Lessons Not Learned

It’s not just Republicans who are upset about Charlie Rangel’s rampant hypocrisy, as I reported recently (”Oh, Charlie“), but any American who works hard, pays his/her taxes, and follows the rules. Oh, and obeys the tax laws even though they haven’t WRITTEN any of them. Rangel cannot say the same, and pressure continues to increase for him to step down:

Uh, yeah. I’m kinda wondering what’s taken that Ethics Committee so long, too. That was my major field of study, and I’m pretty sure that it would not take me almost a year to come to a determination about this man’s lack of ethical behavior (hypocrisy aside, just the ethical issues alone). Sheesh. This is not the first time Rangel has had “ethical” problems while in office. You might recall that he paid his parking tickets out of his campaign funds. Tsk, tsk - that’s not allowed. You’d think he’d learn.

And speaking of not learning one’s lessons, how about Obama appointing ANOTHER czar after his Commie 9/11 Truther guy had to resign (though through no pressure from Obama, who seemed A-Okay with keeping Van Jones close in the West Wing)? Yep - he wasted no time in thumbing his nose at Congress, and us, by elevating Ron Bloom to the position of Czar of Manufacturing Policy (so he uses the term, “Senior Counselor,” but same difference). I might add, once again, it wasn’t just Republicans who thought it was inappropriate to have a Communist working in the West Wing with the ear of the President, either. That’s just a smokescreen to try to blame it on anyone else but Obama. But I digress.

You may remember Bloom from his previous job on the Task Force for the US takeover ofGM. Oops - I mean, Bloom was a member of the Auto Task Force. Again, same difference. And, Bloom was formerly with the United Steel Workers. I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise that Obama decided to make his announcement before the AFL-CIO at a picnic, right? Didn’t think so.

And I guess none of us should be surprised when Obama continues to thumb his nose at the process, at Congress, and more importantly, US. I suppose I should be grateful that Bloom isn’t a Marxist Name Calling Fruit Loop, but still - this defiance, no, make that insouciance, by Obama is just a tad irritating, isn’t it? I wonder what position he’ll give Charlie?

Have’t you heard? Obama is to be the new head of the UN Security Council. Plus the UN is calling for the end of the dollar and a new world currency.
So you see he is going to be very busy getting rid
of America.

Comment by Docelder | 2009-09-08 22:09:57

Yes, this communist vs. socialist vs. Marxist bit is just dividing us and hiding the truth. The truth is Obama = Bush III. How and why that is even possible is the real story lost in this. How plausible is it that nobody foresaw this Van Jones debacle? Not likely, more likely it was foreseen as just another tool to divide us and confuse us while global banksters fleece every dime we have or ever will have. This is like the Grapes of Wrath except the company store is now more like the global marketplace.

Comment by Katmoon | 2009-09-08 22:17:23

It’s true Docelder; we are being torn apart from all directions. It makes people turn on each other instead of focusing on who really is creating the diversion for the most gain they can grab in the confusion. Even as I stand in the middle, no party ever again for me; I still see both sides pulling and pulling. It just keeps everyone whipped up; like a poor animal that keeps getting beaten. Eventually that animal will snap.

The truth is Obama = Bush III.

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2009-09-08 22:29:31

Excellent points - and yes, we are being divided, and not just divided, but pitted one against the other. Divide and conquer, right?

And I agree - surely SOMEONE must have known that Jones was going to be a problem unless their arrogance is so high that they think NO ONE is going to challenge The One. I think they are seeing that some people are coming out of their kool-aide induced haze…

The Unvetting of Van Jones

The Obama administration has been pushing the line that the (forced) resignation of its “green jobs czar” Van Jones is a story about botched vetting. However, Fox News confirmed what members of past administrations already knew — that Jones was investigated by the FBI (and perhaps others), regardless of whether Jones filled out the standard questionnaire for presidential appointees.

The Obama administration didn’t need no stinkin’ questionnaire to know who Van Jones — communist-cum-eco-socialist Truther – was:

Mr. Jones was a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, which was established, funded and celebrated as the new intellectual vanguard of the Democratic Party. The center’s president is John Podesta, who was co-chair of Mr. Obama’s transition team and thus played a major role in recommending appointees throughout the Administration.

As lefty blogger-activist Jane Hamsher noted, Jones was exceedingly well-known within the Sorosphere:

Thanks, tzada. I knew he had to be - I think I mentioned this recently, that even Bob Becktel, the Dem. Strategist on Fox, said the FBI and Secret Service botched this TERRIBLY, and that Jones should step down IMMEDIATELY.

Apparently, Valerie Jarrett’s word means more to Obama than the FBI and SS combined. And now, he can turn it around and claim we a re all a bunch of right-wing racists for not wanting an avowed Communist in the White Wing.

Thanks, tzada - I can always count on you for finding the goods!

Yes, indeed. While the electorate’s attention is completely diverted playing the semantic game “Less Marxist, More Fascist; More Fascist, Less Marxist” pin-the-tail-on-the-talking-jackass game, the real action is taking place behind the scenes–just as it did with Shrub. These diversions happen like clockwork, with the expendable getting thrown under the bus as the next diversion in the queue enters, allowing the real news to slip by under the radar.

We’ve been had, are being had, and will continue to be had until we wake up.

Comment by elizabethrc | 2009-09-09 08:07:59

This all came to pass because of how unfashionable it was to criticize the One. They thought they would put the fear of God in us and ’shame’ us if we pointed out any negatives about Obama. Much to their surprise, the oppose effect has been and is being had: a national anger (even rage) has spread throughout this country and the blame lies squarely at the feet of him, his administration and his cohorts.
We can all say it now: Obama is bad for democracy, bad for America, and we can say it or shout it from the rooftops, if we like. He must learn that this country is far bigger, better and more important than His Perfectness.
Americans will easily sacrifice him for the sake of keeping our country safe, secure, fairminded and a democracy.

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2009-09-09 16:16:13

Elizabeth, not just that it was unfashionable, but we were demonized as RACISTS if we dared to try and hold Obama to the same standard as EVERY OTHER presidential candidate. Even Dubya had to cough up his transcripts, for cryin’ out loud. But Obama? Hah!

Remember when Hillary tried to ask him abt his connections to Tony Rezko, and got BOOED for it during a debate? He lashed out and asked her abt Wal-Mart - talk abt your apples and oranges, she had nowhere NEAR the kind of connection to Wal-Mart that he did to Rezko, but no one would ask him abt it. (And so much for his being “even keeled” - he is even more petulant than Bush was when pressed on something. Docelder is right on target - Obama = Bush.)

Just like Barry’s attitude about disclosing documents:

You can bet the CIA officers that he’s attacking have had to present their paperwork before being getting security clearances and getting hired.

Now it looks like Barry may have to as well. Hallelujah!

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2009-09-08 19:26:34

Well, apparently, everyone else takes their cue from Obama. Van Jones didn’t even bother to fill out the WH Questionnaire and he got to work in the West Wing, too! Evidently, we have entered the age of absolutely NO accountability for people’s records or lack thereof, their beliefs, their statements on the record, none of it. The Age Of Obama…

The FBI says that he did fill out the report and they did redflag him and their warnings were ignored. So two conflicting reports.

As for Obama thumbing hids nose at Congress, why should we be surprised. a) he is just doing what Bush did, albeit it looks like he is going even further. b) the DNC and media enabled his every move so why should he think there is any accountability now.

Unfortunately, standards of ethical conduct do not matter because they have been cast aside in an I-got-mine-you-get-yours egocentrism that is all too prevalent in our society, It is all about the end and never about the means to that end and about the greatest good for the smallest number–the one–utilitarianism turned on its head.

Comment by Docelder | 2009-09-08 22:18:19

It is all about the end and never about the means to that end

Yes, by any means necessary. As a society, we now worship winners over those who play by the rules. We worship notoriety over responsibility. We celebrate our new President who “got game” and who rewrote the rules by which campaigns will be handled from this date forward. We desperately need a moral compass.

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2009-09-08 22:33:52

Well said, Ferd and Docelder.

Docelder, you are spot on abt the notoriety, AND campaigns from here on out…

Yes, we definitely need a “moral compass.”

Comment by tek | 2009-09-09 08:33:35

Docelder: Exactly. That’s what the United States is now all about: corruption for profit and power. I just laugh at people who believe Obama is the answer to the problems in this country; Obama is the result of the corruption problems in this country.

For those who think meeting the Constitutional requirements for the presidency is important, good news:

Portion of WND article by Jerome Corsi, from around 4 p.m. EST:

“A California judge today tentatively scheduled a trial for Jan. 26, 2010, for a case that challenges Barack Obama’s eligibility to be president based on questions over his qualifications under the requirements of the U.S. Constitution.

“If the case actually goes to arguments before U.S. District Judge David Carter, it will be the first time the merits of the dispute have been argued in open court, according to one of the attorneys working on the issue.

“In a highly anticipated hearing today before Carter, several motions were heard, including a resolution to long-standing questions about whether attorney Orly Taitz properly served notice on the defendants, which she had.

“In a second ruling, Carter ordered that attorney Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation can be added to the case to represent plaintiffs Wiley Drake and Markham Robinson, who had been removed by an earlier court order. Drake, the vice presidential candidate for the American Independent Party, and Robinson, the party’s chairman, also were restored to the case.

[snip]

“But the judge did not immediately rule on Taitz’ motion to be granted discovery – that is the right to see the president’s still-concealed records. Nor did Carter rule immediately on a motion to dismiss the case, submitted by the U.S. government, following discussion over Taitz’ challenge to the work of a magistrate in the case.

“The judge did comment that if there are legitimate constitutional questions regarding Obama’s eligibility, they need to be addressed and resolved.

“Carter ordered a hearing Oct. 5 on the motion to dismiss and ordered arguments submitted on the issue of discovery.

“If the case survives that challenge, a pretrial hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 11 and the trial for two weeks later.

“The case would be the first time, according to Kreep, that the actual merits of the dispute will have been heard in open court. A multitude of such disputes have been rejected out of hand by various state and federal courts. Even the U.S. Supreme Court repeatedly has rejected urgent appeals to hear the evidence.

“The suit alleges Obama is actually a citizen of Indonesia and “possibly still citizen of Kenya, usurping the position of the president of the United States of America and the commander-in-chief.”

What is the cost of contract(s) being paid for the private contractors to protect the American interests/bases in Iraq- a billion + . Hello, all! We do have to STOP bashing Bush! At least he was pro-America, he loved his country, he kept up safe, he did try at least three times to investigate Fannie and Freddie but was told no, he and Laura were genuine in the way they treated others, and wasn’t out to destroy out country- I agree that he caved at the end, and allowed the dems who ruled Congress during his last two years- he should have used his power to veto their spending…
BUT-LOOK AT WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW! I truthfully can see no comparison between the two, in any way-
We all need to realize that we are under siege, with a “president” who is intent upon destroying all that is good, wonderful and unique about our country! We MUST agree to band together and work to stop his destruction, or we are ALL lost!
