President Obama’s epic egotism is reaching such stratospheric heights that it now rivals that of even the mighty John Edwards, self-proclaimed Most Beautiful Man Alive™.
According to Fox News, the president has managed to talk about himself 1,198 times during a mere 41 speeches so far this year.
Not bad!
But, really, what better topic is there?
The choice is either to speechify about the myriad problems afflicting the US (boooorrrring!) or wax lyrical on an issue of which he never tires - his very own self.
This should come as no surprise, after all, from the man who saw fit to give Queen Elizabeth II an iPod stuffed to bursting with a variety of photos/songs/speeches, all of which centered around, erm, him.
Sure, he’s a member of pretty much the most elite club going, but one’s achievements are amplified by modesty and diminished by pride, a lesson that the 44th president has yet to learn.
Could it perhaps be that the popular worship of the president, led by the ever-faithful MSM, is contributing to his exaggerated sense of self?
Just try telling me that this shrine wouldn’t make you believe your own hype.

Yep, that’s why some of us used the slogan, Obama for Obama. So much for serving the people or even for having any ideals. For him it’s always been about being a Senator or the President, about owning those titles, not about actually doing any work. And considering some of the strange ideas and people he hangs with, maybe that’s a good thing. Heaven help us all if he ever decides to actually “do” anything.

Yes HARP, that would indeed be traumatic for Him. However, I think the “mirrors” that really matter to Thee One are the radiant reflections in the eyes of his bizillions of adoring worshippers. If those lights ever dim, watch out.
You are absolutely spot on. He only cares about his own opinion of himself. Have you ever seen him smile in a relaxed moment of joy that wasn’t about himself? Have you seen him look upon anything or anyone with real pride or happiness? Never.

You hit it on the head, oowawa. A narcissist actually has very poor self-esteem, and their “self-love” is actually an alternative reality to help them avoid dealing with their own real feelings (would have been better for us if he had just gone to therapy instead of trying to be world ruler). Obama needs those screaming fans to keep the fantasy alive. Like you, I worry what will happen when his approval gets lower and the MSM actually does its job. I don’t think it will be pretty. Narcissists can be very aggressive when their fantasy is threatened… or maybe he’ll just have a huge breakdown…
Anyone who makes the lame-ass attempt to actually argue that his constant references to himself and the fawning androids who absolutely hang on his every word (just check out any drool-bucket-carrying Obamatron who squats on this site) doesn’t represent a cult of personality, needs to: 1) be tested for substance abuse, 2) be examined for an underlying psychosis, and/or 3) checked for the presence of a fried motherboard and dysfunctional operating system.

Those Time mag covers seriously made me go hunt for my Nexium, but the one on MO titled “The Meaning of Michelle” made me laugh. She looks so mean in that photo that my first thought was she doesn’t need anybody to make her mean because she’s meaning herself.

The similarity to Hitler’s images in Germany during his nosedive into Hell and Obama’s in current day Amerika mirror the insidiousness of the cult of personality, as it begins with a spark and becomes a conflagration. The more I see him in the media the more it makes me want to flee home and hearth for the safety of another country. Big Brother bodes ill. We are crossing the threshold of intelligent discourse into a region the mind cannot grasp. A man so struck by himself will do anything to keep that image alive and well. And, when all fails he will become suicidal, not caring who, what, or where goes along for the ride into the lower depths.
Oh good grief! The Obama = Hitler meme is getting so lame and desperate. My mother’s family suffered under the Nazi occupation. Comparing what they suffered through to the last 9 months under President Obama shows a level of ignorance that is truly staggering.
They are many legitimate reasons to disagree with Obama’s policies and persona. I think every American can and should voice those disagreements, loudly if necessary, when they feel we as a country are on the the wrong track.
Does the man have a healthy sense of self? You betcha! So did Reagan, JFK, FDR, Bush, Clinton, and every other person who has sought high office. Nothing unique there…

By the way, when Obama was asked about ACORN he simply stated, “I had no idea they got that much money from our government”. He left it at that and the so-called interviewer did too, dumb-ass.
Obama will be replaced as soon as possible, it will take WE THE PEOPLE to do it. We must call for impeachment and we must insure it gets done. Obama is a blight upon our country, and we don’t need anymore blight here.

I had a visceral repulsion the first time I heard bho the fraud’s voice during the primaries. Maybe more people are feeling the same now.
