“Thank You, Madam President”

So said Ban Ki-Moon

Now America’s chief diplomat, Clinton was presiding over the Security Council because the U.S. holds its rotating presidency this month.

First, she called for a vote on a resolution demanding an immediate end to sexual violence by combatants in armed conflicts and announced that it had been unanimously approved. Then, she delivered a speech on behalf of the United States expressing hope that the resolution will hasten the day when thousands of women around the world fearing rape or sexual abuse during conflict can live in peace.

At the end of the speech, Clinton said: “I resume now my function as president of the council.”

“I kind of like being a president,” she added as diplomats burst into laughter.

“So this may go on a little longer than anticipated!” Clinton said, as applause filled the council chamber.

The laughter continued when she introduced Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon who responded saying pointedly: “Thank you Madam President.”

That is our Hillary. State.gov has the full video of her speech.

Meanwhile, what do we make of these left-wing fools?

[Gore] Vidal now believes, as he did originally, Clinton would be the better president.

“Hillary knows more about the world and what to do with the generals. History has proven when the girls get involved, they’re good at it. Elizabeth I knew Raleigh would be a good man to give a ship to.”

How does he think Obama is doing?

“Dreadfully. I was hopeful. He was the most intelligent person we’ve had in that position for a long time. But he’s inexperienced. He has a total inability to understand military matters. He’s acting as if Afghanistan is the magic talisman: solve that and you solve terrorism.”

and he regrets his change of heart from Hillary to Obama last year.

BTW, did you hear that jackass Michael Moore begging, begging Obama to be Obama, you know, the lone virgin in the whorehouse they all thought he was?

I am hoping the day can still come that Hillary Clinton can be our president. If I cannot have that hope, it will be a very bleak landscape for me.

Hillary Clinton is one of the hardest working, smartest, most experienced people we Americans have in our current political life, and we ought to cherish our good fortune that she is still on the scene.

Hear, hear! As Obambi continues to flail about our girl Hil gets stronger. I hope she can become what Kissinger was during the Ford term where Kissinger ran foreign policy and Ford did what he was told. As for Chicago and the Olympics, from what I read it was a weak bid esp compared to Madrid’s. But Rio and Madrid’s delegations promised to support the other if one were knocked out early. So it’ll be interesting how it turns out. Madrid’s bid is superior with venues built, low crime, good weather and corporate sponsors already lined up. But Rio has that ‘Obama-like’ narrative working for them of being the first South American host. I’m split between the 2.

Vidal Gore hit the perfect note with the bit about wanting Hillary but having high hopes for Obama nonetheless. Saying “total inability to understand military matters” is one of the worst insults I have ever read about anyone. Think about it. He is saying he cannot learn something that is vitally important for the nation from the most knowledgeable people in the world.

Yes, and still the obots wonder why an ex-Marine judge would want to verify that O was/is eligible to be our Commander-in-Chief.

It’s so frustrating to watch Hillary be Hillary because it is always so apparent that SHE IS THE ONE (and not “That one”).

Say What? Compared to President Clinton, FDR, etc, etc.? This is part of this nonsense that he is so brilliant because he reads speeches well (as long as they are nothing but generalities).

Slowly but surely, the creeps that have our blood on their hands from their promotion of other creeps like Obama and the attempts to degradate Sarah and Hillary are getting their just desserts!

Craig Ferguson is available. He is actually funny. And, he is a good person. I remember when everyone was making fun of Britney, he came out in his monologue and said he was a recovering alcoholic, and she her life was in danger. I think she is troubled by the leadership, and the direction we are headed.
After all we have a “green as a gourd Commander in Chief, elected by people “who don’t know their a$$ from a hole in the ground”, and that leaves Joe Biden Cheney in charge!

Hillary stuck in Barry’s shadow. She hurts her political future by endorsing his policies of big govt. out of control spending and his relentless march toward socialism. It may not be her policies, but by enabling obama…she gets stuck with them….

Comment by lightacandle | 2009-10-02 10:28:45

Yes, as Secretary of State, Hillary is obligated to represent the views of the president; many of her views may coincide with Obama’s but many may NOT. Nevertheless, she is a team player and will not undercut the person she has agreed to represent. I respect that, even though I do not respect or admire Obama (she may have the same feelings I do, you know).

BUT — and here’s the main issue — if Hillary Clinton wants to remain active in politics, she MUST be part of the Obama administration, and she is smart and wise enough to know that. She cannot go into some sort of self-imposed exile and just wait for a time when she might be able to be a player again. It just does NOT work that way. She must remain on the national scene.

In meetings with Obama, she is listened to and she may very well be keeping him from doing even insaner things than he is doing. I have read in many articles that Obama does, indeed, rely on her knowledge and judgment. So, I think Hillary is doing this country a major service right where she is.

Comment by mark connette | 2009-10-02 10:50:14

Sorry…that doesnt fly….She has a moral responsibility as Sec. of State to represent ALL Americans….not just to keep her head down and hope for the best…She would get so much more support from Independents if she resigned and became a thorn in Obama’s side for the next 3 years….as far as her service thus far.Obama has outsourced her job to other diplomats ie: iran, syria, north korea. her best move would be to resign…run for governor of New York and challenge barry in the dem primary in 2011 assuming she could beat guliani in new york…{which isnt for certain}

Comment by lightacandle | 2009-10-02 11:09:25

Yeah, she could run as an independent; that’s always worked so well in the past for third-party candidates.

Comment by mark connette | 2009-10-02 11:13:04

Very few Democrats would reward Hillary with the Democratic nomination if she had spent her time sniping at a fellow Democrat, the incumbent president.

Even with the Kennedy mystique to shore up his candidacy, Teddy Kennedy could NOT successfully wrest the Democratic nomination from the weak President Carter, who went on to lose to Ronald Reagan.

Comment by Kathleen Wynne | 2009-10-02 11:29:03

mark connette,

you say “she has a moral responsibility as SOS to represent all Americans” makes no sense. As SOS, her responsibility is to support the obama administration’s policies. We don’t really know what she is thinking and whether she’s “just laying low for now”, so to comment on such speculation as if it were fact is just an excuse to find fault with SOS Clinton.

Why not talk about moral responisibility when it comes to former SOS Powell. I still remember his big speech before the UN while making the Bush administration’s case against Iraq by holding up the vile of “anthrax” declaring “We have first-hand descriptions of biological weapons factories on wheels and on rails.” Do you find that morally reprehensible that he was willing to make such a definitive statement on behalf of the Bush administration, when he knew the intelligence was not conclusive about this. He later indicated that he regretted making such a speech — but, of course, his statement of was too late in having any impact on stopping the war in Iraq.

You’d think by now that men, in general, would try to curb their knee jerk response to finding any and all excuses to find fault with women, particularly, those in power and their habit of holding women to a higher standard than they hold their male counterparts.

According to the Washington Post, Joe Biden was driving the discussion on Afghanistan, and Secretary Clinton’s response was muted. She reportedly shares many of Gates’ views.

I am still amazed at the people who refer to Present Obama as so intelligent. Where is the proof of that? It certainly does not show in the few press conferences he has had. I’m not talking about his teleprompter, I’m talking about when he has had to answer questions off the cuff. Lets see those grades from Columbia and Harvard.

Comment by Slim Tyranny | 2009-10-02 11:52:10

Comment by Docelder | 2009-10-02 12:06:35

I don’t think there is much of a relationship between intellect in a single specific field and common sense. And there certainly is no correlation between intellect and honesty.

Obama is like the Mafia Don’s son who goes to law school to help the old man get around the law.

Comment by rw | 2009-10-02 12:36:09

“You’re wrong. You can’t buy your way into the top 10% of grades in your Harvard Law class (or any other college or graduate school class).”

Like hell you can’t. And where are his TRANSCRIPTS that verify his graduating position? If you know academia, then don’t argue with: no statement is “fact” until DOCUMENTED.

Comment by Slim Tyranny | 2009-10-02 12:40:22

My source is the Encyclopedia Britannica, which makes that statement. And if you’re going to claim that Obama “bought” his way to magna cum laude, then YOU’RE the one who needs to supply proof for such an outlandish claim.

Look, I’m sorry you can’t accept the fact that Obama performed well in a competitive, high level academic setting. But it’s fact, deal with it.

Comment by Onofre's arm | 2009-10-02 13:06:01

Please provide the document or tangible evidence that Encyclopedia Britannica relied on to make that statement. Until I see actual credible evidence, I can only assume that E.B. simply wrote down what they were TOLD regarding Obama as though it were accepted fact.

Obama does not display or provide evidence that he has what I would call a deep intellect. I can’t remember an important policy, or an opinion piece, where Obama has been the primary author. Can you?

Everything that I have witnessed about him indicates an average intelligence, and a less than average grasp of the mechanations of a complicated world. Where is his “expertise” on anything other than delivering someone else’s speech?

Comment by Slim Tyranny | 2009-10-02 13:09:25

HAHAHAHA

Man, you really gotta stretch to weasel out of this one, don’t you?

A well-known, reputable encyclopedia’s veracity being questioned by an internet ranter = awesome.

You fail, Onofre’s arm

Comment by Onofre's arm | 2009-10-02 13:34:20

It shouldn’t be difficult to find the actual source of the information that E.B. used for it’s description of Obama, should it? Did E.B. manage to get his college transcripts through the million dollar wall Obama has built between the public and all of his academic records?

Why can’t I question the veracity of E.B., they’ve had to make many adjustments and corrections to their publication as new and more accurate evidence has become available. And skeptical “internet ranters” have exposed volumes of lies and inaccuracies disseminated by previously unquestioned oracles like “The New York Times”.

And in your silly attempt at deflection, you’ve failed to provide ANYTHING that is positive proof of Obama’s vaunted intellect.

Comment by Onofre's arm | 2009-10-02 13:48:16

“Internet ranters” exposed the Dan Rather “Bush documents” to be fraudulent.

The huge army of internet contributors has experts in every field imaginable, people who focus an educated critical eye to every subject, people that can spot something wrong in an instant, the best and brightest of the world. Of course, the opposite end of this enlightened and intelligence spectrum is obviously an area where YOU are on more familiar ground.

Obama and his Chicago buddies (politicians and developers) were going to rake in billions with the ‘O’lympics. They WOULD get payed for the work, no matter what. But as is usually the case, the actual cost of such a project is far greater than the revenue generated, so the taxpayers are on the hook for years to make up the difference. BTW I loved the clip of Hillary, it just makes me all the more angry at the DNC “leaders” and what they did to our country with their stealing the Nomination for Obama.

Comment by HARP | 2009-10-02 11:46:02

Damn Racists.

Comment by BuzzisbackLatte | 2009-10-02 11:47:36

Does this mean the IOC doesn’t believe that Obama is the messiah?

Comment by ~~JustMe~~ | 2009-10-02 11:56:17

he never walked on that water in Denmark he just spoke from a teleprompter!

Somebody said NO to Barry and Oprah!!!! Hope they enjoy that long trip back. Of course, he’ll be “working” on board Air Force One. Right.

Comment by Hank | 2009-10-02 11:54:32

He spent more time with in Copenhagen pushing for Chicago, than with Gen. McChrystal.

haa haa, I saw the headlines on Drudge:
Obama + Michelle +Oprah = ZERO.

The ego has landed indeed.

Comment by Peggy Sue | 2009-10-02 12:03:28

Hahaha. “The ego has landed.” Good one, barry.

Comment by Docelder | 2009-10-02 12:12:04

I know, that one might just sum up the whole presidency. Darn creative.

Comment by rw | 2009-10-02 12:44:43

They forgot to add Jarrett to the equation. Thank you IOC. The US has problems, Chicago has way too many problems and the Olympics were going to be glitter and not a solution. Stay home and get to work Obama and Company. And Oprah, if you love Chicago so much get going on fixing its schools with all you dinero.

There are days I just feel like weeping when I see what an unsavory mess Obama is making of just about everything he touches as president, and knowing we HAD an opportunity to have the best-qualified person as president, Hillary.

I am painfully aware of all the issues on which she would have taken the lead and ACCOMPLISHED what she set out to do.

Obama just jaws and jaws and jaws and jaws. Left … right … left … right … left … right … left … right … left … right … left … right … goes his head as he READS prepared remarks from the teleprompter, since he is almost incoherent when he tries to speak extemporaneously on any critical and complicated issue.

Comment by Docelder | 2009-10-02 11:53:38

Yes, like he’s watching a tennis match. Robama… just as much heartless as the original tinman.

Can Hillary win the any nomination in the Party without the black vote? Is it even possible?

Comment by Hank | 2009-10-02 12:14:30

Can someone please post his speech where he states that the 2016 Olympics would be held in Chicago. Maybe this will stop his arrogance and realize that things don’t always go his way.

I can’t believe (well I Can) he only met for 25 minutes with Gen. McChrystal in Copenhagen. I can see where his priorities are, he spent more time pushing for Chicago than with his top Afghanistan commander.

Then we find out ACORN received 1 million dollars from FEMA to fight fires. CROOKS and CORRUPTION is what this administration is about.

Comment by TeakWoodKite | 2009-10-02 18:04:04

Maybe this will stop his arrogance

Not in a million light years would that happen.

ACORN has Firefighting experience? Hosing the vote?

So ACORN is hiring chipmunks now?

Axelrod is putting a happy face on the decision right now. When disaster strikes, send in the clean-up crew and spin-meisters.

Wish I could be a fly on the interior of that airplane home. Bet it would be a earful! Or antennae full :0).

Comment by Scout | 2009-10-02 15:19:06

Axelrod complaining about ‘politics’ is like Dr. Frankenstein complaining about monsters.

Michael Moore begging, begging Obama to be Obama

.

That is the funniest thing I read all week!

Comment by morris1030 | 2009-10-02 13:03:17

How true. He seems pathetic. Like a deer in the headlights MM looks like he’s just found out he’s been had. His tepid disappointment is only the beginning. We were just rejected for the bid for the Olympics. First to be rejected. The presentation was a clunker, and the IOC had no taste for Chicago politics, corruption and crime.

Another naive conceit of a president who is full of hubris, totaly lacking experience, and out of touch with the reality of the world stage as well as his own Americans.

He’s embarrassing. Imagine shlepping Oprah to this scene? Obama was clueless as to the politics of the IOC. We never stood a chance. Chicago?

“History has proven when the girls get involved, they’re good at it.”

WTF???

OK, it’s nice that Gore Vidal has acknowledged that Hillary would have been better than O. But she’s a woman, not a girl and these are serious, real-life issues, not a Bad News Bears movie where the Little League team sucks until the coach brings in Tatum O’Neal.
