The 13th Amendment to the Constitution was passed by the Congress on January 31, 1865, and ratified by the states on December 6, 1865 and it declares that “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude…shall exist within the United States.”
We claim we abolished slavery in the US, but we did not. We only passed a law and made it illegal. We said as a society we find the acts and practices of slavery so reprehensible and inherently harmful to our society, that hence forth we will not tolerate them.
But slavery still exist in America today. We just don’t see it. It is no longer this easily identified black vs white, North vs South, leg chains and bull whips image that we can point at in horror and outrage. Slavery has gone underground and become embedded in our society.

Are you still wondering what does ACORN has to do with slavery?
According to the US department of Justice:
…Under federal law, the technical term for modern-day slavery or coerced labor is “severe forms of trafficking in persons.” …
defined as 1) sex trafficking in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion or in which the person induced to perform such an act is under 18;
or 2) the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for labor or services, through the use of force, fraud, or coercion, for the purpose of subjecting that person to involuntary servitude, peonage, debt bondage, or slavery.
…Trafficking covers the use of minors for commercial sexual activity even if there is no force, fraud, or coercion.
Did you catch that last line. Minors, children under the age of 18, can not give informed consent and so they can not voluntarily join a brothel. They can not voluntarily become a prostitute. You don’t have to cross borders or state lines with a minor – it is trafficking.
So how prevalant is it in our society?
The FBI believes that more than 100,000 people are enslaved in the U.S., with an additional 30,000 shipped across state borders and transported to other countries annually.
Toni Morrison discussed her book “A Mercy” on NPR:
Professor MORRISON: … I wanted to see what it might have been like to remove race from slavery, because slavery was not this strange thing. Every civilization in the world relied on it. But the notion was that there was a difference between black slaves and white slaves. And there wasn’t. The difference was in what they set white slaves up as. They called them indentured servants. And the suggestion has always been that they could work off their passage, in seven years generally, and then they would be free.
And many times they were offered or promised something called a freedom fee. But in fact, you could be indentured for life and frequently were. The only difference between African slaves and European or British slaves was that the latter could run away and melt into the population. But if you were black, you were noticeable. So I’m looking at slavery as a universal phenomenon.
Yes, slavery really is a universal phenomenon. It is just not a historical one. It is alive and well and living among us throughout the world – including the US. And if you think it is just a big city thing. Think again.

Within 48 hours of running away from home, statistics show one in three youth are lured into prostitution. Statistics also show the average age of entry into prostitution is 12. The statistics are startling, yet they apply to Wichita.

When we believe it does not exist.

This has been my constant question for over two years. WE are the MSM now, so let’s keep hollering.
I was thinking that earlier today when I was listening to Glen Beck (I still remember when I didn’t like him) that the “new” news are the blogs, FOX, and us.
I caught a little bit of Olbermann, and they are still stuck on how many people were at the tea party march and Joe Wilson.
Yesterday, I was listening to Thom Hartman and he actually said the signs at the march were “professionally done in a way to look amateur.” Okay, that is really a desparate stretch if I have ever heard one. I almost choked on my bagel when he said that! And then he went on to say how people made their signs just to get all the attention (paraphrase there). Well..Duh!!
Yes, after I paid my graphics artist to make those very expensive amateurish looking professional signs I was broke. Social Security check doesn’t go as far as it used to and we’re not getting any increase for at least 2 years. My Medicare costs went up though. How many billions is Obama going to save from Medicare to pay for that 50 million oops I mean 30 million uninsured? I can see how great my health care is going to get. Gee your bagel really sounds good.

This notion of getting the “brown vote” by placating them during the elections with handouts to all the numerous latin community organizations and reffering to their plight in almost every left-wing trail speech, should now be refuted by these same organizations. Dobbs has actually has gone a few rounds with ACORN and with Bertha Lewis some time ago. She claimed on his show, months ago, that there were NO investigations of ACORN going on anywhere and that he was wrong for saying that there were.
And Charlie Gibbs knew nothing about the ACORN story and supposedly said, “leave it to the cables.” That is a journalist? I don’t think so. That is a Prime Time example of a Talking Head. IMHO!

I find it really distressing in the MSM blurbs I read about the ACORN tapes, how they only concentrate on the pimp and prostitute trying to get housing money for a brothel. They rarely ever mention the more distressing part of what the tapes expose – that these two people tell ACORN they have child prostitutes working for them that were smuggled into the US. 12-15 year olds and the ACORN workers don’t even bat an eye. All to make money for their organization and increase their paychecks.

I watched the above “release” on the Acorn expose tonight on Sean Hannity. It was even more disgusting than the previous ones. It seems tonight’s “featured Acorn employee” met what appears to be Acorn’s stringent requirements for employment – i. e. a criminal past and a “sociopathic worldview”.
BTW my recommendation for those networks and news programs that overlook the “real news”, turn on those shows that do try to cover the news. Even if you can’t watch them as I sometimes cannot, I sometimes leave on Fox Cable News at night because our local cable company will show our household has on this network so that drives “Fox’s” ratings up and of course helps to drive the others down.

You know what the MSM is saying about all this? They are claiming that this is nothing more then a conservative plot to take down ACORN. These people have lost all forms of decency.
That is a bunch of baloney. Nobody forced these people to go along with this. All they had to do was say “hell no and get out of this office”. But they didn’t did they? That’s hardly the fault of conservatives plotting anything.
There seems to have been more disgust and outrage at allegations that Michael Jackson was abusing children than ACORN workers, caught right there on tape. The denial is absolutely infuriating.
