ACORN, Little Girls, and the Red Light Business
By Pat Racimora on September 12, 2009 at 8:01 PM in Current Affairs
A couple of staff members at the Baltimore office of ACORN know an awful lot about helping people with very special housing needs. You’ve already no doubt seen how they helped cook up multiple schemes as to how a couple they believed to be a prostitute and her partner could set up a brothel and violate all sorts of tax laws. That made me mad.
But that’s not what made me furious enough to spit nails.
Without so much as a blink or facial twitch, the ACORN staffers freely, even enthusiastically, offered advice about how to handle the 15 underage El Salvadorian girls the couple claimed to be illegally bringing into the country to service the Johns. Their advice as to how to handle an abusive pimp? “Be careful. Train them [14 year olds] to keep their mouths shut.” How to get away with not reporting the money the girls brought in? No problem because as long as they are under 16, “they don’t even exist.” Indeed, handy tips flowed about how this illegal operation could safely avoid detection.
If I ask what is the worst thing that one human being can do to another, I’m pretty certain that the sexual abuse and exploitation of children would be at the top of most people’s list. That ACORN, already beleaguered by other scandals, would hire people who are capable of casually participating in the sexual slavery of kids is beyond outrage.
The couple seeking ACORN’s advice, of course, was actually conducting a sting. The only saving grace is that those 15 underage girls were just talk. Thank God–this time anyway.

Pat, you draw so well! Even when the subject is soooo evil your drawings always register! Thanks for continuing (I assume) with no pay? I hope you are recognized somehow and rewarded for all your hard work. Perhaps you are and I am just unaware! That would be GOOD.
if this story were reversed………..
GOD HELP the WRATH that’s MISSING at this point from ANY HUMANS LEFT ON THE LEFT???? KNOCK KNOCK?
YO YO YO - YOU ALL MUST GO!
Resign BARRY!!!
you ARE ACORN! (down to your very core)
Thanks Ladydawnelle for the very kind comments. The rewards for doing these toons and stories are beyond wonderful, although not so much of the monetary variety.
Intrinsic rewards are the very best rewards of all, as I learn as I get a little older and wiser.
Is it true that the prosecutor is considering bringing charges of “illegal wiretapping” against the man and woman who exposed this mess?
we need to know the NAME OF THIS PROSECUTOR!!!
(then LET IT GO VIRAL)
ugh huh
State’s Attorney for Baltimore City Patricia Jessamy, an Obama supporter who worked on the Maryland For Obama Steering Committee…

PUMA W00T!!
U GO SF! Thank ya kindly!
Oooo there are some good CNN clips of the tea parties over at your link as well! WooT!! I am so glad to see them!
Maryland is one of a handful of states that has a law requiring both sides to consent to a recording. As a former TV reporter in Washington, DC that was something we needed to be concerned about. I could do “undercover” work without a problem in DC. Maryland was another issue. Never tested the law.
Don’t remember whether the state has a reporter “shield” law that might protect journalists. And with today’s technology, just about anyone can be a citizen journalist. I’m really disgusted by what’s happened to journalism. Reporters have become lapdogs instead of watchdogs. But it’s nice to see these two young kids (20 and 25 years old) do a nifty bit of undercover work. That’s real journalism. I’d sure like to see more of it. Let’s hope the prosecutor uses discretion and decides not to prosecute.
Some competent authority should look at all the Acorn-assisted real estate bank loan applications submitted to Freddie and Fannie Mae and see how many false information were supplied. Submitting false information for the purpose of securing a loan is a federal crime.
I truly believe those “women” (though I have a hard time thinking of them as human) were just jumping for joy to have a future politician in their debt.
I have been unable to think of anything but this corruption. We need a true old-style muckraking journalist doing a full-scale investigation of ACORN, writing it up soon and releasing it.
None of my O-loving acquaintances want to see the videos because, I suppose, they wouldn’t be able any longer to believe that it is just a one-time fluke of some sort.
Our daily today in Denver had a small story hidden midway in the news section about the arrest of the ACORN voter fraud in Florida. The very last line of the story (where anyone who has studied the inverted pyramid style of news writing knows only a very few people read) had a mention of the videos.
You “nailed it” once again, Tricia!
that logo as a red light is so awesome pat!! it is a disgusting story, but your toon is fabulous!
(not your story, the story about acorn!) ehhe
I keep getting this mental image of Obama slowing down the Limo in front of a school, waving candy bars out the window.
Harp,
My Mom just got done telling me “he’s like some Pied Piper”
and earlier my Daughter told me she NOW thinks O is an A hold! This is progress!
PAIDPIPER?
Harp,
that’s HOLE (of course)
You are spot on on this one Pat. These people give a whole new meaning to the word ’sleaze’. I think the next four years will be one revelation after another and arrests and resignations all over the place.
It’s been a long time coming.
One word for ACORN=COCHINO
Pat,
The expressions on the faces of your little girls says so much; the little native looking girl, not even revealing her eyes. The little girl in the orange staring at the red light and the little girl in yellow, consoling the little girl in blue. Where are the adults? I think they are absent on purpose, but I may be reading too much into this. You know oowawa got us started on this!
During a tragic time in our history, blacks were sold on auction blocks, children were separated from their families and often raped by their owners. Certainly, you would think that those women would be more sensitive to slavery (which is exactly what young girls are who are kidnapped and used as prostitutes), but instead they do what they can to council them to have the kids keep their mouths shut so the pimps won’t get caught. These same women, I have no doubt, were probably the one’s calling those who would not vote for Obama, “racists”. It’s funny how it’s racism when it’s black girls being exploited, but just “good business” when it’s young girls from El Salvador.
Those ACORN women should be thrown in jail.
Why did these women even assume the background of these kids was just hispanic? There is a lot of black slavery background throughout all these countries. Unfortunately, I don’t think they would have cared even if they had been shown pictures of girls that looked like they were black.
Horrible women.
But what can we expect from a culture that gave an Academy Award to a song called “It’s Hard Out Here For a Pimp”? Or lyrics from rap songs that legitimize that occupation?
if I ever showed up for work wearing a TANK shirt 2 sizes too small for me with my boobs hanging out and my b.o. pits to the breeze? well I’d be fired on the spot! Especially if I’m working to help poor people get housing.
R U friggen kiddin me???? what country was this made in anyway???
I noticed the same thing, ladydawnelle and remarked on it yesterday in the initial thread. Actually, the two of them looked as though they needed an introduction to soap and water, nevermind proper attire for meeting the public.
thank goodness we don’t have olfactory screens
but honestly I am shocked! I’ve spent many years disabled and I go to the local health dept and other places when need be and no matter where I am the (mostly) Ladies that help me are ALWAYS dressed to the 9’s!! I mean they have their BEST jewelry even!
These are mostly all red states though so I have no clue how the blue states govern their people - let it all hang out? what EVA! I’m voting against that one. I still have SOME dignity.
I agree. Even here in East Tennessee, there are many truly poor people. However, they still understand that being clean is a must. Clothes can be old or out of fashion and no one cares. The issue here isn’t what you have but how you present yourself. Just be presentable and clean. It isn’t much to ask, I would think.
I think another disturbing element of the vids, the first one I think, you can distinctly hear the voices of young children from the outer room. Meanwhile, the “adults” are talking about how to set up a brothel in the city, what to tell the 13 young girls [who will presumably be smuggled into the country for the sex trade] and how to bend the truth and beat the law in the process.
Nice going, ACORN. Showing your true colors for the whole world to see.
As far as the prosecutor from Baltimore who wants to charge all the wrong parties? Her office should be flooded with emails and phone calls from the outraged public.
This has to stop!
That was without a doubt the worst part of this sordid mess. That two women, presumably the mothers of those with children, would discuss such things without regard to what their children might hear is more than appalling. In fact, it is so wrong, I am bereft of proper words to describe it and will leave it at that so as to not get banned from the site. I am just disgusted beyond words.
a little off topic but i just watched colter hand geraldo his ass because smiling jack said joe wilson was racist because he is from south carolina and they still fly a state flag with the stars and bars in it.the logic of this escapes me but then again im not a world renown ass like geraldo is.
Holder needs to start an immediate investigation into every transaction that has transpired at these 2 locations.
More tapes are coming out.
It goes all the way to Obama and we all know it.
What a morally corrupt piece of shit all of these people are!
Their children should be removed from their homes. They are pediphiles. They have no problem with slavery.
CAROL HAKA
carol i just came from cnn and had to shower first as the filth that was being put forth over there was disgusting.one poster even went so far to say the tapes were doctored.deniale is not a river in africa.btw english daily mail is reporting that homeland security estimated todays crowd at 2 million where our state run abc is now saying 60 thousand what a load of bs.
I went to the Tea Party Express in Addison, Texas 9 days ago. There were over 5000 at 11 am on a Friday. 60 in DC - more lying bull sh*t!
And, we had 3 news choppers on us. Where were they in DC?

State’s Attorney for Baltimore City Patricia Jessamy
Her daughter came up with the slogan Barack the Vote…
I wonder how she would feel if her daughter was pimped by Acorn for a brothel home….
Pat, this toon says it all. Wow…
hey rev how are ya.
Seeing the video of this exchange, I was stunned. As my momma would say, they have dark souls.
Went to the march! Wow! Best part a new political party unveiled today, It is going to be home for this Republican!! Everyone, go to it and pass it on!
birthofaparty.com GO!!!!
I think I’ll just stay independent, thanks.
As the old Tom Lehrer song says “And I don’t like anybody very much.”
What a wonderful cartoon on a very sad and serious subject. I find it interesting that there is a lantern in it. The lantern can represent the red light district or it can represent the little girls looking for a better life, or even the idea that Acorn needs to find some honesty and humanity in what they do and to bring their leadership, policies, and practices into the light. It can also represent all three and that would work for me also.
I am sorry about the existence of the behavior in an organization that is supposed to be standing up for the poor and receiving untold financial support in their goal. It is even more shocking that it was done by what many people consider an oppressed minority to another oppressed minority which is children, women, and people from poor countries.
It does show that it is not only the rich, which are sometimes thought of as money hungry and not caring about others, but that this behavior can be found at any level of society since greed can exist at any level, just like a social conscience can and does exist at every level of society. I say this because too often if it is a charity, a religious organization, or someone who is supposed to help the poor, we think they do not need to be carefully monitored.
Rich
Rich,
I’m hoping the lantern might come to mean that someone may pick up the lantern and shine a bright hot white light on the scum that ACORN is. When something bad is too big to infiltrate or invesstigate you know they are protected by some major money and powers that be. That’s who needs to be exposed and stopped, not the sleazy employees in the video.
Pat, the young girl on the left, her arm around the other, consoling her. This happens everyday in this country.Gets me right in the string.
what escapes me is how to reconcile what it is to be called a human being and comparing it to these “underage El Salvadorian girls”, with a second thought. It could one their sisters. WTF is missing in these sorry examples of humanity sense of what is right and WRONG.
The first thing I would have done is call the autorities and reported it.
The spam filter took my comment.
I felt the same way when I saw this video as Pat - “furious enough to spit nails” - that young girls brought to this country to work in a brothel was just A-ok with the ACORN employees. Now, we learn that the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City is going after the filmmakers instead of ACORN. Two years ago, I would have been shocked. Today, it seems par for the course. This couldn’t happen without the complicity of the press. Thankfully, there are blogs, such as NQ, and talk radio that are not under the spell of The One.

Oops…forgot to say great post! Looking forward to your next one.
I can’t believe the whole thing was happening in *my country.* And under the guise of “helping the poor.”

Still flaberghasted.
Kudos for your art, and your article, Pat! Well said. And well drawn.
Pat,
Great toon to describe a stunningly horrid situation. You’ve captured one aspect of the disgrace that was discussed. According to the young man who made the film, they kept pushing with more and more outrageous scenarios since the ACORN women (not ladies by any stretch of the imagination) didn’t blink at the prospect of adult prostitution or the tax evasion and fraud. It was only when they were being cheered on that he threw in the most egregious scenario he could imagine - bringing in under aged, illegal immigrants to service sleazy men and make money on them.
Not only did they tell the couple how to lie on their tax documents, they admitted “This is what I do”. I hope their returns are pulled and gone over with a fine-tooth comb by someone not under the influence of Kool-Aid. These women are crooks, they work for and are encouraged by bigger crooks. Someone is getting extremely wealthy and powerful from the good work that ACORN does. I sincerely hope there are people from Maryland on this blog that plan to work with others on a campaign to strongly object to the AG’s lack of focus on the criminal activity of ACORN while she tries to punish the investigators. Calls to local media, letters to the editor, calls to the Governor and the AG are all in order. Baltimorians should be up in arms.
Why is anyone surprised by this? In the first place, Obama’s golden rule is “Divide and Conquer.” If you look at his past, that has been the governing principle behind all his actions.
Obama plays the race card oh so deftly. There is, unfortunately, racism both within the black community itself, and between blacks and other non-whites. I have seen it myself. I have heard what some black people have to say about hispanics: “dirty, breed like cockroaches, want to take over our country.” You would think one oppressed minority would have empathy for another minority. Not so. Not so at all. For some people it’s a zero sum game: if another minority group comes on the scene, they might take away the “victim” status.
One of my black co-workers complained about the Korean delis. “They charge too much. They rip us off. The only reason they’re successful is that the whole family works from sun up to sun rise.” I’ll let you draw your own conclusions from that statement.
People learn from their leaders. What has Obama taught us about the status of women? Again, I leave it to the reader to answer this question.
It is a sad and sorry fact that human beings can be so perverse. Sometimes the most active oppressors against women are women. Refresh your memory by re-reading Margaret Atwood’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” and take a look at the role of the “aunts” (Aunt Lydia in particular) in enslaving the handmaids.
An excellent commentary, Arabella with which I concur.
What Ferd said.
It seemed that these women were running a child care center in one room, tax evasion and job placement in another.
In the D.C. tape, one of them was very anxious to hand out her realtor’s card.
Being under-priviledged is no excuse for such slimy behavior!
It re-enforces all the sterotypes about the inner city, and creates a backlash on every individual who has succeeded in spite of coming from those environs.
If we measure Obama’s effectiveness by his ability to fulfill his “divide and conquer” anthem, then I guess we would have to give him a A+
Yup, There was a very good reason for jim crow.
This is it.
HEPT-Uncalled for and really don’t want to see this kind of post on this site.
Thank you, I was very sick to my stomach. Do these women have children? Monsters!
And it is not an isolated incident!
ACORN Fires More Officials for Helping ‘Pimp,’ ‘Prostitute’ in Washington Office
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,549241,00.html
Just heard that Acorn is planning to sue Fox for apparently being in cahoots with the undercover citizen reporters. This whole thing is just getting more and more weird.
Fire the human garbage that wants to legalize via taxes underage kids and allow them to go undetected. This is CHILD TRAFFICKING and sexual slavery of the most despicable order.
Put these “women” (?) in jail and sue ACORN. Now we know for sure where Obama got his rigged caucuses and political “savvy”. A COMMUNITY PIMP ORGANIZER….
Pat, a very sad cartoon. It is obvious that PIMPS and their victims are welcome in these housing units. They all ready live there. This is not a new question to the ACORN workers, they all ready “play the game”.
Let us all remember that there are parts of our country and in big and little cities that have areas that no one should live in, but many call the neighborhoods home. Bad places, life expectancy low, jail time a welcome reprieve from the street life, earning your bones. A different world. Outsiders can not comprehend what life is like there.
Do we burn these neighborhoods down? Where do the people live? Who is responsible for these places?
How can people get OUT? If you are born there, you are DEAD. Walking dead. Don’t blame ACORN, it is a societal problem. We are viewing REALITY of others.
