Czars, Czars Everywhere, not a Czar to Vet

Van Jones did not fill out the Questionnaire. Major Garrett (see video below) offers either Van Jones was not high ranking enough to fill out the questionnaire or that the vetting process broke down. Why are we, the tax payers paying these Czars if they are not high ranking and don’t have Obama’s attention? Me thinks there was no vetting because they thought they could get away with it.

May be he didn’t need to fill out the questionnaire despite being a high ranking official. Watch Krauthammer say why.

This is what Jarrett said about Van Jones in Politico:

Obama confidante Valerie Jarrett echoed that praise to a cheering crowd at the Netroots Nation convention this summer. “Van Jones, we were so delighted to be able to recruit him into the White House, we have been watching him really…for as long as he’s been active out in Oakland… and all of the creative ideas that he has… and now we have all of that energy and enthusiasm in the White House,” Jarrett said.

Apparently, she does not find Van Jones’ past disturbing just as Obama does not find Ayers’ past disconcerting. Maybe the Van Jones and Ayers are all just too “outspoken” for genteel republicans.

Setting aside his troubling past, what was Van Jones’ accomplishments that warranted him to become “green jobs” Czar? Was he ‘green’ at it much like his boss? (Sorry, could not resist.) For the record, liberals like Violet at Reclusive Leftist seem to like Van Jones, A LOT and think that is who we need in the White House advising the president. What surprises me is why we can’t get a good liberal who will not also give ammunition to people like Glenn Beck. Is that too much to ask? Or if people like Violet think Van Jones is what we need, why can’t Obama appoint him to a cabinet position? Give him a department and a budget to do all the fabulous things only he can do and stand by his appointment without caving in to the likes of Beck. Why the backdoor, Czardom? Is that because these people won’t be able to stand the scrutiny of a hard vetting but are still being tapped to be power brokers/mongers?

How many other czars are there?

Here is an article from a non-profit organization called Taxpayers for Common Sense that gives details about Obama’s Czars. As of July 02, 2009 when this article was written, there are 31 Czars in the Obama administration.

Glenn Beck who was partly instrumental in ‘vetting’ Van Jones (after the fact, of course) is one happy guy — his career is made — one down and at least thirty more Czars to go. If he is not rational or sane, why are the liberals letting him set the tone of discourse?

People who voted for Obama overlooked his troublesome associations and will now want to stay silent or make excuses or worse, whine when chicken come home to roost in the White House with all his less than stellar appointments.

What next? Ayers for Education Czar? Sure, he has already been vetted and pre-approved. Obama confidante, Jarrett will again say, “we have been watching him really,…for as long as he’s been active out” in Chicago, without batting an eyelid.
