So 18 members voted for Chicago in Round One, and 76 members voted for another city. Chicago and the Big Dog fail miserably. The trouble is, they thought they were going to win.

That is the status of thinking in the White House. It is all going to be good. We are going to win. We will win. Delusions of Grandeur: We can win in Afghanistan (what about Iraq, do we win there?) and Pakistan will rid themselves of all the Taliban; we can have Universal Health Care for All, everyone will be covered. Yes We Can.

It is not about the President, it is about American Foreign and Domestic Policy. We have never recovered from the economic impact or the mental anguish of September 11, 2001 and its aftermath.

The Olympic vote is a wake-up call. The world is not as our American Eyes and Press see it. We are not in sync with world reality. We do not rule the Planet Earth. Our power is not as strong as we think.

I wish there was video of the scene on the plane when they were celebrating how wonderful they are and Michelle talking about when she was a small child of 6 foot 20 years sitting on her daddys lap watching Carl Lewis win the gold, and THEN they found out they got the very least amount of votes. I bet things were flying (beside the plane)

Funny cartoon, Pat. It reminds me of the days when it was a fad to reward a pompous public figure with a pie-in-the-face. Of course, in this instance the hyperinflated public figures did it to themselves . . . no pie necessary. The message from the Obamas to the IOC: “If you love me, and I know you do, you’ll send the Olympics to Chicago.” Message from the IOC to the Obamas: “You know we all love you both deeply, and Oprah too, but when it comes to choosing between the Cesspool of American Politics and Rio de Janeiro, well, we’ll send you a postcard from the beach at Ipanema.”

When you have kids like Derrion Albert being BEATEN TO DEATH in front of a Chicago public school …

Funny cartoon and great drawing. It seems odd that the President (and subsequently the news) give equal attention to the Olympics and Iran talks.

Very reminiscent of an early ’70’s “National Lampoon” cover that had the iconic picture of Che Guevera with an egg on his face. The theme of that issue; “Is nothing sacred?”. Thankfully, in the entire history of American politics, nothing IS sacred, and regardless of the protective shield of phony racial sensitivity that the MSM has thrown over the Obamas, their very actions have punched holes in that shield through which our well aimed ridicule and mockery can penetrate. The Obama’s own buffoonery and tawdriness is beginning to dissolve their teflon coats, and as I predicted, when it becomes accepted and popular to yank them off of their styrofoam pillars, they will become ineffectual in their efforts to drag this country into a Fascist sewer. The American birthright to ridicule our leaders is the best weapon we have for halting the most radical and destructive move to the ultra left that this country has ever faced.

They went on to say how pompous and “American” it was for Obama to just fly in for a few hours to do the pitch, like it was some pow wow business deal. Tony Blair spent 3 days to pitch for England for the 2012 games. Barack showed poor form.

There are tipping points in politics. I think this Olympic fiasco may be the tipping point for the Messiah. Just think about it. The timing for Barack and his handlers could scarcely be worse. With health care mess in shambles, with crap and trade on the rocks, with the stimulus plan not working, with continuing unemployment, with his desperate attempts to campaign through the presidency, with the exposure of ACORN and his Czars, with the birth certificate issue working its way through congress, with tea parties growing, with the race card not working, with NATO confidence waning, with Hobson’s Choice in Afghanistan, with influential elites questioning their choice of him over Hillary, with the hope and change message becoming trite and his blaming Bush for his elimination in the first round sounding absurd, things are not going swimmingly for the would be American Idol. At some point, the political grandees who supported Obama, the spinners who promoted him, and the media mouth pieces who lied for him will be persona non grata.

Pat, I totally agree with what you said. The president needs to remember that he won and that now he is the president of the U.S. and his job is to represent and take care of the country and not just Chicago.

This reminds me that there is a difference between buying a company and having the skills to successfully run a company. Many may be able to buy a business, but few can run one successfully, especially if the business was in trouble to start with. We know that Obama and his people knew how to buy the business. When are they going to show us that they can run the country successfully? I, for one, hope they start soon and that they are successful or we all lose, even those who did not vote for Obama. Yes, I think that our government is a business and Obama is supposed to take care of the peoples’ business.

I believe this man will let people continue to go without jobs and funds and an ability to have either to get that bill passed. If he turned a blind eye as a community organizer to those slums his “friend” Valerie J. was more than happy to receive compensation on; regardless of the filthy conditions and who was being harmed, it wouldn’t be that hard to continue the blaming other’s game while he hammers on the need to pass his health care plan as a bamboozlement to (wink wink)to create jobs. This on its own should scare the hell out of anybody in support of that plan. If he cannot be honest for one moment when addressing the need for the plan,blaming the unemployment rates on the lack of it, there needs to be a call to the WH shrink for a very quick mentally fit eval. He is losing it, and the more he doesn’t get what he wants the more the American people will suffer.

The regular folks here in Chicago, you know, the ones who are not part of the inner circle of the Combine graft machine, couldn’t be more excited about these results. We did not want this mess, cost and aggravation to visit our city.

Now maybe the mayor will start taking care of the problems he was elected for, and get this city in control.

Perhaps one of the biggest political stories of the year is being completely overlooked by the Obama-struck mass media. A new biography by veteran author Christopher Andersen, “Barack and Michelle: Portrait of a Marriage,” reveals that former Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers wrote most, if not all of President Obama’s book “Dreams From My Father.”

In a series of American Thinker articles over the past year, PhD author and columnist, Jack Cashill has been asserting just that. But while he found striking similarities between the two men’s writing styles he could never conclusively prove Ayers’ ghost authorship. Andersen’s book does.

Cashill relates: “relying on inside sources, quite possibly Michelle Obama herself, Andersen describes how Dreams came to be published — just as I had envisioned it in my articles on the authorship of Dreams.

“With the deadline pressing, Michelle recommended that Barack seek advice from ‘his friend and Hyde Park neighbor Bill Ayers.’ Despite a large advance, Obama found himself ‘hopelessly blocked.’ After four futile years of trying to finish, Obama ‘sought advice from his friend and Hyde Park neighbor Bill Ayers.’ This he did ‘at Michelle’s urging.’”

Andersen explains their rationale: “Everyone knew they were friends and that they worked on various projects together. It was no secret. Why would it be?”

I don’t know, but it was certainly considered a secret by candidate Obama, and the media bent over backwards to keep it that way.

This was not the first time Mr. Obama was “blocked” either. Shortly after he was elected the first black president of the Harvard Law Review, an aggressive literary agent named Jane Dystel secured a $125,000 advance from Simon & Schuster for him to write his book. An astounding sum for a first-time author, he never delivered. After years of waiting, the publisher dropped him.

Dystel then secured him a second advance for $40,000 from Random House, and in 1995 “Dreams” was finally published. After gaining his U.S. Senate seat, Mr. Obama summarily dumped Dystel in favor of someone cheaper. She was understandably infuriated. It is worth noting that as editor of the Harvard Law Review, Mr. Obama wrote one short article. For such a supposedly gifted writer this is truly odd. And as Cashill has noted, Obama’s few other writing samples are “sophomoric”.

Andersen concludes: “In the end, Ayers’s contribution to Barack’s Dreams From My Father would be significant–so much so that the book’s language, oddly specific references, literary devices, and themes would bear a jarring similarity to Ayers’s own writing.”

During his campaign, candidate Obama took great pains to distance himself from Ayers, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and the many other radicals he knew. But investigation by many independent journalists overcame the media blackout to reveal extensive connections between the two men.

It is old news now that Ayers and Obama served on the boards of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge and the Woods Fund together, but in total, Obama worked with Ayers and other radicals on least six related non-profit boards and shared the same office for three years with Ayers and fellow radicals, Susan and Mike Klonsky.

Now this latest revelation about Ayers’ ghostwriting suggests that not only did they work together, but Ayers essentially gave Obama his voice.

All this has somehow been lost on mass media’s intrepid investigative journalists. Nary a peep.

Can one of the NQ writers do a post on this? The idea has been floating around since last year, promoted by Jack Cashill. Now there is some corroboration of sorts with the Anderson book.

But I have seen this nowhere except on American Thinker. When Oprah got duped by James Frey, it was headlined across the world.

We need to find out if this is true.

To be fair, I think there are three important reasons Brazil won the right to host the Olympics:

First, South America has never hosted an Olympic Games.

Second, Brazil doesn’t live in fear of international terrorism, and the chances that terrorists would want to disrupt the games there are lessened somewhat. Also, people around the world aren’t clamouring to emigrate to Brazil and neither is Brazil particularly worried about guests ‘overstaying’ their visas. Both these things mean that Olympic officials, athletes and tourists will have an easier time getting visas to attend the games.

Third, when you think about a city known for celebrations and partying, where the IOC officials can be guaranteed to have a good time, Chicago isn’t even in the same league as Rio de Janeiro and Copacabana beach. The fact that the American president and his darling family would have easy access to attend the games, and the First Lady’s teary and sentimental sales pitch couldn’t conjure up dollar signs quite the way the presentation of Brazil as a nation of 400 million sports-mad spectators could.

I saw high fashion model last year with a giant fried egg sewn to her dress and burst out laughing. But hey, those designers try to predict what the high and mighty will be wearing in the coming season, so I think they nailed it. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if the first lady started modeling the fried egg dress.

Obama and team clearly didn’t do their homework or they wouldn’t have even applied to bring the summer Olympics to Chicago. They should have realized that the Olympic committee reads and sees the news and are aware that crime-ridden Chicago is not a suitable site for the Olympics.

Unfortunately, the egg on their faces no doubt spills over to spell disrespect for our country. Seems Obama is good at taking on losing projects. This likely includes dealing with Iran and Afghanistan. And probably health care reform.
