We knew she was ready to go, having lost four of her seven children. It was when she lost her youngest "boy," my uncle who had been severely traumatized by whate he saw as an 18-year-old in WWWII that she began to lose her will to live. She knew we all needed her. Her last words to me on the day she died was that she was sorry because she knew I still needed her, but she was wanted to go home. She even sang the old song, "Show me the way home." So many of us grandkids and great-grandkids were left without a parent figure. We all knew the blessing she was as she lived those last years in the nursing home. We miss her. Neither of my boys and none of my sister's grandkids ever complained about going to visit her--they considered it fun for them. She was absolutely amazing. I am a scientist and I worked in a number of non medical labs. There is not a test in the medical or scientific profession that can be done for $3.00. Also a heart doctor's visit billed at $75.00 is now being reimbursed by medicare for about $56.00 which is lower than what a beautician earns per customer.
