A Speech I Want To Hear, And The Voice On The Other End Of The Phone Line

That would be Secretary of State Hillary Clinton speaking out about violence against girls and women at the U.N. After the ad nauseum speeches of President Obama, this is an incredibly refreshing change, even though the subject is intense, to say the least. Still, this one has substance, and isn’t “just words.” I can’t help but think the audience knew the difference, too:

Remember that “3:00AM” ad? Who would we want answering the phone? This woman, that’s who.

Instead we have President Obama, who has gotten his early morning call, particularly regarding Afghanistan. He’s letting it go to voice-mail. Hey, he has more important things to do, like go to Copenhagen to push for Chicago to get the Olympic Games in 2016. Yep - it’s true. He’s making a “personal” appeal - presumably on OUR dime. Oh, he can’t be bothered with what’s going on with ACORN, mind you, but he can press for Chicago to get the Olympics. So, General McChrystal, and our troops, can just wait, dammit, until Obama can get to them. (By the way, General McChrystal is holding firm on wanting those troops, despite the pressure he is under to shut up.)

Oh, and a little side note on that, the whole Chicago Olympics bid. Turns out that Fox TV in Chicago has been warned - as only they can do in Chicago - to NOT air a program they did on people in Chicago OPPOSED to having the Olympics there again. Oh, I just love this Free Speech, don’t you?

Every time I hear Secretary Clinton speak, and then President Obama, every time, I am reminded of who would have been the better choice to have at the other end of the phone line in difficult times. And it sure isn’t Obama, no matter how much he loves to hear himself talk (though largely about himself, as THIS article highlights. Almost 1,200 times in just 41 speeches, NOT including all of the speechifying he did last week. Holy SMOKES - narcissistic much?). He’s not the one I would trust to deal with the big issues. Seems like some other folks are figuring that out now, too. Too late, though, for dealing with some major issues, like Afghanistan.

If only it wasn’t our soldiers who were going to bear the brunt of that call going to voice-mail…

Seems ironic that Roman Polanski is appealing to the US State Department for help in getting the US to drop extradition efforts. Hopefully we won’t hear the SOS speaking out on behalf of a child rapist.

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2009-09-29 09:48:24

I plan to write ab that in a few minutes, and I cannot imagine SOS Clinton doing so…

Comment by typical gram cracker | 2009-09-29 10:17:09

I can’t imagine that Hillary Clinton would go along with helping a child rapist escape justice - even long delayed justice.

Hopefully one of BO’s crony plants at State won’t help Polanski under the radar and without Hillary’s approval. The Hollywood crowd that supports the “casting couch” mentality of the Polanski types is probably not above trying to exert their influence with BO to help this child rapist get a pass.

Comment by Onofre's arm | 2009-09-29 10:47:39

There is precedent. Weren’t Marc Rich and a bunch of domestic terrorists pardoned by Clinton (and Holder) on his way out? Liberals adore celebrities like Polanski, and often turn a blind eye to their debauchery, unless of course, you’re Kanye West. I still think though that calling Kanye a jackass was merely Obama’s clumsy way of calling him a Democrat.

Comment by tek | 2009-09-29 11:01:29

onofre: what Democrats are you talking about? Love celebrities?

Comment by Onofre's arm | 2009-09-29 12:01:10

It’s very clear that I wrote “LIBERALS adore celebrities….”, and I did so intentionally. Don’t misquote me, or distort my meaning and then expect me to defend YOUR distortion.

Just this morning I heard Woopie G. trying to excuse Polanski, and the uber liberal Hoolywood croud is generally supportive of the child rapist. Have you ever heard liberals clammering for justice in the Polanski issue? In the last 30 years, I’ve not heard a peep out of them, and silence for such a disgusting criminal act is as good as approval. However, it appears that RRR Amy is going to post her take on the issue, so I’ll reserve further thoughts for her thread. But if you can’t recognize it, it might just be that you’re so invested with the lopsided duplicity of treatment given to liberals vs. conservatives, that you’re unable to perceive the forrest through the trees.

Somehow you people think that open season on everyone but the Obama’s is an acceptable form of humor and pleasure. He’s he one who hangs out with and supports the Muslim community and the elite Hollywood crowd that has no problem with pedophilia.

THAT DISGUSTS ME. Maybe you can think back about how funny jokes were about Chelsea and Palin’s daughter were - I bet that puts a smile on your face. If not, maybe you can pull up BO’s visit over at Letterman’s for a full accounting of what 2 sick perverts look like!

Show me evidence that Obama supports Sharia Law. Show me evidence that he “hangs out with” the Muslim Community. Explain to me why it is not okay for the American president to “support” the Muslim community, which, if memory serves, comprises something like 2% of the U.S. population.

If anyone else made sexual jokes about the daughters of a politician you support (as Letterman did, but as Obama himself has never done, ever), you would excoriate them, and rightly so. But when it comes to making the sickest of jokes about Obama’s own young daughters, you have no problem with it, and nobody else here is willing to stand up and say that’s wrong too.

I am the father of a very young girl. I find your commentary about the Obama girls utterly repulsive, and I think your hypocrisy is quite clear to anyone who has read this thread.

YOu sickening bunch of hypocritical elitists better get used to having those of us who are sick and tired of the double standard, we are fighting back. By NOT condeming Zeleya, Obama shows support for regimes like Chanvez and Ahmadenijad who most certainly DO denigrate women. Obama is a sneaky bastard and so are most of his corrupt cronies.

Comment by Prime Obot | 2009-09-29 16:35:47

Right…Obama supports Chavez and Ahmadenijad. And Hillary despises them all, all those bad guys, and is constantly, bravely fighting the good solitary fight to combat evil regimes from within the confines of yet another evil regime headed by Obama.

It’s like you all live in some kind of comic book reality. lol.

Comment by NoBamaNoWay | 2009-09-29 17:22:34

well, there is the fact that obama campaigned for his buddy/cousin Raila Odinga in kenya, who supports sharia law. and there is the simple fact that islam allows multiple, very young, non-consenting wives, and obama has never had a thing to say about it; that’s why the joke about obama’s daughters is not out of line, and i normally oppose almost all mention of MO and the girls. if the POTUS is going to turn a blind eye to these practices because of his muslim background, or whatever, then one can only assume that he would be okay with his own children being subject to the same thing.

Comment by Prime Obot | 2009-09-29 17:38:37

Sheer madness. Show me an instance in which Hillary Clinton has spoken out directly against Islam’s practice of allowing multiple wives. Please, enlighten me. Because I’ve been following the Clintons a lot longer, and probably a lot more carefully, than virtually anyone on this site, guaranteed, and I’d be very surprised if such a statement from HRC exists in the public record. Yeah, yeah — any single human injustice that happens while Obama is president is by definition his responsibility. As if the Clintons accomplished anything along those lines while they were in the White House?

“She would have never allowed this bullsh*t to go on.” Yeah, sure — HRC, if she were in the White House, wouldn’t be focused on the economy, health care, Afghanistan, and everything else — she would be focused on solving all international injustices. And yeah, she wouldn’t be diplomatic and respectful when visiting Saudi Arabia, upon whose oil business the entire global economy still relies; she would have created a massive international crisis by insisting that they immediately transform the treatment of women within their borders.

You’re a fool, Carol. A deranged fool, at that. And anyone who actually believes this sort of hagiographic nonsense is similarly a fool. How fitting, let’s substitute Baracka for Sarah Palin: Barack Hussein Obama is a joke. He can’t speak (totus please), can’t write (Ayers the ghost writer) can’t think (ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah), and has little apparent appetite for work (voted present 130? times, has had how many v a c a t i o n s…). He is out to get rich (when did he buy that mansion, and what was his income last year vs the previous years) now off his fame (his mug appears on teevee way toooo much to be taken seriously and not be viewed like hollywoody resident wannabe) and that’s all we’ll ever hear from him (yes, wasn’t his desk at the Oval office pretty much empty in that weird photo with his daughter too-big-to-be-crawling around the floor except for…like a stack of………. two papiers).

Michael Sheuer, a former Bin Laden specialists, called Obama an “eternal adolescent”. I have seen the man speak several times, but cannot vouch for his credibility.
He is not alone, though, in his assessment of the non-involvement of the leader of the free world!

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2009-09-29 10:46:22

Exactly, Sassy - and I bet you think Hillary would probably have talked to him more than once every 70 days or so…

She is inspiring, no doubt abt it. And I, too, think it is interesting that she has been mum on health care and Afghanistan. Her silence speaks volumes (though I have NO doubt that if she DID say something that wasn’t in complete lock step with Obama, people would claim she was trying to undermine him). She is taking the high road, and is letting her previous words on these issues speak for her.

Comment by Prime Obot | 2009-09-29 12:55:13

Rev. Amy:

HRC is now the Sec. of State. Health care is domestic policy. It would be neither appropriate nor, given her less-than-stellar history with this subject, advantageous for her to involve herself in this Congressional debate in any way.

As for Afghanistan: for anyone to suggest that Obama is not taking the subject seriously is just is silly. Even the barest modicum of reading on the subject makes clear that he is deliberating very extensively, consulting with all kinds of military leaders, and so on. To imply that the president cares more about the Olympics than about the lives of U.S. soldiers is just…Republican.

Comment by Portia Elizabeth | 2009-09-29 15:06:51

Hey, Obot — if he’s so concerned as you say, then why only one communication with McChrystal in 70 days? Was he just too busy going on Letterman and doing tv spots for George Lopez?

And there are worse things than being Republican.

mmm-mmm-mmm

Comment by Prime Obot | 2009-09-29 17:00:09

>And there are worse things than being Republican.

Maybe so, but just barely. Republicans play no relevant or productive role in American political discourse these days. They had nothing relevant to say about the fiscal meltdown — nothing, nada, zilch, they would have just let the entire global economy collapse — and similarly, they have nothing relevant or productive to say about health care reform. Republicans and a few “conservative” Democrats are basically now putting all their energy into promoting an insane bill that literally was written by health insurance industry lobbyists.

And this site, of course, will support those “ideas” while condemning the genuinely progressive ideas like a public option which Hillary has spent many years fighting for. You’ll condemn them, because Obama supports them. Nice going.

Comment by Portia Elizabeth | 2009-09-29 17:50:19

I like the way you selectively debate; however, points will have to be deducted for deviating from the main talking points. You didn’t explain why your glorious leader who, until he stole the election, headed a subcommittee on Afghanistan and who also hammered away at why Afghanistan was of supreme importance. That said, why does he feel the fierce urgency of now regarding Olympic games 7 years from now, but cannot manage to meet with the general in command of our fighting forces in Afghanistan? (You know, the ones over there fighting and dying for our country?)

You seem like a reasonably intelligent Obot. Why do you not see the hypocrisy in this shallow, self-serving sham of a man?

Comment by Prime Obot | 2009-09-29 18:59:31

Thanks for the compliment, Portia. I cannot account for the president’s schedule, or how those decisions get made, or for all the confidential meetings that the president has that the public never knows about. But I do believe that it is ridiculous to propose that Barack Obama thinks getting the Olympics for Chicago is more important than a successful conclusion to the war in Afghanistan. Only anti-Obama cultists would even pretend to believe such nonsense. Seriously. Who actually thinks this way? That a crazy man is in the White House who doesn’t care about U.S. soldiers being killed? Don’t you see that Obama must succeed in Afghanistan if he has any hope of being reelected? So even if you think the worst of him, it’s still logical to assume…ugh, why even bother?

Republicans play no relevant or productive role in American political discourse these days.

Fallacy of false generalization. Demonstrate to all of us that you are correct in every instance. You can’t and your argument, therefore fall apart at the seams. Besides, if they weren’t relevant, you wouldn’t be here parading around your newest PowerPoint presentation from Obamatron Camp. Nice going, kid, another gold star for you.

They had nothing relevant to say about the fiscal meltdown — nothing, nada, zilch, they would have just let the entire global economy collapse — and similarly, they have nothing relevant or productive to say about health care reform.

Fallacy of the unknown fact. They may have had many relevant things to say and indeed more than likely said them. You, on the other hand, cannot prove this silly little assertion any more than you can prove you’re so much more than a 12-year old, chubby-cheeked, basement dwelling, beanie wearing, cheetoh-eating obamabot. You have your assertions and I have my own, troll.

Republicans and a few “conservative” Democrats are basically now putting all their energy into promoting an insane bill that literally was written by health insurance industry lobbyists.

Equivocation on the word insane. It could very well be you who is insane and projecting those voices echoing about your empty skull on the rest of us.

And this site, of course, will support those “ideas” while condemning the genuinely progressive ideas like a public option which Hillary has spent many years fighting for. You’ll condemn them, because Obama supports them. Nice going.

Several equivocations in one statement. You misuse the term progressive. Unless you can demonstrate using the actual definition of progressive that your belief structure represents that, then you are mistaken. So give us the definition as you use it, troll, and then WE’LL decide if your argument holds anything more that empty blather.

What is condemned here is the manner in which these proposals are presented and the lack of transparency, which was promised by you bots and your master a long time ago. It is US who will decide what is transparent and what isn’t and not you shills who have a vested interest in secrecy. You whining bots railed for 8 years about Shrub and his chicanery but when you do what amounts to the same thing, you cry foul. Too bad, little snip.

Lastly, you insufferable, boorish moron–have a little tact and go somewhere else to expose yourself. We don’t much care for your verbal nudity. The transparency and sophomoric nature of your belief structure rather tends to blind us all with its patent stupidity.

In other words==shut the f u c k up.

Obama wants an immediate rammed through without reading upheaval of our entire Health Care System , he wanted it done in a week or two. Meanwhile Obama wants to take his time and carefully decide on Afghanistan–a situation that has been ongoing for years, a situation that is costing the lives of brave soldiers–well he wants to agonise over THAT decision for days and weeks and months. Personally I think Obama could care less that soldiers are being killed because of his deliberate refusal to address the situation. After all aren’t most soldiers from Conservative States?

Also is anyone else concerned that Obama/Gibbs are smirkingly confident about Health Care passing-enough so that he can galavant off to Denmark to claim victory for Chicago. Man I hate these D.C. politicians. THe media frenzy that will accompany Obama’s victory with the IOC will be more than I can stand.

We can always hope he will come to earth with a bang. The bigger they are the harder they fall.

Prime Obot,

BO gave your precious little daughter the finger; what manner of father are you, to publicly proclaim your support for HIM? He called your girl a bitch (well, actually, he said her being a bitch wasn’t one of his 99 problems); he likened her to dirt, symbolically brushing her off his shoulders and dusting her off his shoes. And when his exalted speech writer publicly fondled the breasts of a cardboard likeness of your female offspring while simulating pouring alcohol down her throat, flaunting his depravity by publishing this over the internet; he chose to keep paying him, over making restitution to her.

Please, don’t feign disgust on this blog when people posit admittedly discomforting parallels in conduct so as to emphasize moral absolutes.

Exactly. The Obama administration is comprised of some of the most mysognistic and sophmoric “men” ever assembled.

Oh no, not the Obama team of “Sarah Palin is a C*nt” wearing t-shirt pigs.

Oh no, not the Obama team calling Sarah Palin a “pig”.

Oh no, not the Obama team lying and calling everything Hillary and Sarah disgusting lies.

I live to see his *ss impeached. He is dropping like a rock. I want him and his disgusting militant wife to have a long life hearing what overall garbage they are. Long live the creeps!

Oh, and let’s not forget the cardboard standup of Hillary being groped in his Campaign Office, probably in the DNC headquarters!

You make me sick.

Ah, so now one cannot support Obama and be a good father? LOL. That is the apotheosis of all the silly things I’ve ever read on this site.

The only thing that isn’t amusing about NQ is that every once in awhile people like you, who so easily and effortlessly dehumanize other people, or groups of people, gain power. And that, to say the least, is never pretty.

mmmmm-mmmm-mmm

Are you ready to be a bot?
Are you ready to be a bot?
Are you ready to be a bot?

Then let’s go and be bots!

Now speak to dehumanizing, little snip. You cultish fawning over That One is not something to be proud of but then your comments do demonstrate a decided lack of discernment and other attributes which are the domain of adults. Go away, child and leave discussion involving the higher functions to those of us who aren’t addled by drugs, psychosis, or a low IQ, one of which you demonstrably possess or suffer greatly from.

Suck it Obot, you backed a completely morally bankrupt corrupt lying thieving cheating stealing bastard named Obama and now you are going to have to be accountable to those of us did not.
