Where the hell are the media scoundrels on the recent ACORN scandal?
I will let Jon handle that with one wish — that he do this more often than not.

FROM LARRY JOHNSON: PM317 stole my thunder. Good for her. Stewart cuts to the heart of the issue–the media abdication of its job to be the Fourth Branch of government. The staunch refusal of the mainstream media to do even a cursory investigation of ACORN is despicable and ultimately poses a threat to our democracy. Thank God for Andy Breitbart and the balls to do a serious investigation.
To add to Larry’s note: Here is an article from Politico, that minimizes the scandal at the same time revealing the depravity of the elite media. The executive producer of “World News,” Jon Banner called the scandal “noise” and the anchor of that program, Gibson was not even aware of the scandal.
ABC “World News” anchor Charles Gibson seemed caught off guard by the ACORN tapes on Tuesday when he told Chicago radio hosts Don Wade and Roma that he hadn’t heard of them, in a clip flagged by prominent conservative blogger Michelle Malkin. Gibson added that “maybe this is just one you leave to the cables.”
And how many stories these news networks carried on the multiple scandals we have had in the last couple of weeks:
During Beck’s show on Monday, he stood in front of a blackboard-like screen, citing statistics that he said demonstrated the mainstream media’s lackadaisical coverage of the ACORN and Van Jones stories.
“Reports on Van Jones, from appointment to resignation. Look at this: Fox had 51 reports on this guy. CNN was next, with nine. MSNBC, two. The New York Times, one. Washington Post, four. The ACORN corruption — this is your money. Fox has had 133 reports on it. CNN, 90. MSNBC, 10 — how’s that possible? Hey, ABC, how’s it working out for you, with two?” Beck’s onscreen tally credited CBS with two Jones stories, and ABC and NBC with one apiece.
The Politico article is a mish-mash of condescension toward Fox News Network and the ACORN sting operations and of getting flat footed about reporting on the burgeoning scandal stories. I hope more Hannah Giles’ and James O’Keefes step up in place of where traditional news people used to be. There has never been a time when the mainstream media has been so irrelevant as it is now.

Actually there were more than one in more than one city. Also, this story forced the US Census office to drop ACORN from performing the US Census. The Senate also voted 83-7 to deny ACORN any further federal funding.
It ain’t much but it’s a start.

ACORN’s investigation may involve some cleanup, and by that I mean some scrubbing of the books and shredding of the documents!
They probably started that around a year ago when they hired the new CEO. I imagine that’s what she was for.
So, now their internal investigation will go something like this:
“Did you see anything?”
“No. Did you?”
“No. Guess we’re done.”
This is a great chance for us to back Obama into a corner and force him to order an independent prosecutor to look deeply into Acorn.
This taints him, with his close ties to Acorn (he was a trainer for them and is on record as saying to (paraphrasing him) get tougher on them than they are on us), he has nowhere to run.
Now that the news is getting out across the country, the mainstream media will have no choice but to report on Acorn, or face widespread scorn for their blatant bias. I note that even Matthews last night was talking about the over the top racism claims circulating against anyone disagreeing with Obama. The media risk shutting down if they don’t change. I have cancelled my local paper!

Those young reporters got the story first and FOX NEWS RAN WITH IT and now CNN, MSN, NBC, ABC, CBS, are all playing catch up. BUT THAT’S OK GO AND KISS UP TO OBAMA SOME MORE AND LEAVE THE REAL REPORTING TO 20 YEAR OLDS WHO HAVE A BACK BONE.

Too bad not one of the MSN did any investigative reporting about ACORN’s and the SEIU’s behavior during the Democratic primary either. I agree that Bush’s military record should have been better scrutinized; however, the other organizations didn’t do such a bang up job on that either. But Bush’s military record had nothing to do with the news now.
It was more than one city, and there will be more investigations.
I will be hopping mad if Congress allows ACORN to hire the “outside” investigation. I want the people who have been giving them some of my money to do some digging and investigating.

I tried to warn you about this guy couple of weeks back (in a an exchange where seattle moss was also there.) This other Just Me is a troll.
I always look for the double ~~ on both sides of your name.
The regulars know that, ~~JustMe~~. The name trolls are everywhere. I got trolled the other day. They’ve run out of options. A year+ of badgering regulars here has made no difference so they’ve resorted to doing the same things their 12-year old friends do (besides wearing the beanie and plastic chin strap).
Again, it wasn’t an isolated incident in one ACORN office. They were all giving tax money to prostitutes. And that’s just one crime. I’m sure they help drug dealers, muggers, etc. You heard that woman, “whatever the government doesn’t get money from is illegal.” That’s how these people think. So any crime you can get away with is fine.
This is the part of black culture that keeps these people down and seemingly is impossible to correct.

I well remember NoQuarter’s expose of Acorn — what was it? A year, a year and a half ago? For those new to this site, you might do a search and revisit the investigation that was done then. Corrupt Acorn and its ties to Obama are not news to me.

He showed Obama saying “We WILL enact new regulations. We WILL bring in oversight, and skewered him with:

Rumor has it he is connecting some dots with Valerie Jarret, Bill Ayers, Frank Marshall Davis? But don’t quote me on that, just rumors as far as I know, but Hannity is touting soemthing big coming out on Friday night on his show. Tune in.

As for these two muckrakers, they may wind up showing how many different jurisdictional rules there are regarding conspiracy liability. Some jurisdictions require that only one participant intend to commit a crime. Some require that both parties intend. Some will permit the tapes as evidence, some will not. The big problem for the ACORN reps will be if the feds decide to make a show of it. Trafficking the minors over state lines, and tax evasion are both federal crimes. If I were the ACORN workers, I would be hiring a good lawyer, not some sh*tty pro-bono defense lawyer from a “community organization” but a real lawyer.
ACORN itself probably needs to close up shop now. These videos are going to keep coming out, and the only way to eliminate their relevance is for there to be no more ACORN. The Democrats are just going to have to cut this limb off or the gangrene is going to spread to the whole body. It may be too late.

Yes, this is a good thing but the unions are better protected and are really a better vehicle for the left. I think the push is already toward the unions and ACORN is going under the Obama bus. The media would be all over this… if it weren’t for the fact that Obama has a history with ACORN and if the story wasn’t going to hurt the left. Which just proves that the press isn’t free. It isn’t controlled like in third world countries, it is just corrupt. But, no more corrupt than the way that our congress and senate deal with special interests or no more corrupt than the process which takes place now when somebody gets the idea to pass a major piece of legislation. These bills don’t grow to 1000 pages on their own. If lawmakers aren’t even reading them, then they aren’t writing them either. We need a second revolution. It doesn’t have to be French style. But… whatever.

I do think it’s funny that Stewart used the word “Audacity” in his title, which points directly to Obama…in a non pointy kinda way. I wonder how long it will be before Stewart is called a racist by the Obot crowd.
The corporate controlled MSM are doing more to undermine the trust between the people of this country and their governmental institutions….The Fringe Media AKA-MSM, controlled and corrupted by the large corporate institutions, lie and distort the truth. We saw this during the Democratic primaries where they suger coated and propped up Barry Soetoro. Acusing Hillary and her Democratic supporters as racist. They did the same with the general election. Just an observation. What makes these ACORN people qualified to give tax advice with our tax dollars anyway? Can you imagine what advice they are giving regular people who come to them for help? the bigger deal with acorn is that it is one tentacle, along with apollo, seiu and how many others we do not know, involved with voter fraud, the ’stimulus’ package, union exemptions from disastrous health care reform and the housing crisis, forcing legislation to insist banks loan money to people who couldn’t pay them back.
it is not just a few cases, but an institutionalized force of corruption, greed, and power grabbing.
