Raising the stakes involved in the scandal surrounding the anti-poverty group ACORN, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is urging a “full investigation” by California Attorney General Jerry Brown into ACORN’s California activities.
The governor sent a letter Wednesday to Brown, referring to “news stories regarding the ACORN organization that have concerned me greatly.”

State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo yesterday launched an investigation into pork-barrel grants given to ACORN by state lawmakers, as City Council Speaker Christine Quinn froze all city funding earmarked for the scandal-scared community-activism organization.
The actions by the Democratic officials followed release of a shocking undercover video that showed employees at a Brooklyn ACORN office giving illicit financial advice to activists posing as a pimp and prostitute who wanted to start a brothel.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has ordered a review of public contracts to cut off state money to a left-leaning community organizing group now under fire.
Pawlenty’s directive Wednesday pertains to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, known as ACORN. The potential 2012 presidential candidate says no state money will go to ACORN unless legally obligated.
White House Calls ACORN Employees’ Behavior ‘Unacceptable’
At today’s White House briefing, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, asked by ABC News about recent government actions taken against ACORN, had a forceful response.
“Obviously the conduct you see on those tapes is completely unacceptable,” Gibbs said, raising the issue of videotapes posted online by BigGovernment.com and aired frequently by Fox News Channel that seem to show ACORN employees advising a faux prostitute and faux pimp on how to skirt housing and tax laws. “The administration takes accountability extremely seriously.”

Pelosi: I’m clueless about cash cut-off
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said yesterday she is clueless about an amendment to prohibit government funds for embattled ACORN, although it overwhelmingly passed the Senate Monday and the White House is calling for the group to be held accountable.
“I don’t even know what they passed,” Pelosi told The Post yesterday. “What did they do? They defunded it?”
The amendment to suspend housing grants was a stunning blow to the community-activist group — and came as some Democrats and the White House have been backing away from the group.
Some fellow lawmakers were surprised that Pelosi wasn’t following the issue.
“I think that she’s not focused on the issue of corruption,” said Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), who has been hammering ACORN.
Gee, not focused on corruption? Ya think? With people like Dodd, Rangel and Murtha hanging around?

I as telling my husband the other day, while watching some story in Italian about how she will be named some fashion icon or something. I went off on this rant. I was like, I don’t care if the media does positive stories on the FLOTU - they always do (well, unless it was Hillary) but whatever, cover her when she did the garden, and when she reads to kids, etc. But they ALWAYS paint her as the MOST of whatever. Most iconic dresser, Most famous, most loved, BEST arms, blah blah. I don’t think they need to put down every other First lady in history to make her sound good.

All of this ACORN corruption needs to be investigated now by the FBI. My understanding is Director Mueller learned of this unfolding story only yesterday.
We the People must demand a thorough forensic accounting of ALL ACORN funds, the entire shell operation, immediately. CCI is the money operation, however, you and I know there are lots of shady ways to launder money.
After reading RRR’s post downstairs, ACORN NO needs to be shut down and fully investigated by the FBI. We wonder why NO was struggling for years to recover from Katrina while her neighbors to the North, South, East and West were focusing on repairing their lives, their homes and their businesses with little complaint. Well, RRR’s post certainly raises my eyebrows and makes me wonder if ACORN made sure this good crisis didn’t go to waste and more importantly may have redirected federal dollars to other ACORN entity’s when they should have been going to rebuild NO.

When (or if) Obama emerged from his drug induced stupor, like a salmon returning to it’s stream of birth to spawn, he bee-lined straight to the center of political corruption, Chicago. That is where he he learned the ropes of community organized crime. In fact, from childhood he has been steeped in a radical anti American broth of communist relatives and militant 60’s statists. At this point, he may not even realize just how far to the left of far left that he is, he knows nothing else. He was never versed in the ideals of capitalism or the type of individual achievement that can only be realized in a free society. One of the traits shown by ALL of the creeps in the ACORN videos, is a complete lack of introspective realization that they are scum, and that their actions and attitudes are the solvent for the glue that peacefully holds a civilized culture together. They are clueless, and I’m beginning to think that Obama is equally clueless about the the fundamental principles, from individual liberty to free enterprise, that created and nurtured this great country. He never has been exposed to anything other than the most negative vision of America, and the most positive vision of an egalitarian Utopia, an impossible world that would be deceptively cruel and destructive to the human spirit.
Good analogy; of course, a salmon will not return to a cesspool to spawn; what is at home in a cesspool? Well, one of those tubular objects that will clear out a public swimming pool in seconds–but they cannot swim upstream to spawn . . .
Chicago certainly is an overflowing cesspool. But every once in a while, the vulume of excrement is reduced when a POS like Blago is “flushed out”. However, only some of the Chicago political community float to the top to become a “head” of state, while many others, after multiple “runs” for office in “lieu” of a more productive lifestyle, become “pooped out”, and eventually wind up “interred” there.

What gets me is the reluctance to tie Obama to ACORN by the MSN and even people like O’Reilly. It seems to me that Obama tied himself to this group–how can it not be clear? Either he was clueless about their criminal behaviors, and thus he isn’t so darned bright after all (a BIG possibility), or he was thinking his great charm will have caused his apotheosis by now and his godly abilities could sweep this corruption under the rug without anyone noticing. (Actually maybe both these things are true.)

I maintain that there is a direct corrolation between the massive taxpayer fraud we are seeing in the corrupt business practices of ACORN as disclosed by this brilliant piece of investigative journalism, and the electioneerng practices of ACORN which we saw in the caucuses which were riddled with voter fraud. The Obama campaign profited from these practices in the election and the dimocratic party reciprocated by directing massive stimulus fund to them, and putting them in charge of the collection of census data. Quid pro quo. The Dimocratic Party cannot separate itself from ACORN because it IS ACORN. The SEIU, ACORN and Obama are joined at the hip. Love em or leave em.
When will it dawn on the Dems that it didn’t have to be this way? I hope Fox connects the dots at some point before 2012 and Obama is forced to not run and then they beg Hillary to run because she is the only Dem who can win and clean up after Bush III and she wins.

the rumor I heard was that hillary would resign to run for governor of NY. i think she should; she has been completely marginalized by obama. i no longer support her as i think she puts party over country, but i still hate to see her soooo mistreated, but i guess she doesn’t mind.

If there is to be a federal government investigation into ACORN then Attorney General Holder should recuse himself. I am still troubled by the way he let Sacramento Mayor and friend of Obama Kevin Johnson off the hook in that embezzlement case, and allowed the IG who brought those facts to light to be fired on pretextual grounds. I think it is better for these investigative journalists to do the investigation so there is no similar cover-up.

I think Nancy ought to be concerned about the whipping up of the more unstable elements in her own party. Seems like the last time we they did that it led to the formation of the KKK. They terrorized newly freed slaves from not voting Republican.
Correction: I meant to say misappropriation of funds. I do not know off hand whether the charge was embezzlement, but it was at least misappropriation of taxpayer funds, which if memory serves he was not required to fully repay. What I do recall clearly however is that there was a real stench to it, and the US Attorneys office for the Central or Eastern District of California was involved. It is worth researching and I may do that, time permitting.

Yep, the only way this will have an affect on the presidency is through secondary routes. The extreme corruption of ACORN and its ties to so many people in Congress may make people even ore nervous about giving any more oversight of their tax money to the government until some of the corruption is eliminated.

I believe the information uncovered by these 2 (two) brave souls wading through the cesspool that is ACORN, sets the tone for any of us who are challenging the Presidency of this former ACORN employee (paid OR unpaid), and makes easier our efforts to persuade state officials to stick their necks out to do their jobs.

At this point, I personally am grateful to every person who makes a chip in the armor of this crooked cabal, however they do it. Attitudes tend to change abruptly when a person acquires enough information of the sort which he believes. There is resistance and then a tipping point and a sudden strong shift. Part of the frustration this year was the careful groundwork to establish the media as “trusted,” and all opponents to O. as untrustworthy. Tremendous amount of mental inertia to overcome.
But it isn’t at all impossible that these two would bring the house of cards down; it isn’t ever any single thing that tips the balance, it’s a mass effect over time, and the individuals in the mass all have their own back-breaker straw. If these videos and the reaction to them don’t do it, it’s at least a huge addition to the public straw pile and a step toward the goal.
I was skeptical about repercussions simply because I thought there would be more outrage over voter fraud linked to ACORN. Then last night I caught a snippet of O’Reilly (who’s usually an ass), and he was saying this is huge.
So now I’m hopeful that the devil will indeed get his due.

Christ, this isn’t about “bad” publicity, survival of the organization, people coming to the defense of it, or even That One. In lieu of spending all this money on ACORN, why not spend that money putting these chiselers out doing constructive and needed work such as weed whipping, picking up trash, and performing other work that might be of benefit to all? In lieu of “organizing communities” to get handouts from the government and line the pockets of their ersatz plantation owners, organize them into a work force to repair our infrastructure. And if they don’t want to do real work, they can suffer the consequences of a stupid decision. Organize that!
I don’t believe we really need more brothels, prostitutes, and pimps. What we really need are more people willing to actually work an honest day for an honest day’s pay performing needed work.
