Done. Just a reminder. When a child molester is caught, it is seldom his first offence.

After he escaped to France, Polanski went on to shoot the film Tess staring Natashia Kinski who was underage at the time. The French turned a blind eye to the persistent rumors that he had seduced her during the shoot and that they were an item living together, and such until she turned 18. They lived together for one or two years. He was approaching 50 and she was not even 20. That seems to be his ideal age difference since his current wife is also younger than him by decades. Polinski: Chaplin revisited.

He started sleeping with Nastassja Kinski when she was only 15:

Per wiki: At 15 Kinski began a romantic relationship with director Roman Polanski.

And so far in my experience, it’s almost impossible to get them prosecuted. If you don’t have a video or recording of the incident, or a confession from the perp, lots of courts won’t prosecute.

Thank you Larry for posting this petition. It’s time we take a stand. I work for a women abuse and sexual assault center and Polanski makes me sick

Thank you for showing that this site is about calling out the liars and exposing the truth.
Regardless of party.
This pedophile must face justice.
Period.

Done. Do the crime, now do the time. How anyone can even defend this guy is nuts. I’ll forward the link to others.

Done. Looks as if it won’t be long until they have the firs 1,000 signatures. It’s now on my facebook page.

I was hoping someone would do this. I’ve long maintained a personal boycott list of actors, directors, etc., whose conduct was objectionable (mostly racist) but - until now - not criminal.
The intensity of my disgust and outrage is ineffable.

Thank goodness, Amy, your group is listening when the conservative anchors and pundits ask, “Where are the women’s groups? Why are they silent on this? Of course they are talking about N.O.W. which is not really a women’s organization except for abortion and lesbian rights. They even endorsed 0bama in the primary over Hillary. Although N.O.W. had 550,000 members in the 70’s, this year it was reported they now only have about 50,000 members. There is a very good reason for this decline in membership - they are not a spokesperson for women. They were a very visible organization in the 70’s and 80’s, but not particularly effective other than the two issues they focus on.

NARAL, another visible abortion rights group, is mistaken for a women’s organization. They, too, endorsed 0bama in the primary over Hillary. They offer no support for women other than their narrow agenda of abortion.

It is very dismaying. I am not aware of a women’s organization that is an advocate of basic women’s rights that welcome all women regardless of political persuation. They all have their agendas that disqualify or alienate women for one reason or another, for example, pro-life or conservative women are not sought out. Conservative women’s groups make the same mistakes with their focus on religion. Both groups lose 50% of women when they insist members share these philosophies. To be clear, I have always been a pro-choice, left of center, feminist, democrat. After the 2008 elections, I am an independent.

Most women can agree on the subject of this article - the abuse of women and girls. It is very disconcerting, however, that there are women (celebrities) calling for Polanski’s crime to be dismissed. In fact, it appears that women are leading this effort with the likes of Woody Allen close behind them. Until women can find common ground with regard to basic women’s rights, we will have little say in determining our own destiny.

Amen, FranSC.

And thank you, Amy, for posting this. I am likewise appalled at how many wish to excuse him for this horrid crime.

Thanks for the link to the petition and I have signed it. Polanski needs to do “time”. I’m a democrat and tend to be more liberal on “social issues”. But what Polanski did was a crime against a young girl which makes it even more heinous in my book.

For years, I enjoyed films and was only interested in the actors’ abilities, not their personal life. No more!
This type of depraved behavior probably explains the trajic ends of so many young people who go to Hollywood.
Too bad Polanski won’t be “water-boarded”!

Comment by Kbentleyis | 2009-10-04 12:44:24

I’m so proud to read all of these posts. Thank you for standing up for justice. I too am amazed at the response from Hollywood. It’s time we start to boycott these radicals–remember our kids look up to a lot of them. Including their music.

How did things ever come to this? Dennis Miller said you have to read the orignial transcript when the child spoke to the authorities. It surely changed his attitude.

What is it with this Wooppie Goldberg? Not rape rape? And this woman is on a “Toys”R”Us” pamphlet with toys that teach specially challenged children.

Comment by ~~JustMe~~ | 2009-10-04 13:14:43

signed the petition last night.

Seems we need to contact “Toys”R”Us” they need a new face on their pamphlet. Hit em where it hurts!

Comment by ~~JustMe~~ | 2009-10-04 13:20:59

at least someone who sees rape for what it is RAPE!

specially challenged children

Her continued public face is so wrong in so many ways. Let’s just take the very most vulnerable among us and not see how uniquely placed they are as victims.

My skin crawls.

There was an essay up over at Huffy-Poo written by a Joan Z. Shore, presumably the co-founder of a group called, Women overseas for Equality. She, this advocate of women’s rights, excoriates the Swiss for their outrageous, disgraceful, and unjustified compliance with US authorities for arresting Polanski in Zurich, where he was to receive an “honorary award” at a film festival.

I could “not” believe what I was reading. How terrible that Roman Polanski, a child rapist, had his party rained on and that the Swiss [for whatever their reason] arrested a “gifted” film maker, who 30 years ago drugged, raped and sodomized a 13-year old girl. One of the arguments was “the girl” was within a week of her 14th birthday.

Thirteen, fourteen, who cares? This is not the age where the “victim” can give legal or moral consent. But for Ms. Shore this makes no difference because the girl and her experience is unimportant. Polanski is the “victim” in this scenario, the object of a witchhunt.

And, of course, the United States and the Swiss are the evil-doers.

Talk about a world upside down! The only good thing were the responses at Huffy-Poo; most posters were stunned as I was.

If Ms. Shore’s attitude is what passes for modern-day feminism, we have definitely hit the wall. You do not appease or forgive or overlook child molesting, unless you want to end up in Hell, too.

Infuriating!

Amy I signed your petition this morning but still have not received the email for me to confirm.

Comment by Amy Siskind | 2009-10-04 17:35:48

Check your spam box maybe - some folks are finding that it goes directly to spam since it is generated from editor@thenewagenda.net

A couple of folks have told us that their email system automatically deletes spam before it enters - does yours?

If you don’t see it in spam, leave me a comment at the TNA blog and I’ll follow up.

Let’s see David Letterman’s wife sign. Women are victims whenever men who are their bosses have sex with them.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2009-10-04 20:14:07

I don’t automatically delete spam and it’s not there. I also tried to sign again and the system told me that somebody with that email address already “tried” to sign.

Come on people let’s step it up and get this out there. Pass on this link to friends and relatives who are equally disgusted with this pedophile. The Help Polanski petition already has over 700 names:http://www.petitiononline.com/270909/petition-sign.html

Comment by Laurie G | 2009-10-06 18:27:09

I am a liberal “new feminist” and I am SHOCKED by the attitudes of Hollywood. Maybe it’s because I have a daughter? If Polanski had molested or raped my daughter, he wouldn’t have had the option of jail.
I am sorry for his past tragedies, but sorry, losing a loved one doesn’t give you carte blanche for your own depraved activities.
The upside for us for the 30 year wait is that the courts will be much tougher in sentencing (I hope). Ninety days for drugging and raping a child? Travesty.
