Thanks For Clearing That Up, Pelosi And Hoyer
By Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy on August 11, 2009 at 7:15 PM in 1st Amendment, Censorship, Civil Liberties, Congress (House & Senate), Current Affairs, Fascism, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, U.S. Constitution, Universal Health Care
Wow, have I ever been laboring under a false impression! I thought, from what the Constitution (and Bill of Rights) contained, that US citizens have the right to assemble, and the right to free speech. Oh, and that our representatives worked for US, and not the other way around.
Was I ever misled by my civics teachers and the Bill of Rights itself! Thank heavens we have two Democrats, the top two in Congress, mind you, to set us straight (so to speak) on that misunderstanding.
Yes, indeedy, Pelosi and Hoyer call protesters of the Health Care Bill “Un-American” in a USA Today op-ed. How do you like them apples?
Here’s a video discussing their charge:
Evidently, neither one of these alleged Democrats has read word one by Thomas Jefferson or any other of our Founders who, themselves, rebelled against their government. Here’s a little reminder Speaker Pelosi and House Majority Leader Hoyer: This country was founded by people rebelling and revolting against their own government because of its abuses of them.
Oh, wait - the phone is ringing, and it’s for you - it’s from the Get A Clue Department suggesting you get one.
The father of a handicapped child tried to ask his representative a question about how the Health Care plan will do away with any care for his son. Wait until you hear what happened to him:
Can you believe that? He had someone show up in the dead of night to deliver a “message” to him and his wife, terrifying them. Read that again: he had someone show up in the dead of night to deliver a “message” to him for speaking up for his son, and asking a question of his representative.
Wow. Which country is this again?
Well, you’ll be glad to know that political pundit, Michael Barone, has cleared up the record - it is NOT “Un-American” to protest against one’s government:
This is, by far and wide, my FAVORITE sentence in the entire video: “Kinda ridiculous for a former Community organizer to denounce community organizing…” Uh, yeah.
And I am relieved, too. As someone who has been in her fair share of protests, being photographed by the F.B.I. for participation in some of them, I am relieved to hear that our Democratic leaders have it all wrong. That we do, in fact, have the right to protest, to ask our representatives to answer to US, to make policies that benefit US, and that is what being an American MEANS, Speaker Pelosi and House Majority Leader Hoyer. How in the world can you possibly not know that, given your positions, and the very name of your party?? Dang. I tell you what - here’s a link to the Bill of Rights. Maybe you oughta take a little look-see and refresh your memories of just what it our Constitution actually says, especially since you swore to uphold it. I’m just sayin’.
Oh, one last right in there I should point out: we have the right “to petition the government for a redress of grievances.” And that’s just what we are doing. You can’t get more AMERICAN than that.

Now Biden is getting into the act.
Biden thinks that we should be arrested for protesting the take over of the Health care system.
This may turn into a full scale revolution or civil war.

Obama’s paid civilian police in action
I hope you All realize that we’re just a breath away from TOTAL tyranny…if one of the Constitutionalist Supreme court judges mysteriously kicks the bucket…you all ain’t seen nothing yet: Up=down, left=right, red=blue and America=Venezuela…with absolutely no hope of return to normality. The game will be over. Elections will be cancelled and rigged (our voting machines are already made in Venezuela), UN peacekeepers from Syria will sent to Deal with us “terrorists”. You watch…and weep.

tzada: saw this in Yahoo! Welcome to The Great Depression, people. It wasn’t a love fest of brotherhood and community–the Depression was a war. We very nearly became some kind of communal government because Americans totally lost faith in the system outlined by the Fathers.
One of the most interesting, overlooked eras in history–Americans don’t like poor people so we don’t dwell on it.
Egads… My favorite lines from the above link:
So if this is true, our tax dollars are paying for the SEIU goons who have been assaulting protesters at the town halls?
Oops, my bad. I should read my own posts more carefully. It said AFL-CIO, not SEIU.
Sorry!
Well, you’ve got to think up some way to keep all those unemployed guys busy–like FDR built big dams and things like that. It’s much more cost-effective if you don’t have to buy all those raw materials while you’re putting the rank-and-file back to work . . .
Yeah, for sure. Hell, FDR could have been just another hopey-changey sort of guy like our current trespasser. Nope, he had the audacity to put real people to real work, expecting real results for a real recovery. The nerve of him….
Ferd: from you keyboard to god’s ears. We needed another FDR, not Mr. Chicago. One big difference, in the Depression, there was still money in the federal treasury. Obie’s spending like there’s no tomorrow–maybe there isn’t
The current health care debate finds many of us sorting out the tensions between our freedom and security. It’s easy to understand how we are tempted either to: a) seek security at the expense of our freedom, or b) seek freedom at the expense of our security.
If we have learned anything since the Regan Administration, though, it is how either extreme just leaves us with false choices and empty promises. Remember how Ronald Regan ran on a platform of welfare reform? It’s funny how neither party has yet to make good on their word to finish the task by implementing true health care reform. I imagine most of us do not know how the current democratic health plan proposals echo efforts previously made by Richard Nixon- a conservative.
http://www.mcclatchydc.com/226/story/22163.html
What’s not so funny is how we, as the middle class, have placed too much faith in premises that reflect neither our religious nor political heritage. The current health care fiasco is neither liberal nor conservative: it has merely provided the motives and means for corporate robber barons to steal from rather than deal with any nation under God. The current health care system is neither compassionate nor just: it has only managed to exchange one form of corporate tyranny with another.
Clearly a balance must be sought between our rights and responsibilities. The right would have us believe we should hold corporations free and individuals accountable; the left would have us believe we should hold individuals free and corporations accountable. Unfortunately both extremes have presented us with half-truths, false choices, and wrong directions. Either extreme views freedom and security as antagonistic rather than reciprocal processes. They lead us to believe somehow that we can live in a place where there is liberty without equity and choices without accountability.
The question remains about whether we will continue to allow either side to depict freedom and security as “either/or” choices. Or will we finally stand up to those who claim we can have a) freedom without security or b) security without freedom? Ultimately it begs a deeper question of identity: are we just embodied souls that need to escape the curses of a world that is evil; or are we ensouled bodies that get to participate in the blessings of a world worth saving?
I, for one, am tired of being treated as an object of force rather than as an agent of my own destiny. I don’t want to be pushed into blindly obeying conventions of the past; nor do I want to be pulled willy-nilly into any movement without some assurances as to our future.
Aren’t you tired, as well, of being lead by those who would like nothing more than keep us in “La- La land? People who are for real know there can be no a) freedom without security nor b) security without freedom. People who are for real know the time to overhaul our health care system is long overdue.
People who are for real surely will find a way for all to have a legitimate say about how real freedom and security will walk hand in hand. The time has come for us to be free enough to be secure and secure enough to be free when it comes to calling for real solutions to our health care crisis.
Oh, how precious. In the article, Biden says if protestors don’t calm down when told to, they’ll be arrested. But wait a minute, I thought it was ‘racism’ to arrest someone for ‘disturbing the peace’? Oh wait, that’s only if you’re an elitist buddy of Obama’s. Apparently all the folks in fly over, gun-toting, bible-loving country ought to prepare to be shipped out to the Obama reeducation camps, for actually believing they live not in Obamaland but in America Land of the Free. We are going to fight for our country, they can arrest us they can do anything they want but we who love America, stand for something and will never give up.
And I thought protest was a demonstration of patriotism?
What happened to that? Pelosi has branded herself as an utter fool with the “unAmerican” comments. And now Joey B. is jumping on board?
I was afraid this was going to be a lo-o-og, hot summer but the Dems are totally blowing it. The more they threaten, the more enraged people become. The representatives have lost the message, cannot clearly articulate their position [if in fact they have one] and will not or cannot reasonably explain how the hell we [as a nation] can pay for all this with a sagging economy, unemployment still in hyperdrive and gobs of money propping up failed, fraudulant banks.
This sign on for “a pig in a poke” message doesn’t work anymore.
We had the Republican “Big Lie” in place for 8 years. The Democratic version doesn’t taste any better.
And people do appear to be waking up. I read an essay over at Real Clear Politics by Ed Koch tonight, another Obama supporter, who feels the earth beginning to quake over the healthcare question. “Falling Out of Love with Obama.” It’s an honest piece.
And Koch is raising the same questions as The Mob.
I hope so, Peggy Sue. I know there’s a big difference between, strategy A, which declaims “Hope” (strike a pose), “Change” (strike another pose), and “Yes, We Can” (strike a really cool pose, looking upwards, chin out); and strategy B, which commands “Trust Me,” while trying to sneak through 1000 pages of convoluted confusion that nobody can stay awake to read, much less understand, similar to this tortured sentence that I am trying to bring to a conclusion.
Tell Obama to stay out of our bedpans.
That’s cutting through the rhetoric!
Very well stated, Peggy Sue.
nd you are absolutely right:
And can you blame anyone for feeling this way. I am shocked by this behavior (well I would be, if I didn’t remember what went on at the caucuses last year) — the Dems were so angry at the Bush people putting people in “areas” 2 miles away in order to protest. How is the Dems’ behavior any better?
Obama’s healthcare horror
Heads should roll — beginning with Nancy Pelosi’s! by Paglia (of all people)
http://www.salon.com/opinion/paglia/2009/08/12/town_halls/
Got to love Hoyer;
I am all for helping dis-advantaged Americans. Problem is that we already are one big ass country of full of “dis-advantaged Americans”.
Sorry to tell you Rep Hoyer, it’s your supporters doing the fist fighting, or have you forgot BO’s prime directive.
Oh and by the way;
THIS IS ILLEGAL.
RRRA - OT, but I think you’ll like this. A journalist who can see “Hillary’s meltdown” from a different point of view. It’s called “Who’s afraid of the big, bad Clinton?” The ending is especially insightful, IMO.
http://www.salon.com/mwt/broadsheet/feature/2009/08/11/clintons/
Hillary didn’t have a meltdown. The question was disrespectful of her. It reminds me of those college kids planted at campaign rallies who would immediately push their way to the front and ask Chelsea how her mother felt about Monica Lewinsky. Makes me wonder if the African guy who asked the question wasn’t a plant.
But by all means, let’s make a big brouhaha out of Hillary standing up for herself and for women in general instead of looking at all the good she’s doing.
It’s a little suspect to me that Bill Clinton just got huge kudos around the world for his mission–North Korea didn’t want Obama–and now suddenly there’s very this negative story about both the Clintons in all the media. Obama wants everyone to say: Wow, good thing we didn’t those Clintons in the WH again. Maybe foreign countries don’t like our president, but at least his wife knows to stay in the background.
That link is a riot.
A little off-topic but not really because you are discussing hypocrites. Check this out and tell me you don’t find it the least bit amusing (in that Democrats are stupid as can be ironic kinda way).
You CAN’T make this shit up!
That is ironic and funny!
Locally it is Dems who are pissed off and “disrupting” meetings. It doesn’t go with the theme we’re being sold by the media and the Democrats, but hell hath no fury like realizing you’ve been punked.
True that, yttik. And very interesting to hear that WE are being punked by the MSM, AGAIN. I swear, those folks wouldn’t know the truth if they tripped over it.
Hey Rev. My comment is stuck in the confessional.
Excellent read.
That is just too rich for mere words, teak. ROFL.
yttik: Okay, I think I missed something here. Is this now a NeoCon blog? Stupid DEMOCRATS aren’t welcome? Those people who are stupid as can be?
Of course, we were too smart to vote for a fraud who only wanted to pass out Clinton’s surplus in the treasury to all his corporate wealthy friends and then invade a country the size of one of our states that couldn’t possibly harm us.
But we weren’t so stupid to put a guy back in the WH who had promised his dirty little wars (to redeem Daddy) wouldn’t cost the American people a cent, and then let them bankrupt the country because he never any strategy.
We weren’t so stupid to vote for a man who let an entire American city–the only unique city left in the U. S.–be destroyed because he didn’t want to spend money fixing the levees–better to just let Americans die.
Democrats were smarter than to vote for a president who outed his own CIA agent to cover up the lies he told to misuse our military and cost thousands of our young people their lives in a preemptive, unnecessary war, but why don’t all you brilliant REPUBLICANS just keep thinking it’s the Democrats on this site who are stupid? I’m sure you will and in four years you’ll have another Dubya, if there’s any country left.
Back in 2006, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann attacked what he called President Bush’s “portable public chorus” (does President Obama have one of those?) For telling “those who dissent…[that] we are somehow un-American.” PBS’s Bill Moyers in 2003 found it “galling” to see “all those moralistic ideologues in Washington…attacking dissenters as un-American.”
In 2003, Olbermann saluted protests: “It is political dissent that created this country and sustained it and improved it.”
But on Friday’s Countdown, Olbermann called the anti-Obama protests “societal sabotage,” determined that the grassroots groups are “fake” and insisted that…. “the protestors are not interested in hearing any voices other than their own.”
Very telling points. MSNBC is self-destructing by the day, and the “public chorus” here at NQ can start practicing its Hallelujahs for the final MSNBC collapse. Around Christmas time?
What I’ve learned this month:
Yelling at spinless and lazy politicians over a badly put together health care bill that could waste trillions in tax payer money is un-American and un-patriotic and you should be arrested for not obediently repeating the ObamaCare talking points with a smile on your face and a spring in your step….
…But getting in the face of a white cop, if you’re a black man, is the highest form of social disobedience and free speech and no matter how loud or beligerent you are to the cop, being arrested is completely off the table and out of bounds.
Got it!
Spot on.
Frame that one.
Obama:Duya2,
I may have to take this comment and cross stich a sampler with it. Classic!
Um, the only ones I’ve seen involved in fisticuffs have been the SEIU people, Obama’s enforcers. So, is Biden saying THEY should be arrested? Hope so, because they were!
And WHAT a surprise that Olbermann has done a 180. I wonder if he ever gets dizzy from doing that?
Electric Boogaloo, you are so right!
oh absolutely, Biden! The best way to win over hearts and minds and to diffuse protesters is to start arresting them. Brilliant! What does every revolution need? Publicity and a few martyrs.
Go for it Biden, I’ll make some popcorn.
I seem to recall protesters carrying swastikas at marches against Bush. Where was Biden then?
What I think Biden doing is issuing a threat to those that dare to object to anything he and Obama are doing. And I’m pretty sure Obama is in on it, not a typical Biden gaffe.
Biden is shocking! He passed intelligible about 2 years ago.
Can’t believe this is the same Biden! He had such promise in the early 80’s (until the plagiarism thing came out)
Pretty soon the only acceptable question that will be allowed in the town hall meetings is:
(insert name of local politican here), Obama’s health care plan…great or the greatest government program?
I can’t wait until the moment when they call out the National Guard on the protestors and the young single mom in the “mob” walks up to one of them holding a rifle and sticks a tea bag down the barrel. Wouldn’t that be an ironic turn for the BFF of William Ayers?
LOL - or stick the end of their Don’t Tread On Me flag in the barrel!
http://www.infowars.com/man-detained-for-displaying-don%E2%80%99t-tread-on-me-bumper-sticker/
You all may remember this…
A guy actually got detained for displaying a Don’t tread on me bumper sticker.
Ah yes, Diana L. C., that evokes a lovely moment from right around the Summer of Love between a young woman and a soldier. And then we had Kent State. Let’s hope we don’t go down that road again. This time the seniors who might fall could have been students in the crowd at Kent State.
And once again, my old memory seems to be failing me. The famous picture, and that “lovely moment” was indeed around the Summer of Love (1967), but the iconic photo did not feature a “young woman,” but a young man. I want it to be a young woman, so I guess I’ll trust my mistaken memory rather than my 2 eyes:
http://homepage.mac.com/hbsherwood/images/superjoel.jpg
I thought it was, too. But I remember now, it was a woman in emotional agony kneeling over the body of a victim at Kent State.
Oh my, Ferd. That is one of the most powerful photos I’ve ever seen. I get cold chills down my spine just thinking about it. Mary Ann Vecchio was a 14 year old runaway:
http://www.worldsfamousphotos.com/kent-state-1970.html
It can happen here, and it DID happen here.
We can’t let it happen again!
That was the picture I remember. That was a masterpiece, which captured the the emotions of that day. Thanks for finding it, oowawa. I think that was the beginning of the end for Nixon.
Ferd.
Yes, yes. It was when Nixon went to war against the people he was sworn to serve that it was all over. I see the same tone deafness with the Obama and the Dems.
Arrogance and condescension will get you there every time. We are actually a pretty well informed populace and contrary to the DC mind set, we are not stupid. Just try us and you’ll find out. When it comes right down to it, we’ll stand up for America and against anyone who tries to take it away..
Yes, exactly, Martha. Very good points. The folks who protested the war on the home front became the enemy and were finally fired upon at Kent State. Now we see the folks who peacefully protest the health bill being characterized as the enemy. These tactics contributed greatly to bringing down Nixon, and they will bring down Obama, if he continues down this road.
You are right. They just don’t recognize us 40 years later but where do they think we learned all that organizin’ stuff? Not all of us on the left back then followed Billy Ayers…
Ahem, we do dress better now.
I really believe that after the shock wears off The Dems in Congress will be saying to one another is it worth losing for? Then they will come knocking on Republican Reps doors as they desperately trying to find a compromise bill to get them off the hook.
I really believe that after the shock wears off The Dems in Congress will be saying to one another is it worth losing for? Then they will come knocking on Republican Reps doors as they desperately try to find a compromise bill to get them off the hook.
Excellent commentary, RRRA. The last time I checked, the right to peaceably assemble had not been written out of the First Amendment nor had the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances. I guess the supporters of That One and the rest of the Gang of Four seem to think that these rights apply only to them and not to those of us who understand the full meaning and depth of the First Amendment and the precarious position in which it has been placed by those who have no comprehension of its reason for existence. The Second Amendment is important but without the First, everything this country represents becomes a memory.
Thank you for reminding us of this.
They can have my free speech when they pry it off my cold, dead lips; they can have my freedom of assembly when they take it from my lifeless body; they can take away my right to petition the government when they take the pen from my lifeless hand.
Amen, brother, amen!
And thank you, Ferd -that means a lot to me!
Joninca, that WOULD be funny if it wasn’t so damn true!!
But it may take the 2nd Amendement to save and secure the 1st. From my cold dead hand, will they take my gun.
“We are here to serve the people, and if the people don’t like it, they can go to hell.”
hee hee hee
Wow!! Although Mike is relying on info that has probably been misinterpreted by what’s-her-name, the health plan is a mess nevertheless. He was still impressive in his passion for his famuly’s welfare. I liked that.
Great postAmy!
The term “Un-American” infuriates me, particularly when it’s used by a high-ranking politician. That’s the horse Joseph McCarthy rode in the days of the House Un-American Activities Committee. Make your point, Nancy, but don’t use that expression!
EXACTLY right, oowawa - thank you for highlighting that. And yes, it is infuriating, especially when people are exercising their RIGHTS as Americans!
Tricia, thank you!!
Thanks Rev. Amy–and many thanks for this important article. Now I’m going to scold myself:
McCarthy was of course a Senator, and was not on the House Committee on Un-American Activities, but was on a Senate counterpart: the Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. He went after Un-American stuff from his leadership position on this Subcommittee.
Right - I knew what you meant!
But thanks for clarifying. Always good to be armed with the facts.
Did you see the Drudge Report this evening?
Oz got called out for falsely saying AARP supported his bill. Jake Trapper reported it on Politico. I feel like Oz buddy at AARP did say in private they would. But it’s all hitting the fan with I am thinking many canceling their AARP.
Yeah, I think AARP is hoping to stop the hemorrhage. I will not renew unless they come to their senses. I think the United Health Care through AARP stands to benefit from the government system. I use them for supplemental insurance and I like what I get (all the Medicare deductible and the 20% after) and I damn well don’t want that or any part of Medicare watered down or limited further to pay for illegals. They love to say that illegals pay into the system…really? Not for the 50 years that I have. That’s the deal…you pay into the system for MANY years BEFORE getting benefits, not for slipping across the Rio Grande last year.
And btw, Medicare is already rationed. I can’t have certain tests yearly. I have a problem with a joint in my hand…surgery? No. Try a pain pill, steriod shot and a brace. Problem is that the joint is disintegrating. Those “protocols” won’t change that. Given all the above, I use the Bush Health Care Plan (aka Obamacare): Don’t get sick and certainly don’t age. WTH, I can still type, must be my own fault for using my hands all these years.
That is for sure. American citizens retain the absolute right to criticize any politician they so desire. This has been ruled on so many times by our court system, it amazes me that anyone even questions such at this late date. Politics is a free-for-all and OPEN TO ALL, not just Ozombies.
The 35 year old stay at home mom told Spector today that they has awakened a sleeping Giant.
Pelosi and Hoyer are so out of touch they are stupid enough to put those insults in writing…
in the past, I could never understand what the repubs meant when they called the Liberals elitists…geesh…tone deaf elistists at that!
And blind, too, apparently.
Exactly. Talk abt your hubris - to put in print a statement claiming Americans engaging in Constitutionally mandated rights UNamerican by the top two Dems in the Congress would be laughable if it wasn’t so disturbing.
And Mel, you are absolutely right! Excellent point!! If only Obama would use his thugs for good and not evil, right?
Great article, Rev. Amy. People need to see how this horrid leadership is behaving. Talk about a lack of respect.
Pelosi should resign now.
Thanks, Ani!
And I could not agree more. Pelosi is THIRD in line for the presidency. All we need is another puppet who doesn’t give a damn abt the Constitution, or the people she claims to represent.
Still shaking my head that I was once proud she was the new Speaker…
yes s angeltour, i now understand limo liberal too. sigh, the party of fdr and truman reduced to this.
Wow, in 2008 Obama thugs take over civil Caucuses in every way being used by people today against Obamacare, to ram his leadership attempt threw.
Fast forward to 2009, Americans against Obamacare and make it known by their voices are being told by leaders they are UnAmerican and do not deserve a voice!
Well then Mr. Phony POTUS backtrack and disolve the UnAmerican thugs you bused into Caucuses and withdraw from the office you took in an UN American way! Show us that being Un American comes with a price and leae through the same door Nixon did, do the honorable thing for once in your life!
I am in total agreement. Obamabots now criticizes “the opposition” for using the very tactics that Obama used in the caucases and the Democrat convention to strong-arm his “nomination”. Oh, how the worms turns. I have no doubt that special interests are sending in operatives to disrupt healthcare “forums”. However, I am certain that Americans of every political stripe are also turning out to ask questions. Does Pelosi think we are all sheep? I am left-leaning liberal, who believes that a single payor system is the best solution for this country; but I have no trust in Obama and the legislators to deliver any type of workable solution. If the way he handled the banking crisis is any indication, all of us should be concerned at how fast this train is going.
Thank you for your honesty.
“If the way he handled the banking crisis is any indication, all of us should be concerned at how fast this train is going.”
Excellent point, MartininKY. This morning, I learned that we are $11.7 TRILLION dollars in debt. Yes, TRILLION. The Debt ceiling is $12 TRILLION. We are racking up debt at the rate of $200 BILLION a month. Which means we are abt to bump up against that ceiling. Which is why Timmy Geithner is running as fast as he can to get it moved up. Because if we hit it, without any changes to the Debt Ceiling by Congress, we are essentially defaulting.
So, yeah, I don’t trust them to be able to manage a “workable” solution to save my life, or those of my fellow Americans, either.
you expect anything out of the son of Obama’s boss?
Tim Geithner ’s dad was Obama’s mothers boss at the ford foundation working on micro financial reforms in Indonesia which failed miserably.
Small world huh?
hmmmmmmmm This really could have started years ago…. just saying
Thanks for commenting, Martine. Good to hear your point of view.
Biden should not be threatening “consequences” to the loyal Americans protesting this non-bill bill. From what I witnessed these people, mothers, senior citizens, parents, taxpayers, middle aged citizens, physicians, etc are ready to go to jail for their beliefs. In fact, I don’t think anything or anyone can stop them now. The Bidens and the Pelosis are only making them stronger.
Biden hasn’t got a bottle to stand on with this one. He opened his mouth and inserted a double-shot here. He needs a remedial course in First Amendment 101.
Peloski’s last comment was the kicker. THe one about about Now — with Americans strongly supporting health insurance reform,
Yes America wants health care reform but not this health care plan. Big difference.
The fact that the polls that Americans want health care reform is a bit different than wanting the actual bill.
When asked about the bill itself the polls are way dwon like 40% or so.
Her use of the word “reform” is laughable in juxtaposition to that fustercluck that was written with the help of insurance companies. I am simply dumbfounded at her tone-deaf response and the absolute naivete of the supporters of this mess.
How did these bozos get the reins of power? Oh, dumbasses like yazi who believe anything that is posted on the web as the gospel truth. I get it now. We’ve been taken captive by the shallow end of the gene pool. Damn sure glad I can swim.
Thank you for another great and witty piece. Scary, about the fellow with the handicapped kid getting a gestapo type warning. But I think that’ll just fuel the fire of protestors, who love this country. Thank God for No Quarter, oasis for the sane!
And ready-room for the true patriots.
NQ has definitely been an oasis for me, too, especially with great folks like y’all (Margaret, you have been leaving some great comments - thank you!)
And Ferd, well said!
According to Rasmussen, Americans oppose the congressional health care
takeoverplan 53-42%.and it is falling like a stone even more everyday along with obama’s poll numbers.
“Absolute Power Corrupts”
During the 2008 election, both BO and the Democrats got away with gaming and cheating the system. It happened in the caucuses and during the main election with Acorn and SEIU thugs. Now, that they are in charge, Obama and the Dems feel as if the public should step aside while they bankrupt this country and ruin the economy and our health care system. No way!!!!!
BO and the Democrats seem to believe that they are only accountable to themselves. BS! The tide is turning and even the people that voted for TOTUS have buyer’s remorse.
Let’s impeach Obama! All this corruption starts at the top…..
Obama caught lying again.
Little girl at Obama town hall has not-so-random political connections
http://michellemalkin.com/2009/08/11/little-girl-at-obama-town-hall-has-not-so-random-political-connections/#comments
It’s getting beyond ridiculous how stupid the dems are to think that they can stage all this and get away with it.
Little girl’s mom is lower than scum to use her daughter as a pawn in the Obama theatre of LIES.
Hmmm. First a HuffPo blogger is set up to ask the POTUS a question at a presser. Less than two months later, an 11 year-old is set up to ask him a softball question at a healthcare townhall. What next — a toddler with flash cards?
My diagnosis is that the POTUS suffers from a galloping variation of Benjamin Button syndrome.
Patience, How about that E*TRADE Trading Baby ?
At least he doesn’t need a TOTUS.
RRRA, as usual, you get to the heart of the matter. Great article!
Support for obamacare is indeed taking a nosedive, and the thugs are scurrying out of the woodwork. Welcome to The United States of Chicago. Hope and change! No wonder Hillary got a little pissy. Her boss sucks.
Yeah–he’s like the doofy hall monitor from the third grade.
“They have the votes.”
Protests or no protests, she’s got the votes. So what’s Pelosi afraid of? 2010. Obama’s forcing her to pass this bill, and she doesn’t want to pay for it in 2010.
And Biden — ‘if they don’t calm down, they’ll be arrested.’ You’re so right, Amy, these Town Halls are like bingo games compared to ACT-UP demos. Larry Kramer taught us anger is power — if you calm down, you’re dead!
Fully realizing how bad Bush was, how bad that nasty Speaker was, how bad Bill Frist was — I can’t wait to get rid of this disgusting, lying Pelosi congress.
Me, too. She and her pack are just a different breed of flea-infested cur.
Way back (seems like 3 lifetimes ago) when I was a life long Yella-Dog Democrat, I wept all the way through the swearing in ceremony when Nancy Pelosi became the first woman Speaker…so proud. Now I weep every time she opens her lying mouth. Crushing disappointment. Then came 5/31/08. I may have to re-register from being an Independent back to Dem just so I can vote against the thugs in the 2010 primary. How sweet it will be to see them out of office. I’d love to see Meg Whitman take on Senate Dems but she evidently is aiming at CA Gov. It’ll be up to Carly Fiorina to put Boxer in her place…out of the Senate. Please, please, send someone to retire Pelosi and Feinstein. Shameful. All of them.
OK, feel better now. Think I’ll have a Martini.
Cheers!!
Excellent! Having Anejo rum myself.
Wine here… and after watching another round of democratic obfuscation, I needed it.
Firestone Double Barrel Ale….cheers!
You know you got problems when the granola hippies worship a Lenin statue dominating a square in Fremont in N Seattle.
Sure hope the statue doesn’t fall on any of those Obama Marxist’s.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Lenin-statue-in-Fremont.jpg
You know you have bigger problems when the Rolex Commies glorify the horrors of the Bolshevik revolution by drinking the very popular Red Menace Beer.

As for me…I’ll just go for the best!
and a big toast to capitalism and all the Tea Party Patriots
http://www.partidamargarita.com/
Moss, this post is not directed at you, although I will use your capitalist example to bolster my position, you just gave me the opening to express some thoughts that have been festering for a while.
Lenin in Fremont is a symptom. Drinking Red Menace Beer is an affirmation. Expecting free health care is the potential destruction of the American experience.
Moss, your product is plastic and plasic bags. You have frequently expressed the importance of your product, and how much of our lifestyle is tied to your product. I agree totally in that assessment, and I rejoice in the freedom that you seem to have in directing the concerns of your company. How would you feel if suddenly, your product was deemed a public necessity and was threatened with government oversight? How would your company adjust to new and strict government mandates and controls? If the gov told you how much to produce and who your clients would be, what would happen to your sales department? What would happen to you, to your company?
This is exactly what is happening in the health provider realm. The volcanic and heartfelt rage that surrounds the debate over healthcare has it’s genesis in a cruel but false premise, that is that health care is a right. This false belief is the nucleus of what is fueling the contentious debates and polarizing this country more than any subject in recent history. Americans know in their hearts that it is wrong to expect something for nothing, and that it is evil to expect that someone else should provide for your needs through compulsion. So, let’s stop dancing around the obvious truths in this debate. Health care is a PRODUCT! Health insurance is a PRODUCT! ! ! Nobody orders you to buy them. They are produced by well trained and highly educated individuals that seek to gain as much as they can from the talents that they have spent a fortune in time and money to develope. What the hell is wrong with that? Do you think that by
your mere existence that you have a right to compell another human to adress your medical needs,…. just because? Do any of you think for a moment that if the gov decides that a treatment or drug is too costly that you’ll get it? You complain that insurance companies bolt or refuse coverage, just wait and see how a financially strapped gov will step up and pay for experimental or expensive procedures. Fat chance! It won’t matter what a well meaning doctor could demand, if you don’t qualify, you’re a goner. We’re all goners if this bullshit bill gets passed.
I have a great deal more to say on the subject, but right now I’m exhausted. My work is very physical,so I have aches and pains, so I DEMAND that I get gov provided message therapy. IT’S MY RIGHT! I’M AN AMERICAN! “We have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and any advancements, creations, inventions, and thoughts of anyone more ambitious and creative than the laziest gutter dwelling drunk.” I’m sure ya’ll will carry me around when I don’t feel like crawling, it’s my RIGHT don’cha know.
Right now yes, and I agree with you and Moss almost always. But health care should rather be a service as opposed to a product. We have a lot of issues, some of them with the way care is currently prepaid in insurance plans and yet some of it is in the way medical care is sold as a product. We see consumer ads for drugs, MRI centers, cancer centers, scooter chairs and the list goes on. All of these if medically necessary should be prescribed in the course of receiving medical care rendered as a service. Not as a marketed product. The marketing of health care services as products to me is a part of the problem we now have.
Advertising medical products is a GOOD sign. It is clear evidence of competition, and competition in a free market serves to drive prices down and/or improve quality. How many ads for car insurance do you see? I see tons of them, and although car insurance is mandatory, the fierce competition for your $ keeps the cost of auto ins. reasonable. I do not see many (or any) adds for health insurance providers, and that indicates that they feel no need to compete for your business, and that is at the heart of this whole mess. If consumers had greater choice in health insurance plans, if they could cross state lines and shop nationwide for policies, then just watch the competition start driving down prices and improving the product.
Lasix was very expensive initially, but now it is very reasonable, and I still hear many lasix providers advertising their services (a service IS a product, because someone produces it). It is obvious, and always has been, that there is a powerful linkage between market forces and cost/quality. It is also obvious that the rapid increase in cost for medical care has been caused primarily by government intrusion into this particular market, going back to 1964. It was the distorted belief that health care was a right that allowed the gov to enter into this field, and when it did, market forces became unhinged from the product, and prices exploded. And the most extreme irony in this issue, is that people are now demanding that the gov do something more to solve the problem, when it was this same gov that created the problem in the first place. If the gov were to do the opposite of greater involvement, and gradually withdraw from this market, watch prices stabilize, and then start to fall. Before the gov completely takes over the industry, why not take some smaller and more defined steps? Allow consumers to purchase across state lines. TORT REFORM! Promote individual medical savings accounts with tax break incentives. Come down hard on providers that deny treatment for spurious reasons. Why completely restructure the whole thing to accommodate the small percentage of uninsured? It’s insane!
Please, please, PLEASE read this article, it explains in far greater detail and clarity than I’m capable of on a blog. And please let me know what you think after you read it. http://thefreemanonline.org/columns/medicare-prescription-for-a-fools-paradise/
Thanks for the share: I particularly picked up on
Now I realize I am probably sounding like a broken record, but an easily seen failure of government run health care is on reservations. Please take a look at this article. I know this first hand from family, how health care can be given or not given depending on which group you belong to. It is far better to have it as a choice, not one by design, the horrors are a bit much. Our family became separated for years when the members with TB were rounded up and lost custody of their children. And we we promised, it is in the treaties, and still no one is responsible nor follows thru on health care for native american’s. Last fact, death rate for native american infants %40.
http://www.reznetnews.org/article/indian-health-cares-broken-promises-35270
And thank YOU for sharing Katmoon. The article is a sad but stark omen of the potential and probable failure of a government run healthcare system. I doubt it could get as bad as conditions for native Americans, but it will almost certainly be much worse than what we have now.
Onofre,
Just a quick word that I read your post.
Very well written and keeper for your archives.
Too busy to talk more right now
Moss
Indeed. This dysfunctional government of ours can’t keep a commitment. If the native Americans armed with their treaties can’t get what is due them by law, then how can any drunken, kool-aide sipping, living-off-the-dole obamabot think that they would do better?
Medicaid has been mismanaged
Medicare has been mismanaged
Social Security has been mismanaged
Government finances have been mismanaged
The common thread is “government-run”. But the wailing-banshee Obumblebots promise us THIS time THIS program will WORK. YEah and I’m a three-toed sloth.
I’m not willing to take any chances with the government and certainly not a government run by a con-man, conniver, and creep.
Stuff it, bots.
I think I’ll start drinking again!
Ah, yes. That’s better. Iced Bombay straight up, a quick splash of Noilly Prat, shaken, not stirred, a twist and two giant olives. You really only need one to wipe away the sliminess of the lies they’re trying to instill.
I saw this coming from the second I saw his elitist face on TV 2 years ago….and lo and behold: it is all coming to pass just as expected. If only people were smart enough and wise enough to see the signs-I as a former Soviet block citizen sure have. Now we’ll all pay and hard.
I watched that video of the man with the CP son and my jaw just dropped. What low life would go and harass him and his family like that? I am not a violent person but when the man said that he would go to jail to protect his family, I had to agree with him. And to see that congressman throw out the Dem talking points about these protesters being part of an unruly mob is truly pathetic. Like the man said, if these people believe in this healthcare bill so much, let all members of congress and their families be part of it too. I like to see Meeechelle, Bobo and their girls to be the first ones to sign up for it.
Loved the very coherent woman who confronted Specter. That little self-serving traitor. I’ll rejoice when he’s voted out.
If you saw much of that meeting with Specter, a NUMBER of people told him they voted for him when he was a Republican…Just a little reminder to him that people are not impressed with him jumping ship.
I was thinking abt that earlier today - if he was SO concerned with the direction the Republicans were going, why didn’t he do it when THEY were the ones in power??
Yeah, people are very much aware that his decision was solely one based on opportunity, not conscience.
Good question Rev. but like Spector I am one bullet shy of a theory.
Mike Stola and his son were so damn real. How many Healthcare battles has he had to win for his son? His pain was laid bare for all to see. However, Dingle-ling’s answer was that he has worked for 50 plus years and knew what was best for the people of his district. Then he liken Stola to the KKK he had to fight to get the Civil Right’s bill passed. Its painful to watch the Democratic Party implode. We have learned something today–POWER CORRUPTS — ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY.
Well, wish I could feel surprised to see the continued disrespect to the elderly and boomers that the Obama campaign used to divide our country last year but I’m not. I guess when one’s expectations are low well… It sickens me to see the manufactured lies and scripts used against people by Obama, et al., and the U.S. Dept. of Propaganda ~ mainstream media. On the positive, it makes me very proud to see all of those Patriotic Americans who are bravely standing and speaking up at these so-called Town Hall Meetings questioning and calling these horrible arrogant “representatives” on their deceit and lies. TPTB must be very nervous to have Biden start flapping his lips. Interesting times indeed.
BTW, we had our “Representative” Sam Rubberstamp Farr in Monterey last night for a town meeting. Of course, it was stacked two to one in the main room with his supporters and their signs up front for the cameras; about 1/3 were opponents evidently. Would anyone be surprised to hear that the “overflow room” where they were watching the meeting on the big screen but were not in the room to ask questions, were all opponents? Cowards. I hope to be one of those who can retire him next time he’s up for reelection. He’s actually the worst kind of Pol…inherited his spot from his father, Fred and never has a challenger.
BTW (and slightly off-topic), where’s the FLOTUS? Since she worked for a large Chicago hospital I’m rather surprised she doesn’t have a role during this time of intense healthcare debate. I suppose the patient-dumping accusations connected with her job may be one reason to keep her out of the fray, but it’s suddenly dawned on me that she hasn’t been in the news as much lately.
I noticed that too. I get concerned when she flies under the radar. Usually up to no good when Pols do that…and believe me she’s one of the worst.
http://www.salon.com/opinion/paglia/2009/08/12/town_halls/index1.html
Check out this article from Liberal Camille Paglia. She believes in free speech and thinks that Pelosi should step down.
My aunt sent me that article this morning. Interesting, though I think some feminists might disagree with the title, “liberal.” Then again, they were the same ones backing Obama, so forget I said anything!
Cindy, you’re welcome!
Oh, someone mentioned abt Hillary getting testy - after the incredibly sexist, misogynistic campaign we just went through, who the hell could blame her for someone asking her what her HUSBAND thought? Her work in Africa, as Megyn Kelly pointed out, has been on the treatment of WOMEN. Then she gets asked this question? Yeah - can’t say as I blame her.
And because of her boss, too, as mentioned above.
lets see pelosi and hoyer act like a$$holes in Europe or Asia, they’ll get dragged out of their shitholes and get some sense knocked into them by the “angry mob”. Many countries have no tolerance for their politicians betraying their constituents.
Thanks, as always, Rev. Amy.
What we have seen today from Dingling Dingle, Spector the Spectacle and Nurse Ratchet McCaskill is that the American people are smarter than those who represent us. They are furious with us because we finally figured out that spew nothing but crap. One young woman at a town meeting today said it best. YOU HAVE AWAKENED A SLEEPING GIANT.
So let Pelosi and Hoyer claim that we are Unamerican, domestic terrorists and whatever else they can throw at us–if they vote for this against the will of the American people they are toast in 10.
Obana supporters filmed getting bussed in.
http://www.wmur.com/video/20358253/index.html
hey harp glad to see im not the only one who cant sleep.nice job on the local news report, too bad we couldnt see the number of buses.
What I would like to know is who paid for the Buses.
Okay, that Yes We Can crap is the last straw. What kind of town meeting? People getting bussed in from all over the country.
Obama’s an organizer all right, but it doesn’t have anything to do with building communities in America.
Well done and insightful piece! It’s a damn shame we cant even peacefully assemble anymore, this administration has become nothing more than a government taking over our freedoms and our lives!
Obama can kiss my ass as well as Nancy and Harry! I am sick to death of all of them, I wish to God they would just get the hell out of our lives. This is not a government by the people and certainly not one that is for the people. They consistently do the oppisite of what we American citizens want them to do. We are no longer a democracy. Obama will have put America into ruins if he lasts four years, hopefully by then more Americans will wake up to this fraud and kick his ass out of the White House.
I can dream cant I?
This administration has never failed to disappoint. Our government is now unrecognizable, a dictator now lives in the White House and he will not stop until our beloved country is distroyed.
We need to do exactly the opposite of what Obama wants, then and only then we might have a chance.
We need representatives that will vote the will of the people and not some lackys that bow down to Obama’s every whim.
If we dont have the representation now, we must insure that in the next election we have good and honest people who will represent us and our votes in Washington.
I dont really know how much more our country can take and still come out alright, but I do know that Obama is the worst thing to happen to this country as long as we have been voting for presidents. If the American people really had their votes counted Hillary would be our leader, but our votes no longer count and havent in the last three elections. I picture our next election much like what is going on in Iran, and if we would have had the courage we also should have taken to the streets and insisted our votes be counted! They risk death if they speak out, and yet they did and are still speaking out.
I want my vote to matter and as long as we have delegates and super delegates, it never will. We must insist one person, one vote, whoever wins the popular vote is the president, because obviously that is who the American people want in the White House.
We need to completely gut the senate and start all over again. Our votes must once again count and be counted.
We must insure that everyone show a valid ID when voting, we have to where I live, why cant the nation do it that way? Its not hard to do, but I am sure Obama will have something to say against that, I mean he got the votes of every dead person and pet in the country even a few cartoon characters.
Honesty is dead and gone on Capitol Hill, integrity has no place on Capitol Hill, we have been taken over by a bunch of self serving criminals, I want them gone, fired, impeached, along with their fearless leader too!
I know y’all don’t want to hear this, but the part that is *arguably* un-American (as in, not illegal, but antithetical to American ideals) is shutting down democratic debate, including dissent. Protesting is fine, but when the Congressperson is making an attempt to communicate with constituents, trying to shut that down is antithetical to democracy.
Yeah. *Debate*. Sure.
There is no debate.
yazi: how about the Obama goons shutting down caucus rooms to Hillary voters? How about the Obama goons subverting the democratic process to get their chosen MAN on the ticket? We ain’t livin’ in a democracy anymore, not since 2000.
They’ve got some nerve calling anyone “Un-American” when they have only had one senator out of the 100 to have a kid serve in Iraq.
Here Here! That “Un_American” bs lost its sting years ago, during the time when it was Un-American to be against the war. Lets see over the past 8 years I have been called, Un-American, Racist, and a stupid, a gun toting, bible hugging redneck, uneducated, a teabagger/astroturfer, uninformed, and a stupid woman; not to mention a Clinton lover.(by people who are suppose to work for us) It’s a good thing most of us voters have a thicker skin than these so called representatives of the people. Pfffft!

The Obama people thought all they had to do was put a black man in the WH and everyone would fall in line. No one would dare to criticize him or contradict him. No one would question the tactics the DNC et al used to get him there.
It’s almost hilarious to watch them sputtering. Just can’t believe it isn’t as easy to get their bills passed as it was to get The One on the Democratic ballot.
“The Obama people thought all they had to do was put a black man in the WH and everyone would fall in line. No one would dare to criticize him or contradict him. No one would question the tactics the DNC et al used to get him there.”
*****
This is absolutely correct. The puppet masters wanted a black man in office because they just KNEW that if anyone should happen to complain about Obama’s policies, they would be called a RACIST, and of course, NOBODY wants to be called a (yikes!) ‘racist’ (sarcasim intended).
I think, FINALLY, the American people are realizing ‘o.k., I disagree with Obama, so o.k., I’m a racist’ or an ‘Uncle Tom’. The puppet masters CANNOT fight back when we ALL acknowledge that we are ‘racists/Uncle Toms’ for disagreeing with them; they have NO weapons left! LOL!
Unfortunately, I believe it’s time for Mr. Johnson to drop the “Tired of Spin” from under the site’s title as the outrage here is manufactured and over the top. Their Op/Ed actually reads, “Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American.”
NoQuarter use to be an informative site that I enjoyed, but it has taken on more of the character of a dis-information program. Sad, as I will miss it.
aha… I had suspected you for a while of being a concerned troll….. You may wish to pass this on to your dear leader. After you exit stage right, go until you see the door that says Constitution 101. Sit yourself down and learn.
