`t smart enough. Why doesn`t she tell the truth that it is the centrist democrats that are leading the way in showing these repubs how to go about showing your dissent? Because that would admit the left wing of the democrat party is in trouble. The 18 million cracks in the ceiling haven`t returned to the fold and don`t intend to anytime soon. Screw you Maddow! I got 99 problems and a bitch isn`t one of them isn`t thuggery? The Caucuses weren`t mob rule? Pelosi and Brazile weren`t dirtbags? GE who owns MSNBC is just state run media for 0bama/Emanuel. If you say anything else Maddow your fired. Those are the marching orders. We know it and you know it. Drop dead,a$$kisser.
And let’s not forget a mess of PO’d Independents.
When the 0b0tic regime is finally debilitated, the sycophantic MSM drones will have nowhere to go.
These nitwits don’t give a rat’s behind about our nation, about policy, about the Constitution. To them it’s all a big fat popularity contest. And because they still have access to a national mic, they can continue to spew their propaganda, blissfully oblivious to the fact that they are marginalizing themselves minute by minute.
When Rahm, Axelrove et al go down, a whole lotta media whores are going down with them.
Organizing 101…HOPing to intimidate and scare citizens in to submission, that’s why. She jumped on the Hopium train with Obamaman too long ago for any hope of normalcy.
It would seem to me that you can’t sell a product if you attack the customer. The Democrats had all 3 branches of government and they blew it by attacking the American people. Yes, I will never forget the day that Nancy Pelosi called those attending Town meetings a mob who carried Nazi symbols.
So the black panthers were not prosecuted for harassing and intimidating the voters. People are protesting health care reform and we are being called thugs. Now that’s what you call Democracy.
I got two letters from my Congressman not by email but USPS, that he will not be supporting either Cap and Trade and the current Health Care bills.
She is just acting STUPIDLY!
All they need do is look at the polls right in front of their faces to see that the country does not support Obama.
He has lost the buyers remorse republicans that voted for him. He has lost MOST independents. He has lost buyers remorse democrats that voted for him instead of Hillary.
They insist he had some sort of mandate from the people which is in itself is a lie. How could there have been a mandate to his radically left position when he ran as a moderate? The country in fact did NOT give him a mandate to become a socialist nation, and they are telling them so in now loud tones.
Poll: 71% say Obama policys have driven up the deficit. Whole lotta GOP in America? Or they just over polled rightwingers, racists, birthers?
Developing story on Drudge.
Correction : That was 3 Gulfstream Jets for ferrying members of Congress. ummmmmm aside from the 2M purchase how much is it going to cost to ferry them and where to?
thats a $200 MILLION purchase.
You are right
200 million sounds more right. Pelosi wouldn’t ride in a two million dollar plane. What would people think?
The Tides Foundation would not want her on a 2 million dollar plane either. Pols are expensive.
And it is even more. Our Founding Fathers not only encouraged protests, if you read their volumes of letters and discourses it becomes clear that they believed it was a responsibility of citizenship.
The Dims are so dense that they cannot read the tea leaves the polls are making so clear. The American people do not trust them and they are rightfully concerned that their legislators with their Administrative puppet don’t even know what is in the bills they are proposing. This protest season is just starting. Stay tuned.
I wrote a commentary of this whole phenomenon if you would like to have a look.
Democrats: An Affront to Freedom
My congressional Rep. Tammy Baldwin was on the radio this morning echoing the charge that all opposition to their health care bill is coming from “paid GOP operatives.” The tea party attendees were similarly dismissed as being part of a GOP conspiracy, while at the same time being chided for lacking a consistent viewpoint. So which is it?
To borrow a grassroots chant which Rep. Baldwin should recall, “This is what democracy looks like!”
Speaking of Thuggery? Response from the New Black Panther Party member who was acquitted of Voter Intimidation by Eric Holder’s Dept. of Justice.
<or“I has waited all my life for the day that Strong Black men could stand outside a voting poll in a Honk neighborhood and beat republiKKKan voters with a baseball bat to keep the mother*#^*@%s from voting for they racist candidate and walk away scott free and be a hero in the Black community…..and that day finally here. It time we up the ante on these white mother*#^*@%s and take it to the next level.”
How about a Special Comment on that comment!
Olberloud would criticize the “RepubliKKKans” for inciting that sweet, innocent BP Party menber to say such things.
Do you have a link?
I’m just curious, that incident occurred in my neck of the woods.
He also had a FaceBook or MySpace entry among the things he said was kill all the krakkers. But he will be back as a poll watcher in 2010, billy club and all. Thanks to intervention by zeros Judicial appointee. I don’t have a link but Google will take you there. Many are outraged at it, but of course we are just orchestrated by the GOP. Any comparison to code pink is insulting,
The little black panther punk is saying too much and come 2010, if he is a poll watcher, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see HIM intimidated by “Whitey” this time around.
People of low intelligence join organizations like the black panthers. Where else do they have to go? He’s a pathetic loser who only feels strong when he can swing a club at innocent people. I understand he also tried to intimidate old black people at the polling place. My hero!
It amazes me that so many blacks thought that when Obama became president, he would sway laws in their favor, make apologies for and overlook their criminal behaviour and dole out money to them for not working. Oh, I forgot…he is doing precisely that! Another hero!
Message for the little jerk: I won’t be intimidated. Sure, you can hurt me with your club, but I’ll see you in prison, if you do. Off the streets with scum isn’t such a bad tradeoff.
Democrats can dish it but they can’t take it. That’s all this is about. As an Independent I love seeing Americans (Democrats, Republicans, and everyone in between) getting angry at their officials, telling them off, letting them know that they can’t just shove something down our throats and expect a polite “thank you.” It means the citizenship in general is alive and well. Go America! I see no reson to go silently into the governments dark night of mystery.
I have had it with all these sanctimonious hypocrite bastards. They all need to be run out of town and until they are they will keep screwing the American public.
Don’t include all democrats in this! I am a lifelong one and I am outraged at what the party did this last primary right up to now. The only reason I haven’t become independent is that I want to be able to vote in the primaries in pa. It is that racism club they have been holding over peoples heads. they threatened representatives and senators also.
I haven’t the stomach to consider anything that MSNBC says or does…life is too precious…and so is my time…i would rather be scrubbing my bathroom floor with a toothbrush..I am so done with those freaks…all of them…and if they would not get any coverage by other media venues they would be done too..
they are about as appealing to me as a bad case of eczema…they should go away and stay there! The end!
Just tell MSM that we are all community organizers.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
After finally watching the Madcow video (had to do it on an empty stomach) two things struck me. One, the lobbying firm that sent out the fake NAACP and Hispanic letters probably did so because that assured that the letters would be opened and read. And two, the guest Robinson is not exactly someone I would call an unbiased political analyst. I seem to recall being called a racist by this guy more than a few times. This guy is so far up Obama’s ass that maybe anal-cyst is a more appropriate term.
Do these look like organized thugs to you?
These are pissed off DEMOCRATS.

Thank you.
I was not aware the voter intimidation occurred in a “Honk” neighborhood, and frankly I’m surprised that the Philly cops weren’t all over this at the time of the incident.
It’s almost funny how these useful idiots have fallen right in line with what The Man expects from them.
Remember, Panthers…
(or is it PANTHAS)
The “honk” latte liberals giveth…
and the honk latte liberals taketh away.
I know that many of these comment boards have been overtaken by GOP apologists, but this post is just all kinds of crazy. Do you honestly think that these demonstrations at the townhalls are just random outbursts? They’re about as spontaneous as the Code Pink stupid human tricks on the Hill. Some of you who are so quick to tell those who disagree with you to stop being a “bot” or “koolaid drinker” or apologizing for the egregious Limbaugh or Beck need to face the fact that YOU need to put the koolaid down.
huh?
Looks like Ms. Myopic is back to scold all of us non-believers.
So is it the fact that some pissed off people did some pushing back that bothers the libs?
Pissed off or scared? Which is it?
We are all tea-baggers and community organizers now. Therefore, we are all each as qualified as anyone else to have opinions and even be elected as POTUS. So, the slippery slope turns out to be a bobsled track… who knew?
A bobsled track on top of an avalanche…
What’s it been, 32-33 consecutive days that Mr. Socialism has been in the negative approval numbers on Rasmussen Presidential Tracking Poll?
Can you say karmic retribution for 5-31-08?
Many of us aren’t buying the “astroturf” meme because we KNOW friends and neighbors who are going to these things and protesting. Because we talk to our neighbors, and families, and co-workers, and are very aware that they are PISSED because they have reason, not because some newsletter told them to be.
Is there some organizing and taking advantage of the discontent being done by GOP groups? Sure. Just as some very radical liberal groups leeched onto the broad-based anti-war protests to advance their own agendas. But that does not mean that the anger and discontent were not REAL, or were manufactured from nothing at all.
agree that those attending are fine people, but if the leadership is pure neocon-in-tricorne clothing, that’s still who they’ll vote for: not an outcome I want.
No, they won’t. Why do you CONTINUE to assume that all those people are stupid sheep? They are no stupider or less informed on average than you are. I’m sure a few are, but most are not. Why would they go vote for a neo-con just because said neo-con helped organize a protest?
Hell, I protested against the Iraq war alongside some real freakazoid extreme libertarian nuts. Doesn’t mean I got “sucked in” to their world view, or would vote for an extreme libertarian for office.
well I hope you are right, but imo if they’re willing to show up at a neocon party instead of do the legwork to actually start their own, that’s a poor sign for autonomy and independent thinking.
I worry that by the time the election rolls around they’ll be so used to thinking of these people as the opposition to BHO that they’ll vote in them or the candidates they’ve promoted. The bots thought BHO was opposition to Bush but in reality he was backed by the very same people that backed Bush. Yet a lot of people still insist BHO is some kind of lefty marxist rather than an authoritarian/ fascist.
I’m not optimistic.
I do believe your secret decoder ring needs upgrading.
LOL!
Seeing GOP shadows where there aren’t any…isn’t that akin to being a conspiracy theorist?
LOL!!
I’m a life-long Democrat and most likely older than you. I’m world traveled and actually read. DC Media Girl I understand you need your job. So go do it. Turn over the rocks as you would with any other administration.
I’ve defended Obama when I thought he might be right only to be disappointed later.
No party is pure and perfect and neither is Obama (see Alice Palmer a black Democrat).
Obama and everyone in DC works for the American people.
The media, DC Media Girl, is mentioned in the Constitution because your job is to speak truth to power no matter the party.
So stop saying people here are GOP apologists. Many of us are current or former Democrats and not all of us are white. Deal with it.
Poor DC,
No apologists here..Just activists!
I know you must be very lonely and frustrated having to apologize for bottom feeders like Madcow and Overbite.
I told you the backlash was coming.
This is not about health care…
This is about the value of our currency!!
Oooh, DCMediagirl, you SCARE me.
You better report this site to your slave masters in DC.
American Citizens post here, and from what I can see, NONE of the people who post here drank the Obama Koolaid, whether they are Democrats or Republicans.
actually dcmedia girl, you might try not being so nasty to all the posters on here. and the koolaid isn’t drunk here just tea.
and dc let me add, you sound very desperate. not attractive at all.
Hey DCMedia, you want another pulse on the mood of America?
Go http://www.ktla.com and read the comments on the controversial Obama as Joker poster. Los Angeles, the place that was overwhelmingly for some messiah love. My, how quickly the wheel in the sky turns.
Really, it appears that there wasn’t enough time to do any organizing of those folks. Oh, and be sure to put on you’re flack jacket.
You’re just about as wrong as you can be with this comment. These were audiences of old people, people from a wide cross section of the city, and economic spectrum. I am amazed that you would try to paint them as you have.
I’m surprised at you, who usually take such a measured approach to situations.
Elizabethrc, I actually haven’t seen DCMedia take a measured approach for a very long time. Her comments become more and more obnoxious, but this one was really over the top. I remember that stupid Lieberman and Democratic Sandbox article and just shake my head. DC, did you not watch the thuggery during our primary season and then this general election? Have you not been watching what this administration is doing to our country? Get a clue.
dcmedia has been way out of bounds for a long time. very rude with anyone who doesn’t agree.
The people who bit the hardest on the “hope on hope” pitch are going to be the most angered when they finally admit to themselves that they have been had. Most of us here already have known for over a year what some are just now figuring out.
You may well be right. Sounds like she’s going the way of Taylor Marsh.
I believe that they are honest outbursts from decent citizens with legitimate concerns. It doesn’t matter to me which party they belong to. If they are helped by coordination from this group or that then so be it. We, the American people having our future stolen by a Democratic in name only party with a hidden agenda, need all the help we can get.
Well, if the protests truly are GOP sponsored, GOOD! It’s about time they used the well practiced tactics of the liberal, progressive left. How many times have conservatives like Coulter and Horowitz been shouted down and even assaulted? How many liberal campus protests have caused the cancellation of conservative speaking engagements? The answer to both questions is “countless times”.
I think the nightstick wielding New Black Panther standing in front of a Philidelphia voting location should be the poster child for the open minded, tolerant, and enlightened progressive liberal left.
Apologist? I’m not apologizing for the protests, I’m celebrating them. The silent majority is finding it’s voice.
DC Media Girl–Why do you have to be so nasty? You just sound like a very angry person.
My friends (all progressive Democrats with a few exceptions) want health care reform but not THIS bill. Have you actually read it? It’s a mess–and you don’t have to be a Republican to complain about it. You just need to have read it.
DCMediaGirl–Exactly what do you expect legitimate protesters look like?
These people are real. They just don’t want a monstrous, freedom-crushing, inflexible, immoral, unfundable, unread bill FORCED upon them while their rulers are unwilling to abide by the very same program–deal with it.

I guess April will be reporting us to the White House since they are asking citizens to inform on others now. See below paragraph now on the white house website:
“There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.”
Yes; and the disinformation begins with you, cleverly referencing the bill that you want passed by its real name, health insurance reform, when people believe you are discussing health care reform.
If it’s not everyone in; no one out, I’m not interested.

Pun intended.
And THEN the cameras will come into our homes to make sure that we comply.
Thank you, Dear Leader! I am too stupid to care for myself. Thank you!
May there be some ogranization behind some of the protests, sure. That is part of the game on both sides of the fence. Activist groups get out their numbers and get them to events.
But if you read the polls (and most folks here do), you know that over half the population wants nothing to do with this legislation and is very concerned about government spending.
So, why would anyone think this is fake anger? People are pretty pissed off about a congress that can pass 1,000 page bills without even reading the contents.
These outcries about the mobs are just another way to divert attention away from a public that does not think the President and Congress are capable of fixing this over the long term, let alone right now.
This same government put together a plan to help distressed homeowners modify their loans and since March only 13,000 loans have been modified. Over that same period Over 700,000 foreclosure applications were started and banks repossesed 220,000 homes.
That is one small set of people and one direct problem. And they can’t get that right. So now, we are to expect them to fix health care for all in the same amount of time it took them to put together the emergency housing legislation?
I don’t think so… And if I see my congressman, I will let my feelings be known. And no one is paying me to say it.
Noc, It is like the Group W bench;
.
How is it that I am hearing “they were planted” when the WHOLE room is booing? I ask myself…”Self, did BO’s bussed in people make a wrong turn?”
O boy–we’re going to do the 60’s again–that was fun! Except this time we’re not going to turn on, tune in, and drop out–this time it’ll be activism all the way. Fetch me my walker: it’s full speed ahead! And some of those youngsters can tag along too, if they can keep up.
Teak–how many people in this world are thinking of “Alice’s Restaurant” nowadays? The few, the proud. Good night, little Arlo, good night.
“You can get whatever you want……unless Obama runs the restaurant”
Noc, we can’t all be OBots. At least some folks still have a shred of common sense and dignity. At least for them the minimum wage increase just went through.
oowawa; 5 miles up and five miles down.
The group ‘O’ bench then?
Mega Dittos and totally Groovy.
Yes, I think it was aimed (no pun intended) at the internet, Christian beliefs and guns. Do I think there is such a thing as mind control? Yes I do.
Just call me tin foil hat person if you wish. But it is playing out accross the world. Young people willing and eager to go to their death. Why? Who puts the thought in their heads that they are going to be in heaven with dozens of virgins at their beck and call? Follow the money. Money and most of all control.
There have been an increase in shootings, Chicago has been hard hit. Could it be staged or provoked? Is it that Chicago has such strict gun control that citizens are powerless to protect themselves.
Never forget Germany’s lesson. Never let the heros who have gone before us have died in vain.

Senator John Cornyn sent a letter to Barack Obama asking him to intervene in the flag@whitehouse.gov matter.
Senator Cornyn notes

There you go again….
You suggest someone (but not you, I guess) should be taking the names of everyone at every town hall meeting in every town and city and state in America and running background checks to see who they are and for whom they work (assuming they all work for someone else).
I could tell you, but let me ask you the question, just for fun:
What does that sound like to you? Can you think of a name for it?
Is there a country you’d like to live in that does that sort of thing (assume anyone disagreeing with the government must be a subversive element — to be photographed, identified and investigated)?
There are a few. Iran, perhaps? A little hot there at times but very good at keeping tabs on who’s who and keeping them in their place.
Uh, I’ll bet it ends in “ism” and is not “birtherism.”
Good comment, IndieDogg.
http://www.redstate.com/
has got several good articles. Too many for me to cut and paste over here. The first 6 or 7 articles deal directly with this subject. The rest are some things that every Patriot should become aware of.
Why do these people have to show up and stand up and scream and shout and interrupt and not let other people talk? Why do you all approve of those tactics? There were other people in those townhalls who wanted to ask other questions about the bills, and they can’t because the meetings were taken over by yelling angry groups. Why do you like these actions? Why are the other half of the townhalls denied a voice? Why is that right? How is it democratic?
Why are all the congress people just reading from Pelosi’s memo cards? How is that right or democratic? Somebody needs to remind congress who their boss is… and it’s not that lady from the wax museum.
Their boss is not you, it is the people as a whole. Some people like the health care bill, some don’t. Why do only the people who dislike it get to speak? You honestly approve of drowning out the voice of people who disagree with you, denying them the right to question their Congressmen and women?
Straw man. No one is saying anyone should be drowned out. But those in power already have communication outlets and friendly press. They won’t get drowned out. Only the opposition is ever in danger of getting drowned out.
No matter what party.
You casn’t just say ’strawman’ and be done with it. People WERE being drowned out, you can watch the videos of it. Some people were quietly sitting in the rooms waiting their turn while others yelled over the representative and didn’t allow him/her to speak. That’s no strawman, it’s afact. You either support that type of behavior or you don’t.
And that’s regular people being drowned out, silenced, not allowed to question their representatives. Regular people aren’t in power, they have a right to participate in their townhalls. They were denied that right by angry yelling groups. It shouldn’t be allowed and most certainly shouldn’t be supported.
No matter what party.
Gee,
tell us the difference between the townhall shout-downs and the ones from the elections…
http://www.michellemalkin.com
Tell us where Saul Alinsky’s brainwashing was displayed in all it’s nastiness.
So it was wrong then but it’s right now?
Are you part of Obama’s movement?
Did you get your propaganda letter, yet?
You answer this question first.
Is it okay with you that Obama supporters can behave badly but no one else can?
You’ve yet to answer my question. Why is it patriotic now but reprehensible then?
Apparently you didn’t read my first response. Those in power typically have many ways of “speaking” that those out of power don’t. It doesn’t matter which party is in power – they typically try to bully the opposition.
They always say some version of “I love right to speak, but [the other side] abuses it so and is just soooo wrong and soooo stupid.
So, BO and his minions are no better in this respect than Bush. And Olbermann and Maddow no better than O’Reilly and Limbaugh.
Second verse, same as the first.
Normal citizens that go to townhalls aren’t “in power.” Normal citizens that went to those townhalls were denied their right to participate by other citizens who felt they were more important. That behavior is being supported by the vast majority of commenters here. I’m simply asking how a person can justify that stance.
Another crock of manure from an obamabot. Why don’t you pollute some other website with your claptrap?
And the “other citizens” weren’t “normal?”
How would you know?
What are you talking about? Almost every person in those room was a normal citizen. There was only one elected representative, up on stage. Half of the crowd yelled and screamed while the other half were denied the right to a conversation with their representative. Why is that good?
You said “normal people” were “denied their right to participate by other citizens.”
Obviously you separate the two. Your words.
Yeah the New Panther Party threatening little old ladies not to vote is so patriotic….cough….cough.
So it wwas wrong then but it’s right now?
The fact that you cannot see the difference between the two instances, should be cause for concern. There is no comparison between what happened during the election with threats and actual acts of assault, vs. a group of people, loudly voicing their displeasure with this administration.
Pot- one is a legal act, of protest and the other is an excuse to bully voters. A little honesty please.
And I’ve never nor will I ever support voter intimidation. So why even bring it up when discussing current events? They have very little to do with each other.
Just to be clear Katmoon, Karma is the one that made the comparison, not me.
You are assuming that those people are only there because of the health care industry tricking them into being there and being upset.
The politicians haven’t read the bill and the people are upset at the bs being blown up their arse by them. How can they explain the bill they don’t read or write?
Two totally different situations….so your question is wrong.
A thug who threatens violence against someone trying to vote is wrong. Someone tired of the lies out of Washington and using their voice to show outrage is their Constitutional free speech right. Like it or not.
And just for good measure.
The politicians should be doing their homework rather than offer the same nothing that Obama offered during his press conference on the topic. Nothing of substance is discussed or offered. That is wrong. To offer bs as substance and expect the people to accept it without complaint is wrong.
You are essentially upset with the people at these town halls knowing that nothing of substance is being discussed so they yelled slogans back. You are upset the bs theater was interrupted rather than being upset at the bs.
Good luck with that….
>You are assuming that those people are only there because of the health care industry tricking them into being there and being upset.
I made no such assumption, nor implied it anywhere in any of my comments. I’m sure they have legitimate issues with the bill. I’m simply disagreeing with their methods of voicing them.
>Two totally different situations….so your question is wrong.
My question is wrong? What does that mean?
>Someone tired of the lies out of Washington and using their voice to show outrage is their Constitutional free speech right. Like it or not.
So we shouldn’t have any respect for our fellow citizens? “I’m angry so damn these other people here with a different purpose than me!” That’s OK?
>The politicians should be doing their homework rather than offer the same nothing that Obama offered during his press conference on the topic. Nothing of substance is discussed or offered.
How do you even know that? The Congressmen aren’t being given the opportunity to speak.
Yes, you did make the assumption and/or implied it in this post. By referring to them as regular people being ‘drowned out’ by ‘yelling groups’ and even stated what party they are from with the ‘No matter what party.’ sentence.
~~~~~
“And that’s regular people being drowned out, silenced, not allowed to question their representatives. Regular people aren’t in power, they have a right to participate in their townhalls. They were denied that right by angry yelling groups. It shouldn’t be allowed and most certainly shouldn’t be supported.
As far as the rest my posts stand. I am sure no one other than you has difficultly in understanding the meaning.
>Yes, you did make the assumption and/or implied it in this post. By referring to them as regular people being ‘drowned out’ by ‘yelling groups’ and even stated what party they are from with the ‘No matter what party.’ sentence.
Uh, the “No matter what party” was an echo of a previous comment, which you can see if you read up the thread a bit. I have no idea what party anyone in the room was. And everyone in the room besides the representative is a regular person, that phrase was in response to another commenter proclaiming that “the people in power” will always have their voice. The “regular people” are the opposite of the people in power. That can also be seen if you read up the thread a bit. I’m sorry but you’ve misunderstood.
I didn’t misunderstand anything, in fact you just confirmed it.
She stated the ‘no matter what party’ was in terms of the opposition party which is the Republicans right now.
‘Regular people’ being ‘drowned out’ by ‘yelling groups’ that practice ’shouldn’t be allowed’ or ’supported’.
Now in your new revised version….everyone is a ‘regular person’ in the room except the representative. But apparently those regular people’s right to free speech still ’shouldn’t be allowed.’
LOL…I understood just fine thanks.
No, you chose to intentionally misread comments so you could gloss over the fact that you’ve been totally unable to answer any question and that YOU were the one that equated voter intimidation with the townhall protestors.
Stop projecting…PotvsKtl.
You have intentionally been misreading everyone’s comments.
My posts stand very clearly.
ACORN – now there’s another shining example of patriotism in action.
Oh wait, not patriotism – thuggery – yeah. They are even being arrested for that …
Sauce for the goose, pot. Your propaganda doesn’t work on those who actually think. You might have better luck convincing your colleagues on skid row about supporting That One and his agenda. You certainly won’t convince anyone here. Unlike you, we don’t do the goose-step here.
I’m not trying to convince anyone of anything, I’m asking a question. Why support tactics whose end result drowns out the voice of people who are also at the townhall but might want to ask different questions about the topic under discussion? So far the only responses I’ve received are non-sequiters about ACORN and Black Panthers. Nobody is glorifying their actions. They don’t have a thing to do with the topic.
Black Panthers, ACORN, Obama minions vs townhall shouters.
Your point?
By the way, that bias of yours is still hanging out flapping in the wind…
Once again you’re unable to participate in a civil conversation, unable to even have a conversation, preferring instead to throw out a series of insults and non-sequiters.
You still haven’t answered mine – so where are we…let’s see…you’re being very judgmental and myself and others are refusing to participate in weighting anything your way.
God! Isn’t America grand!
You’re doing the concern troll thing and no one is playing.
Now, how many times are YOU going to go around in that circle?
Now, you still haven’t answered the questions put forth to you…ready for another round?
Look, bot, those protesters had a right to be there. You, on the other hand, have no right to comment here as this site does not belong to you.
As for your selective indignation, I would have to say that you are as insufferable as your as your Obamabot brethren and Bushbot cousins. Stuff a large sock in it, dittohead.
>Look, bot, those protesters had a right to be there.
So did everyone else in the townhall who didn’t come to shout and take over the proceedings. Why do you support taking away their ability to participate?
You are terminally obtuse. They could have made statements but apparently weren’t interested in so doing. You should take your cue from them and leave.
It was a town hall meeting, as in those attending are suppose to participate. If the politicians are not able to quell the crowd, there in is the issue, isn’t it? When people have had enough, and are in a forum they will express what they feel, as in the entire purpose of a town hall meeting is for participation, who lost their ability to participate? The politicians “running” the meeting? Looks like they have an image and honesty issue, and no amount of double talk was going to work. It isn’t civil discourse when you lie and patronize the voters. We aren’t little obideint children. It is our civic duty to repell that which is not in our best interest or good for our country; not worry over the poor politicians, not having a voice; they are only there because of our vote, our voice. they serve us. If it is too much or hard for them to be shouted down, they can either learn to have an honest town hall discussion or expect more of the same.
So yelling and screaming in a townhall meeting, thereby not allowing the other people in the room who are not yelling and screaming, don’t wish to yell and scream, is a perfectly legitimate tactic and should be supported and encouraged. Got it.
obedient- even: washed my hands and can’t do athing with them
obedient- even: washed my hands and can’t do a thing with them
There’s a difference between obedience and civility.
pol, from my view you don’t get dog doo. you don’t get it (as in “got it”) either. what you doing is close your ears/eyes and hum lalalalala. you are also boring and you represent the reason why obama will not be relected ever.
pol, from my view you don’t get dog doo. you don’t get it (as in “got it”) either. what you do is close your ears/eyes and hum lalalalala. you are also boring and you represent the reason why obama will not be relected ever.
As though you would know, being one who is neither obedient nor civil. Your very presence here is completely inconsiderate. I don’t go to sites that worship That One and bait commenters there as you do here. You’re just an ugly supporter of That One who insists on forcing your adolescent opinions on people who don’t give a tinker’s cuss about what you think. Just shut up.
No response will be forth coming until you answer my question. Tell the truth.
So you refuse to participate in a reasonable conversation in which questions are addressed in order. No wonder you support these townhall “protestors” who are denying their fellow citizens a right to participate in the democratic process.
The protesters are doing no such thing. They are, indeed, exercising their right to be heard. If you don’t like what they have to say, tough. Those “fellow citizens” to which you refer are no more than paid obamabots like you, pushing their ill-conceived, illogical, and irrational agenda on those who want no part of it. Look, little man/girl/it, there are thousands of websites devoted to the worship of That One. Why don’t you go lower the collective IQ of one of them by commenting THERE?
So every single person not standing up, shouting, and interrupting at the townhalls is a paid obamabot? I’m not making any accusations about the protestors, why is it OK to make accusations about the other people there? Why aren’t they allowed to participate? Why can’t you simply answer the question?
I did answer the question. You need to pay attention, dink. Anyone could participate who chose to so do. The only ones complaining are you dogmatic, invincibly ignorant supporters of That One, aka Obamabots. You simpering morons come to sites like this one where you are not wanted and take up a lot of time with your equivocation, distractions, and dreck, which you post as though they are monumental epiphanies which should be shared with everyone. You comments, which look as though they were copied off cheap PowerPoint Presentations are rubbish and should be hauled away as such. Let me reiterate-your comments are garbage. Any more questions?
I’m certain any reasonable person reading this exchange could easily identify which person is disseminating equivocations and distractions, right ACORNBlackPantherBerfle?
My comments are better thought out than your drivel. I call a spade a shovel and you a bot. No equivocation there, as though you actually understand the meaning of that word. As for distractions, you provide that, asshat, with your leading questions going nowhere and adolescent rhetoric. You’re nothing more than a paid troll. You got your dollar’s worth of comments. Why don’t you use it to purchase a large bottle of Night Train to drown your little-bot sorrows.
Ferd: You called that guy a “dink”?
LMAO. You are my new posting favorite.
Hey, guy with the Soviet sounding post name:
Should we politely take a NUMBER to talk to our representatives? Like at the Deli?
I’ve been to two tea party protests. Never got a call from a political office. Never got a call from an insurance agency.
I investigated on my own, and made my own damn sign, and I cheered, yelled and screamed on my own.
If you want to lay down an take it, go ahead you pussy.
I intend to fight for my rights, with NO political party behind me.
I’m with you. I need no party to tell me what is right and what isn’t, especially since neither party knows the difference.
I did indeed. He’s also a dee-do.
Ditto!!
PotVsKtl,
Yup.
So you are saying that BO’s AG who dropped charges against a person welding a club at the entrance to a polling place is on the same footing as citizens attending a “townhall meeting” and being vocal about it?
.
BTW, Democracy has nothing to do with civil discourse.
.
answer the question, answer the question, answer the question, answer the question—
Sound like ahs to me
LMAO. Next, Pothead will be yelling, “Citizen’s arrest”.
I was thinking the same thing.
Personally I like the “James Gueligliglelmo” type trolls better than the “ahs” types.
“ahs”s are so dull and annoying, sort of like a mosquito buzzing in your ear.
The “James”s have a kooky dramatic flair, more like a big bee floating around a picnic.
Chug-a-lug was entertaining, in a Stepford-troll sort of way. I agree with AC and think Pothead is ahs.
I feel sorry for any dog that goes to his clinic. I’m sure James tries to indoctrinate them too.
My dog looks pampered and spoiled so I’m sure James would give less service so that he can spread the service around to less pampered dogs.
Your bias has just been exposed.
If you were unable to respond in kind first, there was never any hope of a reasonable conversation.
By the way, did you get your propaganda letter, yet?
Can’t answer? Why?
Your childishness is pretty unbecoming. Hopefully someone a little more serious will engage with normal responses. Until then you’ll have to pat yourself on the back that you made up some kind of “propaganda letter” nonsense and feel that you’ve successfully dodged normal questions. Most people will see through it, but whatever works for you.
You keep using the word “normal”. You, being an aberrant bot, should not be using that word as you are not qualified to make such a characterization.
Potty, are you at it again bothering those good people on No Quarter? I thought I told you and ahs to stay off my computer. That damnable Cheetos dust has ruined three keyboards in the last month. Now get your backside up those stairs and take your weekly bath before your Father gets home.
Sorry, I don’t converse with people with a child’s sense of humor.
No, you don’t converse with anyone, you plant.
Too bad you don’t have a sense of humor either.
Your mamma’s calling!
Still haven’ answered those questions…
tick, tick, tick….
How about we give Obama everything he wants in a public plan, the offer it to all federal employees along with the private choices they now have. When 50 percent of the federal employees and 50 percent of Congress and 50 percent of the White House staff have voluntarily chosen the public plan we then roll it out to the rest of the country. Obama did say he wanted ever one to have the coverage that congressman enjoy.
Waterstradt:
That’s right, baby, if it’s good enough for US, it should be good enough for them.
But don’t kid yourself. These elitists have no intention of giving up any of their benefits.
Only WE will lose.
If it’s not orchestrated by ACORN, it’s thuggery and right-wing conspiracy!
Hey Aprill..( and everyone else)..why don’t you read about the propaganda you are being fed by MSNBC ..and stop pissing on our legs and telling us it’s raining..ok???????
Please do go and read about MSNBC..and the tactics they are employing!!!!! and pass these along to everyone you know!!!!!!!!!!
GE’s silencing of Olbermann and MSNBC’s sleazy use of Richard Wolffe
Jeffrey Immelt, and the chairman of News Corporation (which owns Fox News), Rupert Murdoch, were brought into a room at a “summit meeting” for CEOs in May, where Charlie Rose tried to engineer an end to the “feud” between MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann and Fox’s Bill O’Reilly. According to the NYT, both CEOs agreed that the dispute was bad for the interests of the corporate parents, and thus agreed to order their news employees to cease attacking each other’s news organizations and employees.
snip:
The agreement of the corporate CEOs to cease criticizing each other was motivated by the belief that such criticism was hurting the unrelated corporate interests of GE and News Corp:
snip:
Over time, G.E. and the News Corporation concluded that the fighting “wasn’t good for either parent,” said an NBC employee with direct knowledge of the situation. But the session hosted by Mr. Rose provided an opportunity for a reconciliation, sealed with a handshake between Mr. Immelt and Mr. Murdoch.
Though Olbermann denies he was part of any deal, the NYT says that there has been virtually no criticism of Fox by Olbermman, or MSNBC by O’Reilly, since June 1 when the deal took effect.
snip:
But a review of all of Olbermann’s post-June 1 shows does reveal that he has not ever criticized (or even mentioned) Bill O’Reilly since then and barely ever mentions Fox News any longer.
snip:
In light of that, just marvel at what the supreme establishment-power-worshiper Charlie Rose said dismissively in March, 2003, when he had Amy Goodman on his show as a condescending example of someone who opposed the Iraq War, after Goodman touted the vital importance of “independent media” in America:
snip of interview Charlie Rose and Amy Goodman:
ROSE: My point in response to that would be that we do need you . . . . Having said that, I promise you, CBS News and ABC News and NBC News are not influenced by the corporations that may own those companies. Since I know one of them very well and worked for one of them.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
That’s the very same Charlie Rose who sat there with the CEO of GE and the CEO of News Corp. as an agreement was reached to order their news employees to stop criticizing the activities of Fox and GE in order to protect the corporate interests of those parents.
snip:
So now GE is using its control of NBC and MSNBC to ensure that there is no more reporting by Fox of its business activities in Iran or other embarrassing corporate activities, while News Corp. is ensuring that the lies spewed regularly by its top-rated commodity on Fox News are no longer reported by MSNBC. You don’t have to agree with the reader’s view of the value of this reporting to be highly disturbed that it is being censored.
This is hardly the first time evidence of corporate control over the content of NBC and MSNBC has surfaced.
snip:
On a very related note: this week, former Newsweek reporter Richard Wolffe was a guest-host on MSNBC’s Countdown while Keith Olbermann is on vacation. When Olbermann is there, Wolffe is a very frequent guest on Countdown, where he is called an “MSNBC political analyst” and comments on political news. All of this, despite the fact that Wolffe left Newsweek last March in order to join “Public Strategies, Inc.,” the corporate communications firm run by former Bush White House Communications Director Dan Bartlett, its President and CEO. According to the Press Release they issued to announce Wolffe’s joining the company:
snip:
Public Strategies, Inc. is a business advisory firm that serves a diverse clientele including some of the world’s largest and best-known corporations, nonprofit organizations, associations and professional firms. Public Strategies helps forward-thinking organizations assess public opinion and risk, and develops strategies for managing corporate reputation and uncertainty. Much of its practice involves managing high-stakes campaigns for corporate clients, anticipating and responding to crises.
Having Richard Wolffe host an MSNBC program — or serving as an almost daily “political analyst” — is exactly tantamount to MSNBC’s just turning over an hour every night to a corporate lobbyist.
[...] at MSNBC and other liberal media outlets that she openly disparaged a fellow NQ writer’s post on this topic as “just all kinds of crazy“. We will let her ponder over how long it will be before [...]
